Selected by architect George Clarke himself, along with the team behind television production company Amazing Productions, George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces is a collection of unique, bespoke structures in which members of the public live, work or can stay. Televised on Channel 4, these spaces are explored on screen and in a number of books, as well as being offered, in some cases, as glamping accommodation. The idea behind the television program is simple: to challenge the idea that great art and design can only be possessed by the few. George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces range from industrial storage units converted into UFOs to ancient shepherd’s huts reinvented for the modern era and magnificent treehouses that would put even the most luxurious hotels to shame. The designs are unique, the uses of the spaces vary greatly and the size of each project is different every time but one thing is constant: These are some of the most inspiring places out there.

Where are George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces?

The focus of much of the George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces series has been in the UK, with designs and buildings featured everywhere from Cornwall and Somerset to the far reaches of Scotland. A number of designs – notably ice houses and impressive treehouses – have also been covered that are from further afield, with TV specials focusing on the USA and Northern Europe, particularly in Sweden, Norway and Denmark. Presently, the Cool Camping collection only features spaces in the countries that we cover: the UK, France, Spain and a handful of other European countries.
