This camping pod is ideal for families or groups of friends wanting a holiday in rural Wales, and it is also dog friendly and suitable for disabled users or guests with limited mobility. It is the largest of our three camping pods, and it offers a warm and insulated space with fitted lights for snuggling up to read your book in the evening, an oil filled heater for extra comfort, and electric sockets to keep all of those essential gadgets topped up. In warm weather, we'll also include an electric fan. You can hire camp beds (max 4 single beds) and additional inflatable mattress toppers, which offer a practical alternative to camping mats and airbeds, and you can also stow your bits and pieces underneath the bed (home from home really). The Bryn-Gwyn camping pod is situated adjacent to the car park, communal area and toilet/shower pods so everything you need is easily accessible. The outside decking area is a space to relax in and gaze at the open countryside by day and the stars by night, taking in the fresh air and peace and quiet. There is a sensor security light that illuminates the decking area, which can be switched on or off. The double doors are lockable from the inside and outside, and there is an inside blind that you can pull over the doorway for your privacy as well as a small rear window (also with a blind) and vents to aid ventilation. This camping pod is also dog friendly.

The pod is adjacent to the shared toilet/shower washroom pods and the shared kitchen area, where you will find two washing up sinks (with hot water), a worktop, and two kettles, toasters and electric twin-hob hot plates along with two picnic benches.

Tents can be booked as a extra alongside your pod booking. Dogs can be booked as a extra and will be subject to our Dog Policy. Small campervans as part of a group exclusive use booking may be allowable - please contact us. Sorry no caravans. Non-family groups MUST BE OVER 30 YEARS OF AGE and we recommend booking the whole site for exclusive use.

A mile down the road there's a horse riding centre (01497 851669). They offer half hour routes for kids and beginners and longer hacks for the more experienced. The local, heather-clad hills are covered in bridleways and it's a fantastic way to cover the ground. Also popular is a drive to the river Wye. Here you can hire canoes (07414 935965) and drift your way down stream, another great way to explore the area! For something a little more sedate, a drive to Hay-on-Wye leads to a wealth of good independent shops – particularly antique and book shops. The town also marks the northern edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park, another real hub for outdoor pursuits. The Elan Valley is also well worth a visit, as well as the surrounding towns on the Welsh Border.

Food & Drink

BBQs are permitted and there's a large brick BBQ available for use. The nearest pub, The Roast Ox (01497 851398), can be found at Painscastle (4 miles away) and there is also a good bar and restaurant at Rhosgoch Golf Club (3 miles; 01497 851251). For the maximum choice head to Hay-on-Wye, or refer to the more extensive list provided in your pod.

Beautiful Spot

Great stay at one of the pods and cae bell pitch. Quiet and beautiful spot. Jess was very helpful and friendly with organising our trip. Lots of clear advice and instructions. Facilities perfect and very clean. Thoroughly enjoyed our time here and would definitely return and recommend

Our third stay in Bryn Gwyn pod. Kitchen and toilet/shower were spotless, as always. Such a beautiful, tranquil place with wonderful views of the surrounding hills and just the sound of birdsong, farm animals and the odd tractor for company. We didn’t want to leave.

Great to get away from it all

We hired out Powys Pods for a family get-together for my Dad's Birthday. Jess and her lovely dogs greeted us on arrival, she had got the heaters on in our pods so they were nice and cosy! We had terrible weather the day of arrival so Jess had very kindly got her bothy cleared out for us to cook and eat in. With it being based up in the hills you get glorious views but you are quite exposed to the wind which proved tricky at times. It was all part of the experience! The facilities were excellent! Warm, clean, and well supplied. There is an excellent BBQ as well which we managed to utilise on our last evening. The setting is stunning and it is so peaceful there! We would definitely come and stay again. There are some great local walks and Jess gave us some suggestions for things to do in not such great weather. Erwood Station Gallery and Hay on Wye are wonderful places to visit.

Highly Recommended

We used the tent pitch for a couple of nights, it's a stunning location with superb facilities. Really nice touch having a built in little fire pit and picnic bench to use while camping. Added bonus that it's situated away from the other pods/facilities so it feels very secluded. Shower/toilets were very clean, everything was in excellent condition and the location is great for walking, cycling and relaxing. The sunset's are amazing from the tent pitch.

There has been a lot of thought given to creating a perfect pod camping experience. Each pod has been thoughtfully constructed and the layout is light an airy. The bathroom and kitchen areas are equally as thoughtfully put together. Covid has clearly impacted on all aspects of hospitality but you sense that these pods were very easy to put in Covid procedures. To sum up perfect clean beautiful pod camping in a great location.

Getting There

Customers are emailed detailed directions and check-in information a few days before their stay. The nearest train station is either Hereford or Llandrindod Wells and the nearest bus is to Hay-on-Wye or Kington. These are still a bit of a distance away, though, so a car is advised.
