Cosy en-suite yurts with acres of space, campfires, a hot tub and wild swimming on site.

There are tricky decisions to be made at Walnut Farm Glamping. Do you want to stay in the well-established Russett Yurt with it’s unbeatable sunset views or do you fancy Pippin which sits above the cherry orchard? Or, perhaps, you’d prefer to lay your head in Bracken which is closest to the lake and handy for wild swimming. The agony of choice is yours to endure when making a booking at this glamping site on a delightfully-named and well-located 12-acre farm site in Dorset.

There are five yurts on site, each with plenty of space and private en-suite facilities. The light canvas structures sit on larch decking with wonderful views, which differ depending on which you choose. But inside, each cosy abode features a similar scene. These are light and airy spaces with exposed wooden latticework criss-crossing its way to the ceiling, crowned in the centre with a circular window that pools in natural light and allows indoor stargazing at bedtime. The furnishings are in keeping with the style – Moroccan-style rugs, a cosy wood-burning stove and hand-carved bedside tables. These lovely rustic touches don't mean Walnut Farm lacks modern comforts though. You'll also find a Nespresso coffee machine and electricity throughout. Then there’s the fancy en-suite bathrooms each with an excellent shower, flushing loo and all the toiletries and towels provided. The whole place is a cocoon of glamping comfort.

You haven’t settled in for long, however, before the view from your yurt’s open doorway draws you out. You can enjoy the scenery while you cook on your campfire or admire it as you swim in the lake. And if cold-water swimming is not your thing, you can always book a dip in the warm waters of the on-site hot tub or stick to exploring on foot. Set within 12-acres of farmland – a maze of fruit trees, streams and paddocks – guests have plenty of space to roam, with several footpaths leading directly from the farm.

The landscape beyond provides countless options too. To the east, you walk through meadows and stroll over bridges to Loscombe Nature Reserve, a haven for birdlife, while to the west there’s the Half Moon pub, an equally short wander away. South, meanwhile, Dorset’s famous Jurassic Coast unfurls before you – it’s around a 10-minute drive in the car – and then there’s the vibrant town of Bridport that stops you along the way (a particularly nice spot to explore if you want shops to hide in during a rain shower).

Options abound and there may be endless choices but at least Walnut Farm solves one decision for you. Where to stay next time you go glamping in Dorset. Ahh, problem solved. Nespresso anyone?

Bracken: Luxury en-suite yurt
Great place to hit reset
Nick & Molly are generous hosts, which really set the great tone and feeling you get from staying at walnut farm. It was great to see all the kids that stayed playing together and running free around the farm. The most comfortable beds, we left feeling rested and rejuvenated.

Bracken: Luxury en-suite yurt
Could do better
Accessible Yurt needs an accessible path running to it, not sloping wet grass. Pleasant experience but hosts need to revisit Glamping concept and ensure that as far as possible everything their guests expect from the site description is there and guest expectations exceeded if possible.

Amazing Weekend at Walnut Farm
We had the most amazing weekend at Walnut Farm, thank you to Molly and her family for making us so welcome. The Yurts are fabulous - everything you could need is provided. Our kids loved it and the best part was being able to swim in the lake! We will be back!!

Bracken: Luxury en-suite yurt
The yurt was brilliant. Bed so comfortable. Kitchen and bathroom better than a lot of hotels. Breakfast was excellent. Lasted 2 days comfortably. So tranquil. Will definitely come again.

From the host
At Walnut Farm we invite you to slow down, relax and enjoy our luxurious glamping experience. We are situated in a truly secluded and tranquil spot in West Dorset on the edge of a nature reserve, where you are guaranteed a unique and peaceful break with spectacular views. Nick and Molly bought the farm in August 2015 and live in the farmhouse, which dates back to the 16th century. The farm land extends to 12 acres and includes a designated ancient orchard called 'Gore Orchard', which is the oldest in the area and dates back to 1930. There is ongoing work to regenerate the ancient orchard, which is bursting with wild animals and flowers (and of course, apple trees!) There are various springs on the farm and they plan to regenerate the land as organically as is practicable. They have planted wild flower meadows below the yurts and would like to add to the already bustling ecology and biodiversity that exists on the farm. You are almost certain to hear the owls, buzzards and woodpeckers that all live in trees surrounding the yurts. It is truly magical - the birdsong can be almost deafening! West Dorset is an area of amazing contrasts, where you can lose yourself in breathtaking scenery, absorb its heritage and history or simply relax in one of the most stunningly beautiful and diverse parts of England. Despite being tucked away in beautiful countryside, our farm is less than 5 minutes drive to the vibrant market town of Bridport and pretty harbour of West Bay, part of the impressive Jurrassic coastline, a 'World Heratige Site', making us perfectly situated to explore this spectacular area. Surrounded by the most idyllic network of footpaths, you can walk directly from the farm for miles. Whether you prefer hiking up hills, sauntering alongside brooks and streams or through nature reserves, there are miles of paths to choose from. There is a meadow at the bottom of the orchard with a natural swimming lake.
Nearby attractions

Walnut Farm is less than five minutes' drive to the vibrant market town of Bridport and pretty harbour of West Bay, part of the impressive Jurassic coastline, a ‘World Heritage Site’. There is a scenic coast road running along the back of Chesil Beach that connects Bridport to Weymouth (through Burton Breadstick and the lovely village of Abbotsbury – the Swannary (01305 871858) there is a must-visit.). In the opposite direction past Charmouth (fantastic for fossil hunting) is the small, elegant seaside town of Lyme Regis with its impressive cobb.

Food and drink
There are plenty of independent food shops in both Bridport and Beaminster and a lovely farm shop at Washingpool Farm (01454 632529). There are also some top fresh fish merchants, including Davy’s Locker (01308 456131) in Bridport and Samways Fish merchants (01308 422201). If you fancy an extravagant meal, try the Hix Oyster and Fish House (01297 446910), the Bull Hotel and Stable (01308 422878), the Bridgehouse Hotel (01308 423371) or, on a sunny day, the Crab House Cafe (01305 788867). For a less formal meal, then check out the Hive Cafe (01308 897070) at Burton Bradstock and the Watch House cafe (01308 459330) at West Bay. The Half Moon pub (01308 488321) is the nearest – within walking distance of the campsite. On a Sunday, the roast at The Three Horseshoes (01308 897259) in Burton Bradstock is tough to top.
