The Owner Says

Set in our wild flower meadow overlooking the surrounding fields, the perfect environment to sit, relax and connect.

These tents are named after the beautiful orchids we have in the meadow and the pastel plant which produces the blue dye that the Lauragais was famous for.

The new design of these tents offers both the excitement and adventure of camping with the comforts of a gite.

They feature amazing Panoramic and roof windows which allow you to enjoy the views during the day and the stars at night. There is plenty of space to sit on the sofa and appreciate the surroundings or gather together round the dining table (inside or outside) enjoying the rich food heritage of the Lauragais.

After some star gazing from the decking area sink into your comfortable bed made up for you with organic cotton bedlinen.

Each tent has access to its own shower room and kitchen giving you comfort, privacy and convenience. The kitchens are fully equipped with fridges, gas cooking and all the equipment you need to create everything you want. Our tents are fitted out with a sitting area, dining area and separate sleeping areas with double and bunk/single beds.

Nearby

The site is in the small village of Montmaur in Aude and you can walk or cycle in beautiful countryside from the site. It's not far from site to the cycle path La Rigole du canal du Midi which stretches from the Canal du Midi (five miles away) to the medieval fortified town of Revel and on to Lac St Ferreol (12 miles away) where you can swim, walk or sail. You could also follow the cycle path along the Canal du Midi itself to reach Castelnaudary (about nine miles away). Both Toulouse and Carcasonne are about 30 miles away and a drive of less than an hour.

Food & Drink

Nature’s Pace has a small shop selling essential items and local produce, including wine, beer, jam and olive oil. The famous dish of the area is cassoulet, with its origins claimed by the nearest town, Castelnaudary (15 minutes by car). There are plenty of restaurants in Castelnaudary in which to try it (or buy a ready-made version) or discover an excellent local variation at Relais de Riquet (+33 4 68 60 16 87), on the Canal du Midi. Le Pas de Narouze (+33 4 68 23 31 15) is also on the Canal du Midi (by the Bassin de Naurouze) offering very reasonably priced set menus and modern French food. A little closer to home (a 10-minute drive), the pretty village of Saint-Félix-Lauragais has both a Michelin Guide-recommended spot — L’ Auberge du Poids Public (+33 5 62 18 85 00) – with fabulous views across the Pleine de Lauragais and outstanding food, as well as the more informal, Le Cocagne (+33 6 42 03 94 75), on the village square. For a family meal, try the restaurant at Lac d’Enclas, with easy parking, a lovely walk around the lake by the restaurant and a children’s playground.
