Great Stay

We arrived quite late, but Callie and Gwyn greeted us and had even left a board out telling us where to go and what to do just in case. They were very friendly from the outset and whenever we bumped into them throughout our 3 night stay. The pitch was as expected and we rented a fire pit and fire wood can be bought from the site. The toilets and showers were brand new, immaculately kept. and the barn had a fridge for our food and somewhere to charge our phones. The views from the site back down to the Menai Striate are spectacular and would recommend to anyone to stay here.

Peaceful, personal, and a warm welcome

I stayed at Bert's for 3 nights with 3 friends during September. The first thing that we noticed was the friendly warm welcome we received by Cali and Gywn who introduced us and told us about the area and places to visit. The campsite is small and quiet, cosy and well equipped with showers, toilets, and a fridge/freezer. It's an ideal place for a relaxing retreat with a calm atmosphere. The location is fairly remote and you get some beautiful views of the coast from the camping area. I would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting a comfortable camping getaway.

Tranquil, laid back "proper" camping!

We booked last minute - same day, and spent 2 nights here. The most peaceful campsite - rarely do you hear any traffic noise as you're not near any main roads. The most amazing "dark skies" - my other half was like an excited 5 year old to see the Milky Way in 2 different positions on our 2nd night! Callie and Griff are wonderful hosts and one of the highlights of our weekend was chatting to them. The campsite has "open air" type facilities for loos and shower (currently only one shower, but usually 2), so if you have one, bring a towelling robe/dry robe for after your shower to wrap yourself in, especially as the nights draw in. We will be back - thank you for a wonderful stay, Callie and Griff! xx

Fantastic Stay!

We had booked to stay at Bryn Ifan's from Monday to Friday - but were itching to get away and arrived on the Saturday instead! Callie and Gwynn immediately made us welcome and found us a spare spot to pitch our tent. The site is lovely - with great views to both the mountains and the sea. The small number of pitches make the campsite feel really special, and adds to the feeling of being in the middle of nowhere! The facilities are well appointed and very clean. Firepits and BBQs are also available. Callie and Gwynn were exceptional hosts and full of useful information about the area, places to see and hikes to tackle. This campsite may be on the pricier side - but worth the extra for it's beautiful location, it's wonderful hosts and the tranquility it offers!

Getting There

From Caernarfon, take the A499 towards Pwllheli and take a left at Clynogg Fawr. Look for a signpost for Londis. Take the second left onto Llys Eben, and then take the first right towards Capel Uchaf. Keep going until you go through the Hamlet of Capel Uchaf and follow the road for about 2 miles until you take a right-hand turn. The first entrance is for the house only, so keep following the road up until you see the signs for Bert's at Bryn Ifan.  There's a railway station at Pwllheli, 10 miles away. The number 12 bus runs from Pwllheli (and in the other direction from Caernarfon)/ The nearest large railway station is Bangor, a 45-minute drive away. There is a taxi rank at the station.
