Manor Farm, East Firsby, Market Rasen, Lincolnshire LN8 2DB
Old-fashioned family fun on a child-friendly campsite in rural Lincolnshire.
This campsite has a good old-fashioned feel. It’s in a peaceful, rural spot, with 20 pitches, including five in a secluded adult-only area, a couple of log cabins hidden among a grove of Christmas trees and several glamping options. There are two adjoining flat fields, surrounded by hedges, with plenty of space for games and family fun, a couple of swings and an animal area with rabbits and guinea pigs for the kids.
Situated in their own enclosure at the bottom of the second camping field are two fully-equipped, comfy bell tents with real beds, duvets and pillows (bring your own bedding if you are here three nights or less). There’s also a fully-equipped and excellently insulated glamping pod among the trees, with a private kitchen and toilet facilities and a hammock where you can lay back and enjoy the birdsong. A gypsy caravan finishes off the campsite’s glamping offering, across a little wooden bridge and with a wide, grassy space around it.
Site-owners Rosemary and Robert keep the place ship-shape and maintain its air of tranquility by enforcing the no-noise-after 10.30pm rule. Rosemary also welcomes the log cabin dwellers with small food hampers of locally sourced produce, and Robert is an avid recycler. Please make him happy by putting aluminium, glass, plastic and paper in the right containers!
The Owner SaysA popular, medium sized camp site, situated in the quiet heart of Lincolnshire. Surrounded by beautiful English countryside, and a short distance from the Roman city of Lincoln.
A great family site
The site had a great family atmosphere, with children playing games around the site. Having paid for a pitch and electricity hook-up we were a bit disappointed that showers were charged on top...a 20p meter, which we didn't know about before, so struggled to find enough 20 pence pieces to have enough time in the shower. Whilst the facilities were cleaned daily, the wooden frames in the shower that you stand on needed to be moved to clean beneath. That said the site was tidy and a lovely location.
Friendly and helpful owners made our stay at Lincolnshire Lanes a very pleasant one. The site was very quiet :0) on the weekdays, busier at the weekends. Proximity to the Red Arrows base gave us a noisy couple of hours one morning. Red Arrows fans would doubtless have been pleased to have a free show. We aren't and weren't!
A welcome introduction to camping!
Visiting the Lincolnshire Lanes was our first attempt at camping, and all in all a great start! There was plenty of space, the facilities were grand and there was a very peaceful air to the place. The only improvement I could think of would be making the signage on site a bit clearer - we made more than one wrong move!
