Peaceful, family-friendly camping in Pembrokeshire, where campers are surrounded by nature, campfires are welcome and the sea is a 15-minute walk
Little Haven Campsite may have changed its name a few years ago but campers with inside knowledge of the Pembrokeshire coast still know that's it's the place to go. It’s half a mile walk, or drive to the beach (less than a mile to two beaches, in fact), though the noise of the waves is usually lost beneath a gentle chorus of other sounds. Campfires crackle, marshmallows bubble, wildlife rustles among the bushes and at dusk the resident barn owl can sometimes be heard. They are the sounds of traditional, no-frills camping but with the added luxury of a private Flush Toilet and Hand Basin for each pitch ( no more sharing loos!). And for folks like us heading to the coast, they are exactly what we’re looking for. Set in an organic meadow, where short camping lawns have been mown into irregular aprons of longer wild grass, Little Haven Campsite is a simple site of old with a private flush toilet/hand basin provided for each pitch during your stay, a couple of hot showers and washing-up sinks, a chest freezer for campers to freeze their ice packs but very little else besides. There are no electrical hook-ups aside from electrical charge sockets for phones, tablets etc – though small campervans are still welcome – and there’s no shop, café or playground. The entertainment here is more about having space, peace, being surrounded by nature, and a cracking beach within easy reach. Little Haven Beach is the closest – backed by a picturesque fishing village with plenty of facilities (car parking, toilets, etc) and quaint village pubs nestled into a sheltered valley that opens up onto the beautiful golden sands. The bay is dotted with rock pools and spectacular craggy formations to the sides, while there's easy access onto the beach itself – ideal for families with young children. It also offers safe swimming and surfing for all ages and abilities. Once you round the headland, the beach actually stretches much further, linking up with neighbouring Broad Haven. It’s here that you can hire water sports equipment to make the most of the surf, or retreat back onto land to snake your way along the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path. It too can be easily reached from the campsite. At night the skies remain wonderfully dark. The campsite is within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and not only does this mean spectacular scenery and wildlife but also restrictions on further building, so there's no neon urban glow once the sun sets. Dusk means putting another log on the fire, wrapping up in a blanket and admiring the spectacular star lit skies. The unblemished nighttime views echo the Little Haven Campsite ethos – that interference and manmade luxuries aren’t the way to enjoy the great outdoors and just leaving things alone works much better. This place has, but for  the occasional trim of the grass, been left nicely alone for campers to enjoy nature and the outddors. And isn’t that what camping’s about?

High Season Grass Pitch
Kids loved it
Really great site. Lovely not to have cars next to your pitch. Defined pitches by mowing make it feel like you have your own save, looks pretty also. Clean facilities and helpful owner. I Would def visit again

This campsite has a very laid-back vibe. The pitches are enormous which gives you a lot of privacy from other campers. The new toilet blocks are excellent with individual toilet and wash basin facilities per pitch. The new showers are excellent. The provision of a deep freeze with individual boxes for freezing ice packs was great as was the ability to charge your phone. Hot water for washing dishes was a real bonus. Having Alison and Greg only a mobile phone call away was great. The Braziers provided for evening campfires made the whole experience very special. This was our fourth visit to this campsite and we will definitely be back!

High Season Grass Pitch
This visit to Little Haven Campsite was a long time overdue as it was booked in January 2020 and we were very happy that Alison and Greg honoured our booking til this year. The campsite is great, pitches are large and separated by meadow grass giving you space and privacy. The amenities are well kept (freezer/charge points/showers/cold shower head for your wetsuits) but the best bit it is your own lockable toilet and sink which doubles as a drying room for your wetsuits/towels. The site has a very welcoming and safe feeling about it and with the restricted plots it means that you get to know the people on site well. Alison and Greg are incredibly welcoming and offer a wealth of help and information about the area and the site. The site is a 15 minute walk (3 minutes drive) to some of the nicest beaches and coves in Pembrokeshire. We would definitely like to go back and highly recommend this camp site.

High Season Grass Pitch
This campsite is a true gem. Hidden away so you wouldn’t know it was there, each pitch is unique and beautifully carved out in the meadow. Alison & Greg are fantastic hosts and you can see how much care and attention they have put into their site. They were regularly seen walking around, checking that everyone had everything they need and the honesty box for wood and change is indicative of the general feel of the place. The facilities are really clean, and the fact that you have your own loo and basin is an extra treat that will make other campsites seem “less than” now! Plus each cubicle has a drying line and clear roof so it warms up in the daytime and dries your towels. The showers are also very clean and I was worried that 7 minutes wouldn’t be long enough but it was ample time for both my boys to share… The freezer was also very handy and well organised, and perhaps the most exceptional bit was the wall of electricity sockets and USB charging points! We have been to so many campsites which are let down by not having any facility to recharge electrical items, batteries etc. Whilst I am all for limiting the use of electronics while camping, when the weather lets you down, which it did several times during our week, it was great to be able to allow screen time for our children! We had such a great week at Little Haven and it’s within very easy reach of some of the most beautiful beaches in the UK! We will definitely go back.

A beautiful, peaceful Eco family campsite in Pembrokeshire Coast National Park with campfires, luxury private flush toilet facilities (you don't have to share with other campers!) . Enormous Grass pitches in a natural meadow only 15 minutes walk or a 2 minute drive to two stunning sandy beaches of Little Haven and Broad Haven with an abundance of sand, rock pools, Atlantic surf and cosy fishing village pubs Smell the sea, feel the sky, tell a story around a campfire...
Nearby attractions

There are two stunning beaches less than a mile from the campsite – Little Haven and Broad Haven. It's about a 15 minute walk along country lanes to each from the camping field, or a couple of minutes drive to either of the beach carparks. Both are excellent spots with rock pools for kids and great surf for those heading onto the water. Try the Haven Sport Shop (01437 781354) in Broad Haven for kayaks, surf boards and paddle board hire. At the beaches you can also pick up the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, 186 miles of breathtaking coastal scenery. For a one way trip, walk and then pick up the Puffin Shuttle Bus at the other end, which will return you to Little Haven. Another particular highlight is taking the boat trip out to Skomer Island. The island nature reserve is surrounded by the clear blue sea of a marine reserve. The area is home to over 10,000 puffins, 300,000 manx shearwaters along with other species of birds, grey seals and porpoises.

Food and drink

The local shop in Broad Haven have everything you need and there are several decent village cafés: The Corner House in Little Haven and The Ocean (01437 781882) and The Seaview Café (the latter serving excellent fish and chips), both in Broad Haven. For a pint or tasty pub grub, try The Castle Inn (01437 781445) or the Swan Inn (01437 781880) in Little Haven. Springfield Farm sells fresh, homegrown produce a few minutes walk from the campsite (including free range eggs, salads, tomatoes and Pembrokeshire potatoes) and St David’s hosts a local farmer's market on Thursdays. There's also an excellent market in Haverfordwest on Fridays.
