Glamping pods at the foot of Malvern Hills, surrounded by fishing lakes and wildlife
Sometimes campers want accommodation that matches the natural beauty of their surroundings. While the DIY feel of pitching your own tent and creating your own spot in the great outdoors is unrivalled, it's certainly not for everyone, and even seasoned campers need to take a break every now and then for a truly restful getaway. Enter Bluebell Retreat Glamping, which provides three wooden pods with a rustic aesthetic that perfectly complement the woodland they're nestled within. For those who want the idyllic views and the sprawling walks without the unwashed hair and rough sleeping, this trio of pods within their own private meadow provide the ideal mixture of seclusion and comfort.

Bluebell Retreat is situated at the foot of the iconic Malvern Hills, overlooking a pond and the surrounding commons. The quaint pods feature a double bed situated in front of a windowed doorway that opens out onto the meadow; open your curtains in the morning and be immediately greeted by the Worcestershire woodland. Each pod's decking allows for relaxed bistro dining, where you can enjoy your morning coffee situated among the local wildlife, including adorable muntjac and pheasants.

If visiting in a group of six, you will have the site all to yourselves, with you able to enjoy your surroundings exclusively with your small group. While ideal for a couples' retreat (no kids under the age of 14 are allowed), it's also something of an angling hotspot. The six Leigh Sinton Coarse Fishing Lakes that encircle the site let you cast your hook for a small fee. Clean off from a day of reeling in some big catches in the modern and stylish washroom, tucked away behind some trees in a minute's walk from the site, with the heated shower and flushing toilet in its plush interior being a far cry from the typical portaloos and compost toilets you typically find in a campsite.

But while Bluebell Retreat may feel so embedded within the Malvern countryside that it could be in the middle of nowhere, there's plenty to see and do nearby. Take a trip to the Malvern Hills, a three-mile walk from the site, and embark on the End to End linear walk that encompasses all of its summits. Visit the Malvern Theatre in the titular spa town for a spot of arts and culture, or visit the Grade I-listed Great Malvern Priory to learn of its history. Or, failing all of that, take a 20-minute walk and sink a few in the local Royal Oak pub, before tucking into a wood-fired pizza from the outdoor The Old Dough Hook van.

Facilities

There are three pods for guests, each with beds and an included duvet, fitted sheet, and pillows. The beds a king-size, double, and twin, so guests have a choice between the three. Each pod boasts a quiet fridge along with a kettle with two cup. A mirror, fan, electric heater, and dustpan and brush are also included, along with an umbrella for rainy days (that hopefully never come). Outdoor sitting is available in the small decked area each pod is equipped with. There are three electric points for charging your phones and other electronic devices.

There is a kitchen and washroom located within the woodland that's just a short, one-minute walk away from your pod. This features two flushing toilets and two stylish tiled showers. It's high-end fare compared to your typical camping washroom, so all you'll need to bring is your towels and toiletries. The kitchen area provides a microwave, toaster, an additional communal fridge, plates, cups, and cutlery enough for six guests.

Suitable For

Glamping for up to six guests - yes. Children (under 14), dogs, camping, campervans, motorhomes, and caravans - no.

Lovely peaceful retreat and great walking!

Had a 3-night stay at Bluebell Retreat and highly recommend it! It's a really peaceful setting with 3 pods, so no overcrowding, and plenty of wildlife on or around the site, including chickens, frogs, dragonflies, and bats flying through the trees after dark. The pods are fantastic, with comfy double beds, a fridge, kettle and plug sockets, and the shower/toilet facilities very close by are very comfortable and modern. Each pod having its own barbecue outside is a really useful touch. The owners, Deb & Ian are lovely and keen to help, but you are also free to just enjoy the tranquil setting without being bothered. The site is in a great location. The lovely town of Great Malvern and its famous hills can be reached on foot down the country lanes and footpaths in about an hour, or by car in 15 minutes. There is also a lovely pub just 20 minutes walk away, and no shortage of lovely towns and villages within 20 minutes drive or so. Overall, Bluebell Retreat really exceeded our expectations, and we wouldn't hesitate to go back or to recommend it to others.
