Very effective communication with the hosts & contact free check in. The location is stunning, high up with the sea views promised, watching the sunset over the sea with sundowners, camping chair & pit fire. What more could one want. Lovely clean showers, loos & washing up area. Beaches a short walk away. I will be back!
Scenic, calm and spacious scenic site.
Relaxed feel. Owners Luke & Kate really friendly and helpful. Organised and easy recycling. Clean and sufficient wash facilities. Loads of space with numbered pre-allocated pitches. Good walk to beautiful Druidstone Haven beach which was great with the kids. Stunning sea views and sunsets. Unique site.
Cracking campsite, nice space between pitches and a lovely setting. Staff helpful and facilities good.
Perfect pitch with a sunset view
We recently stayed at Shortlands Farm in July, for 3 nights. On arrival you appreciate the amazing view from the campsite, perfect for sunsets in the evening. The shared facilities felt clean and safe during COVID times. Shared toilets and showers, sinks to wash up and lots of recycling bins which is nice to see. Also the option to freeze your blocks for a cool box which was a nice touch and definitely needed in our heat wave You are a five minute walk from the most beautiful little beach. We spent most days enjoying the sun and swimming in the ocean. The coastal path is also stunning for great views and bird watching. Our hosts sent a wonderful email with lots of stuff to do close by before our stay which we really appreciated. For our first trip to Wales we really couldn’t fault it. A wonderful affordable campsite in such a lush part of the country. We will definitely be back!
Great location - spacious pitches
Just back from a really pleasant 2 night stay at Shortlands Farm campsite. A great spot just a stone’s throw away from the quiet, stunning Druidston Haven. Walks further a field to Broad Haven and Little haven with some good pubs and restaurants. The castle at little haven in particular great food and service at a good price. Ca 40mins walk along the coast path ideal to work up an appetite and help your digestion on the walk back. Stunning views and sunsets . Lucky with a hot dry spell for some perfect camping conditions too. Will definitely be back to this lovely well run campsite tucked away from it all with views of the sea all around.
It couldn't have been better
I think the best thing was the amount of space each plot was given. So easy to socially distance and wasn't crowded at all. A great location and a lovely view of the sunset and sunrise. Thanks so much!
Stunning location, lovely place
This campsite is a short walk from one of the best beaches we found in Pembrokeshire (Druidston Haven). The facilities were cleaned twice a day and the family running it could not have been nicer. It's a great base to explore the incredible coastline, and peaceful too as they don't pack in the campers!
Amazing time with beautiful views
Amazing staff that are always at the end of the phone for anything you need. All COVID protocols are clear and we felt safe during our entire stay. Pitches are really spacious with amazing views all round the site, the amenities are perfect and kept in great condition! There is so much to do and it’s worth reading through the welcome email before arriving. The beach is a short walk from the site we were able to carry kayaks down there. We visited a few castles around the area all a short drive of no more than 30 minutes and are a really nice day out. We will definitely be returning!!
Lovely campsite, dog friendly, plenty of room between pitches, great facilities, amazing views. Walks straight out of campsite on the coastal path, Newgale was further than we realised! Will definitely be back!!
Lovely, quiet campsite with beautiful views over the way
Very spacious pitches, lovely and quiet, very clean toilets and showers (although unisex if that's an issue) wasn't at all for us. It's right on the coastal path so you can easily (40min) walk down to Broadhaven where there's restaurants and pubs and a beach.
Shorthand’s is a beautiful site very well cared for and great facilities close to the cliff path with spectacular views will definitely be back!
Such a lovely little campsite - incredible view of the sea, the best camping facilities we have come across and a small hidden cove to enjoy almost to ourselves within a 15min walk! True bliss.
Love this place
Fantastic location, mostly flat field. Facilities are always spotless. My favourite go-to campsite for sure. Druidston Beach just a short walk away. Amazing sunsets.
Great location with view
Perfect location with amazing scenery. Facilities are clean and pitches are very spacious.
Great site in beautiful location
A friendly, well organised site with amazing views and good access to coast for walking and exploring. We will be back!
Stayed in our camper van just after restrictions were lifted. Fantastic communication and a lovely spot overlooking the ocean. Sunset from here was spectacular and some lovely coastal walks nearby.
Peaceful and scenic
I’m a big fan of a spacious campsite, and Shortlands Farm was perfect. The pitches were extremely generous and the field had a lovely amount of open space. We were a bit unlucky with the wind on the first few nights, but given the incredible location it was to be expected! We loved the quick access to the coast path and to Druidstone Haven beach. The ablution block was very clean and well maintained. It was simple but had everything we needed. This was our first stay. We will definitely go back, and look forward to exploring more of the area. There was so much to see and do, we can’t wait to explore more.
Beautiful location. Peaceful site. Clean showers and toilets.
We spent 4 nights at Shortlands and loved it. A stunning location very close to the coastal path. A very peaceful site with very clean showers and toilets.
Lovely campsite, stunning views
We really enjoyed a week’s stay at Shortlands. It was very laid back with camping around the edges of the field and plenty of space for the kids to run around and play. It didn’t feel hemmed in and this also meant you could enjoy the absolutely spectacular views from your tent. There are lots of beautiful beaches nearby and our favourite was Newgale. Also it was nice to walk down to the local beach. I highly recommend popping in for a drink and/or something to eat at the Druidston hotel. On a practical front, the showers were good and the toilets were kept clean. Although there were only 3 of each, we never had to queue as they seem to keep the number of campers at a minimum. It was also really useful to have use of a fridge & freezer. We would definitely return.
Serene, clean and picturesque
The owners run a laid back cliff top site with an immaculately clean wash block. The camping field is a little exposed but roomy, flat and with great views of the coast. A great site to stay at. I look forward to visiting again.
Amazing views beautiful spot
Lovely campsite friendly, relaxed and clean, great walks and beach quite a wild bit of coastland Druidstone hotel nearby was fun too.
Stunning views, clean, spacious hot showers, great stroll down to beach
Lovely soft ground for tent pegs, important when pitching in wind and rain. Truly spectacular views, spacious pitches, fire pits allowed, relaxed and friendly host.
Very quiet nice stay
A little windy however a very nice and beautiful walk down to the beach approximately 15 minutes away. There was a pub nearby with a lovely garden they did have nice food too. There was limited space to cycle however lots of places to drive. Finally the facility was nice 👍🏻 and the showers were hot every day. A lovely quiet site with helpful owners. From Luke aged 10
Great little site
Fantastic views over the bay. 10 minute walk to the pub. Hot showers.
Fantastic - relaxed, beautiful camping at its best
We have just got back from a four-day trip to Shortlands Farm, and are already missing it! What a gem of a campsite - very relaxed feel, very family friendly and dog friendly; campers are asked to find a space and pitch up. It's a small(ish) site, which is lovely. There are shared loos/showers, which were always spotlessly clean. The views are stunning, with a lovely walk down to the beach (totally recommend stopping off for food at Druidstone Hotel on your way back up!). We will definitely be coming back.
From the initial small winding lanes that lead to this tranquil location, to the stunning sunsets over the bay, this is a wonderful site. Pitch where you like, there's plenty of room. Facilities are spotless, showers are hot 24/7. Owners are there if you need them but otherwise nobtrusive, unlike some other private sites we've stayed. Haverfordwest (town) is 15 mins away, Broad Haven 10 mins the other way with sandy beach. Druidston, with it's Hotel, is tucked away under the site either down the cliff or by road. Fires are permitted (off the ground) and logs are available from the site. One suggestion here to the owners...a bin for hot ashes would be a welcome. addition to the array of recycling options. Shortlands Farm....in short? Bliss. J and T July 2019
Great views, relaxed setting
Shortlands Farm was a wonderful, quiet and chilled out campsite - a perfect spot to relax in. My partner and I had only originally planned to stay 3 nights but we extended it by a night which was super easy to arrange. The facilities were clean. It's worth walking down to the beach nearby and there are plenty of places to explore in the surrounding area if you've got a car.
Shortlands certainly has a sea view.
As others have mentioned, a pitch-where-you-like flat field with good clean facilities over by the farmhouse. Have to agree with the comment below about hand dryers. The panoramic view over the bay is kept interesting by the tankers heading to Milford Haven. The other three sides of the field look out over green fields with the view to the north being particularly pleasant. A word of warning, the path to the beach is quite an incline but that does mean it doesn’t get overcrowded even on really good days. Would certainly use again when we are down that way.
Had a 3 day stay at shortlands lovely flat field cleanest toilets and showers we've encountered.a small walk at the side of the field brings you out to a quirky hotel lovely friendly staff and a view to die for whilst enjoying a pint or two.most definitely stay again
Peace, Tolerance and Time
I loved this place and whether or not the kids recognised it, they did too. A level field for a camper van is as rare as anything but flat it was. A sea view, while drifting off to sleep is also rare, but there it is. Amazing. We stayed at end of May so maybe not full capacity but my kids wandered around with dogs and footballs without impacting the peace and quiet of others. The owners are simply lovely people, which shows im the array of facilities. The path to druidstone Haven and the hotel is a delightful little wander and tired legs can stop to see bats and bugs on the way back from an energetic day at the beach. It felt wonderful to have some time in the present, kicking about doing nothing and not worrying that my toddler may be too nosey or intrusive for others. Lovely place, five stars.
Great location, stunning views
Really enjoyed our stay at Shortlands Farm. The views were fantastic and the location is absolutely perfect to explore the Pembrokeshire coast line and nearby beaches. Toilets were unisex and in the same block as the showers but kept really clean. My only recommendation would be hand dryers!! (Or any form of hand drying facility - air drying was not great) Overall a great stay and would return :)
Very peaceful, great view
We arrived at Shortlands farm on the late May bank holiday weekend to find a fair few tents but still plenty of space round the edge to pitch up, leaving a big space in the middle to play safely! It was much quieter for the next few days of our half term holiday. We really enjoyed sitting by the fire, looking out over the vast expanse of sea in the evenings, and swimming at Druidston beach (about 15 mins walk away) during the day. Facilities were always spotless and the showers hot. Handy to have the fridge freezers available too. It's a great spot, tucked away but easy to find. Thanks for a lovely holiday!
Easy, Great Value, great location
We visited last summer in our rented Swift Go motorhome. The campsite is in a fantastic location and had everything we needed for our two night stay. Our motorhome came with a welcome pack so we didn't have to drive to the shops for tea, bread, milk, etc, but we found some amazing pubs nearby for our evening meals. We're looking at buying a Swift Select campervan now, so we'll definitely by staying at Shortlands Farm again.
Stunning view. Not overcrowded. Ple ty of rokm, everyone tends to go aroybd tge edge of the field which allowed kids to play in the middle. We were worried too close to tge cliff as we have youbg children but theres a fence and thick bushes. Dont think you could fall off if you wanted too. Showers very warm and powerful, facilities always clean. Fridge freezer handy. Friebdly hosts. Firld fairly flat, better view frol tge far side or top but windier. Higher end prices compared to other similar campsites but tge view made it worth it. Would come again.
I was hoping for a few days away to unwind and that's exactly what happened. I was at the farm over Easter weekend, the only things you could hear were the sea and the cows. With the nearest through road down at the end of the bridleway, we certainly had a quiet one. A quick minute walk from the field were the toilet/showers; three of each and unisex, they were always clean, only had a 5 minute queue for a shower at 9am. I walked North along the coast up to Newgale on Saturday, returning by bus; only a couple of quid single. Deciding to torture my unfit 40yr old legs again, I walked down to broadhaven on Sunday, thankfully it's an easier walk to the south. The only issue I have is trying to find time to get back there for another stay. Thanks.
A fantastic Easter break
Upon arriving at this hidden gem, we were blown away by the sea views. The camping field was beautifully maintained and the facilities were always clean. Having communal fridges was really useful as the camping pitches did not have electric hook up. The Druidston hotel (only a short walk away) is a beautiful spot to walk to, overlooking the beach. We could not have asked for better hosts; happy to do anything to help us and really relaxed. We will certainly be making a return trip in the near future.
Absolutely great place and owners. Nice and open, clean with nice views. Will definitely be back.
Lovely friendly place
A great little find, quiet and family and dog friendly. A short walk to a fabulous pub and magnificent beach. We will definitely visit again.
Great location with a great view
This campsite was in a good location with fantastic view. Clean and comfy campsite. Short walk down to the beach & pub. Took our two dogs, very pet friendly site. Clean facilities, with good hot water showers and nice washing up area. Will be booking Shortlands campsite again.
Great location for coastal walks, the Puffin bus passes by the end of the lane so easy transport to or from a walk. Good size field, exposed but lovely view over St. Brides Bay. Facilities are ok, male and female shared space with 3 toilets and 3 good showers. Washing up area with 2 sinks. Would stay again but could do without the owner mowing the grass to within an inch of my tent while I was packing up!
Had a fantastic stay at Shortlands farm. Fabulous views over the sea but can be windy. As mentioned in other reviews unisex toilets, which were always clean and not an issue for us. Very dog friendly and lovely stroll to the beach. I am already looking forward to booking my next stay but will make sure to bring a good windbreak next time.
Great location friendly people
The showers were hot all the times, people are friendly and the views on a sunny day cannot be beat. We didn't need it but there are charging ports available for phones etc. Would reccomend this place to anyone wanting a pitch in Wales.
Fantastic campsite - would go again
It was a great campsite, in the perfect location to explore Pembrokeshire and its beaches. The sea view from our tent was fantastic. The amenities were great; well maintained and clean. We would definitely stay here again.
We stayed at Shortlands Farm with our daughters (ages 6 & 3) and our dog. We loved waking up to the views of the sea which makes this a little gem of a campsite. The toilets and showers are unisex which makes life so much easier for families, water was hot & sinks had really hot water! No charge for this. The showers and toilets were so clean & well maintained, we were very impressed compared to places we have stayed in before. We liked the fact we could pitch our tent anywhere, take the dog & use our fire pit. We also loved the location and the fact we didn’t have to use our car with the quiet beach a 10min walk away & more populated beaches down the coastal path (2mile walk) This is a great campsite with lovely owners. I hope it stays this way and keeps its small, friendly charm
We (family with 2 wee ones and a dog) stayed very recently and enjoyed it thoroughly. All the things you would want from a good campsite - great views, clean facilities, wonderful pitch, relaxed hosts, beautiful beach 5 mins away. Highly recommended! K
We received a warm welcome to the campsite, with the freedom to pitch our tent anywhere in the field with stunning sea views. Unfortunately in the week we were there, 5 or so families arrived with loud children and the peace of this lovely campsite was spoilt. The showers were warm but there was often a queue with so many campers sharing the three showers & toilets - otherwise pleasant and regularly cleaned. Would recommend it to families as there was plenty of space for children to run wild but not enjoyable camping as a couple. The beach was a short walk away, with instant access to the coastal path just a 5-10 min out the camp. Ideally located for day trips to St Davids, Marloes Sands, Tenby & other known Pembrokeshire hot-spots.
Our stay at Shortlands farm was relaxing and fun. The amenities were great with clean showers and toilets. The location was ideal, just a few minutes walk from the Druidstone Beach and Hotel, and short driving distance to a host of other activities.
Lovely quiet campsite with a sea view
We had a great stay at Shortlands farm. It's a lovely field overlooking the sea. No allocated pitches so you can choose where to put up your tent. Good basic facilities with nice warm showers. It's a 10 minute walk to the pub and beach. Would definitely recommend!
Fab campsite, short walk from coastal path, modern and clean showers and toilets.
Relaxed and quiet
Really welcoming and had everything you could need. The shower block was great and never busy. Nice quiet location with plenty of walks from the bridleway, would definitely go back! Broad Haven was about a 40 minute walk along the coast path or the road- it would probably take about 5-10 minutes in the car if you need to pick up anything from a store.
I cannot rate this site highly enough...
Stayed here with my son(13yo) for a full week during the half term May 2018. Kate and Luke run this wonderful gem of a campsite. Views out to St Brides bay are truly stunning; we have been camping a lot all over the UK, this site rates very highly, at only £8 per person per night (enough said here, especially when I investigated some sites in the Pembrokeshire area that regiment your pitch to a particular space are charging £35 a night for 2 people). Nice friendly greeting on arrival. You can get on with pitching in your own chosen space, so that even when at full capacity you still have your own bit of Wales. Great for solo travellers/couples/families/groups of friends. Allows fires, your own pit or the owners give you a pit(on request), and sell 'good quality dry kept wood for burning' and kindling at a very fair price. You are allowed to park your car next to your pitch. The field is good ground/soil for pitching on. The camping field is for tents and small camper vans only; so you are not overrun by large motor homes; which is something we particularly enjoyed. There is an area for upto approx 6 larger motor homes with electric hook ups, in a separate area/field, so again tent campers do not feel as they are in a small city of large motor homes(which I have experienced on other camping vacations around the UK), leaving unspoilt see views and panoramic views of the bay/sea for us down to earth campers. Facilities are more than fine: Moaning about a shared toilet/shower block is pretty ridiculous. It is clean and fine. Fridge freezer is adequate. Some folks even left their mobiles phones charging on the 2 spare mains sockets in the facilities block; as the place is so trusting. I know us camper types like to get away from the world of Wiki & Tech, but having a charged I think is fair enough on the whole in 2018, so long as it doesn't control/consume your life :-) We were at the campsite at peak (May half-term) and NEVER had to wait for the toilet, if the 3 showers are all busy(around 9am-ish seemed the peak); no need to stand and wait and moan(chill you are on holiday), just go back in half an hour after breakfast or whatever else, & you will be fine. Never did we witness an evening where there wasn't a shower available. Lovely warm water and no extra cost for the showers. Good clean washing up facilities (with hot water). Recycle bins for your waste. Couple of water taps in the camping field. Again even at capacity, the campsite was wonderfully quiet after dark... even when plenty of groups were having their fires late on, (10:00pm+) the campers all clearly had a mutual respect for each other, bringing such a nice feeling of calm under the non light polluted stars. No silly list of 'rules' at this campsite, which I strongly believe is the reason for the mutual respect between campers. The owners let you get on with it (unlike some sites, where owners are checking up on the campers, whilst pretending not to be doing so, you know the story...) full trust also gains respect. If you need any info, they are open for approach/local info/guidance. Just knock on the door for a positive response. Not a whimper of road noise at all on the campsite(day or night). No extra charge for my additional gazebo (which I have had at some other previous campsites I have stayed at). I cannot add much more really other than... clearly if you are reading this, then you are clearly looking for a base in Pembrokeshire. This was nice and central as such, so look no further... Oh... did I forget to mention the coastal path/bays/coves/beaches that are not overpopulated :-) Pop for a walk down the coast to Broad Haven and Little Haven or stroll up the coast to Newgate sands and in either direction see the beautiful coastline change as you continually are forced to admire it at every turn. I can't recommend Shortlands highly enough & I've done a bit of camping. If I/We are ever looking to camp in Pembrokeshire area in future, it's a 'no brainer'. Thank you Kate & Luke, from Paul & son Greg (of West Yorkshire).
Shortlands is by far one of the best campsites we have stayed at. Fantastic views, short walk to beach and one of the best pubs in Pembrokeshire. The facilities were great and always clean, hosts were very friendly and helpful. Can’t fault it! Will definitely be back.
Great place for a weekend away
Spent May Bank Holiday weekend at Shortland Farm and loved every second of it. Upon arrival we were met with a friendly face who shared some knowledge of the local area, showed us where we would be camping & the facilities available. We were able to pitch the tent wherever suited us, there was more than enough room for everyone to enjoy with a beautiful sea view. Ideal location for dogs, a lovely coastal walk down to the beach and what looked like a lovely pub nearby. The campsite itself was very clean and tidy, the Toilet/Shower block was spotless, and although there is only 3 toilets & showers I never once had to wait. Have already recommended to my friends/family and would definitely look to stay again.
I just got back from a few days at shortlands farm and had the best break in a long time ! I wasn't expecting much for £8 a night but it blew away £25 a night campsites. I was met by the owner on arrival and told where to pitch and a little about the area and was left to get on with it but she was always around if needed. I was blown away with the views straight away and with druidstone haven beach within walking distance and a hotel to get refreshments at half way and 4 other beaches within 5 miles which were dog friendly was amazing for my elderly cocker spaniel. On site the pitches were nice and level with water supply in the corner and the toilet block was immaculate. Will be going back soon if its not fully booked following my review and the people I'll tell at the camping and kite centre in raglan where I work 😊
One of our favourite campsites
All we want from a campsite are a quiet field where we can light a fire, a loo and a short walk to a source of good real ale and food. This site fulfils these criteria perfectly and all for only £8 per person per night!! (Should just say there is more than one loo,and it has showers/washing up area/recycling bins etc too) And it has a wonderful beach and the coastal path right as well. If you want to listen to music, have designated pitches etc etc then this might not be the site for you!! And on the hottest bank holiday weekend on record there was plenty of space and choice of pitch.
Could be a lot better
A quiet location with gorgeous views, but facilities are somewhat insufficient. Old bins, and recycling crates, that are too small with rocks keeping the lids on in the high winds are not adequate for a large campsite. We weren't bowled over by the unisex toilets to be honest. Showers were lovely hot and free with a space for changing with a hook and seat. The lack of information in the porch of the farmhouse was disappointing, thankfully we could get a phone signal so could find things online. There didn't seem to be anyone around and there were dogs running free around the campsite while we were keeping ours under control.
It was a pleasure to stay at this spectacularly situated campsite. The sea views are superb and it's located in the heart of Pembrokeshire's delightful dairy farming country. The welcome from Kate and her family could not have been friendlier and there are so many things to do and see in the area you could easily fill a couple of weeks. It's good that you can pitch your tent wherever you like in the field. The showers and loos were quiet, spotlessly clean and perfectly adequate. There is also a fridge and freezer for guests' use. The Druidston hotel is just a ten minute stroll away (advance booking required for the restaurant or get there early for a table in the bar). We will definitely be back.
Beautiful family friendly campsite
We had a great time at this beautiful campsite. The facilities are fantastic and it's great that the owners let you pitch where you want, which results in everyone having space. Kate gave us a very friendly welcome. The kids really enjoyed watching the calf that had got into the field, which was safely restored to its own field. Great access to the beach. Definitely returning.
My girlfriend and I, and two friends, spent four nights camping at Shortlands Farm and couldn't have picked a better place! As the pictures suggest, the views from the campsite are outstanding. However, these pictures do not do it justice. I will never get tired of waking up to see the sea. The closest pub (the Druidstone) is a short walk away and should probably hold the award for pub with the best views. If possible, go a watch the sunset from here. Just down from the pub is a hidden gem of a beach which when the tides out allows for a dramatic short walk (complete with waterfall, rock pools and caves. Would highly recommend Shortlands Farm and will hopefully return myself.
We stayed at Shortlands Farm for just the one night on Sunday 23rd April and were blessed with lovely, sunny weather. Apart from one tent, we had the camping field to ourselves. It's a small site, with a good flat surface. The views out to sea are stunning. The site is exposed, so I'd imagine it can get a bit blustery if the wind is up but we were lucky. Friendly, laid back owners, good hot showers in a clean, well maintained block. A 5 minute walk down the bridle path adjoining the site takes you onto the road where you can walk down to Druidston beach and along the coastal path. The Druidstone Hotel is worth checking out for great sunset views and look out for the Teletubby earth house built into the cliff side which can be seen from the coastal path. A peaceful, relaxed location. Recommended!
Shortlands and chill
We had two fantastic days and nights at Shortlands Farm. The owners were so friendly and helpful. Our two little girls teamed up with theirs and were alternating playing in our camper van and their house. Facilities were great, lovely warm showers, spacious cubicles and what a setting. The views were to die for and it was a lovely walk down to that incredible beach. We spent the first day playing on the beach, exploring the rock pools and the caves. The next day we went for a horse ride on the beach from Norton Stables and then had a Spanish Banquet that evening in the very cool Druidstone Hotel. Couldn't have asked for more.
Great campsite, beautiful spot
Just back from a 5 night stay - had a great time and the campsite us in a lovely location with fantastic views of the sea and the spectacular Pembrokeshire coastline. The owners were very welcoming and helpful. Great for families (dogs!). Showers and toilets were clean and had plenty of hot water - sometimes a little busy first thing/last thing. The owners sell wood and have fire pits - great to have a fire in the evening. Druidston beach was lovely, great for hanging out or a little body boarding, the Druidston hotel does OK food (we're veggie - the food wasn't anything special) but gas a good range of local beers and has amazing views. We'll definitely be going back.
We stayed for 5 days, 4 nights - first visit to Pembrokeshire. No welcome as such but this was explained and met one of the owners cleaning the washblock facilities which were kept very clean. Lots of small children and dogs (we had neither!) but this was ok and good to see kids enjoying safe play in the fresh air! Strong winds and rain kept us awake but worth it for the beautiful sunsets! Facilities under pressure (limited unisex toilets and showers). The site would definitely benefit from additional wash basins both for personal use and washing-up (only one sink?). Freezing facilities inadequate and some guidance for camping novices in terms of labelling etc would help as our labelled ice was taken by someone else! Took advantage of local leaflets and reading book collection (took one and left another behind as suggested!). Would definitely recommend as the location is superb - easy access to coastal path, within walking distance of Broad Haven where there is a Londis supermarket. Would recommend local Druidston Hotel - bar food ok, great views but need to get there early in high season or book restaurant in advance.
We came for 3 days and ended up staying a week! Lovely quiet unspoilt site, very relaxed owners and very dog friendly, so nice not to have to have our dogs on leads all the time. Showers and toilets very clean and lovely hot water. Great location for walks and the many unspoilt (and deserted) beaches. We could see beautiful sunsets over the sea right from the camping field a real treat. Whilst we were there it was quite windy and as the site is on the cliff it is quite exposed. One suggestion we had was it would have been good to have some sort of shelter over the washing up area just to make it easier if it rains, although for us it really didn't make a difference. Just loved our week here and we will definitely be back, thank you!
Lovely coastal camping
We have just returned from a lovely sunny weekend at Shortlands Farm. Good clean facilities, including free hot showers. Plenty of space to relax in the camping field. Friendly owners who greeted us on arrival. Within spitting distance of the sea, the stunning coastal path, pebble cove and a delightful pub - albeit down a dirt track. In essence, Shortlands is a site that I would heartily recommend and would go back to if we were to make the trek to Pembrokeshire again.
A camp with a view
The location could not be better. The view is one you will never tire of . Great access to local pub, beach and coastal walks. We liked the laid back attitude of owners i.e. camp where you want, also being able to have a fire is a must for us. We take our own fire basket and wood, but you can hire a burner and buy wood on site. The 3 Unisex toilets and showers were fine, but took a bit of getting used to . When the camp is busy, obviously, so are the facilities. The fridge freezer was also under pressure, a separate chest freezer would be a great addition! We did our washing up away from "peak times", so the one sink was ok for us. The field is a lovely size, most people gravitate to the sides, so don't be surprised if someone squeezes next to you instead of using loads of space in other areas of the field. We were there for a week, so saw a big turnover of people. The site is understandably popular. One other little point might be to direct big groups to an empty space, or in the middle of the field. We had a big group next to us,10 adults, 3 kids, 2 dogs! (5 Tents )....Thankfully, they were only there for 2 nights, or we would have seriously thought about moving spot. We saw the dogs doing their` business` a few times around our tent...not great!!! In general they cleared it up , but the little family who came to camp in the same spot after they went, trod in their uncollected lump of dogs poo...camping etiquette and all that !!! ..... All things considered.....a great week, we would go back !
Perfect Family Holiday and campsite
Some campsites only seem to attract nice people. No rowdy drinking or idiots driving too fast - that kind of thing. A few years ago, I'd have camped down by Newgale and drunk too much and stayed awake all night. Now I look for a family campsite with a nice view and nice people.
£5/ night/ person is good value for always-hot water and a beautiful view.
We had a little fire (bring a fire pit) and if poss, bring your own wood. A tenner for a couple of nights of wood shows the value of a captive market!
Kids play in the middle of the field and parents watch on by their fires. It is a short walk from the Druidstone Hotel (you must go... there is a bar menu as well as a restaurant)
Druidston Haven Beach is wonderful.
The owners are easy-going... "welcome.... pitch where you want"
How to improve? The site needs a chest freezer and maybe an extra washing up sink or two. (or even just a hot tap and a shelf)
Beware the wind. Some tents got shredded.
Lovely site. Go!
Great Stay at Shortlands Farm
Just got back from 3 nights of camping at Shortlands farm and it was a great holiday! We had good weather and the location of the site is beautiful, with amazing views of the sea and great views of the sunset! It is so peaceful and the perfect place to get away from it all! The owners were lovely and helpful, and we were able to borrow a fire pit and buy some logs to have a fire in the evening! The showers and bathrooms were always clean and the showers were warm and powerful! It is also near the Druidstone Hotel which is 5 min walk away, perfect if you want to grab a drink or food! Couldn't have asked for a better place to stay! Highly rate this camping site!
This is my favourite campsite in the world and it gets better every time we go! We just got back from a week long stay in our van with 3 young children. They have moved the camping field to a bigger field-lots of space and breathtaking views. The showers and wash up are lovely and hot and the toilets always clean. All the other campers were lovely people, and it is peaceful and safe for little children. Can't wait for our next trip.
We have just returned from our camping trip at Shortlands Farm and we really enjoyed our stay. A really quiet, lovely little site with spectacular views. The showers were nice and hot and it was great to have a fridge/freezer to use. We experienced very windy weather when we arrived, and the owner was very helpful, assisting us with tent repairs (thank you!) We were having such a nice time we decided to stay an extra night!
An amazing campsite
My boyfriend and I just spent the May Bank Holiday weekend at Shortlands Farm and had a lovely time. The campsite was just what we were looking for...a nice big field, the freedom and privacy to pitch up where ever, stunning views of the sea etc, etc. It was such a bargain too - only £5 per person per night!
I loved the peace and simple amenities - showers (lovely hot powerful ones!), toilets, a sink to wash up and a fridge to keep some cold beers :-).
We rented a fire pit for two nights as well and bought a big bag of wood for £10.
I will definitely go back...hope it stays the same :-)
Thanks to Luke and Kate
Clean, minimalistic, friendly
Camped 3 days in May, very pleased. Sea views in much of the camping field (however, there is a field of cows between you and the sea!). Facilities were minimalistic: 3 toilets, 3 showers and an outside sink for washing up. However, they were cleaned regularly and appeared to be quite new. Hot showers too :) No plugs or handryers. Very reasonably priced. Friendly family owners, campfires allowed, short walk from the beach and a local restaurant/pub. Don't forget your loo roll as it is not provided! Overall very good experience.
A lovely setting, great views over the bay. great access to the local beaches. Druidston was a lovely beach, as was broadhaven which was great for body boarding and Slova was a great place to go crabbing.
The poor rating comes from the state of the facilities. The toilets are of mixed use and provide no toilet paper or soap, this I can live with, however, although the shower and toilet block is new it was filthy. The floors of the showers where constantly wet and I often found people coming out if the shower cubicles and dressing in the communal area to try and find a dry spot!. At one point I even looked for a mop so I could have a go at the showers myself with no luck. The toilets were not cleaned from at least the Sunday until the Wednesday, this was easy to observe this as someone had put very muddy boots on one of the toilet lids and the mud stayed there for four days!! When the cleaning took place it was only the toilets, the floors remained untouched for the whole of our visit. The showers and floor where not cleaned for the whole length of our stay, which on the fifth night resulted in a flood as all the dirt had blocked the drain. To use the toilets we found ourselves wading through a couple of inches of water, with credit to the owners this was sorted quickly. However to get clean we resorted to the local swimming baths to use the showers. For the amount of people on site when we arrived there was not enough toilets and the one sink for washing up is outside and there was regularly a queue over the bank holiday.
Also if you have a dog that is not keen on other dogs or family members who do not like dogs this is not the site for you. As dogs are not required to be kept on leads, when walking through the site we had to run the gauntlet of other peoples dogs running out at us, which freaked our dog out completely and we were also regularly visited by the resident dog marking his territory, though thankfully he did leave when shooed away.
A lovely spot, great views we had a great holiday, and the issues I have could easily be rectified, by regularly hosing down the block and regular cleaning, however we won't be returning to this site.
Great little site
If you want a real out of the way getaway, in a great location with fantastic views and great friendly owners then give Shortlands a try.
Not much to add to previous reviews really, great brand new shower block with brilliant showers and a campers fridge freezer, only minor gripe is that washing up could maybe be undercover.
Close enough to H'f'west for all the shops, but right out in the country, 10 minutes from a great beach(when the tide's out) and even closer to the Druidstone a great pub/restaurant.
Right on the coast path a 45 minte stroll to Broadhaven.
Kate, Luke, Belle and Leo, the dog will all make you welcome.
Would we visit again? You bet, will probably be back in September
We had a fab family holiday here - the facilities are new and clean and near to the campsite. The best things are the view, proximity to the beach and friendly atmosphere. The beach is a perfect sandy beach with the hotel halfway back up the cliff to the campsite. Perfect for ice creams and a post beach beer. We will come back!
FANTASTIC FAMILY BREAK
A relaxing experience from start to finish - I had to write a review! The Ledwith family, including the 'master of the camp' - Leo the dog - were friendly and welcoming. The location feels remote and removed from civilization... with the most spectacular views - what more do you want from a break away?!! The sunsets over the seascape, hearing the cows in nearby fields, and falling asleep to the sound of the waves just top off the whole camping experience. The nearest beach is the huge and beautiful Bridal Bay - it is a steep walk downhill to get to - but you can park nearer if you want to avoid the walk ;) The facilities were spacious and clean.
Stayed here very recently with the intention of staying just the 1 night, but due to it's stunning location, excellent (free!) facilities and friendly owners, we had to extend that to 2. It's a stunning location and an ideal spot. I would fully recommend a stay here and the showers were a godsend
Shortland's Farm - Beautiful
Shortland's Farm was truly amazing and beautiful. Their facilities were clean and quite close to the camp site. The beach was only a 10 minute walk, the surfing activities were only 20 minutes drive away and we even had time to visit the famous Blue Lagoon which was only a 30 minute drive - if you go, bring a wet suit (the water is freeezing!). The views and temperature during the day & night were perfect for a BBQ or a camp fire. The owners were so kind and welcoming that we'll be sure to visit Shortland's Farm again!
Stayed over the easter weekend. Great campsite and great location - Druidston beach just down the road is a peach! Great beach and quiet even during the holidays. Facilities at the site were everything we needed - hot showers (that stayed hot even when busy), washing up spot and logs for sale for a campfire. The owners were very friendly as well. Also recommend a trip round to the blue lagoon at Abereiddy for some diving. We'll definitely be returning!
We braved the January wind and rain for 2 nights, and have a lovely stay at Shortlands. Very hospitable guests (cheers for the tow!!), wonderfully hot showers, spectacular views, and a short stumble away from the Drui hotel. We'll be back!x
Stayed just one night in November – yes they are open all year round! Stunning spot, owners very friendly and helpful – we had the place to ourselves (because it was November!) and the view really is lovely – a starry walk down the old green way to Druidstone Hotel and hot showers in the morning = perfect winter camping – we might come again when the sun is shining though!
We had a really lovely stay at Shortlands farm. The site is small and relaxed. The facilities are clean and ample for the size of site. It is a short walk down to Druidstone beach, and the Druidstone hotel is a must! We recommend taking a boat tour from St Davids to see the island and all the sea life. We will definitely be returning, this is our kind of campsite, friendly and relaxed!
