About Gilcombe Glamping

Suitable For

Gilcombe Glamping is for glamping guests only (dogs are not permitted) but the glamping is set in a separate area within a wider campsite, Brunton Meadow Campsite, which does welcome campers with tents, campervans and caravans.

Gilcombe Glamping is five minutes from the charming town of Bruton, where local attractions include The Stourhead Estate and Alfred’s Tower, both around 15 minutes away in the car. With its Palladian architecture and world-famous landscape garden, The Stourhead Estate (01747 841152) feels as if you're stepping back in time and has featured in such films as Pride and Prejudice. King Alfred’s Tower, on the edge of the estate, is 49 metres tall and steeped in history, named after King Alfred and commemorating George III’s accession in 1760. The Hauser and Wirth gallery (01749 814060) is also nearby around (five minutes' drive from Gilcombe), home to world-class art and architecture and a multi-purpose arts centre. You’re also not far from Longleat Safari Park, perfect for a family day out at 20-minutes away. For slightly longer trips, the town of Bath is 40-minutes north of the campsite and Glastonbury Tor is 25-minutes west.

Food & Drink

From the freshest produce, Gilcombe Farm has its own superb farm shop, a five-minute stroll from the glamping site. For anything else, it takes around half an hour to walk into Bruton (or drive in under five minutes), where The Roth Bar and Grill (01749 814700) has daily changing menus and source seasonal produce from their own walled garden and local producers. The Chapel (01749 814070) is als a good bet, both as a place to dine but also as a bakery with fresh pastries and sourdough donuts to take out with you for the day’s exploring. Tiny Osip (01749 813322) is home to one of Britain’s youngest Michelin-starred chefs and makes the perfect choice if you’re looking as much for an experience as you are a place to dine. Two of the best pubs in the village are The Sun Inn (01749 813493) and The Castle Inn, which has a log-burning stove and a diverse live music schedule. Matt's Kitchen, also in the village, serves delicious 'no nonsense' homely food and has a relaxed BYO policy.

Amazing Glamping Trip

Highly recommend Gilcombe Glamping Experience. Such a joy to experience this and breath fresh air. The tents are well equiped and very comfortable. Local farm shop was amazing and local produce was at an exceptional level.

Really good experience

Really good hosts, very welcoming and available to answer any questions or provide assistance when needed. In general facilities were great, tents were fantastic, hot water showers and washing up tap were generally ok and any hiccups with them were quickly resolved by the hosts. Farm shop was well stocked and staff were really friendly and helpful - also quite reasonably priced compared with some other farm shops I've been to. All in all, very happy with the experience and would definitely recommend.

Beautiful location

Very welcoming hosts and stunning location. All queries answered, extremely helpful, and our tables were set up for us to share with our friends in the next tent along which was a nice touch. Hot showers, own loo albeit basic in comparison to others we’ve stayed in. The tents are spacious, room for a family of four, and warm on cold nights. Really pretty design. Kitchen: single gas ring to put on the table and if we came back I’d bring our full camping kitchen just to have a few more things and somewhere to put them. The rest of the campsite is over the crest of the hill and so no noise noticed. There are 12 belle tents quite close together which may be a consideration for some people. Shepherds hut set up to serve bacon rolls and coffees etc and the farm shop on the opposite side of the road also does a frothy coffee and fresh produce. Thank you!
