Tranquil camping less than a mile from the Cleddau Estuary, with private loos and facilities at each pitch and campfires allowed

In a tranquil field, set within six magical acres, you’ll find Moithan Meadow Campsite. An ancient coppice woodland, reminiscent of Tolkein's 'Middle Earth' hugs the boundary of the meadow, but fear not, there are no Orcs in Pembrokeshire. Following the woodland trail, you’ll come across a babbling brook that's ideal for young children to spend afternoons splashing around in, while, in the middle of the camping meadow, a fenced pond is home to dragonflies and Canadian geese. If you take a stroll around it and stand on the viewing point, you'll be in a prime position to watch the sun go down behind the untamed woodland and quaint neighbouring village of Lawrenny. It bids you good night and the stars come out instead. Then it's time to light the campfire.

Pembrokeshire born and bred, campsite owners Beth and Luke are wonderfully passionate about the area and have a lifetime of local recommendations to give guests. Since January 2021, they have worked day and night diversifying their farm in order to bring this site to life. Moithan Meadow is a real family affair, with Beth’s Dad giving up his weekends to chip in with its construction. The meadow comprises of just seven carefully mown, spaced-out pitches, with an extra two for pre pitched glamping bell tents. Each pitch has its very own hand-crafted lookout shelter, with a Belfast sink, hot shower, eco-loo and fire pit. Each individual pitch also has its own eco-friendly, solar powered locker at 'Ty Croeso' (the reception area) where you can recharge your phone ready for those sunset photos.

There's plenty to do in the area for kids and adults alike. Cleddau Estuary is half-a-mile’s walk away and is the perfect picnic spot to gaze out across the rippling water. Folly Farm Adventure Park, where littl'uns can enjoy getting up close and personal with both farm and exotic animals, is a 15-minute drive and Wild Lakes is five minutes. At the latter, you'll find an adventurous aquapark and a wide array of water-sports to try if you're feeling daring – not to mention the good cafe. Then, of course, there are the beaches: Tenby, Freshwater East, sweeping Saundersfoot Bay and award-winning Manorbier Beach are all primed for sandcastles and sea paddling, around 20–25 minutes away.

The off-grid meadow has nine individual spaced out pitches, which are all accompanied by hand-crafted wooden look-out shelters. Each look-out shelter includes a Belfast sink with running water, and worktop, as well as a wooden picnic bench. Each pitch has its own compostable toilet, hot shower and a campfire. The Meadow is off-grid but solar powered charging points are available to use for devices at Ty Croeso reception and each pitch is assigned their own locker throughout their stay. The site has its own private access with off road parking that runs alongside the site, this means the meadow is vehicle-free (apart from on arrival and departure days) and kids are free to roam around safely.

Suitable For

Tents, couples, small groups, families – yes. Caravans, motorhomes, dogs, noisy folk – no.

If you wanted to venture away from the sleepy Meadow during your stay, there are some lovely country walks which go in a loop from Moithan Meadow, Beth and Luke will be more than happy to share their secret trails with you. Cleddau Esturary is half a miles walk from the site providing you with perfect sunset spot. Wild Lakes (018348 91511) is only a five-minute drive away, where water sports are taken to a whole new level and, if that doesn’t tickle your fancy, then they’ve even got a superb cafe with fresh and vibrant dishes where you can enjoy the water but from a distance. Clerkenhill Adventure Farm is less than 20 minutes by car, with an indoor play barn, adventure trails, crazy golf, outdoor activities, and the home of frizbee golf, which is taken very seriously among the locals. Carew Castle is a 15-minute drive away, Take a stroll around the castle and old Mill and its 2000 year history, it's also the ideal place to walk off that Sunday lunch at the Carew Inn, just opposite. Narberth High Street, a quaint market town just 15 minutes away, where site owners Beth and Luke have informed us is the best Breakfast Roll at Fforc Deli. You’ll also find plenty of independent shops, antique stores, grocers, pubs and cafes. Not forgetting the Pembrokeshire National Park is on your doorstep, beaches and walking trails a plenty.

Food & Drink

In the village you’ll find Beth and Luke's favourite local country inn, the Lawrenny Arms (01646 651367) with stunning views of the estuary. You’ll also find delicious lunches and fresh bakes at the Quayside Tearooms (01646 651574). Plum Vanilla Café (01834 862762) is a great spot for your coffee fix and is just 15 minutes away. Within 30 minutes you'll find the fabulous Martha's Vineyard, where you'll be guaranteed a warm welcome along with local ales, fresh seafood and locally sourced steaks.

A home from home

Moithan Meadow is a home from home. We had a en-suite camping pitch and it had everything we needed for a super comfortable and relaxing stay. It really does feel like you are so far away from anything in a really good way! We had a wonderfully quiet and peaceful stay.

Simply wonderful

We stayed at Moithan Meadow Campsite from 13th-16th Aug. Family of four, 2 adults, 2 kids (13 and 9) It was fantastic! A warm welcome from Luke and Beth. Followed by walk around info as soon as we got there, 7 en-suite tent pitches, each with a hot shower cabin, compost toilet, kitchen AND dining area. They also have 2 glamping Bell Tents on site. Incredible. The meadow is in a lovely setting surrounded by working farm land and lovely views. Beth sorted us 2 different food/treat boxes through her friend which were awesome and was very helpful with local recommendations and tips. Rain and shine we had a comfortable and pleasant stay and highly recommend anyone visiting Pembrokeshire for camping to book here.

Relaxing family Friendly campsite

I loved our stay at this campsite with our family of four. The pitch was very spacious. The timber kitchenette/ eating shelter, on pitch loo and warm water gas shower were amazing. So convenient when camping with a family with small children. The children loved the space and freedom. Convenient location to many of the local Pembrokeshire attractions. Owners were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed every minute of our stay

Great stay in Pembrokeshire

Had the BEST time camping at Moithan Meadow. Site had everything you could possibly need from a tuck shop to lockers with charging points (kids couldn’t decide what they liked best!!). The en suite shower block was a pure treat, and the compostable toilet very easy to use. The kitchen area was great with more than enough space to keep the bulkier kitchen equipment items out of the tent!
