Moonbow Hut (1 at Moonbow Escapes)
The Owner Says
The interior is finished beautifully throughout with oak flooring, windows and shutters, a king-sized bed, bathroom with shower and central heating to compliment the log burning stove. The well-equipped kitchen includes hob, full-sized fridge, and microwave.
A smart tv and Wi-Fi are found at the foot end of the bed.
Luxurious sheets, fluffy towels and bathrobes are all provided.
We have endeavored to maintain the glamping qualities that are expected with a Shepherds Hut experience along with the qualities and refinement of Alfresco living.
A Kirami woodfired hot tub is situated in front of the Hut to help soothe and restore tranquility.
Outside dining and relaxation at any time of the day is enhanced by reclining chairs, table, firepit and bbq. However, to enable full year outside use a covered area with chairs, table, woodburning stove and sink has been installed.
A complimentary bundle of firelighters, kindling, logs and bbq coals are provided. Extra logs and kindling can be ordered and delivered upon request.

About Moonbow Escapes
Glamping only. The hut sleeps two. Camping in your own tent, campervan or caravan is not permitted and this site does not accommodate children, dogs or pets.
Moonbow is pretty much equidistant from the coast and Dartmoor National Park (about 25 minutes' drive to each), so you can take your pick from a day on the beach or walking in the wilds and on the moors. The nearest beaches also happen to be some of the best. Bude, Widemouth Bay and Sandymouth Bay are all hugely popular for surfing, as well as general sun lounging, and there are surf schools where you can hire boards or book lessons if you're new to it. Closer to home there are good local footpaths to explore, with a number of Forestry England and Woodland Trust woods within striking distance of the campsite – there are good trails in Cookbury Woods, just south of Moonbow Escapes, and it's also just a five-minute drive to National Trust-owned Dunsland (01237 441976), where there was once a grand manor house that was burnt down but you can still discover ponds, gardens, coach-houses and the out-buildings of the estate. It's a 10-minute drive to Holsworthy, the nearest sizeable settlement, where there are supermarkets for stocking up and also a local museum (01409 259337).
Food & Drink
It's 10 minutes' to Holsworthy where there's a Waitrose, Co-Op and M&S, as well as a petrol station. The town is also home to several pubs – The Old Market Inn (01409 254666) being perhaps the pick of the bunch – but the closest pub to the campsite is actually the country pub, The Bickford Arms (01409 221318) a couple of miles away. Rebuilt after a fire in 2003, the 17th-century coaching inn has flagstone flooring, low beams, two wood-burning stoves and historic photos of the pub before, during and after the fire. There are real ales on tap and it's well known for its Sunday carveries.

Moonbow Escapes is located at Moonbow Escapes, Clawmoor, Ashwater, Beaworthy, Devon EX21 5DW
Heading from the east or west take the A30 at Exeter (junction 31). Just west of Okehampton, turn off the A30 at Sourton and take the A386 signposted to Holsworthy. At the first mini roundabout take the first exit onto the A3079, again signposted to Holsworthy. Follow this road for eight miles, through the village of Halwill Junction, then past the left turn for Halwill, staying on the A3079. About a mile and a half later, take a left turn at Morecombe Cross, signposted 'Ashwater'. If you miss this junction and reach the T junction with the A3072 then turn back on yourself and take the first right (again, at Morecombe Cross). You are now half a mile from Moonbow Escapes. Carry on down this road until you see the sign on your right. Turn down the track and 200 yards later you will be the Moonbow shepherd's hut.
