Creature comforts
Enjoy the comforts of home—including flush toilets, showers, and a kitchen.
Private, adults only glamping in a romantic Ceredigion setting, with exceptional kitchen and shower facilities – plus, a wood-fired hot tub.

In a stunning location in rural Wales you’ll find a very special place.  Somewhere you can retreat to, away from the stresses of modern living and step right into the middle of nature.  A place where eco-living and luxury go hand in hand.  A sanctuary of peace and relaxation that doubles as a base for the exciting adventures to be had along the fabulous coast or in the beautiful countryside.  You decide!

Unusually for a glampsite, this one’s only for grown-ups and the yurts are spread out across the site, so more private than most.  Step inside any of the generously sized 6m yurts and you’ll find the romance of a sumptuous four-poster bed, log burner and twinkling fairy lights.  Vintage and upcycled furniture line the periphery, with a comfy sofa to snuggle up on in front of the fire and a magnificent central crown wheel, that lets the light flood in.  It’s difficult to believe that the whole site is completely off-grid.

Perhaps the real key to the site's appeal, though, is the facilities on offer. Sitting adjacent to the yurt in a private shepherd's hut is a cute kitchen with plenty of cooking equipment. On the other side: a shower room kitted out with a walk-in shower and (hallelujah!) a proper flushing toilet!  But there's more.  Step out onto the deck and immerse yourself in the wonderful, natural environment.  A nearby stream babbles gently as you recline the sun-loungers provided and watch the magnificent red kites soar overhead.  There’s even a fire pit for toasting marshmallows, happy days!

Two of the yurts have their very own wood-fired hot tubs, perfect to relax in after a busy day exploring.  The dark skies here are truly spectacular, many guests see shooting stars and the Milky Way for the first time, while soaking in the hot tub!

There’s something deeply satisfying about this sort of off-grid getaway, and owners Terresa and Chris have excelled in creating an eco-conscious abode without scrimping on luxury and comfort.

Willow Yurt
A unique stay!
Willow yurt did not disappoint! Such a unique stay. The yurt was decorated beautifully and had the most comfiest bed! A real feel of nature but with the luxury of a shower and kitchen with some lovely extras supplied by the hosts such as eggs, milk and marshmallows for toasting on the fire. Would definitely recommend anyone to stay in a yurt! The hosts were so welcoming, it was great to meet them and their cat! :-) Thankyou!

Me and my fiancé came here as a surprise for her birthday, from the minute we stepped foot into the car park we were greeted by the lovely owners who were fantastic throughout our stay. The yurt itself was fantastic, so cosy and relaxing and once the log burner was on it was nice and toasty even in December. The shower room and kitchen are a little luxury which is nice to have considering your in a field. The views were stunning as I expected from the lovely west wales and there are plenty of towns and villages to visit for lunch or dinner, we enjoyed the stables in Lampeter. When we got back colin had the hot tub ready for us and we could just sit back and relax even in the rain. It was a fantastic experience and would recommend it to anyone. The facility has all you need you only have to bring yourselves.

The hosts Terresa and Chris and very informative and welcoming and they explain all you need to know and then they leave you to it and you could be in another world. Its idyllic location and the peace we loved. The uniqueness and experience of staying in a yurt was great and luxurious. We felt utterly spoiled and it was a fantastic stay- cation. We will certainly be going back.

From the host
Oakvale is completely off grid. We have our own solar power supply and our water comes from a borehole and is filtered on site. We try to reduce our impact on the environment and recycle/upcycle where possible. Off grid doesn’t have to mean basic and we have done our best to provide a truly luxurious glamping experience. Oakvale is not a farm. The site features hedges and trees and a grassy wildflower meadow, which is home to the yurt and hut ensembles. At the bottom of the hill is a small lake that is visited by many birds and filled with many fascinating creatures, however, there are no fish in it due to a visiting otter! Adjacent to the lake is an area of wetland and a stream runs alongside. We are working very hard to preserve the wildlife on the site and to encourage more to come. Glamping at Oakvale is all about connecting with nature and feeling relaxed in a beautiful environment. But, with all the comforts of home and extra little touches your stay feel really special!
Nearby attractions
Llanachaeron National Trust property (01545 570200) – a Georgian villa, organic farm, walled-garden, lake and woodland walk – is only 20 minutes away. The woods and gardens are free to visit and dogs (on leads) are welcome in the woodland and parkland walks. You can walk along a disused railway to the scenic coastal town of Aberaeron, and the pretty harbour town of New Quay is within a 30-minute drive – boasting fabulous views of Cardigan Bay. Dolphin spotting boat trips are available in the summer from both towns, and they each have a wide variety of places to eat out. A little further on is Aberystwyth with its pier and funicular cliff railway. You can also catch the huffing and puffing Vale of Rheidol Railway (01970 625819) steam train through the Welsh countryside to the famous Devil’s Bridge Falls (01970 890233). Closer to home, the countryside lanes around the site are very quiet and perfect for a stroll to admire the scenery.
Food and drink
Full kitchen facilities are right next to the yurt, plus a fire-pit for roasting marshmallows. Lampeter is just 10 minutes away and has a variety of independent shops, cafés, deli’s and restaurants – along with 2 supermarkets for supplies. Lloyds Fish and Chip Shop (01570 422366) is regularly voted 'Number 1 Fish and Chip Shop in Wales', whilst The Shapla Tandoori (01570 422076) also comes highly recommended. Mulberry Bush Wholefoods (01570 423317) has a café upstairs with a great veggie menu. Aberaeron is 30 minutes away and has a nice selection of restaurants: The Hive (01545 570445) and the Harbour Master (01545 570755) are both right by the harbour and popular with locals.
