woodside country park herefordshire

Just two miles from the amenities of Ledbury, this countryside campsite has excellent views and a peaceful, partially wild ambience. It really is a ‘country park’, home to over 500 native water plants, trees and shrubs, planted alongside swathes of wild flowers, giving colour and variety even in the winter months. The pods are tucked amidst pine trees at the top of the campsite and have a heater and electricity inside. The Malvern Hills and the Forest of Dean are the most famous nearby spots for a good New Year's Day walk, though several footpaths pass immediately by the campsite. Find out more

hollington park glamping Berkshire

Hidden in the forests of the North Wessex Downs, this small-scale glamping site offers a real winter escape with an atmospheric setting among the trees. There are just two pods, each with a deep double bed, while a brick-built firepit outside offers the chance for a New Year's night around the campfire. On New Year's Day, climb Beacon Hill, wander across famous Watership Down or head to one of the three pubs within easy walking distance. Find out more

north lees Peak District

The pods at North Lees Campsite in the Peak District are unfurnished inside, so act more like an alternative to the tent than a plush glamping hideout. They are, however, insulated, heated and have electrical lights, plus enough space for an entire family. The real benefit is the location. Right below Stanage Edge in the south of the Peaks, the campsite is excellent for hikers and mountain bikers who are looking for that active day out as a family to start the New Year. Hathersage is also within walking distance down the valley, with several excellent pubs. Find out more

greenway glamping Shropshire

There are five pods on this traditional campsite on the edge of the Shropshire Hills. Each of the wooden structures features heating, lighting, a fridge and a double bed settee. They also come with a BBQ if you fancy a New Year's Eve night fuelled by fresh meat from the village butcher. Head into the hills for your New Year's Day walk after enjoying some weekend sights beforehand in Ludlow, Much Wenlock, Bridgnorth or Ironbridge – all are less than half an hour away by car. hillcrest park Northumberland

The ten timber camping pods at Hillcrest Park in Northumberland are some of the most popular pods on the Cool Camping website. Insulated with Cumbrian sheep’s wool and fitted with a heater and large, double-glazed windows, there’s no need to worry about getting cold, while New Year's Day walking is well catered for. Nearby Hamsterley Forest is riddled with family-friendly trails, just a short drive away, or you could start from the campsite itself, walking a section of the Teesdale Way that leads you to Fernaville’s Rest, a Grade II listed pub around four miles away. Stop on historic Whorlton Suspension Bridge on the way for a quick game of Pooh sticks. Find out more

king's lynn caravan and camping park Norfolk

It’s a short drive to the north Norfolk coast from Kings Lynn Caravan and Camping Park, a campsite home to eight mega-pods with beds, sofas, heaters and electricity. Hunstanton, Brancaster and Holkham beaches all make for excellent walking spots, as well as some of the local marshlands, all taken in by the Norfolk Coastal Path. The campsite itself is well equipped for winter – there’s under-floor heating in the sanitary blocks and a kettle and cooking equipment in each pod for making a warming morning brew. Find out more
