Eco Retreats Glamping
The site theme is peace and tranquillity, with a healthy dose of eco-living thrown in. To get you into the mood, the camping experience even includes optional sessions of reiki healing in the comfort of your own tipi or yurt and a soothing meditation as the sun sets.
The dwellings are furnished in a relaxed, luxurious and romantic way – from sheepskins strewn across the double bed, to tea lights scattered on every surface. A pack of organic edible treats awaits and all the necessary cooking paraphernalia is conveniently to hand. Heating is from both a wood-burning chimenea inside the tipi and an open fire outside.
Each of the dwellings is set in its own idyllic location, where your only neighbour is the great outdoors. Beneath the stars or a leafy canopy of mature trees, each is accompanied by a wood-fired outdoor bathtub where you can bathe to a soundtrack of birdsong or spend evenings deciphering the various constellations.
The Meadow Yurt is the best family-sized option, with two extra single futons as well as the double bed. The surrounding meadow also makes a great play space for children, carpeted with wild flowers in spring. The Waterfall Tipi, on the other hand, is a fairly steep 10-minute walk across the river, then up through a wood, carpeted with bluebells in spring, with the waterfall itself just down the slope behind. Forest Tipi has the most private location. It’s a longer, slightly more strenuous, walk up a steep hill, but in a breathtaking location – a clearing in the oak forest. The River Yurt, slightly more spacious than the tipis, is nestled down close to the river – an ideal spot for paddling, or even a full dip if you’re up for it…
The newest tipi is the only one with a Welsh name - Cwm Onnen, meaning Ash (as in the tree!) Valley stands at the top of the site commanding an impressive view of the whole valley and hills beyond. It’s easily accessible as you can drive up the farm track and leave the car just a short walk across the field.
Envelop yourself in the Eco Retreats experience. Leave all your usual gizmos at home – don’t take your mobile, laptop, radio, iPod or even your guitar. Just doze off listening to the fire crackling – and wake up to birdsong, running water and the wind in the trees. It’s Zen and the art of camping.
The Owner Says
In a beautiful, remote valley, over four miles down a forest track you'll find the perfect place to reconnect to yourselves and to nature. Our four tipis and two yurts are spread out over about 50 acres, each in its own secluded location so you can really appreciate the peace and quiet. The tipis and yurts are lovingly furnished with a double bed (bedding provided), kitchen area, coffee table and comfy cushions, sheepskins and throws.
we stayed here the last weekend in October in the 20 foot meadow yurt. It truly felt like you had escaped from civilisation in the sense that you were surrounded by the welsh hills, woodland and meadow. The yurt itself was beautiful with a fabulous woodburning stove and a handmade very comfortable wooden bed. There are two gas rings to cook on , loads of candles and a wonderful ambience. We also indulged in guided meditation and healing from Annie who come to the site and the 2 days were wonderfully restorative. WE have already booked a longer stay for next year. Highly recommended.
We stayed two nights here this weekend and had an amazing time. The site was located 4 miles up a track so nicely cut off from civilisation. Although there are other tipis (and yurts) on the site they are far enough apart that you have plenty of space and privacy. The tipis are well equipment with pretty much everything you need and very comfortable. There was even a bottle of wine awaiting us! The composting toilet and spring water shower were a discrete distance from the tipi itself. Coming out of the tipi each morning to the amazing scenery was an experience not to be missed. The Welsh hills and forests were beautiful. We very much enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it.
