The campsite – a long established spot that has only recently added this new glamping getup – is naturally very popular with walkers, a lot of them hiking the West Highland Way footpath that runs nearby, while climbers also come for Ben Lomond, the highest mountain in the area.
The site’s second appeal, however, is to boaters and canoeists making the most of its waterside position. Much closer to the water and you’d be swimming. It's also a perfect place to do pretty much nothing at all – beyond sitting back and soaking up the gorgeous views across the Loch.
South of the campsite, in Balloch, you can enjoy a guided hike from the Loch Lomond Shores visitor centre and shops, or enjoy a wide range of cruises, some calling in at the Loch’s many islands. There's also the Sea Life Centre and Balloch Castle and Country Park. Or just hire a kayak, canoe or pedal boat – again from Loch Lomond Shores – and make the most of the Loch that way. Boat launching and storage is available on the site, and canoes, kayaks and windsurfers can be launched free of charge.
