Russet Yurt is a luxury en-suite yurt set on a large raised sawn larch deck on a beautiful secluded farm in West Dorset. With a super king vi-spring bed, a luxurious en-suite with a piping hot shower, a proper flushing loo and a sink with a backlit light above, Russet offers you a truly luxurious glamping experience you won't forget.

The Owner Says

Russet sits in its own private paddock above the farm, enclosed by a long sweeping living willow fence. You have your own private sawn larch deck to the front of the yurt with a table and chairs to sit and enjoy long lazy meals or a good book - the views of the sunset over the hill are not to be missed! Below the yurt on the grass is a copper fire bowl with a barbecue grill for creating the most wonderful barbecued food, or for just setting up a campfire in style!

A superking vi-spring divan bed will ensure an unforgettable nights sleep - not to mention the lofty White Company duvets and bedlinen and stacks of pillows. An electric blanket will keep you cozy on the chillier nights, with independent controls to ensure that if two people are sharing the bed, you can each choose your warmth! The bedside tables are crafted from an Alder tree that was felled less than 100 m from the yurt. Behind the bedside table you will find a double socket with a USB charger and a bedside light. There is also another socket behind the dining table opposite the bed, with two newly upholstered and very comfortable dining chairs.

There is a double sofa bed with the most fabulous array of Moroccan and Indian cushions. It is very comfortable and even turns into a bed if you choose to share your yurt with someone or would like to bring a child, please contact me to discuss this prior to booking.

There is a little Indian tea table with a kettle, mugs, tea and coffee to ensure you can wake up slowly without having to leave the yurt. We don't provide the milk as we can't leave it sitting in the yurt prior to your arrival, however you can usually buy a pint ot two from the honesty shop in the supplies barn near where you park.

The lovingly crafted en-suite bathroom is nothing short of a masterpiece with beautifully soft strip lighting (you'll see what we mean!) and the most wonderful sleek but rustic feel. With a piping hot shower, proper flushing loo and basin with overhead lit mirror, we don't think you could want for more.

Tucked within the Cherry Orchard below Russet, you will find The Walnut Kitchen, which is a fully equipped yurt tucked within the cherry orchard overlooking our south facing valley, a stones throw from the yurt. The Kitchen includes a fridge/freezer, gas range cooker, sink, cupboard space and all the cooking utensils and crockery we think you will need to make it a delight to use. There is a huge copper fire bowl outside the The Walnut Kitchen for barbecues to die for and a campfire afterwards.

We have a wood fired hot tub that you are welcome to use during your stay. It costs £35 per day and we can get it ready for you. We can host a pizza evening in our wood fired pizza oven for you using local ingredients for £15 for adults and £7.50 for children. Both the Hot Tub and Pizza Oven can be booked in advance or once you have arrived.

Glamping only. Tents, campervans, caravans, dogs – no.

Walnut Farm is less than 5 minutes drive to the vibrant market town of Bridport and pretty harbour of West Bay, part of the impressive Jurassic coastline, a ‘World Heritage Site’. There is a scenic coast road running along the back of Chesil Beach that connects Bridport to Weymouth (through Burton Breadstick and the lovely village of Abbotsbury – the Swannary (01305 871858) there is a must-visit.). In the opposite direction past Charmouth (fantastic for fossil hunting) is the small, elegant seaside town of Lyme Regis with its impressive cobb.

Food & Drink

There are plenty of independent food shops in both Bridport and Beaminster and a lovely farm shop at Washingpool Farm (01454 632529). There are also some top fresh fish merchants, including Davy’s Locker (01308 456131) in Bridport and Samways Fish merchants (01308 422201). A great way to enjoy the great Autumn outdoors

We had a lovely few days. Skylark was lovely - the en-suite and electric blankets making a massive difference during wet, windy weather! Highly recommend the pizza and hot tub (with a view!) too. Great location, great way to escape en famille. Some excellent tips from Billy too - we really enjoyed a walk over to Mapperton for lunch and a Halloween trail.

Absolutely lovely

My husband and I have never been glamping before and chose this place for a short getaway. I had high expectations from the photos and in real life it is even more amazing! The grounds were perfectly manicured and the yurt was beautiful! The views are spectacular on the farm and at nearby sights. Molly was so sweet from the beginning to the end. I highly recommend this special little place. It was a bit chilly in late October, so wrap up warm!

Shushhh, don’t tell anyone

Never been glamping before, but after our experience of Walnut Farm, we’ll definitely go again. The photos are lovely, but do not do the setting justice in the rolling hills of the Dorset countryside. The hosts, Nick and Molly couldn’t be anymore helpful. Yurt, bed, bedding, electric blanket, en-suite, shower, towels, kitchen and hot-tub are all of excellent quality. If I could find a fault, it would be the weather during our two day stay, who knew that it might rain at the end of September. Ha, it was brilliant.

Super find # beautiful place

Excellent venue for glamping. Set in beautiful countryside surroundings and so close to so much nature. Fantastic cooking facilities in a kitchen yurt and an amazing wood fired hot tub to relax in. Lovely hosts who really care about their guests. We look forward to visiting again next year.

Tranquil, relaxing and charming.

We were welcomed by Nick as soon as we arrived at Walnut Farm, we were shown around the farm and to our yurt- which was beautiful and such a charming space. The amenities provided were great, and access to the hot tub made our stay. Very child friendly and close to beaches/country parks/heritage sites. Would highly recommend walnut farm to anyone that wishes to have a relaxing break away with or without children.
