Tented glamping with en-suite facilities and hot tubs within walking distance of two sandy beaches

The charms of beachside Abersoch village on the Welsh Llŷn Peninsula are such that its population swells by a staggering 30 times in the busiest weeks of summer. If you’ve yet to pay this place a visit, you might be wondering what all the fuss is about. Let us explain; sandy beaches, beautiful sunsets, starry night skies, a laid-back atmosphere and a healthy restaurant scene all within easy reach of Snowdonia National Park. Need we say more? All you need now is a place to stay that puts you in reach of the attractions but away from the crowds... all you need is NightSky Glamping.

This glamping-only site with five bell tents, seven safari tents and a herd of alpacas is a 30-minute walk, or a two-minute drive, from the village and its beach. The tented accommodation offers a new way to stay in an area that’s traditionally attracted the caravan and holiday cottage crew. NightSky falls somewhere between the two; with the self-catering facilities you’d expect from a cottage and the outdoor space of a campsite. Crucially though, it’s got glamping down to a T with a hot tub, a kitchen, a shower and a toilet at every tent. In fact, the six-person safari tents have two loos a piece.

Each tent also has its own decked area where, alongside that all-important hot tub, you’ll find a barbecue and chiminea. It’s the perfect place to watch the sun go down and to see what inspired site owners, Angie and Derek, to name their site NightSky. They’d probably also say it’s a place to escape what they fondly call the “midsummer madness” of Abersoch. They know it well, having only fairly recently made the move from being one of the many who visit to one of the few who stay. Greater champions of this area would be hard to find.

While Abersoch is the nearest village, just a mile-and-a-half away, there is another beach that’s even closer. Wilder (by both name and nature) Hell’s Mouth beach is good for blustery walks and surfing. And it’s not the only one, the Llŷn Peninsula is surrounded by glorious sandy beaches with a coastal path (and a handy bus service) linking the lot. You could fill your days here with walking, watersports and wildlife-watching but Llŷn is not called Snowdon’s Arm for nothing. All this coastal charm is also just 20 miles from the edge of Snowdonia National Park and the adventures that lie within.

Nearby

On-site Alpaca Trekking can be organised with NightSky’s own alpacas. Off site, the closest beach, Porth Neigwl or Hell’s Mouth, is just over a mile away and known for good surf. For a more sheltered beach, head in the other direction off site, for a couple of miles to reach Abersoch main beach. Sailing lessons, kayak and paddleboard hire are all available from Abersoch Sailing School (07917 525540). There’s also another sandy beach four miles up the road at Llanbedrog where you can also head out on walks through heath and woodland. The walk up Mynydd Tir y Cwmwd to the Tin Man sculpture is recommended for beautiful views over Cardigan Bay. The Llŷn Peninsula Coastal Path is an easy route for walkers. Further afield, Pwllheli, the main town on the peninsula is about 8 miles away, Criccieth with its coastal castle is 16 miles away, Porthmadog is 21 miles away with the edge of Snowdonia National Park just beyond that.

Food & Drink

There’s a local shop just 200 metres away which sells all the basics. The closest pub is The Sun Inn (01758 712660), just a mile away, which serves good food. There are lots of bars, restaurants and shops in Abersoch village. For a sundowner overlooking the harbour, try Zinc Bar and Restaurant (01758 713433), for pizza there’s Crust Pizzeria (01758 712896) and for something a bit fancier, perhaps try The Dining Room (01758 740709). Further afield, a trip to the Ty Coch Inn (01758 720498) in Porthdinllaen is recommended – it’s the best beach bar in the world – according to some. Food is only served at lunchtime.

beautiful, peaceful and all round wonderful experience

I was talked into camping by my other half, he loves camping and I am not a fan. Nightsky glamping was our compromise. The facilities were not a compromise, the views and location were no compromise either. We absolutely loved it, from the cosy nights huddled around the wood burning stove to stargazing in the hot tub. I have already recommended this wonderful site to at least 3 families and i will continue to spread the word as i cant praise it enough. Beds were comfortable, and the quilts were warm and snuggly. The sofa was lovely to relax on and there were plenty of places to chill out either in the tent, on the deck, in the tub on the picnic bench or around the fire. Plenty of beaches and walks to keep you busy. I just loved every minute of being here. Thank you :)

Fantastic relaxing week

Stayed here for a few days as a belated birthday get away and everything about the stay was fantastic. Right from the start the staff were helpful and friendly checking us in. We stayed in a bell tent which was more than enough for the two of us. The private kitchen and bathroom were both clean and had all the needed pots, pans and utensils. The hot tub was amazing to relax in each evening especially following a day out walking in Snowdonia. We were even allowed to feed the alpacas before leaving. We will definitely look at coming here again

Amazing place 😍

What a stunning place with beautiful surroundings. We stopped in a safari tent (milky way) which was perfect. Amazing hot tub and clean throughout. We and had such a peaceful week. Would 100% recommend this place to anyone. Would suggest walking down to the nearest beach which is Porth Neigwl (devils mouth). Which is about a 20 minute walk (easy). Or you can take the car where there is free parking ! Abersoch is a lovely place too. Thank you to the owners of nightsky glamping where safety was their first priority with staggered check in times and hand sanitiser available outside the tent. Would definitely book again.

Lovely Location

This is a lovely location and all tents are positioned so well to give enough privacy and own space feeling. Separate kitchenette and bathroom pods are great - very clean and well equipped. Tents are very comfortable - don't forget that you are still in a field so will need a jumper and socks in the evening! Abersoch and the surrounding areas are beautiful and lots to do. Would definitely return and recommend.

Just Perfect

Absolutely beautiful place. As other reviews have said they have everything covered even down to a cool bag with ice packs to take on your visits to one of the many beaches in the area. So peaceful and the safari tents are just immaculately clean. The alpacas in the field are an extra added touch for little ones, ours took the opportunity to feed them for the price of a bag of fed and loved it! Wonderful location close to Abersoch, Hells mouth and Llanbedrog beaches. Had a wonderful time and will definately be returning!

Great glamp site!

Had a really enjoyable time at this site. The Bell tent has everything you need for your stay. It was really nice ending the day with a wine in the hottub watching the stars. The site is really quiet, well maintained and easy to find. There are pub/restaurants down the road and lots to do in Abersoch and the surrounding area. This is the best glamping site we have been too, you must go!!

Gorgeous Glamping!

Just back from a week's stay in a bell tent. Really enjoyed our stay. Tent was really comfortable and warm even though it was very windy. Fully equipped mini kitchen and bathroom in the little pod next to our tent were spotless on our arrival. Location is great with amazing views. We visited the nearby Sun Inn Pub, for dinner which was a short walk away. Also there are nearby sites with really good take aways. Both Hells Mouth and the main Abersoch beach are close by too. If you're after some water activities then head to Glasfryn Parc. The owners were really friendly and helpful, during the high winds, they completed extra safety checks throughout the site to make sure everyone was ok. We loved chilling out in the hot tub, overlooking the scenery. Our son loved the football goals and feeding the Alpachas. Thanks for a great week, we will definitely be back. 🏕😎🦙xx

Perfect boys glamp

The place is better than described in an idyllic location. The tent and interior features are quality and brand new. The pod with kitchenette and shower is awesome. Add the hot tub, BBQ, log burner, distance to Abersoch and Hell’s Mouth beach, the helpful family who run the site... and you have a high class, value for money Glamping experience that you will cherish. Couldn’t have asked for a better extended weekend. Do not worry about Covid, all precautions are planned for here. Thank you Night Sky Glamping team
