Trevalgan Touring Park
Trevalgan Touring Park, Trevalgan, St Ives, Cornwall TR26 3BJ
Spectacular views and a wonderfully peaceful atmosphere, located just two miles from the sandy beaches of St Ives.
Whether you’re a bird, human or semi-aquatic marine mammal, everyone returns to Trevalgan. This family-friendly site is a favourite summer spot for dolphins, seals and peace-loving campers who fall in love with the dramatic north Cornish coastline. Trevalgan Touring Park has a particularly welcoming feel, largely thanks to owners Neil and Annette, who give the site a deserved dose of TLC (and investment): modernising the facilities, adding homely touches and generally being on hand to cheerfully dispense local knowledge.
Trevalgan’s 135 pitches are only a kick of a beach ball from the Cornish coast, albeit a rather big kick! Campers have three options: non-serviced pitches are ideal for basic camping, serviced spots include a 16-amp electric hook-up point, whilst fully serviced pitches come with electricity, a fresh water tap and a water drainage point. The majority of pitches are level with defined access routes for vehicles. Yes, there may be a lot of caravans, but Trevalgan has plenty of space for kids to run free, whilst adults can easily find a quiet corner to kick back and enjoy the nearby coastal scenery.
And what scenery it is. Visitors can choose from safe bathing at Porthminster (which inspired Virginia Woolf’s novel ‘To the Lighthouse’), the award-winning Carbis Bay, or Porthmeor, where surfers flock year after year for the world-class waves. The soft golden sand of this harbour beach is also popular with families, and is a wonderful spot for puddle jumping and splashing at low tide. The former fishing village of St Ives (2 miles) is nowadays a chic holiday destination. The quaint cobbled streets are home to a variety of interesting galleries, cafes and restaurants, all surrounded by glorious beaches and crystal clear waters.
Boasting a rugged coastal footpath, secluded coves and numerous world famous attractions (Land’s End, The Minack Theatre and St Michael’s Mount spring to mind), Trevalgan is ideally situated for families to explore the many delights of the Penwith peninsula. Youngsters may well find this is the place they look back on in years to come and realise that’s where they fell in love with camping.
