Family-friendly, dog-friendly camping with campfires on a beachside farm in Lincolnshire

A handpainted sign on an old wooden pallet asks campers to “Stay up late” and to “Wake up smiling” at Creekside Family Camping. This is our kind of campsite and, in coastal Lincolnshire, it stands out. While other sites in this holiday hotspot are populated with static caravans and tourers, this is a tents-and-campervans-only affair. It’s situated in three pretty meadows on a working farm and provides relaxed and friendly camping within walking distance of the long sandy beach of Anderby Creek.

We weren’t exaggerating when we said this site was friendly. Campfires, dogs and kids are all welcome here; it’s only large all-adult groups and caravans that are not. There’s a definite family vibe to the place and while the charming homemade signs encourage campers to stay up past bedtime, a hush usually descends by 10.30 pm. There are areas set aside for ball games and buckets and spades are available to borrow from an on-site beach hut. This little hub also offers campers the chance to charge phones, freeze ice packs and borrow board games.

These little touches and the site facilities (flushing loos, hot showers and even a dog wash) all point to the experience of the farming folk behind this campsite. The Mowbray family who run the place love camping themselves and it shows. They’ve taken great care to put this site together but have also employed a light touch. Facilities, for example, are immaculately clean but simple; toiletries are provided but eco-friendly and much of what you’ll see on site has been lovingly re-purposed.

It’s a 10-minute walk from your pitch, past the nearby caravans, to the sands of Anderby Creek. The beach is a long stretch that’s as good for a stroll as it is for a sunbathe. There’s a cafe on the sands that does great breakfasts but other than that it’s unspoiled and part of the Lincolnshire Coast Country Park. For the more typical thrills and spills of the seaside, head south to Ingoldmells and Skegness, both within ten miles. Then, when another day on the beach is over, refer back to the handpainted site rules for what to do next: “Smell the fresh air, sit by the campfire, look at the stars” and, most important of all: “Make memories.”

What a fantastic site, we loved the Grove at Creekside, a perfect location, great facilities with lots of little extras like lovely lights around the site, wood to purchase for the fire pits that are available to use, picnic tables and deck chairs! Creekside Grass Electric Pitch
Great time!
Spacious plots. Everyone was very friendly. Showers were good. Nice touch that there’s lockers with Charging points inside them so you can charge your phone locked away safe. There are cows and goats on site as it is a working farm. Beach 10-15min walk away. Area was lit with fairy lights. 2 toilet blocks. We would recommend and would return.

Creekside "Pick your own" pitch
Need a new field for non families!
We love coming to Creekside “family” campsite. But on this occasion a few older singles and couples taking up loads of room. I assume because they don’t want noisy kids around them. Maybe time to think of a quiet field for all the non families! That aside another wonderful stay at Anderby. Special mention to the camp warden Paul. Lovely bloke with the patience of a saint 👍🏻

The Grove@Creekside Grass Electric Pitch
Best campsite in Linconshire
Great campsite near lovely beaches, easily accessible. The Grove Campsite is located away from the main one and is a bit quieter, lovely showers and toilets with a stock of fire starters for use at the fire pits. Every pitch has a picnic table which is very useful and the owners are always available by phone or email to answer any questions or queries. Best campsite in Linconshire 😊

From the host
Nestled in the middle of the Lincolnshire Coastal Country Park, Creekside Family Camping and The Grove@Creekside are relaxed & friendly farm campsites. Within walking distance of stunning sandy beaches, Creekside is a great base to explore all that Lincolnshire has to offer; from the beauty of The Wolds to the seaside fun of Skegness, there’s something for everyone to discover and explore.  The atmosphere as the sun goes down is always special on site; As the sun sets and the campfires are lit, the sites are truly at their most magical. Creekside Family Camping  for tents and campervans is set over three camping fields & we offer a mixture of pitch types. Two of our fields contains allocated electric and non-electric pitches. For those that prefer to choose their pitch on arrival our other field contains unallocated pitches (just arrive and choose your favourite spot!).  The pitch sizes are large and there is ample space for children to run around and play, with a separate area for ball games.  All are decorated with pretty bunting, straw bales and fairy lights and there are also picnic tables dotted around for campers to use. The Grove@Creekside is our smaller site with just 10 large (approx 15m x 15m) pitches for caravans, tents, campervans and motorhomes. With a mixture of hardstanding and grass pitches, nestled amongst mature hedges and trees & with brand new facilities for 2022 it’s a lovely peaceful spot to enjoy your camping holiday. We provide an extensive information pack to all our guests before arrival with details of the site and the local area but are always happy to have a chat and recommend things to do and places to eat.  If guests are interested there’s often the opportunity of a tour around the farmyard or a sit on a tractor too!
Nearby attractions
The big attraction here is the vast expanses of sandy beaches. The closest, Anderby Creek, is a short walk of less than half a mile up the road. Wolla Bank is also within walking distance and both fall within the Lincolnshire Coastal Country Park.  Those looking for livelier seaside fun will find Ingoldmells, five miles south, and Skegness, five miles further, with fairgrounds, arcades, donkey rides and other traditional seaside attractions.
Food and drink
You can walk to Popa’s Bar (01754 872374) for burgers, pizzas and fish and chips, in Anderby Creek in three or four minutes (it's less than half a mile away). Nearby, Anderby Beach Café (01754 874000) serves fantastic breakfasts and classic café meals right next to the beach with a lovely outside eating area. Farmer Brown’s Ice Cream (07946 485549) in Huttoft, a five-minute drive from site, is recommended for ice cream which is made on-site from their own dairy herd as well as great coffees and homemade cakes. It also has a great outdoor play area including a large wooden combine and tractors. Seascape NSO (01754 873840) in Chapel St Leonards (a five-minute drive away) is a café right on the sand doing delicious food and drinks and with the odd pop-up restaurant evening and The Marina Fish & Chips (07939 844533 also in Chapel St Leonards is your hosts' favourite for fish and chips. Order online and they’ll even deliver to the campsite gate.
