The Owner Says

We have three romantic cabins situated in the woodland, ideal for couples or a group of 6 friends. The cabins have proper beds. They are fully insulated, double glazed and fitted with log burning stoves, 2 sockets and a light. You will be warm and cosy all year round. Each cabin has an electric kettle and a deck with barbecue and seating. They do not have running water but there is lovely shower room and an outdoor sink and tap. Enjoy a simpler, slower pace of life. Light the fire in the communal fire pit and gather round or lie in the hammock and contemplate the galaxy.

Please note – this is posh camping not log cabin luxury. You will be warm and cosy but there are no cooking facilities except a kettle and a barbecue and the lovely shower/toilet is shared between the three cabins.

About Dale Farm Holidays

Suitable For

Most of the acommodation sleeps 2 although the cottage can sleep up to 7. Some people book the whole site which accommodates 24 in total. All the accommodation is dog friendly and most child friendly (the treehouse only cannot accommodate children.) Ideal for walkers, cyclists and lovers of the countryside.

Dale Farm is ideally situated for exploring the best of Yorkshire. The village of Hunmanby is known as the gateway to the Yorkshire Wolds beloved by David Hockney. Hop on the Hockney trail to explore the landscapes that inspired some of the great man's work. If you're feeling particularly energetic, why not have a crack at the 79 mile Yorkshire Wolds Way? The farm is a short drive from the magnificent Yorkshire Coastline and the 5 mile sweep of Filey Bay, voted best beach in Britain 2018. The little Edwardian seaside town of Filey is great for sailing and sea fishing. Just south of Filey you will find RSPB Bempton, easily the best place in England to see seabirds, Flamborough head with its famous lighthouse and Bridlington makes for a fun day trip.  Further north up the coast you can visit Scarborough with its castle, amusements and famous spa, the smugglers' village of Robin Hoods Bay and, of course, stunning Whitby with its ruined abbey and tales of Dracula. The North York Moors National Park is practically on the doorstep; you can take a steam train through the park (yes the one where Harry Potter was filmed.) Also in the park, Dalby Forest offers world-class mountain biking trails, plus a Go Ape! (0843 770 3911) high-wire course. If you fancy a day in the city, ancient York is less than an hour away by car or scenic train journey and should not be missed.

Food & Drink

All the accommodation is self-catering but you can order one of Paul's delicious breakfast butties delivered to your door. A mile away in Hunmanby village, you'll find a decent selection of shops, pubs and takeaways including a great fish and chip shop, the Captain's Table and the famous Piebald Inn where you can choose from over 50 varieties of pie! The beach cafe at Hunmanby Gap is a great place to stop for tea and cake after a long day on the beach. Filey has a great selection of restaurants and pubs including the tiny Cobblers' Arms, a real ale lovers paradise and firm favourite for the best Indian food, the Monsoon.

Hygge Escape

If you haven't read the book on Danish living I suggest you buy it, its called Hygge and its about how to live a happier life through the creature comforts we all enjoy. This place couldn't be more about that, log fires, candles, wood cabins, peaceful nights listening to the rain. We had a fabulous escape and enjoyed long beach walks in the autumn with our lovely dog. The facilities are clean with comfy warms beds, thank you so much for our stay.

A perfect escape

We cant wait to return to dale farm, we had the most relaxing time. We arrived and were shown to the big yellow caravan, we fell in love right away! Loads of room, storage and beautiful little touches to finish the place off to a really high standard. The toilet was such a big bonus, we’ve stayed similar place where the loo is a walk away but this was perfect! The loo is warm and the shower is lush! Outside was our absolute favorite, we have a little dog who loved running around the private garden, we ate our meals at the picnic bench and stayed out late watching the stars, listening to owls and enjoying the lovely fire pit. A bag of Logs Is only £5. We had amazing weather but even in bad weather the yellow caravan is so cute you’ll be happy and cozy inside. The owners are so friendly, on hand if you need them but totally leave you to enjoy your stay. They are covid safe and if your worried about covid and don’t want to go abroad (like us) this is a perfect alternative. We loved Filey, Scarborough and Whitby. Not too busy just chilled out little seaside Towns. Food we would definitely recommend the piebald inn only 1mile from dale farm. The pies are really nice but massive portions so don’t eat Much before your visit. Every day we ordered breakfast to our door from the owners, you get a picnic basket with your breakfast sandwich and fresh orange juice again only £5 each. Totally worth it! We hate having to get up and go find breakfast every morning and with a dog in tow it’s so much better to have it delivered to you. Again this made us feel really COVID safe by limiting out contact to others. We can’t wait to come back to dale farm. The pictures don’t do it justice. Thanks for a fabulous time

Getting There

Follow the A64 in an eastwards direction until you get to  the roundabout at Staxton, then take the second exit (A1039). Turn right on to White Gate Hill. Turn right on to Hall Park Road (Hunmanby Hall is on your left) and continue across  the crossroads on to Bartindale Road. Dale Farm is about a mile down this road on the right hand side in the dip. In summer there is a trough of red geraniums at the end of the drive.

Frequent trains from north and south on the east coast mainline to York. Then take the Transpennine Express to Seamer (this is also the direct route from Manchester). Liz can collect from the station if required. Alternatively, take another little train right in to Hunmanby.

For overseas visitors, Humberside (Hull) Airport 54 miles; Doncaster’s Robin Hood Airport and Leeds Bradford International Airport are both approximately 70 miles.  Ferry to Hull from Rotterdam or Zeebrugge.
