It's 20 minutes to Powis Castle (01938 551944) in Welshpool and a 30 minute drive to Lake Vyrnwy where you can hire bikes and go canoeing, kayaking or sailing. Wander up to Lake Vyrnwy Hotel (01691 870692) afterwards, for a cream tea with fantastic views over the waters. Pistyll Rhaeadr Waterfall (01691 780392) is about 45 minutes away and Mount Snowdon is just over an hour away. Bounce Belowtrampolining and exhilarating Zip World (01248 601444) are also in the Snowdon area, while downhill mountain biking at Coed Y Brenin Visitor Centre (01341 440747) in Dolgellau is perhaps the most popular way to get the heart pumping. Food & Drink

A couple of miles away in Llanfair Caereinion, there's a romantic wine bar called Just 3 Drops (01938 811917) that comes highly recommended. Ruth serves great food, including tapas, and the wine selection is fantastic. In the same town, The Goat Hotel (01938 810428) is also excellent – a busy, friendly and warm local pub. There are two other cracking pubs serving food in The Red Lion ( 01938 810341) and The Black Lion (01938 810759). Supplies-wise, there's an excellent butcher in Pandy's (01938 810671). The town also boasts a post office, Spar, Londis, petrol station and a fish and chip shop. Chat with Tracey and Terry in advance and guests can also arrange Champagne, Prosecco, cakes, balloons and more before they arrive.

Wonderful experience

We spent two nights at in the Oak Yurt and we had a wonderful time. The yurt was very clean and comfortable and the hot tub was kept at a lovely temperature. The little kitchenette was well equipped but washing up was a bit of an issue so we used the bathroom. The bathroom is only a few metres away. There’s plenty to do around there. We visited the lake and the waterfall. Just make sure you take some changes if you visit the waterfall for the toilet! We went to the three drops private dining and it was fantastic. We also booked Elwynn to take us and pick us up and he was great. Overall well worth a visit. If I was being really really picky I’d say some fairy lights outside would be nice for when you are in the hot tub once it gets dark.

Lovely peaceful getaway

We stayed in the Oak Yurt and it was beautifully presented and clean. The little kitchenette was right next to the yurt which was easily accessible. The hot tub was fantastic and was lit up from 1pmish. Ice blocks and logs/kindling were provided and refilled everyday and Tracey and Terry were lovely hosts. We had issues with alot of flies in our kitchenette and the Yurt so they provided fly tape for us in our kitchenette. The bbq was a decent size and we cooked on it every night. There's a Tescos about 10mins drive away to go and get any bits you might need. Washing up the utensils and plates/pots was a bit tricky without hot water so we used the bathroom sink instead. The bathroom/wet room shower was clean and lovely and the rain shower always had hot water. This was really close to the Oak Yurt. There are lots to do the area and we went to Lake Vyrnwy and did a canoe ride which was fun (£20 for 1hr). We fully recommend booking a reservation at Just3Drops restaurant as this was a fantastic private dining experience and the food was incredible. Overall we had an amazing 4 night stay at the Secret Yurts and would definitely go back again and recommend to others.

Fantastic getaway

Me and my partner stayed at The Secret Yurts for my birthday. The rural location paired with the weather, made for a fantastic few days. The yurt is super cute, with a very comfy bed. The kitchenette was very handy for the couple of times we cooked. The wood-fired hot tub was amazing, where we spent most of our stay. One little request would be a net, which would be a handy addition to skim any bits on top of the water. The separate toilet facilities were great and spotlessly clean. Tracey and Terry were both great hosts and we hope to come back soon.

Everything we hoped for!

I surprised my partner with a two night stay in The Rowan yurt. The stay was everything we asked for and more. The yurt itself is set out beautifully with a cosy log fire that kept up warm throughout our stay. We awoke to the sound of farm animals which made it feel that more “off grid”. Originally we booked the Birch yurt, after discovering the Rowan was available, Tracey and Terry kindly let us upgrade so we have an electric hot tub which was AMAZING! Both Tracey and Terry were excellent hosts and have really put the tiny details in each yurt to make it feel like a home away from home. We took Their recommendations on where to explore and to have dinner which were both exceptional. We cannot wait to return to The Secret Yurts, it really was a trip to remember.

Post lockdown adventure

Stayed in the oak Yurt, it literally had everything we could have asked for. Cosy, cute, and impressive. The facilities are excellent and have everything you could need for a little break away. The log fire is definitely powerful and keeps the heat well. Tracey and Terry were so welcoming and great hosts. The area is beautiful and we explored local attractions such as Pistyll Rhayader and Powis Castle, both very impressive. Definitley recommended and would love to come back at some point.
