If you’re thinking that, with summer only just behind us, it’s a little early to start planning your 2021 glamping holiday; think again. With a surge in demand for staycations, some of the most popular glamping sites are almost guaranteed to sell out their summer weekends before Christmas. And, as camping and glamping have gained more fans than ever, if you want to secure a spot for your family at one of the best glamping sites in 2021, you’re advised to book sooner rather than later.

From classic glamping hot spots that we know book out months in advance, to brand new openings that we can guarantee will go down a storm in 2021, these are our expert picks of the sell-out sites for next summer. Kingfisher at Dragonfly Camping, Pembrokeshire
There are two forms of glamping accommodation at Dragonfly Camping on the Cleddau Peninsula in Pembrokeshire but it’s the floating Kingfisher that’s usually in hottest demand. This bobbing cabin is part houseboat, part log cabin and rests moored up on the edge of a small lake on an organic farm. Guests can wake up and step straight out onto the deck overlooking the water. From there the choice is simple; flop back into the hammock, which sways gently with the movement of the water, or dive straight in for a swim. Decisions, decisions…
Sennybridge Shepherd’s Huts, Brecon Beacons
You don’t need a crystal ball to know that Sennybridge Shepherd’s Hut is going to be a popular spot in 2021. This self-contained shepherd’s hut on the northern edge of the Brecon Beacons opened for the first time in 2020 and proved perfect in an age of social distancing as it sits in its own one-acre field. It’s beautifully crafted, set up with everything you need and offers epic mountain views. NightSky Glamping, Gwynedd
Whether you choose a spacious safari tent or a slightly more bijou bell tent at NightSky Glamping each still comes with its own kitchen, shower and toilet, plus a bubbling hot tub where you can enjoy dark skies that only this remote part of North Wales can offer. And, for most, it’s the location that really makes this place stand out – it has a fantastic location on the Welsh Llŷn Peninsula within easy walking distance of two sandy beaches and the ever-popular Abersoch village. Many summer weekends in 2021 are already fully booked in the safari tents but spaces still remain.
Copy House Hideaway, Lancashire
New glamping site Copy House Hideaway booked up almost overnight for summer 2020 when it first launched for bookings and, with so many visitors vowing to return, its no surprise that 2021 is filling fast. The winning combination of cute shepherd huts, stunning views, hot tubs and super-friendly owners have won this place a lot of fans. The site’s two en suite shepherd huts are located in beautiful Lancashire countryside just 15 minutes from the Yorkshire Dales.
Culdees Castle Estate Glamping, Perthshire
Another new glamping site on the Cool Camping “likely-to-sell-like-hot-cakes” radar is Culdees Castle Estate Glamping in Scotland’s Perthshire. It’s a sophisticated, adults-only glamping site with three cocoon-like, luxury cabins tucked in a little woodland in the grounds of a crumbling castle. Stylishly decorated and self-contained, each glamping cabin sits in its own glade within the woodland and features a private hot tub. The castle, the woodland, the wildlife and the cabins themselves conjure up the feeling of a Scottish fairytale and make it a magical place for a romantic getaway.
The Treehouses at Blackberry Wood, Sussex
Blackberry Wood is a camping and glamping site we’ve loved from the early days and it has a legion of Cool Camping fans who return year after year after year. Some are after a proper woodland camping pitch and some come to try out the wild range of glamping accommodation that owner Tim has introduced here. Perhaps most popular of all are the truly spectacular, perfectly-named treehouses, Higgledy and Piggledy. They offer self-contained, imaginative glamping in the trees with bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen and all at canopy level. They are beautifully crafted, utterly enchanting and likely to sell out soon!
Abbeyfield Glamping, Northumberland
There’s just one achingly-cool converted horsebox at brand new Abbeyfield Glamping and it’s already booked for every weekend until Christmas. Now doubt it will be gone for next summer before you can say “that’d look great on Instagram”. It’s a 1964 Bedford TK that’s been changed from horsebox to housebox and is now parked up in it’s own five-acre meadow. It’s perfect for two and cosy for a family of up to four with a kitchenette and a fully-tiled, super stylish shower inside too. It’s a peaceful place with riverside walks and woodland nearby and the Northumberland coast is just 20 minutes’ drive away.
The Templar Treehouse at Melin Mabes, Pembrokeshire
The Templar Treehouse at Pembrokeshire site, Melin Mabes, offers a full Swiss Family Robinson experience. All mod cons are provided in this fully-furnished home-from-home in the trees and, best of all, there’s a slide to get down to ground level. The treehouse is in its own private garden area with a pond and a rowing boat – and there’s a hot tub too. All this in the grounds of a 16th-century mill, surrounded by great walks and just five miles from the Pembrokeshire coast.
Gravel Pit Farm, Kent
The two safari tents at Gravel Pit Farm provide a luxury glamping experience that’s within easy reach of London – so it’s no surprise it’s a popular spot. Each spacious tent has two bedrooms and an additional cosy cupboard bunk bed that younger kids will love, making it a great space for families of up to six. There’s an equipped kitchen, living space with a log burner and well-appointed shower-room with a barbecue and communal campfire area outside. Eggs, laid by the farm’s chickens, can be collected daily and there are horses, cats and dogs on site too.
Dam View, Stirling
More luxury safari tent glamping is on offer at Dam View where two luxury lodges are within commutable distance of not just one city – but two. This site in the Central Scottish Lowlands is just an hour’s drive from both Edinburgh and Glasgow. Whether you’re heading out for a break from either or visiting Scotland for a longer holiday, the short distance is a boon though you’d never know civilisation was so near. As the name suggests, these high-end lodges look out over a dam: Gartmorn Dam Nature Reserve to be precise; a haven for birds, butterflies and glampers looking to immerse themselves in the natural world.
Wingbury Farm, Buckinghamshire
Three neat little glamping pods, in a neat little glamping meadow are surrounded by acres and acres of flat green farmland at Wingbury Farm. This is a farm stay for the modern glamper with all mod cons in miniature – including a wood-fired hot tub, WiFi and a smart TV. Available for year-round stays, they are at their best in the summer when the good weather means you can sit outside in the tub and enjoy the far-reaching views, fiery sunsets and dome of stars that the wide-open location affords. Situated on the edge of the Chilterns, there’s nice walking nearby and Whipsnade Zoo about a 30-minute drive away.
Brocklands Farm, South Downs
There’s not much to do at Brocklands Farm which is exactly why people seem to love it. It’s a place where you can sit back and enjoy a slower pace of life with just two safari tents sharing a peaceful meadow. Adults can enjoy the views from the tent’s raised veranda while kids can discover the simple pleasures of the tree swing and exploring the site’s little woodland. The tents are en suite and well-equipped but off grid with a wood burner for heat and hot water and paraffin lamps and candles for light. The well-signposted South Downs Way runs right past site and offers lovely walks. Historic Portsmouth is within day-tripping distance too.
Peaks and Pods, North Yorkshire
Walkers, mountain bikers and mini-mooners are among the folk who clamour to book a week or weekend at Peaks and Pods in North Yorkshire. And it’s no wonder as the site offers pod-based glamping between the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the Yorkshire Dales National Park. All pods are insulated and double glazed and have an electricity supply, kitchenette and made-up beds but from there; it’s a sliding scale of luxury. Most in-demand are the “gold-top” pods which are en suite and have private hot tubs alongside the fire bowl that comes as standard.
Laverstock Farm Glamping, Dorset
Far from the madding crowds, away from Dorset’s family camping scene, are Laverstock Farm’s two adults-only shepherd’s huts; parked up amid the glorious scenery that inspired Thomas Hardy. These off-grid boltholes are cute and cosy with made-up beds and a log-burner inside and simple cooking facilities outside. Flushing toilets and a lovely washroom are a short walk away and shared between the two huts. While a quiet stay is guaranteed in the peaceful surrounds of the farm, it’s not far to the well-loved charms of the Jurassic Coast either with Charmouth and Lyme Regis in easy driving distance.
Ewe Love Camping Pods, Lake District
If you love the Lake District and you love glamping you’ll love Ewe Love Camping Pods. With views of 2,848-foot Blencathra, these three modern pods are a great base for discovering the north Lake District. The national park is one of England’s most popular holiday destinations so it’s no surprise summer weekends at these pods sell out fast. With only a handful of people on this Cumbrian farm site at any one time you’ll never feel crowded and, as each pod has its own en suite facilities, there’s no queueing for the loos either.
