Glampers, campers, campervans, groups – yes. Motorhomes, caravans dogs – no.
The campsite is in the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and in the shadow of The Long Mynd, one of Shropshire’s most-famous hills. There are footpaths and bridleways across this heathland ridge which stretches seven miles long and three miles wide. The whole area is popular for walking, horseriding and mountain-biking. You can walk straight from your pitch out on to the Long Mynd. Alternatively head six miles to the Carding Mill Valley visitor centre where there’s parking, information and a tea room. You can also swim in the Carding Mill Reservoir. Its on the edge of the market town of Church Stretton, which is worth a visit and a good place to pick up supplies. The market town of Ludlow, with its medieval streets, ruined castle and river bank, is 15 miles south and a popular place to visit. En route you pass the little town of Craven Arms where you might want to stop off to visit the Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre (01588 676060) and Stokesay Castle (0370 333 1181), one of the best-preserved fortified medieval manor houses in the UK. Shrewsbury, the attractive county town of Shropshire, is under 20 miles from Hamperley Hideaways.

Hamperley Hideaways is located at Hamperley Farm, Crosspipes, Church Stretton, Shropshire SY6 6PT
From the A49, between Shrewsbury and Ludlow (both around 15 miles away) take the B4370 towards Bishop’s Castle. After just over a mile, turn right. After a further half mile, you will reach a crossroads where you see Hamperley Farm; turn right here and after another half a mile, turn right again, through a gate and on to a stone track. This will lead you to the car park which will be signposted on the left.
There’s a railway station in Church Stretton, five miles from site. From there you can take a bus to Little Stretton and then follow quiet country lanes for the final two miles on foot to reach the campsite.
