About Pennlake Vale
Glampers, couples, families, dogs – yes. Campers, campervans, motorhomes, caravans – no.
The English Heritage-owned Witley Court (01299 896636) is the big attraction here. The main Witley Gardens Car Park is a mere quarter of a mile from Pennlake Vale, the benefit of which is that you can walk there easily from the site (down the lane and then there's a pavement beside the short stretch of A443) and you don't have to pay for any parking. Alongside the ruins of one of England’s grandest country houses – a great Italianate mansion designed, in part, by John Nash – the heritage site also has a wilderness play area, a tearoom and magnificent formal gardens. Families looking further afield may want to head to the West Midlands Safari Park (11 miles away) or Wyre Forest (10 miles) where there’s bike hire, mountain-biking, horse-riding, nature trails and Go Ape! treetop adventure. The cathedral city of Worcester is around 11 miles away.
Food & Drink
There are no notable pubs or restaurants within easy walking distance (aside from the Witley Court tearooms). The Bell at Pensax (01299 896677) is the place to head for a pint of real ale with your dinner, while The Elms Hotel and Spa (01299 896666) offers sophisticated afternoon teas and dinners – both are around four miles from site.

Stunning location to relax and unwind
Not a camper and never been glamping so wasn’t sure what to expect or if we would like it. Chose Pennlake for the privacy, views, location and because we had a double and 2 single beds and the dog could join us. My parents also came. We were apprehensive initially but soon relaxed around the fire pit with some music and a drink or two. The beds were extremely comfortable with nice duvets, variety of pillows and blankets. Had all the necessities you could want. Nigel was very friendly and welcoming and checked we had everything. The dog has had a fantastic time running around with all the freedom. Lots of nature and wildlife we saw the ducks, swans, herion, sheep, rabbits, birds or prey, various other birds such as wag tails, robins and an owl at night. I would recommend taking some flip flops to wear in the shower as the mats are great as you don’t slip but feel strange under your feet. Highly recommend the Mason arms pub as well. To sum it up we all enjoyed our stay, two adults, two OAP’s, Two teenagers and one worn out dog. We aren’t really campers but wanted to try something different and new. It hasn’t put us off!
Superb! A lovely break from the ordinary and a perfect set up
I'm not a camper...or a glamper but I really enjoyed my time at Pennlake. There isn't anything left to chance or anything that Nigel can't find for you. The tent is amazing with comfortable beds, gorgeous linen and all the stuff you don't want to have to pack like a toaster, a small fridge, kettle, plates, cutlery and there is even tea and sugar there for you. Ample wood is provided and little disposable BBQ's to cook on if you don't trust balancing your food on the fire pit grill. It's super quiet with only one other tent and we were lucky to meet lovely people. Dogs are welcome and have so much to smell and do - our dog is exhausted from all the running. Now for the important points for non campers....the loos! Great. Clean, Private and, did I mention clean?? The shower worked perfectly - hot water, private, clean and within 10 metres of your tent. It's all good, I highly recommend it.
Lovely set up, quiet, well equipped, fab host.
Idyllic location and exceptional service
Idyllic location nestled in rolling countryside. 2 bell tents at the side of a lake. All well equipped, clean and comfortable. Pre arrival advice and helpfulness during stay were exceptional. We stayed two nights and could have stayed more. Would definitely like to go back.

Loved it, even in April with cold nights!
The tent, the beds, and views all great. Definitely a 'glamping' experience as there is a lovely welcome hamper for you on arrival with a couple of drinks, torch, toilet rolls, tea/coffee/sugar, matches and games etc in there. Can cook on fire pit and on top of the fire inside which has pans on top of it. And there is already plates, cutlery, cups and some utensils there, so you don't have worry about packing those bits. The eco toilet is great. The shower is a work in progress, but it was all very new when we went and we could see they were working hard to make everything perfect. I would recommend. Whitley court is literally over the road and lovely. We ate one evening at the Holt Fleet, also highly recommend there too.
