Glamping pods, Scandinavian lodges and first-class camping and caravanning in 25-acre's of Herefordshire countryside, covered by pockets of woodland

Who needs a playground when you’ve got a pond? That seems to be the attitude at Woodside Country Park, where the focus is more on camping’s natural pleasures than installing a raft of artificial flimflam. The result is a 25-acre space that’s covered by pockets of woodland and no fewer than nine different ponds. In the summer, the largest, Cider Mill Pool, is a central convening point for families as children hurl themselves from a small jetty and dabble like oversized ducks among its waters. It’s a scene more reminiscent of rural France than middle England.

Yet rural is certainly what Woodside Country Park is. Despite being just two miles from the amenities of Ledbury, this is a real countryside site with excellent views and a peaceful, partially ‘wild’ ambience. It really is a ‘country park’, home to over 500 native water plants, trees and shrubs, planted alongside swathes of wild flowers, giving colour and variety all year round. As well as swimming, kids will love dipping around in the smaller ponds for insects and bugs (you can even buy a net in reception) and looping trails among the trees provide great bird spotting opportunities.

Camping-wise the site has something for everyone. Weather worriers who want to travel light can pluck for one of their wooden camping pods or a bed in the large, bunkhouse. The former, nestled among tall pine trees, are simply furnished (bring your own bedding and camping gear) but are well insulated and spacious, featuring a heater, double plug socket and lighting. The bunkhouse, meanwhile, also features a dining and cooking area, with five different rooms each sleeping up to four people. They’re more functional than luxurious – cosy indoor options particularly popular during the winter months – but are a wonderfully handy option if you don’t fancy pitching a tent.

Out in the open, there are two different camping meadows, situated either side of a country lane that runs through the middle of the park. Near the pods, Orchard Field has room for just 15 pitches, well spread out and almost all with electricity, while over the road the larger camping meadow (near the swimming pond) is geared more towards tent campers, with space for 40 tents but only a dozen electrical hook ups. It creates a field coloured by canvas and campervans – a classic camping vibe, aided by views across the pond to rolling fields, climbing into the hills around Hereford 10 miles to the east.

The sheer size of the place means much of the day can be spent on site. In the woods the most gargantuan trees house fairies, with tiny doors to be discovered among the roots, and in a far corner of the site yet more pools are accompanied by picnic benches in a designated conservation area. Along the opposite perimeter of the park, meanwhile, the long distance Herefordshire Trail runs. It’s an excellent route that skirts the county and is just one of the reasons the site is so popular with walking groups – along with the nearby Malvern Hills. If you’re still in need of ideas the reception hut has a big stash of brochures, too. So there really is no excuse not to get out there!

Fantastic camping park in beautiful surroundings

Booked a weekend here and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. Reception staff were ever so welcoming and extremely helpful. Camp was spacious and very well looked after. Excellent and very clean facilities and set in a lovely part of the UK. Absolutely great all round and brilliant base for the Malvern Hills if you want to go for walks. Would stay here again 100%.

Fabulous

Our stay at Woodside was fabulous with beautiful surroundings and great facilities. The reception staff were lovely and we all had a great weekend. Would definitely recommend.

Great site for the family

We have just come back from a weekend at Woodside and had a great time. The site was quite busy, but there were plenty of clean showers, toilets and washing up sinks. The swimming lake was great fun and the hire of fire pits on site was great. As it got dark, lots of people lit their fire pits and we sat toasting marshmallows and watching the stars come out. We’ll definitely be back.

Good friendly site

Stayed 4-7 September and had a good time. Everyone seemed friendly and although there did seem to be alot of people on site, social distancing was generally adhered to, although there were a few who decided not to follow guidelines. I would like to see more signs and thought gone into this on the site. The site itself is great, although not as big as i thought it was going to be. Being able to have fires and electric is a plus. There are also chemical loo disposal points. We pitched close to the hedge and it would be great to see it trimmed a little so that the views would be visible. Would stay again

Unforgettable

Our short stay in one of the pods at Woodside Country Park was wonderful. The accommodation was clean, the reception staff were incredibly helpful going the extra mile for us. The site itself is beautiful and well maintained with a family friendly atmosphere. All precautions were taken regarding the current situation with Covid. This little break was just what we needed. We will definitely be returning!

Great atmosphere, extremely helpful staff within clean tidy beautiful grounds.

We booked into the bunkhouse and was really surprised at how great it was. We had everything we needed and had a great few nights sleep. Swan in the extremely cold jetty pond. Had a paddle round in an inflatable kayak too. The other guests were a great crowd too throughout the site. I'd recommend this for dog owners too as they're very welcome here. All in all a great short break. I will be coming back again soon Hmm December pond swimming?

Beautiful relaxed campsite.

Beautiful place for a site. The atmosphere was relaxed and everyone kept to the quiet times between 10 and 8 even though it was a busy bank holiday weekend. The swimming pond was a big hit with the kids and there was plenty of room for ball games. The fire pits were great and lovely to gather around in the evening. The loos were lacking in paper a couple of times hence 4 instead of 5 stars. As I say it was busy though.

Excellent facilities

Spent one night in the bunkhouse, everything seemed well organised & of good quality. The pool at the bottom of the site is a nice feature. Ledbury is pretty if rather sleepy. If you're driving into Malvern check out Malvern hills vintage, it's an Aladin's cave.

Couldn’t of asked for more!

Lovely campsite suitable for all ages. Staff were friendly, helpful and spot on for ensuring the site was clean throughout our stay (we all felt very safe!) Brill location in the countryside for walks but close enough to the town and shops. Would definitely return!

Really lovely

Woodside is a really well-run site - super clean facilities, good Covid measures in place, and really warm and welcoming. We loved being able to have a firepit, and walk around the ponds and meadows. Storm Francis was pretty terrifying but we and the tent survived! We love the local area and hope to come back.

Perfect getaway!

Woodside is the perfect getaway location. Ideally located for access to the malvern hills and also anywhere along the river wye. Perfectly set up for covid with one way system for the toilets and hand sanitiser and clean toilets and showers. The lakes were great to walk the dogs around with adequate poop bins. The over the phone checkin limited contact for covid and was more than willing to be helpful and explained how things worked. It seemed great for families as plenty of space for the kids to play and the lake to swim in. The only downside was it was unclear when the toilets/showers were in use without trying all the handles as there was no clear marker from the outside but despite this it was very good value for money with the electric hookup included. Would definately stay here again.

Great area, campsite and people!

Really friendly people who were very accommodating. We paid the extra to have a gazebo but we ended up not being able to get our hands on one. So when we arrived, we were kindly given an extra bag of logs instead. They also gave us a newspaper and box of matches to help us start our fire pit. Theubdidnt have to do this as it was our own forgetfulness, but it made us feel very welcomed and looked after. The toilets were nice and well kept, the area around the lake and ponds were really lovely to explore and so was the conservation area. We chose to explore the malvern hills nearby which we would recommend! Had a lovely couple of nights stay and we picked out with the weather!

Excellent campsite

We had a lovely 3 night stay here, very pretty and peaceful. Kids had a lovely time running free. The faculties are great, clean individual washrooms which are very to use. We were going to add some extra nights but our tent sprung a few leaks 🙈 We will be back.

Lovely quiet site with good facilities

Relaxed site with self selected pitches and plenty of electrical hookups for our campervan. The upper field is the quietest but also on a slope which you have to be careful of. The lower field is much larger and more lively, but everyone respected the night time quietness rules. Interesting conversation area and a pond for kids to swim in. Loads of space for ball games and frisbees etc. Clean toilets and showers, and plenty of both. Staff are friendly and helpful. Hadn’t stayed in the area before but we found plenty of lovely walking and cycling opportunities.

Wonderful quiet stay

We stayed from 8/8 to 13/8, hotest days of the year and Woodside was perfect. The lake was just what we needed. We pitched in Orchard fields and had so much space and much needed shade. The field is on a slope but this was worth it for the view. We enjoyed both a lovely walk into Ledbury and a cycle ride round the quiet roads. Staff were lovely and helpful, only comment would be that the toilets and showers could do with updating although they were clean it would be nice to have more space to do your teeth and space for wash bags etc. We will definitely be back.

Lovely campsite

We stayed in the Orchard which was a very quiet small field. We loved our little spot and had a fantastic weekend. The only one thing that annoyed us were the pesky flies but I suppose that's the price you pay for staying in a pretty Orchard. The rest of the campsite was great. There's good dog walking in and around the site. Lovely swimming lake and beautiful little ponds, we loved the ponds behind the lodges. The staff were super friendly and helpful and we are so grateful for their help jump-starting our van. We will definitely stay again.

Perfect relaxing getaway

After working all through the Covid pandemic as Nurses, me and 3 of my colleagues were desperate for a night away to relax, unwind and have a change of scenery - we stumbled upon woodside country park, and hit the jackpot. Social distancing could be and was maintained at all times thanks to the planning of the staff that work there, as well as the amount of space and land thats the park has to explore and enjoy. The facitilies were all clean, and the accomodation much bigger and more comfortable than expected. We had a lovely relaxing time filled with laughs, and would definitely visit again. Thank you!

Beautiful Park with great views

From the moment we arrived the hosts were very welcoming, an absolute beautiful country park. Amazing log cabins, very clean and spacious facilities. Nearby supermarkets if you need supplies. Great for walking, swimming or just relaxing. Will definitely be going back

Love everything about this place!

Had a fantastic 4 night stay here, camping in Cidermill West. Friendly welcome, pick your own pitch, toilets and showers clean, excellent washing up facilities. Countryside walks from the site. The grounds and lakes are beautifully kept. Swimming in the lake was an absolute joy (very hot weather). So much space around we sat under trees in the grounds to read and didn't see another soul for hours. Just a brilliant site all round.
★★★★☆

Fantastic lake!

We have just spent 2 lovely nights camping on Cider Mil East. The lake was an absolute godsend during the heatwave! The children spent most of the time happily swimming there. What a find! The only downside was the toilets and showers were not cleaned on the second day (12/08/20). This was particularly worrying during the current situation. Having said that, we are looking forward to returning and exploring the area further.

Response from Woodside Country Park

I am so sorry to read this, we did have a problem with staff, but were not made aware of it until later in the day when immediately we acted and sorted it out, so please, please, another time if you see a problem like this please let us know, we are sorry again and hope you can come and see us another time.
★★★★☆

Perfect apart from the large groups

This campsite was absolutely delightful (we also rented a pod but this had no room anywhere for cooking if you also wanted to sit somewhere so I would not recommend those). The camping field was so pleasant and the short walk into Ledbury through an orchard was lovely. We stayed a week and every night until the last was utterly peaceful. On the Friday however several really large groups arrived and one chose to park their cars beside our tent and pitch literally inches from where we slept. They proceeded to shout raucously to one another until 1am when someone finally told them to stop, but we had had no sleep until then and if we hadn't been leaving the next day would have had to move our entire tent and contents elsewhere. It is such a shame about this as in every other way we had loved this campsite.

Response from Woodside Country Park

Thank you for your valued feedback, and we are sorry that your last night with us was so noisy, we did speak to the party  twice on that evening, and they haven't made any noise since!  Also I wish you had spoken to us about the extra cars, as we have plenty of space for them to park elsewhere away from the camping, and we would have been only too happy to ask them to do this. We only hope you can come and see us another time, this is not typical of our site.  Sorry

Fun few days

Lovely location close to Ledbury - a really nice small town to wander in. We walked in the Malvern Hills, which are beautiful. The campsite was set up well for the Covid-19 requirements, with hand sanitiser, phoning on arrival etc. Toilets and showers were cleaned regularly and were good quality.

great site

a great site for walking, fishing, open water swimming, camp fires, bbq,s,nice toilet shower blocks, sanitizer provided. and i have to be honest the rules were adhered to during our stay it went nice and quiet after 10 30 people sitting round drinking eating and chatting. You are allowed to choose your own pitch so we had one with a fabulous view across the fields. Yes i would recommend and yes would stay there again
★★★★★

Lovely relaxing weekend

We had a fantastic weekend here. The swimming lake was brilliant for the kids and the woodland and surrounding walks kept us busy for the weekend. The boys loved a bit of pond dipping. The toilets are on a one way system. In the Cider Mill field there are individual toilets, most with shower wet rooms incorporated. The disabled/family shower room was perfect for showering off the boys after swimming in the lake. We didn’t have to queue (probably because we showered in the afternoons). The shop is officially closed but you can buy firewood, hire fire pits, buy marshmallows, sweets, ice lollies and fishing nets (the bright coloured seaside kind). We didn’t have a problem with noise. Fantastic site we would definitely visit again!
★★★★★

Relaxing break in a lovely site

The swimming lake was what made the site special. We swam every day. Allowing fire pits is a plus, and really is an essential for us. The ‘quiet time’ at half 10 was a bit early for us, I guess our kids are used to getting to sleep with us chatting on in other camp sites. Would definitely return.

Great spot - but noisy

The location is perfect, the pitches are excellent and the facilities are reasonable and well maintained. Our only issue was the noise. Despite it clearly saying that 10:30 pm is time for silence (half an hour too late in my opinion anyway) both nights we were there it was excessively noisy well beyond 11:30pm. I think it is just a function of it being such a large, child-friendly site that seems to encourage big groups. In retrospect it was probably our fault for choosing this over a smaller more peaceful one. For this reason it isn’t a place we will return to, but I can see why others come back year after year - it is horse for courses I guess 🤷🏻‍♂️.

Pandemic Get away

After the last few months being in a pandemic this break was needed. Alot of people fear going away at the moment due to Covid, but I can honestly say I felt safe! hand sanitizer was always replenished, soap in every toilet, facilities where clean all the time! The staff where amazing! The campsite its self is just beautiful, very clean and organised! I booked a camping pod which I absolutely loved! but my friends camped, we all had such an amazing weekend, the kids where able to swim in the lake onsite, whilst swimming the fish made there way to them where they allowed us to feed them bread, it was such an amazing experience for the children, we went round the conservation area which was just beautiful and full of wild life! I cant say a single bad word about our weekend away. On the evening we was able to rent a fire pit, which most campsites dont allow! but Woodside does! this for me just made our camping feel like proper camping, the children could roast marshmallows and sit round the fire, this is how camping should be enjoed and Woodside made that happen in every aspect! The staff provided us with so much information about the nearest shops if needed, walks we can go on, local things in the area. We have made some amazing memories this weekend and we was all sad to leave, but will 100% be booked up as soon as we can for another memory making weekend!

Couldn't have asked for more

A great stay! Couldn't have asked for more. A beautiful spot, surrounded by greenery and a lovely little lake which you can purchase a fishing ticket for. Plenty of room to pitch and hook up. Facilties on site were nearby and in top condition, very well maintained. Staff always nearby and on hand to help, not that we needed any, everything was well explained on check in. Fire pits ready for hire, firewood available for purchase ; bricks on hand to cater for the grass. A coin operated washing machine and drier on site to use, showers, toilets and washing up sinks available. Fire extinguishers nearby too. Chemical waste disposal and plenty of drinking water taps around. Shout out to fellow campers Gordon and Tracey who gave us lots of tips on arrival, lovely community. Plenty to do, enjoyed the on site conservation area, we set a hammock up and relaxed in the stillness with the sound of the of the water trickling down by the pond. Eastnor Castle and the stunning grounds are well worth a visit. Absolutely exquisite. Many walks around, we chose a short woodland trail around Dog Wood, up by the Market House or "building on stilts". Glorious views as well as mystic paths coved by trees and vegetation. Definitely be back for more, as there is more to see and do!

Great family site.

Just back from a 3 night break at Woodside Country Park which we have thoroughly enjoyed. We had an electric pitch on Cider Mill East field. We loved that you can choose your own pitch. We had a fantastic view over the site to the fields and hills in the distance. The site is perfect for families, with a lake for wild swimming, and loads of paces for children to run around. Over the road, where the lodges are is a conservation area which is beautiful and very peaceful. The showers are hot, and even with the covid guidance in place we didn't have a problem getting a shower or loo when we needed to. The toilets are cleaned regularly, but despite notices about children using them without an adult present, were sometimes the worse for wear. Parents fault not the site managers Helen and Gill, who are unfailingly helpful and friendly. You can hire a fire pit for £5.00 a night which many did, and BBQs are fine too. I think if we visit again we will do so outside of school holidays, when I'm sure it will be even more peaceful. All in all I recommend this site to anyone who enjoys camping in the country with the convenience of a town nearby. Ledbury is a lovely quaint town, literally a few minutes up the road by car. We walked it one day, and took a route on a public footpath through an orchard and fields which was very pleasant. The only minor points I would make is that the road through the site is dusty when dry, and some drivers drove too quickly and kicked up a lot of dust. Maybe a speed limit sign may help?. Also I wondered if recycling bins could be marked clearly, as everything seemed to be put into general wast bins. Other than that the site is fabulous.
★★★★★

Well organised site in beautiful setting

A lovely campsite in a beautiful setting with well maintained facilities. The owners were very efficient at responding to emails. Our two boys (age 5 and 3) loved exploring the ponds and toasting marshmallows on the firepit. It was our first camping experience as a family of five and our only regret is not booking an extra night or two! We will definitely return soon.

Lovely place but would not recommend the bunk house.

The site itself was stunning. It was clean and well maintained. The staff members we spoke to were all really friendly & helpful. We stayed in the bunkhouse but unfortunately I wouldn’t recommend due to the noise. We were in room 1 which is directly above the stairs, communal area & showers. To say it was loud would be an understatement, we could hear other guests walking up the stairs and slamming the doors gone 10.30 pm. Normally this wouldn’t be a problem but we had 2 small children that went to bed fairly early and they were constantly being disturbed by the banging. Maybe some carpet or possible sound proofing on the stairs and hallways would fix this, something to stop the door slamming would also be useful. We would visit again but we’d have to give the bunk house a miss which is a shame as the concept is great.

Excellent site in a lovely location

Lovely spacious site, with the fishing ponds providing a haven for wildlife e.g. kingfishers, large carp, buzzards etc. Plenty of electric hook ups, toilets, showers, hot water and facilities for BBQ/fires. The only very minor gripe was the lack of instructions on how to lock the toilet doors!

Response from Woodside Country Park

Oh no - thanks for your review - we will see what we can do about that - all our signs seem to fall off due to the humid environment in the shower rooms, but many thanks for the feedback! Hope we can see you again though!

Great breakaway

Just returned from a great short stay, so much we added an extra night onto our stay. Was anxious about being aware after lockdown but the break was just what we needed. Checking in was very simple, we had a great pitch with plenty of space to social distance. Great area for the kids to play so they weren't all in top of one another. Toilets and showers were regularly cleaned with ample sanitizer stations. It was a great break from the reality at the moment and felt perfectly safe the whole time we were there. Would definitely recommend.

Great little camp site

Great camp site with facilities to match. Staff all really nice and approachable with helps. Lovely lake in which to swim and play (little cold even on a hot day but that's to be expected). Bbqs and fire pits allowed which we liked and close enough to civilization to get to a supermarket for some cold beers. All in all a great place. Will stay again.

A great campsite - we loved it!

Superb! This is a great campsite, well run & organised with excellent facilities. With lock down easing it was essential to find a place where hygiene and safety were considered seriously & happily that's the case here with toilets & showers kept very clean & the bonus of nice hot showers. There's a lovely large wild flower area with small ponds & a large pond for kids to swim & play. Campfires are allowed which is fun. There are lovely views and no road traffic noise. We had a great time staying here and I recommend this place highly

Lovely site

Had a really lovely stay here, the contact less check in worked really well. Plenty of space on the field and the grounds are really spacious too. Kids loved swimming in the lake and exploring the woodland areas, then roasting marshmallows over the hired firepit. Toilets and showers were clean and plenty of hot water throughout the stay. Would definitely return!

Peaceful family camping in an idyllic setting

We loved our stay at Woodside Country Park, the site was very calm and relaxing and the views were stunning. The grounds were great for the kids to explore, don't forget your swimming costumes for a dip in the lake!

Fantastic facilities and service

We were a little apprehensive about booking so soon after lockdown but decided to take the risk and it totally paid off. The Park owners are so lovely and welcoming and couldn't have been more brilliant. Everything was so clean and well maintained, other campers were very respectful of each others space also. The open water swimming was fabulous, the fairy woods, the space (not hundreds all cramed in as I've experienced in some parks) the children loved it, fire pits to ward off the cold, and relative silence after 10.30pm meant a peaceful sleep. I’ve been recommending to everyone since our return.

Hidden gem!

Lovely little place, we stayed in on of the pods just for one night as a last minute getaway. The place is beautiful, the staff there were really friendly and helpful - even offering us late check out. We couldn't have asked for anything more and will definitely be back. Thank you!

A great first camping trip

We’ve just enjoyed a lovely first camping trip as a family of 4. The site was very clean especially the inside toilet/shower block. It was great having hot showers and the washing up facility was great too. The staff were very helpful. Views were fantastic. Overall a successful first camping trip!

Nice little site

Really good facilities and super clean. Small site but with flexibility in the spacing so you don't feel hemmed in. Didn't get to use the lake, but seemed really popular with everybody else on the hot bank holiday weekend!

A great place to meet up with friends

We stayed a few nights in our camper van and met up with friends. We chose the site for its location as it was nearly equidistant for all of us. I was really pleased with the beauty and spacious parkland and also a proper hot shower in the morning! There were tents and kids and dogs and lots of little fire pits in the evening dotted about. However there was a lovely relaxing atmosphere throughout our stay as there were no ‘wallies’ on the site. Just how camping should be. Thank you.

Lovely quiet stay

My husband and I stayed in a camping pod whilst 3 of our friends stayed in a room in the bunk house. We all preferred the pods because the bunk house was simply too hot. Very little air can enter through the tiny windows meaning it wasn't possible to spend any time in there during the day and sleeping was difficult for them. The pods were spacious for 2 people and located directly in front of the toilet block which was convenient. The site itself is in a lovely quiet location and has beautiful well kept grounds. We were able to catch many fish from the ponds just a short walk from our pod. We also enjoyed visiting the charming town of Ledbury with numerous boutique shops and pubs, though note you do need a car for the trip because the roads near to the camp site are too narrow and dangerous to go by foot.

Great camp

We visited as a family of 4 as first foray into camping and weren't disappointed. The fields were clean and we'll maintained. There were plenty of toilets, showers and washing up areas that were practical and clean. The fridge and freezer were a nice touch. My husband and son loved the fishing and caught loads of roach and carp. Loved the amount of space available to camp and play in. Overall a great camp, thank you.

Nice weekend stay for the summer

We enjoyed the whole area very much, also the swimming in the dam. It is a very peaceful, green and lush site. We didn't enjoy the bunkhouse so much, as it had very little circulation and we couldn't go inside it during the day. There are just very small windows high up with no view, so you couldn't really spend time in them. It was way too hot as well due to the lack of circulation. There were also a lot of flies. Maybe invest in fly traps/ lights. I don't think we will book it again, unless it becomes really nice to live in them. We would rather book the pods next time.

Great family site

We’ve stayed twice now with 2 children aged 7 and 3 and each time it’s been great. The new shower facilities are great to use and are nice and clean. There’s a pond for pond dipping and a larger pond for wild swimming. There’s other ponds too for fishing. We love that you can hire a fire pit and have a camp fire. Loads to do in the local area and the supermarket really is only a 5 minute drive. We’ll be going back again later in the year, can’t wait

Lovely campsite

We stayed in the Cidermill field (non electric). It’s a beautiful setting, great if you like fishing and wildlife. The field wasn’t over filled so there was plenty of space for the kids to run around. Amenities were clean and well kept. Plenty of showers and toilets so no queues. The staff were really friendly too. No noise after 1030pm was respected by all. We’ll be going again.

Peaceful site with great views

We stayed on an electric pitch in the Orchard field, in a tent with two young children. The field isn’t completely flat but we pitched at the bottom and had no problems at all. The their field was very flat and great for kids to play on or larger groups to pitch together. It was a lovely quiet site which was ideal for our little ones. They loved exploring the lakes, woodland areas and sitting areas in the large outbuildings, so much so that we didn’t bother to leave the site on one of the days (and everyone in the family agreed this was the best day of the holiday!). The owners were very friendly and helpful but left you to your own devices too - the perfect balance! Toilets and showers were always clean and the site was very well maintained. We hired a fire pit and bought marshmallows to toast from the onsite shop. No complaints whatsoever and we will definitely be returning

Lovely friendly site

We were only there for 1 night, but found the whole experience lovely. The campsite staff laid on a tv, chairs and gazebo's for watching the World Cup match - which they didnt have to do - and went out of their way to shelter us from the blistering sun as much as possible! Electric Hook ups all worked great, great facilities for toilets, showers, washing up etc. Shop could have stocked a few more basics (eg. Bread!) but other than that the whole stay was great!

Very pleasant & friendly campsite in a countryside location

I went with my 2 boys (8 & 10 yrs) for the May bank holiday weekend. We were blessed with the hottest May bank holiday for about 50 years. (27 deg in early May!) We had a great weekend, and - because it was so hot - really enjoyed being able to swim in the small fishing lake. As did all the others kids on the campsite! The views and countryside around the campsite are stunning. A lovely location. So why only 3 stars then I hear you ask? My eldest son had just had a birthday where he received a new bike so I spent ages choosing a location that would be good to take him out on rides. This site boasted loads of great cycling in the vicinity. I think this was a huge over sell as you'd need to drive 20 miles to get to any of it. There was none nearby. Not really very practical for a weekend with 2 young boys. :o( I found this pretty disappointing given the description. Also on the downside, it was advertised that open fires were ok. They were not. Fires in a BBQ style bases were ok, and you could even hire these at £5 / night. Not really what I consider 'open fires'! Every campsite in the UK allows a BBQ base with a fire in it so you can hardly advertise it as a special extra feature. Finally, the field was on a bit of a slope which was a pain with the caravan to get level. Overall, we had a great time but I think much of that was because we got lucky with the weather. The campsite owners were very friendly too, which was nice.

Excellent

We stayed for a 2 night camping adventure over the weekend on the lower camping field and can truly recommend this site to all. As a family of three, with a young toddler, we were impressed by the care and attention given by the all the staff. The site grounds are excellent and well maintained, showers and toilets cleaned regularly and views wonderful. We had a lovely relaxing break and will surely return for more!

Fantastic!

A fantastic location in stunning countryside, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the friendly and welcoming Woodside Country Park. We were completely relaxed, enjoying the beautiful surroundings and tranquility of the site. A wonderful rural family experience, our children loved the freedom, going for walks, riding their bikes, jumping off the jetty, swimming, catching their first fish in the lake, finding fairy doors, seeing cygnets, swans, ducklings and ducks - we had a great time and would highly recommend this place!

Relaxing and peaceful

Lovely place to get away from it all and yet still close enough to Ledbury for bits and bobs that we needed. No set out pitches so we could pitch in a circle with our friends around the camp fire toasting marshmallows! Definitely be back!
