a slice of peace
Thank you to the Cowpots people, for a wonderful week in sun and rain. Quiet, peaceful, relaxing in a lovely campsite. Our first holiday since Covid, and it laid our worries to rest. I can recommend the pizza.
Excellent in every respect
We had 7 nights at Cowpots in early September and it was absolutely fantastic! We had Frisky pitch and the views were stunning. In light of Covid, the huge pitches are perfect and we had so much space and peace and quiet. The compost loo was a first for us but was no problem to use and the shower was lovely and warm. Spending star filled nights sitting round the fire pit was a relaxing end to the day and a real treat. The surrounding area is full of things to do and we had the perfect mix of days out and chilled days on the farm. Wood fire pizza is a must because it is super fresh and delicious!! The Cowshed is beautiful and the perfect place to enjoy your meal along with a crisp Welsh cider. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Cowpots and would certainly recommend to anyone looking for an off-grid, tranquil camping experience. We will be back! Thanks to our hosts who were warm and friendly and keen to make sure we had everything we needed. The perfect escape from a busy life and a much needed bit of R&R.
Perfect end to the summer
My family and I stayed her on the last weekend before the children went back to school and it was the perfect end to a great summer. We stayed on Finch with some friends staying next door on Sunset and both pitches were huge. The on suite loo and shower were a brilliant feature to have and the undercover area was great too. We explored some of the surrounding woods and found a great little field with lots of Christmas trees!! The pizza and ice cream were fantastic too. All in all a great place to visit.
My girlfriend and I booked this pitch as a simple get away for two days to spend some time together away from civilisation. We loved the walks around the site and loved the site as a whole as it’s off the grid and in a lovely area. We enjoyed the whole eco experience as it was our first time, and it won’t be our last and we will 100% love to come back to your site as it offers everything and more for a good camping holiday in wales.
Chilled camping ideal for families!
Cowpots is a Brilliant campsite with ensuite shower and loo, in a fab location only 15 minute drive from some lovely beaches! Dog friendly, child friendly (lots of children making friends on an old fallen oak tree) and knackered parent friendly - a perfect ‘chill’ break away to relax and unwind off grid for a while. The Wonderful pizza and ice-cream (and Welsh cider) on site is perfection! Blackberry picking on the lanes and fields too were fab to have with toasted waffles back at the van. Just the perfect, chilled end to Summer we needed! Thanks for having us - we’ll definitely return.
A fantastic short stay at Cowpots
We love this area of Wales, numerous sandy beaches nearby but still doesn’t get overcrowded in the summer. It was our first experience camping in Pembrokeshire and Cowpots was a huge hit! We loved the peace and quiet, the huge pitch and en-pitch facilities. So special to look out at the trees while enjoying a hot shower. The pizza and ice cream were the icing on our arrival day after setting up. We would recommend Cowpots to anyone and thank the brilliant owners for making it such a wonderful place.
We checked in on a Saturday and I was amazed at the size of our plot on thyme. We never officially met anyone who worked here and that was fine with me. Facilities where all clean and we really enjoyed the campfire. My daughter loved playing on the tree, finding ladybirds and just generally enjoying the great outdoors as kids do. I would reccomend both the pizza and ice cream which where delicious. We watched shooting stars with toasted marshmallows whilst having quality family time and meeting other families doing the same. Tenby is a short drive as are many other attractions which makes this place a nice base. Although we really enjoyed just hanging out on site relaxing. I would definitely recommend this site and would stay here again myself.
We stayed for 4 nights in august on Betty in a campervan. The site is brilliant, children were all able to play with each other in the middle of the field. The pitches were huge and the en-suite loo and shower were really clean (lovely hot water!!). Pizzas and ice cream gorgeous too. The location is great for exploring. Would highly recommend.
Lovely chilled vibe and massive pitch .. ideal for social distancing or antisocial
On arrival this place has a definite chilled vibe about it.. we arrived in rain with teenagers in tow and the prospect of wheelbarrowing our kit to the pitch .. but the hazy smoke of campfires and friendly neighbours made it instantly welcoming The shower was fab and so nice not to do the queue or the early morning dash to get the hot water , the compost loo was an eye opener in how much loo roll we used as a family ! And the shelter was a life saver - so much so we are building a replica back home in our garden , we sat here near the fire playing board games, drinking wine and taking rubbish - perfect ! Unfortunately Covid and self isolating staff meant pizzas and ice cream were off the menu but we spent early evenings at nearby Pendine Sands where the Chinese Takeaway is quick and tasty and the beach wide, Sandy and dog friendly (to the left!) Whitland has friendly locals and all you need, we used the Co-op daily Would be ideal for younger kids to explore the maze and woodlands without the worry of traffic Hope to return again
Lovely and peaceful.
Great place for small families. Lovely and clean with no fuss. Really enjoyed the way each pitch is split with own composite loo, shower, fire pit and rain cover. Owner was lovely. Even came out to jump start my car as we were leaving 😀
A unique peaceful campsite
We spent a great week on one of the campervan pitches. The site is lovely. It's really peaceful and each pitch has so much space, and are spaced well apart. There are fantastic views over the valley. There are so many nice touches that make camping there extra special. The dining shelter is brilliant and give you that extra bit of undercover space, as unfortunately one thing they can't control is the Welsh weather. Having your own shower and toilet is a very nice touch too. Don't be put off by the compost toilet it's cleaner and a lot less smelly than some sites I've stayed on. The site is on a hill but they have obviously put a lot of work into making sure the pitches are level and well drained. In a nutshell, Cowpots is the antithesis of over packed campsites it like luxury wild camping.
Gorgeous in EVERY way!
Definitely the best campsite we have ever stayed at, and we have visited a lot! Each pitch is HUGE and the Treefield also gives a lot of exploring space for adventurous children (and adults). Having your own loo and shower is also a great benefit. Not just because of 'Covid' times. No queuing or worrying that there are people waiting to go in after you. No wondering about the cleanliness of the facilities because you're in charge so you know it's clean. The shelter was another excellent bonus, offering some shade (we were there for the 3 extreme heat days) and a storage space. Plus having a table and benches provided means more room in the car. Firepit = winner for the children, making more marshmallow memories and learning about fire safety or criticising my fire building!! It is great to see a family creating this campsite for people to enjoy instead of monopolising on the space that is there. Other campsites would easily fit 3 pitches on the spot we had. The whole site is a joy to be on. There is a fridge and freezer to use and the walk is about half a mile (10 mins, if that) from the Treefield, a lovely cool morning walk with birdsong around you! Amroth beach is 12 mins drive. Quiet and the water was warm and clear when we visited. Go and have fun. See just what a campsite can be!
Peaceful campsite with wonderful views and delicious pizza!
We spent six nights at Cowpots during the July heatwave! While it was a little too hot for comfort, we really loved the campsite and will definitely be coming back. We stayed on the top field, which has the most amazing views of the surrounding countryside. Unlike other sites which try to maximise space for profit, it was lovely to have such a large pitch to ourselves. We also enjoyed having our own shower, washing up and toilet facilities, although I will echo other reviews that the compost toilet does take a bit of getting used to! We had pizzas from the on-site shop which were delicious, and I also managed to sneak away one evening for a very relaxing yoga session. We would highly recommend this site - Amelia and Martin are very friendly and helpful, and there is just so much to see in the surrounding area that we will look forward to returning.
Fantastic Stay at Cowpots!
Beautiful setting, great site with so much space, and fantastic to have own shower, toilet and firepit. Probably the best campsite I've stayed at, and would definitely visit again. PS - On site pizza is delicious!
We had a wonderful 3 night stay here - absolutely loved the en-suite facilities (even if a composting toilet takes a bit of getting used to!) beautiful views from the top track pitches and everything you could need from a campsite - lovely owners, large pitches, fire pit and fab pizza & ice-cream on site! Would definitely recommend this campsite.
Fantastic week. Clean facilities and lovely owners. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again. Recommended.
Fantastic surroundings and amazing campsites all within easy distance to all the great things that Pembrokeshire can offer.
All pitches are extremely clean and tidy and kept in an excellent state of repair, the showers and washing facilities are fantastic but most of all you are able to take pets and have a lovely real fire on your pitch. What a lovely weekend we had we will definitely be back again.
Very cool campsite
Wonderful 4 days at Cowpots campsite. Such a lovely experience, so much space, no noise and your own toilet & shower. Great views across to the Presceli mountains and lovely Laugharne just a few miles away.
Cowpot and tonic!
What a fantastic 5 nights we spent in the Middle field. The view across to the Preseli mountains and the sunsets were awesome. Plenty of space between pitches and the luxury of our own en-suite loo and shower. The campsite is perfectly situated to explore the Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire coasts and inland, walking heaven! We will return for sure!!
Awesome campsite in every way!
We discovered Cowpots last year by accident staying on ‘Thyme’ pitch for two nights. This year’s May half term trip was definitely no accident! This campsite is fantastic! This year we stayed on ‘Spring’ and booked 4 nights although towards the end we contemplated asking to stay another night! So … we’ve already booked to return next May! The campsite is set in a beautiful and peaceful location with lots of space for each pitch (we stayed in Tree Field). Facilities are excellent: picnic table and benches with a fairly large roof for a bit of cover; lovely big fire pit to enjoy the sunsets; toilet, shower and washing up area are great - spotlessly clean, simple and easy to use (every campsite should do this!). Shower has a massive head and there’s hot and cold water outside. Perfect environmentally friendly en suite facilities! The owners and staff are wonderful hosts - very friendly and helpful. We met Martin and Amelia this year (we only met Brian last year) - they are lovely people who have thought of lots of extras to make life as comfortable as possible, including a charging point in the barn and fridges/freezers (plenty of space for provisions) and next door they’ve set out some picnic tables and benches in case of bad weather. Which leads me onto pizzas and ice cream … Pizzas baked onsite to order and seriously delicious ice cream - rich and creamy with a fab variety of flavours. Awesome!! We had trouble staying away :). Location is perfect for the coast and interesting places to visit a short drive away. We have struggled to find fault with this lovely place. A couple of reviews may mention slopes … yes, pitches are a tiny bit slopey but barely an issue (not at all for hubby and small boy!) so one to ignore in our opinion - and cancelled out by peaceful and beautiful setting, lovely people and great facilities and we can’t rate the place highly enough! Thank you Cowpots for two great stays. See you next year x
Relaxing holiday, beautiful location and thoroughly enjoyed
Booking was easy and the communication and organisation before we arrived was excellent. We loved having ensuite facilities, the beautiful location and having everything we needed right on our pitch. It was an extra treat to have homemade pizza as soon as we arrived and the Cowpots ice cream was delicious too.
Fantastic site...will definitely visit again
This is the first time we have been camping in some years was and this is a fantastic site and a great introduction to camping to my kids, there is so much space, peace, and quiet. The facilities are excellent and the bonus of a pizzeria is even better. This is what camping should be and I cannot praise it highly enough, I will finish writing this and book for next year.
What all campsites should be.
Fantastic little campsite in a beautiful setting. Lovely large pitches carved into a flower meadow. Ensuite was perfect and clean. Pizza and ice cream facilities a nice bonus. Will definitely return and have already recommended to others.
A heavenly stay in a field of buttercups
Weve just returned from 4 nights camping at cowpots and we're already planning a return visit! We took our dog and two children and every single one of us, including the dog, had a wonderful time. The field was perfect, loads of space on each pitch, lovely and quiet and the facilities were great. Being car free on the field meant we could give the children a little more freedom to run about without the worry of traffic. We loved the honesty shop and having a campfire toasting marshmallows every evening. The pizzeria on the site was delicious, one of the best pizzas we've ever had! The site is close enough to the coast for beach days and nice walks which was great. And finally the emails from Cowpots to give directions and check we were OK once we had arrived were so helpful too.
Lived up to the top reviews
We enjoyed a beautiful weekend at Cowpots. I booked several months ago because of the social distancing it provided but it's also a fab site for a microcommunity. We met some lovely people and the kids made instant friends all feeling very safe with them playing together in our line of site. Really well thought out detail and top pizza & garlic bread. I'd best not say any more, we want to be able to book again 😉
Fab site, would love to visit again
We stayed for a week with our 2 dogs and booked this site as we wanted our own "en-suite" facilities to reduce the Covid risk. It was great having the lovely hot shower to ourselves. We soon got used to the compost loo! The pitch is huge which was such a contrast to some sites. Wheel barrowing the tent etc from the car park to the pitch is a bit of a hassle, but the upside is that the site is car free and safe for children. Having the pizzeria and ice cream parlour on site was a bonus - jaffa cake ice cream is scrummy. The site is well placed for visiting the Pembrokeshire coast and we did some superb walks along gorgeous sandy beaches and rocky headlands. For a bit of excitement check out Tenby Coasteering. Our tent took a battering from wind and rain, but we still had a great time, loved the site, and would definitely go back.
Absolutely breathtaking, and incredible showers!
We’ve just returned from the best week at Cowpots, and are already looking to book a return. The pitch was spotless, spacious and beautiful. The woods around the field and wildflowers covering the spaces between pitches are gorgeous, and the facilities can’t be faulted. The shower is so hot and powerful, and the toilet, though unusual, is not as scary as you might think! It’s lovely that we had a picnic bench and covered area, with the unpredictable weather! The ice cream/milkshakes/pizza are delicious and the owners are so friendly. Thank you so much for a perfect family holiday!
The views are breathtaking from the hillside. Amazing sunsets, peaceful setting and plenty of space to enjoy. We were really well looked after. The pizza and ice cream on site is out of this world. No need to leave site, but just a short hop to the beach. Small shops nearby too, handy. Skeptical about a composting loo beforehand but really not an issue at all. Can’t fault the entire experience, loved it all. Back soon
An amazing wild camping experience!
We had an amazing 5 night stay here with our two spaniels. The pitches are huge and the location is delightful. It’s by far the “wildest” camping experience we have ever had. If you like being by your car, and having lots of facilities like children’s play areas or heated washing up/ cooking/ shower areas, then it’s maybe not for you. But if, like us, you want to feel like you are camping in a wild nature- rich space then it’s absolutely perfect! The “en suite” toilet and shower areas are clean and well designed and it’s great having them all to yourself. The shower is super hot and there is plenty of space. The owners are really friendly and helpful but nicely hands off. We had a great time exploring the fab beaches and coast nearby. Recommend walking from Wisemans Bridge (free parking) to Saundersfoot and beyond as well as walks to Barfundel Bay and Tenby.
Fabulous camping experience
We’ve just had the best camping experience at Cowpots. We loved the space, the big starry skies, and the peace and quiet was joyful. The ‘on pitch’ shower and loo were great. Standing under a piping hot shower looking over the door to the trees was wonderful, and having our own facilities for the week meant we felt completely safe, covid-wise. It was brilliant to be able to have a campfire and we rustled up some great meals, though a night up at the Cowshed enjoying the delicious pizza and ice cream was also a treat. The shelter, table and benches on each pitch were really useful, and being able to move them around was handy for the morning or evening sun. Whitland was very convenient and we bought fantastic pasties there, as well as good fish and chips, and excellent sausages and bacon for breakfast. We enjoyed trips to Laugharne, the Preseli mountains and, of course, the Pembrokeshire coast. We absolutely loved our stay and would be delighted to visit again. I can’t imagine being lucky enough to have the same glorious week of sunshine second time around!
A very peaceful and safe stay
This is by far the best site we’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting! The pitches are exactly as the photos, with plenty of lovely space and a fantastic feeling of privacy. The undercover area is very useful, and there is a wooden kitchen table with a shelf, picnic table and benches which are not fixed to each other or the ground, meaning you can move them around the pitch to suit your needs and the weather. We enjoyed a wonderful camp fire every night, with firewood, kindling and fire starters all available in the honesty shed. The composting loo is very easy to use, feels very sanitary and private, as is the shower which has plenty of hot water. There is also a washing up station alongside the shower/loo hut as well. The pitches aren’t all perfectly level but we had no trouble finding an area of our huge pitch which was flat enough for comfortable camping and also enjoyed a lovely view over the hills. The on-site pizza is fantastic, as is the ice cream, and the owners are lovely but totally leave you to it which is nice - on hand if you need basically. Location was good for us, we visited Tenby and lots of the Pembrokeshire coast and never drove more than an hour to enjoy a full day out of sightseeing and hiking. Highly recommend
Wonderful Quiet Site
We stayed here for 7 nights and absolutely loved our stay. The space you have is just amazing with lots of room between pitches. We have a large family tent and had plenty of room on our pitch. Children have so much space to play freely and safely, our children loved exploring and playing by the fallen tree. The under covered seating area was great, especially as we didn’t have the best weather and endured storm Francis while on site, we used a wind break to make it more sheltered which really helped. The new private shower and toilet cubicles on each pitch are fabulous, my husband was dubious of using the composting loo but he managed fine. The showers have plenty of hot water and I could have stayed in there for hours! We enjoyed having a campfire and roasting marshmallows on our fire pit in the evenings and there is a small honesty shop on site which sells fire wood and marshmallows. The pitches are quite sloped which didn’t bother us but if you like a perfectly flat pitch then it may not be for you. Also you have to wheelbarrow your kit to your pitch, we liked this as it made the field feel extra safe when the children were playing but this may not be for everyone as some of the pitches are quite fat from the car park. Martin and Amelia were very friendly and available if you needed them, but just left you to get on with your stay which we liked. There are lots of lovely places to visit nearby and the site is well placed for both the Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire coast. We will definitely return.
Everything about Cowpots has been perfectly thought out. We loved the individual spaces and distance between each pitch, and the private toilet, hot shower, sink and covered picnic area were immaculate really well planned. The view across the hills is stunning. On top of all this, the family that run the farm are lovely, also serving home made pizza and delicious ice cream. Totally recommend this place in every way.
Fantastic site - bonus of own shower and loo!
Great site, especially for socially distanced camping! Pitches very spread out, so very peaceful and calm. The kitchen area with its roof was great - table, benches, worktop / cooking table and bin boxes. The icing on the cake is your own shower and loo which is amazing - no queuing and its a lovely hot shower, and next to the hut is the washing up sink. Would certainly go back again, but it appears to book up very fast - we got the last pitch for August by booking mid July!
Brilliant campsite, one of the best I've visited
We stayed a week at Cowpots with 2 young children and wouldn't change a thing. The meadow was beautiful and I loved how our plot was marked by the lawn. The owners have clearly given a lot of thought into making the campsite safe with the lovely hot shower, compost toilet and washing-up sink for each pitch. This made our life significantly easier and I'd like to thank the owners for thinking of this. The pitch was indeed a couple of minutes walk away from the where the cars are parked, but this wasn't a problem at all. Knowing that the ecology of the field is preserved by not having cars frequently driving through the meadow is worth it, it's safer for children playing on the campsite, and you can listen to the birds singing without the sound of cars packing up/ unpacking nearby. Plus, the wheelbarrow jaunts were a hit with my kids, and gave me some good exercise! Having the luxury of a table and chairs provided under a shelter made the experience more comfortable. We spent our evenings picking blackberries in the nearby bushes, walking up the hill to look out of the views and eating yummy ice cream provided on site. We will definitely visit again. Thank you for having us!
The perfect place to unwind
Cowpots offers a fantastic experience of amazing views, very spacious plots and fitting very well with our green principles. It really lets you get away from it all and recharge your batteries. Martin and Amelia are fantastic hosts and have developed the site into the best we have stayed at. This is our second year and we will be booking next year that's for sure
Great concept, a couple of flaws - enjoyable!
We’ve just returned home from a spontaneous 2 night stay at Cowpots, we were lucky enough to get a cancellation. We really enjoyed our stay but for future bookings...the ground isn’t level, especially on spring pitch where we stayed. The parking situation was our main bug bare, our pitch was the furthest away and it took 6 trips with the wheelbarrow, up a hill, along a boggy field to get our belongings to or from the car, far from ideal especially in the weather conditions we faced. Our pitch was very exposed to the elements, I’m not sure if others were better but as it’s on a hillside there isn’t much shelter from the wind, which made putting the tent up very difficult (it’s laughable now, but we very nearly took off, several times as the wind was that strong when we arrived). The shelter is a good idea, but could do with having maybe 1 or 2 sides added so that you can truly hide from the rain if it comes. It was no use to us because the rain was just blowing through. Overall the concept is brilliant, having your own toilet, shower and access to hot water whilst camping is luxury! The fire pit is a brilliant addition, as it’s difficult to find campsites allowing fires these days. We enjoyed pizza from the cowshed which was a delight, and what little interaction we did have with the owners was lovely.
Excellent Site with your own facilities
Just had an excellent stay at Cowpots (31st July 2020 - 3rd August 2020). This was the first time we have stayed here and the pitch sizes are extremely large giving you easily enough room for any tent plus room to spare. Each pitch has its own toilet and shower as well, which was a real great addition and something I have never seen on any other campsite. The showers are instantly hot (gas powered) and with the monsoon shower head you get a great shower with views over the rolling hills without being overlooked by anyone which I thought was amazing. The firepit on each pitch is another great addition as having a real fire adds to your experience and keeps the cold away on those chillier nights. The under cover eating areas on each pitch are also really goo, much more substantial than I thought they would be and gave you the perfect place for meals and somewhere to hang those towels and wetsuits. All in all an excellent stay at a very good site with your own ensuite to cap it all off. 5 out of 5 and will definitely be booking again.
Excellent facilities, friendly and helpful owners. Highly recommended.
We stayed at Cowpots for 3 nights from 13th July 2020. The site had just been allowed to reopen with covid secure facilities. The pitches are very large and well spaced- the new composting toilet, shower and washing up facilites on pitch are excellent and well planned out. One of our group had an initial problem with their water (which was down to teething problems) and this was fixed very quickly with no issues. The owners were great in their communication before hand when we didn't know if the site would open or not, and even where we were there- as the communal facilites weren't open they happily took our cool packs and re-froze them for us. The field is great for kids- with a large grass labyrynth to run around in and a fallen tree to play around- as well as woods to walk in and mown football pitch in the middle for a kick around. There are on pitch table and benches in an outdoor 'kitchen' shelter- but the shelter only has a roof so worth bringing a wind break to block the prevailing wind/rain (it is wales!) if you want to keep this area dry. There are fire circles on each pitch- and wood/kindling/firleighters available at all times in the 'shop' at the top of the field. Owners are lovely and we will definately be returning again to this site. Would highly recommend
Just arrived home from staying here, was so good we stayed an extra night. Facilities are excellent your very own hot shower, toilet and sink area. Pizza and ice cream are delicious from the Cowshed. We look forward to coming back.
Fantastic site! Tree field is beautiful and there is plenty of space between pitches. The small number of pitches means the site is quiet and if you are looking to get away from it all this is your place. The en-suite facilities are a game changer and meant we could be away with complete confidence during these challenging times. 20 minutes to beautiful beaches. Pizzeria and ice-cream on site at the farm - could not ask for anything more. Martin and the family were so welcoming and friendly. We will be back!
Could have been better
Just returning from 5 nights at Cowpots Camping. We stayed on the newly created area outside the main field. The pitch was ridiculously small and we struggled for about 45 minutes trying to fit our 4 man tent onto grass with a bank on one side and slope on the other. Consequently on the first night in heavy wind and rain our less than perfectly pitched tent had water running underneath the bedroom compartments, and the local slug population had taken up residence! There is a huge disparity between this area and the beautiful field the other side of the hedge whose occupants with vast spacious freshly mown grassy pitches and glorious views we eyed enviously. However, as stoic seasoned campers we made the most of 5 day break and understand from the owners that they do have plans to increase the size and facilities on these pitches. Pizzas from the Cowshed were very good, as was the Scoopasaurus ice cream. We liked the honesty shop for campfire wood and sundries, and the owners were very friendly. Looking forward to going home to flushing toilets.
I have returned today from a 3 night stay on probably the best campsite I've stayed on in years! Each pitch has its on toilet and shower hut with hot and cold running water for washing up. The individual pitches are huge with so much space to enjoy. The climbing tree and games pitch are visible from all pitches to a degree and as no cars are allowed on site it gives children the space and freedom to just be children! The views are stunning and it's so quiet at night it was a pleasure to sit out and star gaze. The track to the pitches is a true farm track and only room for 1 car but due to the limited amount of ppl and vehicles this was not a problem for us at any point. The only downside is a lack of charging facilities for phones/ tablets ect but apparently this is being looked into so I expect it will be included soon. We enjoyed some fabulous pizza from the onsite pizzeria pricey but worth it for a treat! The ice-cream is a must try. A perfect site for those who enjoy good old no frills camping!!!
Excellent site - new additions of shower and toilet for each pitch is brilliant and saves a lot of walking around with children.
Wonderful campsite run by great people
We were honoured to be the first campers of 2020 and we had a fantastic weekend at Cowpots. - Martin and Amelia are lovely people who took time to chat and make us feel very welcome. They have clearly been working exceptionally hard to make Cowpots the best it can be and to make sure they can operate in a COVID compliant manner. - The pitches are huge. 10 pitches on an 11 acre field is massive and it all felt very spacious. You will not need to worry about being too close to other campers. - The en-pitch bathroom pods are brilliant. They provide privacy for you and your family and I enjoyed the luxury of a piping hot shower each morning. - The ability to have a campfire is also great (and becoming rarer on campsites) and there is plenty of bundled firewood on site at reasonable prices. - We ate wood-fired pizzas from the Cowshed and they were sensational. I’m gutted that we missed out on the ice cream, as the other customers at the cowshed were all raving about it, but we spent too long at the beach and mistimed it. Next time... In the interest of balance, - The campervan pitches are flat, but overall the field has a gently slope, so you will not be able to pitch your tent on perfectly level ground. Not a problem for us, but worth knowing if you like to be spirit-level flat. - The road to the campsite includes some uneven winding farm track. Martin and Amelia have clearly done their best to level it out and improve the surface, but it is still a bumpy ride. We managed fine in our 30 year old campervan, but if your vehicle is very big, lowered, or very elderly then it might be an interesting challenge. Overall, a gem of a campsite, that gave us everything we could have hoped for - A friendly welcome, huge pitches, top notch facilities, proximity to lovely beaches, cracking campfires, and tasty food. Highly recommended.
A little piece of perfect and wonderful memories
We have just left and we where sad to go. Spacious pitch, fantastic showers ! Nice and hot. A playing pitch for the kids, fire pits and the best feature was your own sheltered picnic area. One of the best sites we have even been too.
Response from Cowpots Camping
Thanks so much for your review! :)
The Best, most peaceful, spacious campsite ever
Just returned from a week's stay at Cowpots. Myself and my son thought this was by far and away the best campsite we have ever stayed at. The space, the setting, the facilities (shelter, fire pits, Cowshed pizzeria) were fantastic and if I was to ever put a wish list together as to what a perfect campsite would be ... this is it. Martin is an exceptional host and his focus on people's experience and making sure all is well for them is second to none. Thank you for making our time just what we were looking for. We spent a lot of our holiday cycling and there are many off road trails - for example -Millennium coastal park (35 mins drive - Pembury Country Park - 13 miles), Swiss Valley at Crosshands - Llanelli (35 mins drive). We will most certainly be back next year and will spread the word.
Response from Cowpots Camping
Thanks very much for your review Stephen. Looking forward to seeing you again this year!
Peaceful, well thought out, picturesque, amazing self contained pitches
Just returned from a bank holiday weekend stay at this campsite. By far the best site we've stayed at in 5 years of family bank holiday get always. 3 families on 3 pitches near to each other - so much space! Individual awning/cooking/seating areas meant we could leave the table, cooking stand etc at home - brilliant for making room in car. Fire pits by night and clear skies for star gazing.... kids had a ball. Great for young families as so much space to explore. Martin was a fab host. Enjoyed day trip to Laugharne Castle and Amroth Beach. Pizza and icecream on site were a hit with all. Will return and will spread the word about this site.
Quiet, secluded, spacious
Just back from a three night stay at Cowpots with my group of 6 (3 kids and 3 adults) and we had an amazing time. Definitely back next year. Facilities all adequate but for kids and smaller adults the toilets (long drop) could do with being lower down, they’re quite high! For people planning on staying: Choose a tent pitch where possible as the two campervan pitches, while level for vans are quite sloped for tents. Overall a great experience and seamless from booking to pitching.
Cowpots is one of the best campsites we have stayed at. We received the warmest welcome on arrival and shown to our campervan pitch. The set up is brilliant and the undercover kitchen area and fire pit are great. The facilities on site are brilliant and really clean. An added bonus for this site is the pizzeria and ice cream which were amazing and very reasonably priced. The local area is great and lots of fab beaches. Everyone was so friendly and helpful, we had the best week here and highly recommend it, we will be back!
Truly beautiful and well cared for
A wonderful place, spacious, and set against a back drop of rolling hills. We will be back. Thank you for a special stay!
We Love It!
Just got home from our 3rd stay at Cowpots Camping. We thought it can't get any better but it does! Spacious pitches, good facilities, beautiful views & friendly owners. We will keep going back
The perfect campsite!
We loved our week long stay with our 16 month old! The owner is really lovely and driven by providing the best experience he can for his campers; he’d thought of everything to make an isolated spot comfortable and easy to enjoy. Particularly great was the shelter which allowed us to enjoy being outdoors rain or shine. The pizzeria and ice cream parlour are also wonderful. There’s loads to see and do in the local area, great beaches, castles and gardens. We will be back!

Thank you for your kind words Helen, we're so glad you enjoyed your stay! :)
A camping idyll!
We booked Cowpots for one night en route to meeting friends at another site - wish we had been able to change our arrangements and stay all week! A perfect spot (even in the rain). Pizza and good conversation meant we didn't have to dig out all the cooking equipment, devine icecream necessitated several return trips during the week, and we booked next years holiday there the moment we got home!!! Have bored so many friends with our glowing reports that they have thrown in the towel and booked in themselves!

Thank you Anna! We're so glad you enjoyed your stay - look forward to seeing you next time!
I brought my 2 children here as a first camping experience and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. The site facilities were brilliant and the friendly service in the cow shed was second to none. The pizzas and ice cream are definitely not to be missed either!

The perfect balance of comfort and off-grid family camping
We visited Cowpots for our final family camp of last year, and are very glad we did. The campsite had real charm and our plot felt special and spacious, with an undercover area for cooking and eating. The facilities provided everything we needed without losing that off-grid feel. The kids enjoyed exploring the woodland surrounding the campsite. The location is great for exploring the area, and we visited Kidwelly castle and Laugharne, which the kids loved. On our last night we ate at the pizzeria. The food and wine were delicious, and the people warm and friendly. Looking forward to our next trip.

Perfect camping spot!
We have just got back from our first trip to Cowpots Camping. We really enjoyed our stay! Everything was simple. The pitches are beautiful, well spaced out with your own campfire & table undercover. Toilet facilities & washing up shed are perfect & well kept! The pizzas are amazing too!! We will definitely be back, when the weather gets warmer as it was a tad chilly last night! It was lovely to switch off and enjoy the simple things & for the kids to play outside until the sun set! Perfect!!
Space, peace, great views and clean facilities
Debs and I spent a long weekend at Cowpots in July 2018 and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. A weekend away felt like a week. We turned up late on the Friday due to a late finish at work but we were met in the dark by the site owner who took the time to take us to our pitch and make us feel welcome despite the late hour. After some directions to the facilities we were left to ourselves. We pitched our tent in the light of the Landy and dispatched a bottle of wine while sitting on the thoughtfully provided picnic table under a canvas tarp (3 different bins and water also provided). We had spent a few weeks in some pretty muggy and hot weather, (as far as the UK goes), and were delighted when it started to rain. A few more glasses of wine later we decided we should get some sleep. Unfortunately, we had left the back of the tent open to the downpour so what looked like an inviting bed was a soggy mess. I don't want to blame anyone for this or name any names but it was the girlfriend's fault. So we salvaged any dry bedding and pulled some spare blankets and clothes out of the Landy and made the best of it. We woke in the morning to find that we had a great pitch at the top of the site with lovely views across the Preselli hills. There are only I think 10 pitches across an 11 acre site with long grass in between, so plenty of space and privacy; such a refreshing change from the commercial campsites we've sadly grown too used to. Further to the canvass awning, picnic table, bins and water, each pitch has a fire pit, with logs available from the 'honesty shack' nearby. Obviously, for those with wood at home it is worth bringing your own logs as bundles of logs will always be more expensive but it all goes back to the site so it didn't bother us too much. Compost loos were clean and functional and the showers were hot and plentiful. The shack also provided some washing up facilities, all lit with solar lighting when needed and plenty of information. After a trip to the launderette in the local town to dry our bedding, we weren't in the mood for much traveling particularly as the campsite was in such a nice spot but we did make it to Barafundle Bay for a swim in the sea and half a day on the beach, which was beautiful. We sampled the pizza one evening from The Cowpots Cowshed just at the entrance to site but a little walk down the access track to the camping ground. It was very popular with the locals and we could see why. Pizza was handmade and cooked to perfection and we could not have been made to feel more welcome. We took our pizzas back to our pitch and ate them around the campfire. We will be going back in the next few weeks, so we will be sure to have a night in the Cowshed this time! On the final morning we packed up and headed out but not before sampling the Cowshed ice cream, which was great. We also picked up a few cheeky local ciders to clink together on our return and remind us of a lovely weekend. Looking forward to going back. If you want a proper campsite, where you are left to your own devices, can have a camp fire, a separate pitch away from other people with some nice clean facilities in a lovely spot, with owners who obviously care about their campers, then you won't be disappointed.

Ah what a lovely response! Thank you so much for taking the time to write this review!
We love Cowpots Camping
I may be a little bias, but whenever we get the chance we pack up the van and head down to the Camping field at Cowpots! We love the campfires and undercover areas. The stars at night are amazing! My children love making friends with all the other children on site, and enjoy playing football on the communal games pitch in the centre of the field. It’s great to be able to relax and let the kids roam free 😊
Beautiful & relaxing. Highly recommend
Beautiful setting, excellent facilities & welcoming owners. Lots of space between pitches. Will definitely be returning
A camping idyll!
We booked Cowpots as a one night stop over before moving on to another site to meet friends. If we hadn't already paid for the other site we would certainly have stayed put! What a lovely place. Space, privacy, silence, flat pitches!! And the BEST camping showers ever. Could not have been made more welcome, water already delivered to our pitch, and not an eyebrow raised when we rocked up for pizza 5 minutes before closing - great pizza, great icecream and great conversation. Took our friends back to see it (and so they could experience the jaffa cake icecream) and will all be booking in for a week next summer. Thank you!

What’s not to love about this spot...stunning views, plenty of space, lovely warm showers and clean facilities. A lovely friendly welcome and delicious pizza and ice cream to top it all off! We visited as my youngest requested he be camping for his birthday...he had the best birthday ever (according to him!) We look forward to coming back for another visit!

Beautiful Gem in the Hills
We had a wonderful welcome from Martin, the owner, and were shown to our pitch with an overwhelmingly beautiful view of the Preselli Hills and Carmarthenshire. The facilities were everything we needed with a canopy equipped with all recycling facilities, a picnic bench and surface space. The composting loos were very well kept and maintained and hot running water in the showers!! There is an honesty box with marshmallows and a starter pack for kindling and logs. The washing up space with all eco friendly detergents were in-keeping with the whole ethos at Cowpots, which is right up our street! The little paths mown into the field made it easy to keep track of the children and there was a small open space for playing ball games which was great! We will definitely be back 😊

The open space!
We only stayed 1 night but will be back.... I opened the door and the kids just ran (and ran) around the mown paths. I had a camper pitch and loves that I didn't need to unpack all the seating and table paraphernalia, the covered over table/kitchen area was great as we had drizzle at breakfast time...

Gem of a place!
What a lovely campsite! Stunning view of the countryside, modern and clean facilities (showers were fab), large well kept pitches and friendly owners. We were looking for something a bit different after staying at a large, busy campsite in the Gower and this certainly fit the bill. We would definitely recommend and hope to return next summer. Oh and the Cowshed's pizza and ice-cream are good too! Best wishes to Martin.

Quite possibly the best campsite we have ever stayed in! The pitches are large and very well spaced out with wonderful long meadow grass in between with mown paths to make your way around the camping field. We arrived to a perfectly kept pitch, with our own canopy structure and table with benches. There was even a water drum and individual recycling bins ready for us, along with enough wood for a campfire. The facilities were excellent and very clean. The showers were brilliant too. A beautiful, secluded campsite ideally located for exploring a scenic part of Wales. Make sure you book in for a tasty pizza too!

Excellent campsite - very eco, but nice facilities on pitches and toilets/showers etc. Pizza restaurant on-site - well worth a visit and only 20 mins from Carmarthen.
