The Owner Says

Six new refashioned shipping containers, (each 6m x 2.4m), make a spacious building with  3 cosy bedrooms on the first floor and 3 living areas on the ground floor providing a kitchen, a sitting room, utility and drying room, and a secure storage area for valuable equipment. The white walled interiors are fully- heated and light permeates into the bedrooms through very large portholes. The living areas below open out onto a wide decking area, (18m x 5.5m), sheltered by three permanent sails, with further living and dining spaces. The deck itself can open out further as the walls open to reveal the coastal valley setting.

The exterior of local Welsh Larch and the sails echo the coastal environment, and the design using recycled containers provides a very low energy building, (especially when the solar PV panels are added). An Air Source Heat Pump provides lots of hot water.

Accommodating up to 12 people this unique development makes an ideal base for making most of its local environment. There is a secure space for storing, washing down and drying of equipment and clothes. There are showers for post swimming in the sea which is just 200 metres away, and somewhere to clean off those sandy or muddy boots from the many walking routes in the area.

A bonus is the wildlife. Nestled in a quiet part of the Welsh Coast Path on the Ceredigion Heritage Coast there is in abundance with seals, dolphins, rare butterflies and many unusual birds.
