The Owner Says

The Family Suite:

The Family Suite comprises 2 rooms: a double room with a fabulous bespoke bed made on the farm from local alder and an adjoining single room with a sweet antique French cherry wood bed with a pull-out bed underneath for an extra child.  It is en-suite with a shower above the bath.  It is suitable as a twin room, a double room and a family suite.  It is dog friendly being conveniently situated on the ground floor of the 200 year old Welsh farmhouse.

During the evenings guests are invited to enjoy the dining/living room and relax in front of the log burner or sit out in the garden and watch the sun go down when it is warmer.  The room and indeed whole farmhouse is crammed with original artwork and furniture made on the farm with local wood.

There are always fresh flowers from the gardens in all the rooms.  With crisp cotton sheets, Welsh blankets, soft feathery pillows and mattresses like clouds, a good night’s sleep is assured.

Candlelit breakfasts with the fire roaring during the winter are quite an occasion.  With table cloths and napkins, flowers and tea leaves it is a pretty unique experience.  The extensive breakfast menu where almost all the ingredients are organic makes choosing what to have a bit of a dilemma.  It includes mouthwatering Welsh delicacies such as cockles and laverbread, porridge with local whisky, Canadian pancakes, local haloumi, homemade marmalade, freshly baked bread, own recipe organic sausages, fresh eggs from the hens, vegetarian and vegan options and special diets can catered for too.  The classic Farmers Breakfast with its happy organic bacon and sausages will certainly set you up for the day.  Be sure to book enough nights to try it all!

About Nantgwynfaen Organic Farm

Suitable For

Nantgwynfaen Organic Farm is suited to lovers of the great outdoors, all things organic, birds, wildlife and those who need just a bit of peace and quiet.  It is a place where the good life really exists, where the pace is slow and where simple pleasures like good food and a warm fire are all you need.  It appeals to those who don't simply want to camp in a crowded field and share facilities with an entire county, it is for those who prefer things a little quieter, where you are based in your own private slice of an organic farm.  A place of walks, fires & good food.  What more could you want? Maybe a pint from the local micro brewery and a G&T from the local distillery.....

Holidays at Nantgwynfaen are perfectly suited to couples, families, groups, dogs, children and all other nice people.

Nearby

It's a short drive to Cardigan Bay, famous for its bottlenose dolphins. The Ceredigion Heritage Coast is home to lovely seaside towns and villages like Llangrannog – where you can even go dry-slope skiing – and New Quay, a wonderful little fishing village a few miles south from the colourful harbour town of Aberaeron. There's a host of good beaches and an array of great walking routes, while further south the Pembrokeshire Coast Path takes in the best of the National Park and its dramatic coastline, as does the longer Wales Coast Path. The National Wool Museum (free entry) is a short drive from the farm, while Newcastle Emlyn is 10 minutes away and boasts the ruins of a 13th century castle, good restaurants, and a country market every Friday. The River Teifi offers trout fishing, walking trails and canoeing in most places.  This is a great area for Coasteering.  There is a comprehensive list of things to do and places to eat in this fabulous area on our website  www/organicfarmwales.co.uk.

Food & Drink

There's a farm shop on site specialising in local and organic produce.  Ken can make a loaf of flower pot bread to order.  Breakfast can also be served in the farmhouse to guests who are not staying for B&B .  The price is £15/adult/£7.50/child(2-11)/pp/breakfast and booking is essential (and subject to availability).   A couple of miles down the road lies The Daffodil Inn (01559 370343) at Penrhiwllan, a cracking gastropub (listed in the Michelin Guide) with stunning views of the Teifi Valley countryside from its dining room.  Teifi Cheese Farm is very nearby and is a lovely place to stock up on local cheese and buy award winning botanical and seaweed gin from their organic distillery (book to go on a distillery tour).  Cardigan is a great place to eat in.  Buy local crab and other delicacies from the Tuesday Market in St Dogmaels then eat at Pizza Tipi, Crwst, Bara Menyn (amazing sour dough) and El Salsa Mexican street food (you might need a couple of trips!).  Fantastic fresh organic vegetables are grown at Glebelands Market Garden (Thurs-Sat) at St Dogmaels.  There is a very nice well stocked village shop at Penrhiwllan Stores.  More places to eat are listed on our website or can be emailed on request.
