Greenways of Gower

An established Gower campsite overlooking the expansive sands of Oxwich Bay

Ah, the Gower – coastal jewel in Wales' already resplendent crown. It'll come as no surprise to anyone whose visited the region that this was the first ever designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It will also come as no surprise that this part of the world has a plethora of camping options on offer. From wild coastal sites to glamping breaks (where luxuriousness is matched by price) to the holiday-park-opolis, clogged to bursting with unsightly statics. Thankfully, Greenways of Gower finds a pleasing medium that's just perfect for seasoned and first-time campers alike.

The well-kempt field has space for a maximum of 180 tents, though, rest assured, the owners are sure to maintain the peaceful atmosphere by not admitting anywhere near this amount. Sure you'll see a scattering of the aforementioned privately-owned statics on your way in, however these are segregated from the main elevated camping field and won't infringe on the stunning sea views.

As you'd expect with this kind of well-established operation,  facilities are more than adequate. There's an onsite bar and should your little ones have their fill of playing ball games in the spacious field, there's an adventure playground and games lounge with all manner of amusements. At its heart, this family-run campsite is run with families firmly in mind.

For mums and dads, there's.. well, just look around! This being the Gower, the horizon offers some stunning vistas over Oxwich Bay and out to the Celtic Sea. The bay itself is a popular spot for bathers and watersports, though you're sure to find a relaxed spot amongst the sand dunes at the eastern end. Further afield, nearby Oystermouth Castle is just one of the many attractions to visit in this most richly historical of Welsh regions.

All in all, this tidy and welcoming campsite is ideal for both peace and quiet, beachside fun and family days out – all easily achievable from this beautiful cliffside base.
