Family-sized safari lodges on the edge of the Malvern Hills with acres of space and a 500-year-old pub right next door

“Home comforts with the great outdoors right on your doorstep”, is how Charlotte Taylor succinctly describes her family-run glamping site, set amid the saplings of a young perry apple orchard at the foot of the Malvern Hills. “No rushing to the supermarket or squeezing in towels and bedding. Everything is here”.

The 17-acre rural patchwork of meadows, hedgerows and glistening natural ponds certainly seem to cater to every need. The farm pantry sells everything, from local beer and homemade cakes to olives and sausages, while the glamping accommodation itself comprises a pair of family-sized safari tents each with an upstairs mezzanine level, as fully equipped kitchen, sofas and proper beds. Throw in the bikes that are available to rent and the family-friendly pub right next door and you quickly realise there’s not a thing that you could want for. In fact, apples and pears from the fledgling orchard will eventually be used to create the farm’s very own homemade cider and perry. Then even the pub will be surplus to requirements!

Of course, a glamping sites needs to offer more than just a place to bed down for the night. Up Sticks also matches its comfortable accommodation with bucket loads of charm and the attention to detail is exceptional. Fluffy towels are ready in your private bathroom, there’s a breakfast pack provided for your first morning and a glass of cool white wine awaits you in the fridge. The twinkle of the fairy lights that thread around the safari lodges and walkways gives an almost other worldly feel whilst the woodburner and Kadai fire pit cast a warm glow across the canvas as the sun goes down.

When you do break the spell and head out to explore, the Malvern Hills – a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – the footpaths and mountain biking trails are the most obvious way to start (with onsite wash-down facilities for bikes and boots on your return). The rivers Severn and Wye await for paddling downstream or a quiet picnic.

Not that you need to leave the campsite to get close to nature. You can help chop wood for the campfire, use the bug kits in your safari lodge to hunt for miniature wildlife in the pond or pet the rare breed sheep and pygmy goats, collect eggs from the hens, and tend your own little vegetable patch by the lodge.

Perfect getaway and relaxation

Went as a couple in October and worth every penny! From a warm welcome to all the little touches and thoughtful extras to make an October stay under canvas so warm and homely. I have never enjoyed camping so was initially reserved but this was a whole new level of loving outdoors! We cooked breakfast on the open fire with a glorious sunrise back drop, spent every evening in the hot tub under the stars and with hot water bottles and electric blankets provided, alongside the wood burning stove, we were never cold. It really was a lovely stay and one we intend to repeat. I wish we had something like this when our children were younger as they would have loved it!

Fantastic relaxing break

We stayed at Up Sticks over October half term and cannot recommend it enough. It was the perfect break to sit back, relax and take in the fresh air. Plenty of space for the kids to explore. Charlotte made us feel very welcome. Added touches with the welcome hamper and pumpkins ready for carving Would highly recommend Upsticks glamping

Cosy, high quality and total relaxation

We stayed here recently to celebrate a friend's special birthday and could not fault a single thing. The location is perfect, set in countryside being a short drive to walk the beautiful Malvern Hills or use the bikes on offer here if feeling more energetic! The local pub round the corner for home cooked meals was ideal. We enjoyed a weekend of total relaxation. The safari tents are extremely cosy and warm with electric blankets and a wood burner, a hot shower and warm fluffy towels. The beds are so comfy! Everything is provided and alot of care and consideration has clearly gone into making sure you gave everything you need and extra. Lots of personal touches and is spotlessly clean. We spent hours in the hot tub in the sunshine and under the millions of stars. We believe you would struggle to beat glamping of this quality and we will certainly be returning.

A beautiful setting with incredible luxuries

We stayed for my birthday and can honestly and sincerely say it was so memorable and we will definitely be returning. Incredible and personable hosts, the tents were so spacious and even for this time of year very warm and heated up quickly. The welcome brownie was my favourite and a bottle of wine chilling in the fridge was a lovely touch after a long drive. A great place for both families and couples it really has it all to escape the reality of the real world for a few days! Highly recommend and look forward to coming back

We stayed for 2 days at the beginning of October, the weather may not have been the best but the experience definitely made up for this! From the moment we arrived we were greeted and taken for a tour around our tent before unpacking. The small touches that were added were lovely, a welcome cake and bottle of bubbly to start our holiday off the right way, and the log burner had already been started to make sure we were warm when we arrived! The hosts could not have been more helpful, even lighting our hot tub for us when we were struggling!! We even received a basket of warm pastries in the morning which were delicious! The tent and other facilities were very impressive and kitted out with everything you could need, even our dogs had beds and crates to keep them cosy! This was definitely a great weekend break and we cant wait to be back next year for longer next time!!!!

Absolutely wonderful

Thank you for my first ever Glamping experience! The hosts were just so lovely and helpful. I loved every minute from arriving until we left. The tents are great, the heated blankets were so needed and amazing in cooler temperatures. The hot tub is such a wonderful addition to the whole experience. It’s so quiet and peaceful. My dog loved running in the fields so safe and secure. Loved loved loved my stay! And have booked again for 2021.

Great Experience in a Wonderful Location!

Loved our week at Up Sticks Glamping, Charlotte and Steve were friendly and helpful, they really made us feel welcome. The safari tent was impressive - it’s bigger than it looks in the photos! Really well equipped and really pleasant place to spend time. A great place in a wonderful part of the UK. Would definitely recommend!

Hi Both,
so pleased you had a lovely break, the tents are big, always good to have a bit of space. Glad you enjoyed our little corner of England.

A thousand thanks

Absolutly amazing

Stayed for two nights in the middle of September with husband and three kids and everyone had a great time. Owners couldn't be more friendly and helpful and the site is well thought out and beautiful. Wood fired hot tub and lit up boardwalks at night to the luxurious bathroom made for a magical stay. Kids really enjoyed feeding the animals and playing on the zipwire. Local area is stunning to explore with the Malvern Hills on the doorstep. We had a fabulous stay and are looking forward to visiting again. Thanks again! Hayley, Philip, Leonard, Sylvie and Rowan x

Truly relaxing

Had a wonderful stay, can’t thank our hosts enough. Very friendly staff, beautiful location & excellent attention to detail. The tent was well stocked, thoughtful welcome hamper was a nice touch & fun pantry on site. Would definitely recommend for a peaceful & fun stay with wonderful walks near by

Everything we hoped for

I can't recommend up sticks glamping enough. The lodge is perfect for a relaxing and fun holiday experience. The owners are lovely and can't do enough to make sure your stay is perfect. The farm grounds are very well kept and the three tents are very well spaced so there was lots of privacy, we felt like we were there alone. It's a great place to go with dogs, you can take them for a run around in many of the gated fields that surround the camp, why are also owned by the farm. The glamping tents were in brilliant condition and super cosy. I was especially impressed with how luxurious and cosy a bathroom was when camping. We can't wait to come again!

Wonderful; we will definitely go back.

We had an incredibly enjoyable stay at upsticks glamping. The facilities are really well thought out and fully equip - you don’t even really realise you are in a tent! Charlotte and the team have thought of everything to keep us, and the dog, entertained and comfortable - comfy hammock, cozy fires, hot tub and even a bed for the dog. Lovely personal touches on arrival - freshly baked cake & bread as well as a lovely welcome hamper of wine, eggs, crisps, milk, marshmallows and juice. As well as great locally sourced produce available to buy on site for the bbq. Everything you need to switch off and relax - and the pub is also less than a 5 minute walk away! What more could you want. 👍

Calm oasis away from it all

We had a fabulous stay at upsticks. The weather was on our side, but even if it wasn't there is plenty to do in the vicinity. We were there with our 2 yr old daughter and Charlotte and the team have thought of everything to keep kids entertained - games, books, zip wire not to mention the farm animals and daily farm life happening in the surrounding fields. There is plenty to keep the adults occupied too, hot tub, hammock, cozy fires and views as well as a pub few minutes walk along the road. If you want to get away, not think about life and just unwind this is the place for you.

This was our first glamping trip and our first trip since lockdown so it was particularly special! We were made to feel so welcome and safe; this is a beautiful site and they have thought of everything. Beds were super comfy, kitchen area well equipped, hot tub a real treat and the welcome pack wonderful, particularly the homemade brownies. The only problem with this site is they are totally booked up for this summer!! The local pub is a real bonus, it is stumbling distance and food is good, again a safe pub to visit in this difficult time.

An utterly magic holiday - perfection

Within seconds of arrival, all 12 of us (six adults, six children) realised what a fantastic decision we'd made to book two safari tents at Up Sticks, and that first impression was only cemented throughout our stay. All of the details in the description are correct, so I won't waste time enumerating the amenities (other than to say that the heated mattress covers are ace and that the knives in the kitchens are actually sharp, which I have never experienced in a self-catering accommodation). Instead, I'll say that the children were completely carefree, which was a delight to watch. We enjoyed amazing meals cooked over the big fire pits and in well-appointed kitchens, and we drank bourbon in the hot tub. On the last night, which was clear, the sky was free of artificial light, and we saw Jupiter and its moons, a shooting star, and the space station. Joy and relaxation and freedom radiate from our photographs. All of us were constantly voicing our gratitude and wonder about how good it felt to be there - not just Up Sticks, but also the lovely pub that lay just a stone's throw away, and the gorgeous Malvern Hills, which we explored using the high-quality rental bikes provided. We were aware that we were repeating ourselves, but as is always the case when you fall a bit in love, you find that it's rather hard to stop talking about it. Huge thanks to Up Sticks for helping us experience such a rare and beautiful idyll at a moment when unadulterated joy is hard to come by.

Luxury under canvas

We were lucky enough to manage to go after 4 months of Lockdown. The experience was much needed. The owners made us very welcome. The tent had been steam cleaned and was immaculate, with hand gels and all you needed for your stay so to not worry about what was happening around you. We loved the hot tub, the log burner and the barby. I would recommend the barby pack which you can order in advance, it’s great value! Charlotte (the host ) was very informative and couldn’t be more obliging. The scenery around you is perfect and the local pub was a bonus. We will definitely be going back. Thankyou ‘ up sticks’ for a wonderful little break.

We stayed as two groups of six over a weekend for a 30th birthday. Everything about the weekend was fantastic. The hosts made us feel very welcome - from welcome hampers to advice on scenic walks. A real sense that they've gone the extra mile to ensure it really is a 'glamorous' experience. We'll definitely be back!

Cosy, comfy and so much fun

The safari tent was immaculate! We stayed as a group of six at the end of October and couldn't have felt more cosy and pampered. So many board games to choose from, wonderful wood fire and the bathrooms are gorgeous! Really great time had by all - thank you!

Family's first glamping experience!

We had a briliant first glamping experience at Up Sticks staying for 4 nights over October Half term. Charlotte welcomed us warmly and there were delicious home meade brownies waiting for us in the tent. The kitchen had everything you might need for preparing meals in, linens were fresh and clean and towels were fluffy. Both my 6 year old and 3 year old loved the set up of the tent with their own den up a ladder above the bedrooms. They kept their toys up there keeping the main living space clear. There is plenty to do around the area and we got inspiration for days out from the handy visitors guide in the tent with tips on how to work the fire. Puzzlewood and Clearwell Caves were the favourite excusions but there is plenty for the kids to do on-site from getting up close to the sheep to the games room with plenty of bits to keep them occupied. For the nights we didn't cook we walked to the Farmer Arms with our torches and drove to the Robin Hood nearby. All in all a really lovely holiday, I have already recommended it to my friends.

Perfect in every way.

We stayed only 2 nights this time to walk some of the Malvern hills, fabulous place to stay quiet, relaxing, very comfy and homely, wanted for nothing it was all there. The pantry was an added bonus we tried some delicious lamb steaks and cooked them on the fire. Having your own luxury bathroom was fab hot towels to dry you after a very wet walk whilst really staying in a tent!!!! Not heard of in my 40 years of camping. We visited Ledbury a lovely historic town only a short drive, lots of little boutique shops an plenty of places to eat or drink. There really is nothing negative to say only our stay was too short.

We loved our experience here

The owners are really lovely and friendly and have created a really wonderful space. We were blown away by all the things provided which are included in the price of the tent. The area is really beautiful too and great to explore. The toilet and shower are really nice and each tent has their own private ones. :)

Idyllic place and wonderful stay

We were warmly welcomed on arrival and shown around. Our bathroom was beautiful and was well stocked with towels, toiletries and a hair dryer. The bathroom was on a walkway (that is lit by fairylights at night) to our safari tent (ragged stone). We were the furthest away, at the end of the site, by the hot tub and we loved it. It was so quiet with surrounding fields with horses and sheep. I thought it had the best location. All the amenities you would need were in the tent and a welcome pack that included fresh bread, muffins, eggs, crisps, milk, juice and wine which was a wonderful touch. The beds were comfortable and the hot water bottles were lovely. The fireplace and fire pit were lots of fun to use. The hot tub did need warming for a long time before using and we got into it quite late as a result but it was lots of fun! It did get dark quite quickly so we wondered if fairy lights by it would be good by this. The only other thing is there was a family next door and even with well behaved children it generated quite a bit of noise and there were two adult-only groups either side. This spoilt the ambience a bit for us but we agreed it was also a place that would be a lot of fun for children. A fabulous place to stay with everything you would need, with a wonderfully relaxing, rustic feel. The tents were fantastic and we wouldn't change a thing. This place would be great for big groups as well. Thank you for a wonderful stay- we hope to be back!

Professional, Personal and Passionate Service and Experience

This is our 2nd stay and the first with Haydn in charge. 100% consistency in all aspects of our last visit with the added bonus of our 7 year old boy becoming best friends with Haydn and even helping out light the hot water tub. It is truly the most relaxing and back to nature experience but with all the home comforts added in as a bonus!. Can also recommend the friendly welcome and superb home cooked food at the nearby Farmers Arms. So a BIG THANKS and WELL DONE from the Hayward family.

Fantastic Holiday !

This was our first glamping experience as we usually pack up our tent and try and cram everything in the car bar the kitchen sink ! However, after a busy year we decided that we would like to camp but with all the hard work taken out. We were not disappointed. The tents were lovely and comfortable with lots of blankets to keep cosy in the evenings. They are equipped with everything you need and the private shower room is a lovely luxury. We enjoyed cooking over the fire pit and toasting marshmallows. The owners are really welcoming and very helpful. We would definitely like to stay again.

We will be back

Fantastic place to go glamming. Nothing was too much trouble for Haydn and the team with every comfort you can think of included. It was my 60th birthday and we took 8 couples with us. Everyone absolutely loved the place and had so much fun that I have already been asked to organise a re-union. The attention to detail made our stay all the more enjoyable. Highly recommend, I know we will be back.

Fabulous week at Up Sticks

We’ve just returned from the best week at Up Sticks. The tents were beautiful and so well equipped. They had everything you could need and the private bathroom was nicer than the one we have at home! Our two boys (5 and 4) are already asking when we can return. They had an absolute blast and there’s so much to do in the area. Haydn, Charlotte and Steve were amazing hosts who couldn’t do enough to ensure the stay was memorable. We’ll definitely be back again next year.

A Great Break

Just had a great few days break at the Up Sticks Glamping site. Have stayed at a number of fixed tent sites in the UK and this was by far the best. The location, attention to detail and the atmosphere of the site is great. Would highly recommend for people to attend and enjoy the experience.

Relaxed atmosphere, easy glamping

The best part of this is looking out in the evening, glass of (complimentary) English wine in hand, onto the fields in front. Blissfully peaceful and quiet, only the sounds of nature and the farm. Upsticks has a laidback approach to glamping yet almost everything we needed was there. The beds were so comfortable, the marshmallows were a nice wee touch and the bathroom was the reason we did glamping not camping! The lights on the path to the bathroom were lovely. We will absolutely recommend Upsticks to our friends. Thank you, Haydn and Steve!

Peaceful, well equipped, secluded glamping

Up Sticks Glamping - all of the joy of being outdoors, none of the hassle. A warm welcome, informative, friendly, no fuss. Two of us in a safari tent equipped for 6... so much space. The tent is well equipped, the bed is very comfortable, the facilities are excellent. Only 3 tents so it's a peaceful site, essentially quiet, notwithstanding the charming and accomplished birdsong all day long. Basic supplies available at the Larder but if you want someone to cook your supper, then there's pub food 20 yards down the lane. Up Sticks is a great place to bring a family but it proved to be a very happy space for two.

Fantastic short break in the rain

Loved our little break in the rain at Upsticks. The tents are great - spacious and really well equipped. We loved the decor and attention to detail. The owners really have thought of everything! We were very impressed with the included wine, cake, milk and juice and the pantry was well stocked with extras to buy. We ate at the farmers arms both nights which was less than 5 mins walk away, friendly staff and hearty food. The farm is a lovely peaceful spot and our toddler had a great time splashing about in the mud. We had a brilliant time in the rain, can’t wait to visit again in the sunshine!

What an outstanding experience!!

We stayed for 2 nights at ragged stone tent, what an amazing set up, fabulous hosts and all the little touches are what made it great. Nothing was too much trouble. This is a true glamping experience but at the top of the scale!

Lovely site, just a few minor improvements needed

We had a lovely 3 night stay at Up Sticks - the tents were a great size and well kitted out, the site was clean and tidy, the hosts were friendly and helpful (Steve & his son - we didn’t meet Charlotte) - but there were a few obvious things that could have been done to improve it. Firstly, our shower drain was almost completely blocked - this must have been apparent when the shower was cleaned! The lighting to the bathroom did not go all the way - when our daughter went in the muddle if the night she fell off the walkway. The sign outside on the road was hard to read at night. A few other equally minor improvements would make it stunning ... attention to detail needed!

A beautiful and tranquil break

We had a really lovely, peaceful, relaxing break with our daughters. The little extras and thought behind everything, is just lovely, from the welcome hamper, décor, condiments supplied and the way the bathroom is presented. We loved the fairy lights, the boardwalk to the bathroom, seeing the duck and chickens en-route and the pantry to buy the little treats from. The kids absolutely loved the den and just how cosy it was. Was also loved being able to walk down the road to the local pub and using the very unusual hot tub! Would thoroughly recommend this place!

Fantastic accommodation in beautiful scenery

We really enjoyed the 3 nights we spent at Chase End last week. It was the end of our 2 week camping holiday and the safari tent was a little bit of luxury in beautiful surroundings. Charlotte and Steve provided us with everything we needed. We had a warm welcome with home made cake, eggs, milk, fresh bread, fruit juice and wine. We enjoyed the posh marshmallows too! The kids enjoyed playing and running about in the great outdoor space. There were toys and an entertainment box provided so really everything we could wish for! Thanks so much for having us will definitely recommend you!

One of our favourite holidays!

My family just spent 2 nights at UpSticks. Thenkids aged 2 and 4 thoughtit was loads of fun! Loads of space to run, cycle and play. Bbq area was really big and the bathrooms were gorgeous! The farm is clean and the hosts were so accommodating and friendly letting the kids feed the animals and help us when needed! The tents had everything you could need and were clean, comfortable and beautifully decorated Can’t wait to go back! Really loved it - thanks

Ah thank you so much for visiting us, so pleased you had a great time - we look forward to welcoming you again soon.

A wonderful, relaxing spot wit hfabulous hosts.

We stayed for a weekend at Upsticks in the Chase End tent and had a fabulous time. Charlotte and Steve have thought of everything. The tents are so well equipped from the little touches like the vase of freshly cut flowers to the cosy blankets, lovely local coffee, bread and jam and even a homemade cake on our arrival. We were made to feel very welcome and Charlotte and Steve were on hand to help steer us for walks, and places to eat. The kids loved riding around on the collection of bikes available, playing cricket in the field and even doing the orienteering challenge! We'd love to come back.

Amazing experience

We had such a brilliant time at Upsticks! We’ll be back and for longer next time. The tents are amazing. So well designed and so many lovely touches like homemade bread and delicious cakes on arrival plus cosy blankets and extra cushions throughout. The kitchen is very well equipped and the bedrooms super comfy. The bathrooms are excellent too. The location is superb with many beautiful areas to explore. The kids loved all the animals on the farm especially fudge the cat and collecting the chickens eggs in the morning. Steve and Charlotte were fantastic hosts too and made us feel so welcome. We had a delicious meal next door at the pub too. Even after two days we felt very relaxed. Can’t recommend upsticks highly enough!

Hi there, so pleased you enjoyed your stay with us, and managed to chill. We'd love to have you stay longer, just drop us a line. We'll have more hens and eggs to collect and fudge will always come and say hello!

Perfect hosts, fab accommodation

I organised a camping themed hen party at Upsticks and Charlotte, the host, was always on point and couldn’t do enough to help. A wonderful selection of goodies were left in the tent for us upon arrival. Great quality bedding, kitchen wares etc. Beautifully presented and well thought out tents and bathrooms. Something broke during our stay (not our fault, just unfortunate!). I informed Charlotte at 10am. By the time we returned at 1pm it was fixed. We really didn’t expect this at all. I can’t praise Charlotte enough.

Cosy, Comfortable and Luxurious

We had a wonderful few days staying here this October. The Safari tents are fabulous, with high ceilings, three bedroom areas, one of which is a mezzanine, which my daughter loved, and two of which are proper bedrooms, all with very comfortable beds and thick fluffy duvets. We were very warm as we had the wood burner, and the electric radiator as an occasional top up, as well as hot water bottles, even though we didn't really need them, they were a lovely touch. The kitchen area was incredibly well equipped and the breakfast pack of delicious local meat, bread and eggs was very welcome. One of the best things was the lovely bathroom, individual to each tent. We will certainly be back.

Hi Nicola,so pleased you enjoy your glamping trip with us. I hope to see you again next year.

A little gem in the world of glamping

I am not now, nor ever will be, a happy camper. The thought of spending nights under canvas in a field fills me with dread. Suffice to say that when my wife booked a glamping holiday for us and our four children, I was less than impressed with the idea. That is of course, until we arrived... Though we may of been the first guests to stay, I'm certain we won't be the last. The "tent" if you can call it that harks of something out of Africa. Big comfortable beds and quality duvets ensure a good night's sleep. Leather sofa, log burner and a hob adds some home comforts to the camping experience and the dab radio is a nice bonus. Our older children absolutely loved sleeping on the mezzanine together and at no point did we feel cramped (even though there were six of us) The welcome basket with a selection of treats on arrival is a nice touch. The meats and bread available from the hosts are sublime, even catering for gluten intolerance. I must mention the brioche buns are a must for those of us more able to eat bread. Top it with the hosts delicious chocolate spread and you're on to a winner. So, has my experience warmed me to the idea of camping? I don't think so. No. Would I go back to upticks? Absolutely! In fact we've already booked our return and I can honestly say that we will back further into the future to see how it grows. My advice to anyone reading this review. Book a break here and you won't be disappointed.
