A cool retro caravan for glampers and traditional tent camping on this charming organic farm near Cardigan Bay.

On the lush, green slopes of the Teifi Valley, Amanda and Ken Edward’s charming smallholding is the centre point for their diverse enterprises. In a small workshop, Ken crafts Welsh oak and chestnut into bespoke furniture, while the hens scratching outside supply eggs to the organic farm shop. Their 170-year-old farmhouse is also the quaint setting for a bed & breakfast, where the aroma of wholesome home-cooking wafts through the open window to the manicured garden beyond. Here, tucked in a private space with stunning views, another of the couple’s fine-tuned ventures tempts in holidaymakers looking for a cosy, rural bolthole.

Nantgwynfaen Organic Farm offers something for everyone with a delightfully intimate five pitch campsite supplementing an impressive glamping retreat. For starters, there’s The Glamavan – an aptly named lodging for those who want a hassle-free holiday with all the furnishings of home. This large retro static caravan is finished with everything you need, including a fully-fitted kitchen with gas oven cooker, microwave, kettle, toaster, fridge, sink and kitchen utensils. There’s a bathroom (with shower), a TV and DVD player and oil paintings hanging on the walls. The double and small twin rooms are divided from the main space, while a large bay window seat provides ample space to sleep a fifth person.

For camping purists wanting to pitch their own tent, there are five cannily crafted plots secreted amongst the grounds. These peaceful, private pockets are all unique, with one beside the woodland, another overlooking the valley and a special one amongst the fruit trees. Fires are permitted on most and one is also equipped for a small caravan or campervan. Whichever spot you opt for, you’ll be guaranteed West Wales nature in all its glory, including buzzards and red kites circling majestically overhead.

Step out from the retro Glamavan interior and enjoy a BBQ in the sun, or stock up on lovely local and organic produce from the onsite farm shop. Guests can also make the most of the B&B by ordering one of the farm’s home-cooked breakfasts to enjoy in the stone and slate farmhouse. As local sausages sizzle in the pan your nose leads you back round to the stone and slate farmhouse where an old, lime-washed milling barn has been transformed into a rainy day hideout. Beneath a beamed roof, a well-stocked games room awaits the kids, while, when the sun returns, a Wendy house promises outdoor fun. The best idea, though, is to slip on your wellies for a wander around the farm. The babbling streams, colourful orchards, sociable animals and plentiful wildlife make Nantgwynfaen Organic Farm an easy place to lose track of time. And with the added comforts of the Glamavan you’ll be in no rush to get away.

When you do jump back in the car, this rural farmstead is poised in prime position to see the best of West Wales. A 30 minute drive takes you straight to the coast and to the charming fishing village of New Quay, it’s houses stacked upon the hillside. To the south, Pembrokeshire National Park boasts some of the UK's most dramatic sea-carved scenery. Excellent fishing and pleasant walks can be found on the banks of the River Teifi, the longest river in Wales and the natural sculptor of the views you enjoy from the comfort of the Glamavan.

Clean, friendly and secluded

Really lovely family campsite. Clean toilets (choice of composting or flushing) and washing up area. Beautiful location. Campsites have privacy thanks to the generous greenery surrounding them. On site farm shop is a real bonus, selling fresh milk, cheese, veg and sundries (meat is in chest freezers so will need to plan ahead for bbqs!). Note also the the ground in our campsite (Hind) is quite hard and bumpy so airbeds are recommended for a comfy night’s sleep. Will definitely visit again.

What a place

This is truly how camping should be if you ask me! Plenty of space and stunning view! We stayed a week and could easily have stayed more! Each spot is unique and there is full of lovely details everywhere, Amanda and Ken could not be more helpful and lovely. We really enjoyed the private spot and the shower we had on our pitch. The farm shop is a amazing and you only need to go shopping if you need wine otherwise the shop proved everything you might want, Ken’s freshly baked bread in the morning was lovely and such a treat! We can wait to return to this little plot of paradise! Thanks again for everything and for making our stay so lovely.

A pleasure to stay

We spent 6 nights on sonofapitch, the view is stunning and the outdoor private shower in a morning was my highlight. Ken and Amanda are lovely people and keep the farm and facilities lovely and clean. The farm shop is amazing they have everything you need, and it was lovely to shop everyday and not have to go to the supermarket and think of things you might need. Ken’s bread is wonderful we really enjoyed it. Wouldn’t hesitate to go again as it’s a lovely area and very close to many little beach towns like new quay and Aberporth both lovely. Thanks ken and Amanda for making us so welcome.

Brilliant getaway!

The ConTENTed pitch was protected from the wind, private, and very pretty. The views, the space, and the starry skies (not striclty part of the campsite!) really helped us to relax, and the firebowl was ideal for winding down after busy days out and about around Ceredigion. The washing and loo facilities were excellent, and there can be no better campsite/farm shop in the known world; the produce is varied and the quality is high. Ken and Amanda were relaxed and friendly hosts, Ben and Dave (the dogs) were a hoot, and the birdlife and rabbits kept us amused throughout our stay. We had a great time!

A perfect end to the Summer!

Amanda and Ken’s little haven was the perfect find for us and a brilliant way to spend the last few days of Summer 2020. Our pitch (Sun of a Pitch) was a great little hideaway for us to kick back, relax and sit outside and take in the stunning views of the valleys. The pitch is great if you have a dog because we had a gate to keep our pitch closed and have peace of mind that Bal, our lab wouldn’t run off anywhere! The ground is quite rocky so ensure you bring good pegs. Amanda and Ken mention this in their welcome email so do read it as it’s full of lots of great info. Bal loved sunbathing and saying hello to Ben and Dave the friendly and adorable farm dogs! The farm shop on site was a lovely addition - we had lamb burgers one night and chicken curry the other! And we could never forget Ken’s home made bread, delivered to us warm in the morning. Thank you Amanda and Ken for being such great hosts. We loved staying in your beautiful farm.

A Tranquil Escape

Amidst the stresses of the current situation, our stay at Nantgwynfaen was just the tonic we needed! The location is stunning. We camped on the conTENTed site which was nicely hidden away with lovely views over the valley. Amanda and Ken were wonderfully accommodating and very helpful. The measures in place made us feel all the more safe and the facilities were ideal and kept very clean. The sausage sandwiches were an ideal start to our days too! We really couldn't have asked for more and couldn't recommend Nantgwynfaen enough!

Lovely stay

Just returned from a mid week break at Nantgwynfaen, Amanda & Ken are great hosts, lovely secluded pitches, the whole site is so peaceful and a real escape from the bustle of everyday life. Highly recommend you try the venison steaks, even a camping cooker chef like me cannot fail to impress. All facilities clean and corona aware. Highly recommend.

Perfect escape

Its our 3rd stay in the Glamavan and it feels like our 2nd home now. Amanda and Ken are wonderful hosts and Ken's bread is tops. In light of the pandemic we knew that would be safe and we certainly felt totally safe. 150% recommended

What a tonic

We camped but the conversions looked amazing. A real haven of tranquility, buzzards, kites and barn owls all very welcoming. Amanda and Ken are perfect hosts, very knowledgeable about the local area and producers. You must try Ken's bread and Amanda's flowers were a reminder of the best campsite we've stayed at for ages, and lasted almost as long as the gin and cheese we bought from just around the corner.

A soul enriching haven

Amanda, Ken and family share their beautiful environment with some very lucky people. We camped on the sun of a pitch site, next time we'd be really tempted by the music room. We shared our site with the buzzards and heard the kites, probably more exciting were the nightly trips to watch the resident barn owls. The shop is amazing, Ken's bread is a must and Amanda's flowers look great growing throughout the site or picked and displayed at wash stations, the shop, on the corner of each pitch, in fact it's hard to remember a spot without any flowers. If you do leave the site you're in the middle of an amazing choice of natural wonders and local producers. We're still working on the gin and cheese we bought 3 miles from the site and although the flowers have given up the ghost we're still poring over the photos and planning our next visit. Thanks very much Amanda and Ken.

A haven with the power to recharge your emotional batteries

Amanda, Ken and family share their beautiful environment with a few campers and also have a number of converted buildings/glamping units. We used the sun of a pitch site. We saw the promised buzzards, heard the kites and spent several evenings tracking the resident barn owls. Situation was perfect for exploring the huge range of local countryside and producers. The shop was amazing, Ken's bread is a must and Amanda's flowers, whether picked and dotted around the site or growing in their beautiful glory really add to the sense of well being. Next time we'd be really tempted by one of the buildings, the music room looked just perfect. Thanks very much Amanda and Ken, we're still smiling and going over the photos with a glass of prosecco and the last of the local cheese.

Super holiday in the Glamavan!

We thoroughly enjoyed our week in the Glamavan. It was very clean and comfortable - ideal for a 4 person family. The view from the Glamavan was amazing and the children loved running around in the field, playing football and spending mornings/evenings in the Wendy house. Their shop was great for stocking up on all the food we needed and Amanda/Ken were very welcoming. Their two dogs were also a great treat for my children! The location was perfect for visiting beautiful beaches and we even went dolphin spotting one day which was a real highlight. I would very much recommend this place.

Beautiful and tranquil

What a lovely week (and a perfect antidote to many long months in London) we had camping at Nantgywnfaen Organic farm. The hind site was beautiful and secluded, the farm shop full of lovely things and the watering can showers nice and hot. Our kids loved playing in the Wendy house, toasting marshmallows round the firebowl, throwing balls for the friendly dogs, watching bats and listening to the baby barn owls in the barn. Thanks Amanda and Ken for such a great and well needed holiday!

A beautiful and peaceful farm

The most tranquil campsite we've ever been to! The pitches are well thought out so that you almost feel like you have the place to yourself, and it's so peaceful. And big thumbs up for the attention to eco detail. A really beautiful farm to stay on with lovely owners.

Fabulous!

Just returned from a wonderful camping trip to Nantgwynfaen...and Im planning a return!. Set in a wooded valley, the farm is in the most loveliest of settings. I had a large tree bordered space to pitch my tent .. and all to myself! Amanda and Ken are perfect hosts - the well stocked organic farm shop was an added surprise with its large range of local and ethically sourced produce. Very peaceful, perfect for catching up with reading and the lovely coastline and beaches just a short drive away.

A Welsh gem

We loved our stay in at Nantgwynfaen’s wonderful Glamavan. So cozy and peaceful, with just sheep bleats and the twittering of birds punctuating the silence. Well equipped for cooking, with super comfy beds, shower & even a TV with DVD, the well designed, pretty van was adored by our family of four. The outside space was great, with a tree swing & chickens to entertain the kids, farm tracks to explore & bat watching on the doorstep! The stunning coast and pretty town of Cardigan are close at hand, though the docile dogs Dave & Ben - along with the well stocked farm shop - provided on-farm delight too. We just wish we could have stayed longer. Thank you for being such great hosts, Amanda & Ken.

Amazing peaceful farm setting

A beautiful site, very laid back and relaxing. Simple, but very effective and clean facilities. The hosts were welcoming and great with my children. The Hind Site pitch was enclosed by trees and shrubs, overlooking a meadow and woodland, with fire pit, fruit trees and berry bushes around. Only 20-30 minutes drive to the coast. Would highly recommend this site.

Blissful

This is the best campsite we’ve ever stayed at. Each tent gets its own pitch - ours had a superb view over a valley - the facilities work brilliantly and Ken and Amanda are great hosts. The farm shop is terrific and there’s no need to go anywhere to buy anything. We particularly enjoyed sitting round the campfire in the evening watching the sun set and the incredible stars in the night. There is amazing walking along the Ceredigion coastline plus the cycle route along the seafront at Llanelli is unbeatable. We had a huge and delicious meal at La Calabria which is a couple of miles away. Of course it rained a bit - it’s Wales after all - but it was well worth it. I can’t recommend Nantgwynfaen too highly for a rural retreat.

Beautiful and secluded

This is the place to go to get away and be in nature. Amanda and Kevin have created a little garden of Eden where you can just be in peace. The little shop is well stocked, the pitches are beautifully designed and each one by itself. For those who would go organic!

Lovely relaxing weekend

The first weekend after covid lockdown, this was a great escape into the country. It was surprisingly peaceful, and although we had no luck with the weather it didn't impact how lovely this place was. My partner and I loved the farm shop, the fresh bread was amazing!! Especially when paired with the marmalade bought in the farm shop 👌. We stayed in the Glamavan, and would not only recommend, but will definitely be back. Thanks Amanda and Ken

Wonderful, quiet, private pitches.

We spent a fabulous 10 days pitched on Hindsight - just a small way from the lovely toilet, shower, and washing up facility. Each pitch is very private with plenty of space for the fire, to sit, and to enjoy the scenery. The farm shop is really well stocked with essentials, and a few treats. Amanda and Ken were lovely hosts, who were always ready to help, or to chat. We loved their commitment to being eco, and their enthusiasm and willingness to share their experiences and vision. The games barn was great, but we didn't use it much. We did love the freedom to use the farm to run the dogs. Hard to find faults. The freezer was perhaps a bit small when the site was full.

A wonderful wonderful place

Our family of 5 met with another family and the children quickly formed a tribe and were off. We saw them for food and not much else. It was wonderful. Each pitch is beautifully created, there is more wildlife than I have ever seen in one place - a red kite flew over us throughout the day and bunnies hopped in the fields, bats swept overhead by night. Amanda and Ken are super friendly and held a lovely BBQ on the Saturday evening and invited the football fans to watch the match in their house. I think we need to go back every month...

Beautiful private pitch

Amanda and Ken were both welcoming and helpful, throughout. Although we were only a stones throw away from the farm house the pitch was secluded and private and the closest you could get to wild camping without going wild camping, All the amenities were there if you wanted to take advantage of them with the luxury of a barn converted to a games room, very good, latrene and shower were ingenious. We both loved the fact you could have a proper fire going which we needed on our trip. Would definitely consider returning. A fantastic setup Thank you

Peaceful

Easy to find with a friendly welcome. I needed a few days of countryside peace, and that’s what I got. While it is a working farm, the noise is minimal and the privacy of each plot means the peace remains. The facilities have been designed uniquely and add a quaint, quirky touch that just echoes the friendliness of the family. The farm shop is a lovely addition with organic treats and necessities to buy. You can really see the time and effort that has gone in to make it homely. I’ll be returning in the warmer months when the weather is brighter so I can explore a bit more!

A relaxing break

A warm, friendly welcome from Amanda and Ken. A peaceful setting with wonderful views of the surrounding countryside. We enjoyed the privacy that comes with an individual pitch. Ken has created unique shower and toilet facilities which work really well and were kept very clean. There is a well stocked farm shop. The nearby Daffodil Inn was good for food.
