A family-friendly site with secluded, individual pitches hidden among the long grass and campfires permitted

Cross 14 acres of tall, wild, grass meadows and an array of carefully mown circular pitches, with friendly owners who hold a relaxed approach to camping and you’ve got yourself one special place to pitch. Throw in some world class Shakespearean sights, neighbouring medieval castles and countryside vistas that inspired some of the worlds greatest literature, then you’ve stumbled upon Twitey’s Tipis & Camping Meadows; ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ of a campsite.

“Peace and tranquillity is the order of the day,” says the site’s owner Michael Twite, who’s created a truly loveable, family campsite. All who stay here appreciate the lack of overcrowding and the absence of cars in the meadows. The mown pitches come well spaced out and hidden in one of the two wild flower meadows, providing a sense of remoteness and seclusion. Upon arrival, you’ll be presented with a wheelbarrow to help move your kit – especially fun for children who get a ride from mum or dad.

As the name suggests tipis (as well as a yurt and shepherd’s hut) can also be rented. The sites small ‘hamlet’ of abodes (five in total) have been thoughtfully positioned to overlook the meadow, and come furnished with lanterns, kitchen utensils and logs for a sunset campfire.

Perhaps Warwickshire may have been just another pleasant English county were it not for the birth of one rather gifted playwright. William Shakespeare was born, and died in Stratford-upon-Avon (four miles away), and the sights linked to the great man’s life have become a magnet for tourists. To sample some of Warwickshire’s glorious countryside, follow ‘Shakespeare’s Way’ which replicates the 146-mile route the young writer took on his travels to and from London. The scenery is sure to inspire; the earliest section of the walk passes rolling hills, the weaving River Stour and honey-coloured Cotswold cottages.

Pooped parents looking for offsite activities to tire out their energy sapping youngsters have plenty of choice in Warwickshire, not least at Warwick Castle, which runs a prgramme of activities during school holidays. However, back at camp, care-free kids usually wear themselves out finding their own fun, playing hide and seek in the long grass and chasing butterflies; ensuring a sound snooze for the whole family wherever you go. Busy days, peaceful nights. Life’s good at Twitey's...

Discrete grass pitches, 3 Tipis (2 x 6 bed & 1 x 4 bed) 1 Shepherd's hut ( Adults only) and 1 Yurt ( sleeps 4 max) ; all pitches have their own fire pit, and 'tents for hire' also available. Showers, toilet block, washing-up area, small reception and shop, charging facilities, recycling and gas cylinders available.

Fab Family Trip in a Tipi

We recently stayed in Tipi Amitola for 3 nights, 3 adults & 3 kids, and had a great stay. The Tipi was very warm and roomy enough for the 6 of us. We had the added bonus of a well-equipped private outdoor kitchen area and a covered table with bench seats within a roped-off area that made it feel even more secluded. A firepit outside the tipi for toasting marshmallows and watching the stars late at night and a fire bowl/bbq for cooking over along with a camping stove for a quicker brew, made for an easy trip. The showers were hot and kept clean and a freezer to keep ice packs cool. This is a nice site and we will return if we venture this way again.

Super cosy in the Shepherds Hut

Stayed in the Orchard Hut over bank holiday weekend for my partners 30th birthday and what a lovely time we had. The hut was fully equipped with everything we needed, the bed was comfier than a hotel and the whole experience was made better by the lovely staff on hand to help. The personal shower and toilet make the glamming experience that much better. Will definitely be back and would definitely recommend :)

A brief yet relaxing visit!

Just returned from a single nights' camping. Such a tranquil site and nicely set up in the meadows so you get a sense of escape from the city and feel really relaxed in the countryside. The views are fantastic and moreover it is really safe for young children to run around freely in. The facilities are great and the on-site shop sells all essentials including a fantastic coffee! There are also local supermarkets less than 10mins away and likewise some lovely local places to explore from here. Will definitely be booking a visit (for longer) next year!

Pristine campsite with great staff and facilities

This was our first time camping on a site with our friends . It was absolutely superb . Well organised site , very very clean , good shower facilities and toilets . Each pitch was far enough from others to feel private and secluded . I would highly Recommend this site to families it’s a beautiful part of the country and feels remote even though you are only a few miles from Stratford upon Avon . Shops are close by . We found that the Morrison’s in Stratford was better stocked than the closer Sainsbury’s and there is a good coop nearby as well . Highly recommend

Old-fashioned camping at its best

Gorgeous campsite, even when full at the weekend the spacing between pitches meant that we were never overlooked. We had a wonderful time despite pretty bad British weather. Only faults would be, as previously mentioned: a proper toilet block in lower field would be good; showers kept dropping their pressure and going cold on a busy Saturday morning; and the water tasted ODD. Really odd. Despite using different taps. We even found that it curdled the milk (both dairy and soya, both of which were definitely kept cold and definitely in date) in our tea. I kept expecting to get a dodgy tummy but we were all ok. Perhaps just one of those things, but I think they sell giant bottles of mineral water in the shop for this very reason. Buy one!!

Response from Twitey's Tipis and Camping Meadows

Hello and very many thanks for your review.
We do find that our camper's love the open space between pitches which also allows for open fires to work safely.
And thanks for positively letting us know about certain areas where we need to improve.
We have this year connected to the mains water supply and expect to improve water-pressure and water taste ready for the new season next year.
Sorry you had a few issues but still hope you will visit us again.
Very best wishes,
Michael, Kay and the team.

A lovely back to nature site with good facilities

It was wonderful to hear all the life in the long grass and watch the swallows. The long grass gave each pitch a nice sense of privacy and the open grass area was good for ball games. The open fire pits were great to use. The car park wasn't far from the pitches and it wasn't a chore using the wheelbarrows to move things when arriving and leaving. In fact, it was a good game for our 4 year old. The showers were good, one being large enough to be a family room, and having a timetable for them worked well; it avoided any queues. Facilities were clean. Staff were friendly and helpful.

The birds the birds!

This is such a lovely campsite. Facilities fab - loos clean and functional, lots of hot showers with a system for ensuring covid cleanliness. I love the long grass between the pitches, effecting a kind of privacy and also the birds love it! The owner is friendly and just the right level of chatty. He keeps a long list of birds seen at the site, from swallows to starlings, blue tits and kites! We even saw a deer! It’s such a lovely spot and they’ve done a fab job of keeping its wild simplicity but with just right facilities and a basic shop with honesty system. We visited Warwick Castle whilst there on our 2 days but it is also close to Stratford and loads to do round there. Only downside is there is little shade at present but they are correcting that by growing trees across the site.

Amazing weekend

Great weekend great site nice and private pitches wonderful staff and lovley little shop with all supplies you need toilets and showers lovley and clean. So much to do in the area nice walks the market the air field breakfast van that comes and a gorgeous pizza van. Will be returning again.

This is a great campsite. Staff are really friendly and helpful but not imposing, facilities are clean, showers HOT and the shop has all the essentials you need. It has a real back to nature feel about it which we loved and the pitches are laid out in a way that keeps you in your own group which just adds that extra bit of privacy. Really loved it and will be back again

Lovely site

We have stayed at this site several times and always have an enjoyable time. The facilities are kept clean, there is a lovely little honesty shop and the staff are friendly. The way the pitches are seperated gives you your own space but still keeps the feeling of being in the country. Plenty of cycles, walks and things to see locally.

Awesome campsite

Fantastic site, loved the way the pitches are hidden in the long grass, each with it’s own fire pit. The scenery is stunning and the site is peaceful. Great facilities, very clean and the COVID measures in place were spot on. We felt safe and still able to totally relax. The owners were really friendly and welcoming. We will definitely return!!

Absolutely beautiful site! Sunsets, wild fields, free roaming children

This is a glorious site, long grass wild flower meadow with generous pitches mowed in. Large mown area in the center for children to play, in the lower meadow the play area was visible from from all the pitches which is great if you have smaller children. Great little shop on site, you can even rent camping stoves! Staff are super friendly and couldn't have done more. Only slight downside is that the lower field only has portaloos which makes it feel a little less special than the upper field. Of course you can use any but the upper loos are a bit of a walk with small children if you are in the lower field.

Fantastic magical place

Just back from 3 nights camping at the site, it was our second time staying there and again it was brilliant. Such a beautiful site and nicely set up so you feel really in the countryside surrounded by meadows and wildflowers, and really safe for young children to run around freely in. The facilities are great and safely set up with covid. Shop in site which sells essentials is an added bonus. Some lovely local places to explore from here. Will definitely be returning.

Friendly and good facilities

Really impressed with Twitey's, everything is set up very well. I liked the idea of having the cars parked separately the campsite, it works well. Nice friendly staff, sensible covid measures, plenty of logs in the shop to fuel your campfire :)

Wildflowers and sunsets!

A beautiful campsite, where the grass grows high with wildflowers. The mowed pitches are a great idea so you have your own private patch. Sunset views in the top meadow were spectacular. This site is understandably popular with families with young children.

Lovely place, lovely hosts

Twitey’s was brilliant - great value, lovely site, very well equipped with everything we needed including a little shop! Hugely accommodating with covid and very welcoming

Rural yet well equipped

We pitched up in the Orchard which was quite secluded and having our own firepit was great - well worth getting the fire starter kit! The hot water wasn't working in the barn for washing up, but boiling the kettle provided was fine (this was getting fixed). COVID also meant that we had to wait our turn for the sink, so had to time our washing up well! John was really informative and helpful and usually about if we needed him. We'd like to come back in the summer when the weather is a bit less chilly.

Friendly, Covid-safe camp site

Good location, only a short drive from Stratford, but nice and peaceful. Owner and manager both very welcoming. The (proper) toilets were clean and we never had to queue, but we didn't use the showers so can't comment on them. The on-site shop was handy (but bring cash), and the Saturday night pizza van was a nice touch. Pitches are well spaced, and it was lovely sitting around our fire pit. Personally I think it's nicer not being able to park cars by the pitches, but be warned there's a little slope from the car park to one of the fields, and steps back down because of the Covid one-way system.

Orchard retreat

Great location to visit the beautiful Stratford upon Avon. Huge campsite but due to the plot locations within the mowed meadow, it means privacy for each plot. Fire is a great solution to those concerned about doing it safely as its dug deep into the ground. Great facilities. Kind welcome by the onsite staff member Perfect getaway.

Great camp site

The two of us have just got back from a night camping at Twiteys and we had a great time. The pitches are a good size and well spaced out; it’s a great idea having each pitch as it’s own mowed area surrounded by long grass. Adds privacy and a sense of solitude! The fire pit was a nice touch. The guy at reception (I think it’s Chris?) was great, helpful and friendly. The toilets are very clean and more than usable. The on-site shop is well stocked and a good idea. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Lovely meadow camping

We just got back from a weekend camping at Twitey's, and we had a great time. All the pitches are nicely spaced out from each other so you don't feel crowded in by other campers. Having a firepit is a major plus too, it's not camping without a fire! Rarely had to queue for the loo, handy shop on site, and Saturday night pizza van! Shower temps a bit temperamental but other than that, would highly recommend this site! We will defs be visiting again.

Lovely site just be aware limited hot water

Lovely site in meadows. We had an orchard pitch which was great, really sheltered. All the pitches had fire pits. There were plenty of toilets and showers, all clean with plenty sanitizer. Showers had good hot water and no time limits, and were quite spacious. The shop was good, had essentials, bbq hire, wood for sale etc, and on arrival the lady at reception was friendly, helpful and gave clear instructions on the one one way system in place for covid protection. The barn by the shop had fridges, freezer, and phone charging. The barrows to transport stuff to cars were sturdy. Although it’s a pain to have to take your stuff to your pitch,it’s worth it as kids can run around in complete safety, and l did see a few being transported in the barrows which looked like fun. The site was handy for Warwick and Stratford, and there was plenty to do within a short distance. Also a Sainsbury’s a few minutes drive away was very handy! The stars at night were amazing and the site was generally quiet. A companion complained that some people were a bit loud late into the night, but this only happened one night. There is also a kennels nearby so we did hear dog barking, but only occasionally. My only slight negatives were that there was no hot water for washing up ( there was an urn but l think maybe it wasn’t working). There was also no hot water in the toilets but there was cold, and hand sanitizer and tissues for drying hands. The other negative was that we had to wash up in the dark, there was a light in the barn but it only stayed on for a few seconds before turning off automatically. Overall l really liked the site and l could see the owners have worked hard on helping campers feel covid secure. I would definitely go again .

Fab stay in all sorts of weather

Lovely campsite! Felt safe in Covid times, with one-way system, lots of hand sanitzer in the right places and plenty of cleaning. We *just* managed to get the tent up in time before the heavens opened and had patchy rain across our two nights but it didn't stop us cycling to Stratford-Upon-Avon or going for a swim in the River Avon. Thanks to both Michael and John who were friendly and helpful on the site and both clearly very knowledgeable (both able to suggest good swimming spots). We were in the top meadow, which was nice and flat and had a good open area in the middle where kids could run around and play games. The kids clearly love this place! Highly recommend.

Tranquil, Well organised and well cared for site

We really enjoyed the seclusion of having our own pitch and also appreciated the security that we had a place to pitch and didn't have to arrive early to ensure you got enough space for groups of tents. Plenty of space and the meadowy areas of long grass were attractive. Great not having to look at cars since they are banned from the actual camping field (though car park nearby and sturdy wheelbarrows to transport stuff). Loos were clean and all worked. Showers clean, spacious and hot. The only suggestion for improvement would be to have hot water for the washing up and maybe another sink - though understand the restrictions due to covid. Really impressed by the measures put in place to make sure we were as protected as much as possible from potential covid spread. Thank you all so much for creating such a lovely environment to camp in - we will definitely come back and recommend

Large site with discrete options...

Large site with discrete options (Orchard Pitch for tents, tips, yurt & shepherd’s hut) & a welcoming staff who make an effort when you ask for help/info. Easy parking, clean site, clean loos; showers had long queues when camp filled up at weekend & due to COVID restrictions the queuing for cleaning dishes etc was frustrating. Great location for local walks (not so much hiking), cycling & historical attractions. Nearby NT at Charlecote. Well stocked shop with supplies to easily build fire in fire pit. Good place for a variety of visitors. If you’re after peace & quiet this large site may not be ideal: two nights of shouting from younger children past 10pm went without any noticeable staff intervention on our stay which was out of kilter with the rest of our experience. Sat evening saw PIZZA cooked fresh in the pizza ovens by a charismatic Neapolitan- well priced & delicious ... not to mention a welcome distraction form cooking! Enjoy!

Response from Twitey's Tipis and Camping Meadows

Sorry about the queues and , we are encouraging guests to wash up at their pitches (old style camping). We would encourage any guests experiencing problems with noise to let us know and we will deal with it, We're informing everyone that arrives about quiet time after 9pm. Overall though, from your great review we hope you enjoyed your stay.

A cracking location & superb staff with a Sat eve pizza van!!

We appreciated the friendly manner of Richard (owner) on arrival and that the staff ensured we had a chance to charge our hybrid vehicle ... a little bit of creative thinking in action. The excellent wheelbarrows allowed easy access to our sheltered and semi-private Orchard Pitch. The toilets were very clean & rarely saw queuing; only some showers were working & thus saw a decent queue on Sunday morning. Washing area was COVID sympathetic which led to necessary but frustrating queues (worth the safety though). Parking was not a problem with a few options on site to choose from. The fire pit on our pitch was handy and well catered for in terms of an ashes bucket, shovel, water bucket for dousing and wood/lighters in the well-stocked store. The site seems good for a range of visitors; our only gripe is that boisterous youngsters playing at 10.30pm we’re unmissable two nights running: if you are looking for a peaceful break it is worth considering that this is a large site and, in our experience, noisiness might go unchallenged by staff after the camp watershed. The positives are plenty though and the location is ideal for nearby history and the excellent Greenway for walking into Stratford Upon Avon with a mid-route cafe inside an old train carriage. Hatton Locks too are a pleasant feature for walkers heading into Warwick via the Grand Union Canal pathway. A real treat was the Saturday evening pizza van hosting the likeable Neapolitan pizza guy and his delicious pizzas! Great way to unwind at the end of a busy day.

Amazing camping experience

Twitey's Camping Meadows was beautiful and tranquil. The staff were extremely welcoming and the facilities were all well looked after and clean. They have washing up facilities, fridges if you need to store any fresh food and a small shop with an honesty box if you need something after hours. It's close to lots of picturesque cycle routes and not too far a drive from the centre Stretford or Warwick. We'll definitely stay again!

Spacious camping with a fire pit on each plot

We had a lovely time for our 5-night stay. The site was very spacious, with individual circular plots surrounded by tall grass and wild flower meadows. Each plot has a fire pit and wood can be purchased from the camp shop, the campsite has a lovely ambience as evening sets in, with fires going across the site. Toilets were clean and showers were nice and hot. Only downsides were that the drinking water tasted strange, and there was no hot water for washing dishes, but these things wouldn't stop us coming again.

Camping at it's best

This site was quite a find. It strikes the balance perfectly of feeling well-organised yet has a nice relaxed atmosphere. We loved being able to let the kids run off through the meadow paths, meeting new friends and finding Trevor the campsite cockerel! Very good facilities, pitches well-spread out, thoughtfully stocked shop. We especially liked having a fire pit! Will definitely come for a return visit.

Friendly spacious site

A beautiful site with grassed areas between pitches giving it a relaxed spacious feel. Lovely views round the site, particularly the sunsets from the top field. The facilities are well organised and clean and the staff are friendly and accommodating. There is a well stocked shop on site. The surrounding area has lots to offer within walking distance and a short drive. One weekend wasn't long enough and we'll definitely be coming back.

Thanks for lovely review, we are glad you had a great time at Twitey's and hope to see you back soon.

Fantastic break on a beautiful site

We had a brilliant time visiting this weekend. We were a group of 12 with a mix of tipi and pitch bookings and we were all placed together which was fab. Our stay was in Tipi Takoda and I cannot recommend enough. The Tipis are fully equipped with everything you need including beds, utensils, pans, and outdoor kitchen area. The staff are also lovely and extremely attentive. The shop is well stocked and the toilets and shower area extremely clean and tidy. A one-way system has been adopted throughout the site due to COVID guidelines and there is a lot of signage around to remind you of the government guidance. A great stay and we will be returning again.

Response from Twitey's Tipis and Camping Meadows

Thanks for a great review, we are delighted you enjoyed your time here. It is really pleasing to hear compliments regarding the operation of the site in relation to COVID, thanks again.

Great group stay

We had a few separate bookings including a tipi and the site could not have been more accommodating in ensuring we were all together. The pitches are flat and feel very separate because of the meadow grass that separates them. There are great fire pits on each pitch and the facilities are clean, well tended and very well constructed in a sympathetic way with the beautiful site. We will certainly be coming back!

Fantastic experience

We stayed this past weekend in Tipi Takoda. We had an amazing stay, all of the amenities included were fab and the staff were great. The site has all of the necessary COVID-19 procedures in place with a one way system around the site and signage everywhere. The shop is well-stocked and there is ample space around for children to explore and play. We had friends with us that pitched their own tents and the staff were extremely accommodating with making sure we were pitched together. Can not recommend the site enough, we will definitely be back in the future.

Response from Twitey's Tipis and Camping Meadows

Thanks for a great complimentary review, we hope to see you again.

Beautiful site with magical starry nights.

The pitches are a great size and have ample space between each one, ensuring it never felt overcrowded. The long grass gives a meadow like feel and provided a bit of privacy for the pitches and fun for the kids. The no cars by the pitches rule was lovely. It meant you could let the kids run free without concern and also felt much more connected to nature. The wheelbarrows made transporting gear easy and fun. The pizza van was a great touch and they were really tasty. The ice cold water available in the site shop was amazing, especially considering the baking temperature on one of the days of our visit. Social distancing is being practised well and cleanliness kept well on top of with hand sanitising points in place. The clear starry night sky’s were magical and so peaceful. Would 100% recommend a visit and we most certainly will be back ourselves. Thank you Twitey’s.

Thank you for a  fabulous review, we love it when guests have a great time. Hope to see you again, cheers.

Peaceful, well located site with good, clean facilities

We spent 3 nights at Twitey’s and had a great time. The site is well located for exploring the towns of Warwick and Stratford-upon-Avon but is far enough away from the towns and main roads to feel you’re away from it all. The site is clean and has great facilities and they have handled the CV19 restrictions well (one way systems, hand sanitizers, distancing etc). The pizza van on Friday and Saturday was a welcome sight. The mowed circular pitches were of ample size for a family tent and the surrounding long grass maintained a level of privacy and meant it never felt overly crowded. All in all; a great site that is happily recommend and visit again.

Lovely field. Great evening light

Just back from a couple of days camping at Twitey’s. We had a lovely my time. The field with tall grass is singing with crickets, birds and butterflies. The evening light is gorgeous. It felt like there had been careful thought to minimise COVID risk and we felt safe. It was so hot I’m glad the on site shop had ice creams and cold water for sale!

Great site

Really enjoyed camping at this site. It was a pretty busy weekend but the site doesn't feel particularly busy as the pitches are nicely spaced. Fire pits were good too and wood reasonably priced. There were plenty of wheelbarrows available to move your stuff around. Car park got pretty full with some creative parking but was never a problem. Fridge/freezers didn't have much/any space left in them at the start of the weekend either. Shop (cash only) was well stocked and staff friendly. There was a pizza trailer on the Saturday night and half the site seemed to be getting pizzas as soon as it opened at 5 (most people had kids) - I'll be taking a chair and a beer for the pizza queue next time! Pizzas were good though and good value too (£6 for 10" margarita, £7 with toppings).

What a fabulous place

We had a brilliant weekend here. Loved every minute of it. Will definitely be back!

Beautiful site in lovely location - facilities excellent

We stayed one night and we loved it, despite de weather we had a great time. John and staff were amazing, great hospitality and available for whatever we needed. They brought a windscreen to our pitch without asking for it, they were very nice to us. Definitely staying there again. Thank you!!

Response from Twitey's Tipis and Camping Meadows

Hi Marta, thanks for your kind review, we are glad you had a good time at Twitey's and look forward to seeing you all again.

Gorgeous campsite

As a seasoned camper I can honestly say I had one of my best camping trips at this lovely site set deep In the Warwickshire countryside. Arrived via a long drive to a central carpark where the helpful team oriented us and provided a map of the site. Used wheelbarrows to move our kit to the pitch which, despite having a heavy tent, was surprisingly easy and definitely worthwhile as having car free camping contributed to the lovely tranquil atmosphere at Twitey’s. The generously sized pitches were well spaced apart in the wildflower meadows which meant we felt relaxed and undisturbed without feeling isolated. The fire pits were great, with wood readily available at the shop. Sunsets, fairy lights and the shepherd’s hut in the distance contributed to a gentle atmosphere. All the benefits of a wild camping site with the added advantage of clean flushing toilets and good showers. With a well stocked shop, and honesty box (Incase you need something out of hours) we will definitely be returning for another visit to Twitey’s Tipis!

Great Experience All Round

I found the site on the Cool Camping website and it immediately appealed to me. Having not camped for a few years I was keen for a site that wasn’t too hectic and took us back to basics and Twitey’s did just that and it did it in style. From start to finish it was a wonderful experience. The mown areas meant we had our own space but didn’t feel isolated, from others dotted around, the fire pits were great and the shop had all we needed. Even a hot water urn so I could have a cuppa when necessary. Cars being parked away from the camping field meant the children could run free and be safe, which was excellent. The wheelbarrows to transport our kit (and the kids) were a wonderful idea that the children adored and the facilities from the loos, to the showers, and the lending library were excellent. It was a hot Sunday/Monday when we were there and the freezers were quite full but we managed to squeeze our stuff in and keep it cool as it certainly wasn’t cool in our tent, but in the evening with the beautiful breeze and the wonderful sunsets it felt like we were very lucky to be there. We had some rain on the second night but it was needed and listening to the rain on the tent whilst we lay inside took me back to my camping holidays as a child and was so relaxing. It really was a great break. Communication with the site before arriving and then when we were there was excellent and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful, informative and kind. We had a wonderful stay and I would recommend Twitey’s highly. The location was perfect for us and the area was really great with lots to do. We very much hope to return in the future. Thank you for having us. A perfect return to camping.

Hello Emily and party,
Thank you very, very much for your lovely review
We are all so glad you had a good experience and enjoyed your stay.
It really makes us feel good to receive such positive feedback -we now have a new fridge/freezer.
Other tweeks are in the pipeline too!
Hope to see you all again.
With very best wishes,
Michael, John, Gayle and Harriet.

A campsite that has thought of everything

I wish all campsites were like this. Individual mown circles in a meadow of long grass give a sense of privacy, each with its own fireplace and plenty of room for a couple of tents. Spotless portaloos and a water tap complete with buckets provided, plus further facilities up at the reception. We particularly loved having wheelbarrows provided to transport kit from the car park to our designated circle. Shame they couldn't also lay on some sunshine!

Fantastic campsite. Stayed for 2 nights in July. Pitches are very well kept and you really feel secluded with the wild flowers/grass around you. Clean facilities and staff are very friendly. We will be definitely coming back to this place!

Great Campsite

I've never had a bad campsite whilst using the cool camping website and Twitey's is a good example why. Great campsite with good facilities (clean and pleasant showers and toilets), great camping fields amongst the meadow grass and friendly staff - John who met us on arrival. Kids loved it - lots of spaces for them. Campfires in the fire pits for each pitch, shop on site for essentials. Handy for Stratford etc. Would recommend.

Thank you very, very much for your lovely review which is much appreciated.

Peaceful and lovely

Found this site and was amazed that they still had availability. Helped by fabulous weather, we had a fantastic stay at this site which was very quiet over Easter weekend. The kids really enjoyed being able to roam free and make friends with Trevor the cockerel. Clean toilets and showers, little shop for emergencies. Lovely helpful staff if needed. No cars on site - wheelbarrows to your site. The most amazing sunsets next to a campfire. Peaceful. We will definitely be back.

Response from Twitey's Tipis and Camping Meadows

Thank you.

Little gem

This is a lovely find for those who want to escape electric hook up hell. Cars are parked away from the pitches making it safer for kids to wander around. Long grass helps you feel like you have natural privacy. It's easy to find and close enough to the cotswolds for little day trips. It's also a perfect stop off if you're doing a longer journey or just for a quick weekend away. We only stayed for two nights mid week and it was just before it got busy for the weekend, so not sure what it will be like when pitches are full, toilets are all being used, everyone staying up late socialising etc.

Natural campsite & warm welcome

We stayed for 4 nights at this great campsite. This is a wonderfull natural place to put up your tent. Michael the owner led some of his own garden furniture for us to use during our stay. Special mention for lovely Trevor, the lonely the rooster, who kept use company during our stay. Love to come back!

Thank you to the 'Duchies' and we would love to have you back.

Excellent site

We stayed in the Yurt and were provided with everything we could have expected and more, including mini hamper and fire wood/kindling, cool box with breakfast; our own kitchen area and very good general facilities and location, very enjoyable despite some traditional Bank Holiday downpour; we would happily visit again. Shepherd's Hut - restful luxury in a beautiful meadow

We had 5 nights in the Shepherd's Hut in August...Michael was a really welcoming host and you feel well looked after; the welcome basket is very generous and the facilities in the Hut are marvellous - you could literally turn up with a few clothes and nothing else and be fine. The bed is VERY comfy and the hut was lovely to retire into at night - on rainy days you can sit on the "porch" and watch the birds. We had mainly fine weather and used the firepit to the max - the grill on it means you can cook pretty much all your meals on it. Clean and plentiful toilets and showers (with hot water) plus a great communal area meant you would have an easy camp should you opt for a tent (and the pitches are ACE!). Lots to do nearby and not far from main roads. This really is a Go To campsite. Highly recommended.

Lovely campsite, family friendly, great for walks

We stayed (2 families) for 4 nights, at the end of the really hot weather - so the meadows were quite dry, brown and crispy, which did make it feel a little barren - it also meant that we weren't aloud to have campfires for the first night. After this, all settled down, and we had 3 lovely days of rain! There are a couple of portaloos in the lower field (nothing fancy!), and more formal bathrooms at the main area in the middle. Fresh blackberries around the site very tasty. The kids loved running around the paths with wheelbarrows, but the open space for games is limited (the frisbee got lost in the grass quite a few times!). On the whole would recommend, and location for Warwick Castle and S-u-A is good. Lovely walk to the Fox at Loxley through the fields. Just for way of advice - the red walking route takes you around some fields, where the farmer has put an electric fence so close to the edge, you are forced to walk in the overgrown areas next to the field (including stinging nettles) - with young children this was not an enjoyable experience.

Friendly, clean, safe and homely site

Nice concept of mown plots in the meadows which meant you have a sense of space around you. Well organised facility, like the wheelbarrows supplied for carting your stuff from the car park. Useful little shop with hot drinks and emergency supplies - appreciated the little touches like being able to borrow a frying pan and an airbed pump which we had forgotten! Friendly owner/staff. Toilets were nicely done and clean. Showers looked clean too tho I can’t vouch for the temperature since I didn’t partake since we only stayed 1 night! Thanks for a great first camping experience for our little family.

Welcoming Family Site

Upon arrival we received a warm welcome and introduction to the site. There are designated pitches but these are far enough apart to allow plenty of privacy, if required. It was quite pleasant not having the car next to the tent and transporting kit by wheelbarrow kept the children entertained. This is the first site I've stayed at where the (honesty) shop is not profiteering from campers - all items were very reasonably priced. The toilets and showers were always clean with plenty of toilet roll, soap and paper towels. Although we didn't need to use them, the (free to use) fridges and freezers were clearly useful for many. The overall atmosphere was friendly, which meant we all (two adults, two children) really enjoyed our three night stay.

Great family campsite

Just back from a 2-night stay with nothing but good things to say about Twitey's Tipis. Excellent and large pitches (we booked an over-size pitch which comfortably fit three large tents accommodating six adults and six 0-4 year olds... and a gazebo!), a very welcoming atmosphere, excellent toilet / shower facilities and superb site shop offering all the essentials via an honesty box system. Kids loved playing around the site (and riding in wheelbarrows), allowing the adults the rare opportunity to sit down and relax! Would highly recommend.

Camping as it should be

What a find! We had a wonderful weekend here as a family and wished it could be longer. We had a warm welcome after a pretty horrible journey and instantly felt relaxed. We had a great pitch near the children's play area where the kids made lots of friends straightaway. It was lovely to be able to let them have the freedom to roam without worrying about cars (or dogs!) on the camping field. Other campers all seemed considerate and there was no problem with noise at night. Facilities are basic but clean and everything works. We visited Warwick Castle for the day on the Saturday which was only a 15 min drive away and a great (though expensive) family day out. I can't honestly think of anything negative to say about Twitey's. I wish there were more campsites like this (and that they were nearer to where we live), but as we commented to each other on the way home, it's just good to know that places like this exist!

EXACTLY what I needed, and probably what you need too!

Michael, Alicia and team made me feel very welcome from the start. I was shown the site and as I was the only one there, they encouraged me to pick the spot I liked the most. I had originally booked to stay in the orchard but after seeing the views from further down the meadow I decided to go for one of those. The sunsets truly are majestic. Bird song will be the soundtrack to your stay, along with the occasional gentle buzz of a small plane or helicopter from the nearby airfield. Lots of wildlife, including a tribe of cats, pheasants, jays and the star of the show, Trevor. Trevor the chicken is a real gent and will make you feel almost as welcome as the hosts! He followed me around pretty much wherever I went and it helped me miss my greyhound Moe a bit less. The location is pretty much perfect. Far enough away from houses and structures to get the full benefit of nature’s innate tranquility, but close enough to a sainsburys (15 minutes cycle) to ensure that if you’ve forgotten anything important you won’t need to go without. The honesty shop was a very helpful and heart-warming addition to the campsite. It has most camping essentials, a good selection of food and a plentiful supply of logs and firestarting kits. Having a fire pit to myself (one per pitch) was a delight. I found out that because the pits are sunken into the ground, it’s best to sit around the fire at chair height as you get the full benefit of the rising warmth. The cafe at the airfield is definitely worth a visit. I had a large breakfast there and whatever they did to the toast (or eggy bread? I’m not sure) made it dangerously addictive. Clearly a biker haunt so lots of nice bikes and the odd classical car to drool over. Whether I return solo or with a group of friends, you can be certain that I’ll be visiting again. See you next time!

Friendly hosts in a lovely campsite

We had a terrific time - Michael and team were very friendly and the campsite's facilities were excellent and well maintained. We really appreciated the honesty shop and that the pitches were spread out well. Enjoyed a fry-up breakfast at the nearby airfield cafe, but mostly just enjoyed the nice sunsets and hanging around the campsite.

Perfect campsite!

Wonderful stay! Really great to travel to from London on Friday night- very easy to find and traffic good. Friendly welcoming arrival-fridges and freezers for ice packs, honesty shop where you can buy milk, bread, marshmallows etc- so useful for short stays. Such a luxury to have such clean facilities-flushing toilets, cleaned very regularly, enough showers, great area to wash up in and relax in. We borrowed bats, balls and frisbees and from book library. Sainsburys very close and had good days out at nearby national trust site and recommend trip to Tudor Museum in Stratford which kids enjoyed. The barn was great as it was baking hot when leaving so kids played in there in shade and it would work well sheltering from rain too. A perfect weekend to enjoy some family time. We would love to return again! Thank you :)

A charming meadow, and brilliant holiday😃

We all feel so relaxed, and happy after our weekend here. The site design is brilliant, you can tell the owner is also a landscape architect. The car park is hidden, and man-made light is minimised at night. And i reckon any campsite that involves wheelbarrows is bound to be brilliant.

The children loved it! Or son spent hours charging round the mown paths and pitches with the other children from the site. They all played so nicely, and it felt good and safe to give them that bit of freedom.

Thanks so much for our serendipitous last minute discovery. Lovely, just lovely 😃

Beautiful site, apart from the wasps!

Some friends and I stayed here for two nights mid-August, with our children (aged between 10 months - 6 years).  The site is really beautiful and we loved the circular mown pitches with fire pits.  There is lots of space between pitches - it was full on the second night but in some of my photos it looks like we are the only ones there!  The owners were welcoming and helpful and the facilities were clean and pleasant to use.  The little shop stocks essentials including marshmallows, and there are sofas and tables in the spacious wash up area.  Taking our stuff up to the pitch in wheelbarrows was hard work, but worth it for the car-free meadow, completely safe for the kids, and no engines or slamming doors to disturb the peaceful atmosphere.

The children absolutely loved roaming the field with all the new friends they made, exploring through the long grass, meeting the chickens and ducks, and toasting marshmallows on our campfire.  The site was very quiet from 10pm and we enjoyed peaceful evenings and nights.  During the day we visited the airfield just down the road - walkable even by toddlers - where you can get a good cooked breakfast/lunch and a hot drink.  There are loads of attractions nearby if you were staying for longer.

It would have been an absolutely perfect experience, if it hadn't been for the wasps.  There must have been nests close by as we were constantly being pestered by them - it wasn't just the odd one or two, they were there as soon as we started pitching, even with no food out.  This really put a downer on our stay, as we all felt on edge and it was almost impossible to prepare or eat food.  A real shame, obviously not the fault of the site owners and everything else was amazing.  I've had to put 4* because of that, but if there were no wasps it would have been 5*.

I'd love to come back, just not in August!

Camping as it should be

As we were leaving, my son asked if we could go again next year but for more days... Cooking on an open fire, toasted marshmallows, running through the long grass, following chickens, bike riding on the nearby Stratford Greenway, falconry at Warwick Castle, walking by the river Avon - need I say more?  The facilities were good - clean toilets and showers. The site feels like a real labour of love for the owners; they have thought through lots of little details - long grass around each pitch, well-stocked basket in the tipi - including loss of firewood and everything needed to cook, solar candles to light the way at night, shop stock with marshmallows, firewood and fresh farm eggs....  A special thanks also for posting back my son's soft toy - see you next year!

Lovely campsite

We stayed here for 9 days with our family. We loved the relaxed atmosphere. The meadows are great (as are the campfire pits). The campsite has brandnew toilets, a small shop and a large space with showers , washing facilities, room to play, chairs, and refrigarators. Stratford upon Avon is nearby, with of cause a lot of Shakespeare but also boat rowing and a lovely butterfly farm.

Thank you so much

We visited with our young family as a trial run (not far from home), just before Aug Bank holiday.  We loved it!  Stuart is fantastic, he does so much to keep things running smoothly, looking good and most of all was so welcoming, hospitable and helpful, he really went out of his way to make sure we were all sorted and settled in. The site is so well maintained and I love the long grass around the pitches.  All of the amenities were kept clean and tidy and there was everything you need readily available.  It was our first trip with our six-month old and although we'd prefer to go further from home we will definitely go back as it was fab and the view from the top field was beautiful.  Thank you and very special thanks to Stuart - you really made the trip for us x

Me and the 5 others girls who stayed for 2 nights all thought it was perfect for a weekend get away, log fire and camping games!! It was truly fantastic!! We would love to go back, and also to see Stuart because he is so enthusiastic and helpful!! Every camp site needs a Stuart!! :) thank you very much!! See you again soon

Great tipi's

Stayed here for 3 nights in a tipi.  It was our first time in a tipi and kids thought it was great.  They are very well equipped & comfortable, although we had 4 of us in 4 person tipi- if we went again I would book a 6 person for more space.  The solar fairy lights inside were a nice touch.

The site itself is lovely, very peaceful & the long grass is a great idea. The pitches are all really well spread out providing a good sense of privacy, but with communal areas for kids to play.  Stuart, who showed us around on arrival was very helpful, and whilst the facilities are basic they have thought of everything and lots of little extra touches, such as an electric kettle in the barn with tea & coffee, fresh eggs for sale & disposable bbq's. The portaloo showers & toilets were kept very clean & tidy and were never busy- there is no lighting in the barn though, and even with torches my children found it a bit scary cleaning their teeth in the dark, so just had to remember to do that before it got too late!

The fire pits were great & plenty of wood and kindling supplied with the tipi, more than enough to keep us going!

The site is well located for Stratford & warwick, also kenilworth castle which is well worth a visit.  We would definitely go back, either in a tipi or our own tent.

Lovely Campsite

This was a one night stop on the way north to the Peaks and we couldn't have asked for better. Great pitches mown into a beautiful wild flower meadow; the poshest compost toilets I have ever experienced and nothing was too much trouble for Stuart who was always available to help. The weather wasn't great but the facilities in the barn - hot showers, tea making facilities, comfy chairs and somewhere to dry your things as well as a wealth of local info - made it not a problem. We will definitely come back again, for longer next time! Thank you for accommodating our last minute booking as we are sure you are always busy! Debbie & Rod Shore

We enjoyed a lovely weekend in the long grass of the Meadow.  The site is well laid out and the facilities are excellent and spotless (don’t be put off by portaloos and showers).  Special thanks to Stuart who was very welcoming and helpful.  We will definitely be returning.

Such a great weekend break at Twitey's Tipis.

We took the oversized pitch on the top field and were able to pitch a big 6 berth family tent with lounge area and our mountain two berth tent. There was ample space for 4 seats outside in the pitch and also rug to sit on.

The top field is great for families as their is a large mowed circular area in the middle of the field where kids can play (rounders, football etc), whilst still in view of the pitches.

Showeres, sinks, toilets - basic. But this is fine with us. Nice touches like a communal kettle, sofa, fridge and freezer, ice packs in the main unit.

No cars on the fields ... big bonus with kids. We were more than comfortable for our kids to play freely.

Stewart, your on-site
concierge, is a great chap, always ready and happy to help or assist whenever needed. Martin too was also very approachable and friendly.

As suggested by Stewart, the airfield cafe was a great experience. We went on Sunday morning and it was filled with bikers, locals, non locals and pilots. What a great atmosphere. Great pictures and plane models in the cafe and large viewing area outside with table and seating to watch planes and helicopters landing and taking off while eating your grub. The kids loved it.

We will be returning with no hesitation.

Fantastic, well maintained and tranquil campsite

On arrival we were greeted by Stuart and shown around the campsite, facilities and a variety of pitches to choose from.

Each one of the pitches were spacious and offered privacy from other campers, with fantastic views of the countryside.

The facilities provided were exactly what we needed for a long weekend stay (shared fridge, freezer, hot showers, plenty of information and guides on the local area) all of which were clean, tidy and well maintained including the washing up area, toilets, shower block.

Fire pit provided and kindle and log wood was available on site, of very good quality and not at too much cost.

The staff and management were extremely friendly and polite, nothing was too much trouble and a pleasure to talk to (not like some of the
staff we have experienced at other camping venues).

The car parking is secure, only being a short distance away from the pitches and it was nice to have no cars in view when pitched up.

We have only been camping for around a year but would definitely recommend and return to Twitey's Tipis.

Could not fault it!!

We have just returned from a thoroughly enjoyable weekend at Twiteys Tipis and campsite.  We camped in our tent at the back of the field with lovely views out over the surrounding countryside.  The pitches were spread out so that you had plenty of privacy and the beauty of this place is that it isn't over crowded in the slightest.  Pitches and paths are mowed and the surrounding grass left to grow.  We had a fire pit on our pitch as do all pitches and wood is sold at a reasonable price on site.

Don't be put off by the porta loos and showers.  Stewart keeps them immaculately clean and the water is hot!  It's a basic site but that's the beauty of it!  The barn area is being renovated currently to include sinks and running hot water.  There is a washing up area too!  There is a fridge freezer for use by campers which was brilliant for popping your milk an the odd beer in, and of course the option to refreeze your freezer blocks.  There was even a kettle so that you could make a brew in the morning if required!

We received the friendliest welcome we've ever experienced from a campsite and we were given a full tour of all the amenities and pitches and then Stewart left us to choose which pitch we wanted.

I can not praise Stewart enough he really made us feel welcome and the owner was very friendly also.

The addition of the sale of free range eggs on site from the local farm was welcomed by us too!!

There were lots of things to do in the local area too, with a nearby airfield and national trust property on the doorstep and it is so close to Stratford and Warwick you could never run out of things to do.

We will definitely return to Twiteys soon we loved it SO much!
