East Farm Dairy, Osmington Mills, Weymouth, Dorset DT3 6HA
The Owner SaysThere is no holiday park feel as we are NO longer connected to the static caravan park. We are a family run campsite catering for families and couples. The site has stunning sea views. Cool Camping description suggets there is a clubhouse with food, please note we DO NOT have this. There is a local public house which is a 5-10 minute walk from the site. Also there is NO swimming pool. The Cool Camping for Kids book’s description is also now incorrect as we are no longer connected with the neighbouring caravan park (Osmington Holiday Park, formerly known as Osmington Mills Holidays Ltd) and so do not have use of their facilities, i.e club, swimming pool and shop). We do have our own shop on site.
We stayed at Rosewall last week (8th September) and it is a lovely, well run campsite with breathtaking views. The campsite is a mere 10 mins stroll from the SWT coastal path so ideal if you're doing that. It has a a well equipped shop with sime lovely local cheeses and ciders too! The toilet blocks were some of the best i have used, clean and the shower was excellent. The pub nearby is the Smugglers Inn, sitting outside there on a lovely late summer's day was nice and the ale was not bad. The pub is 13th Century, however has gone the same way as so many, with a chain pub makeover and the food's gone like that too. Order to arriving at your table arouind 6 mins would be my guess!!! Don't get me wrong, it was ok, but i could have got the same in my local chain pub. Shame pubs lose their identity But Rosewall is a lovely site and only a 5 miles stroll to Weymouth so a night out there is doable - indeed we did see a coiuple of taxis arriving in the campsite
Gorgeous place and in a great position for exploring the coast. really wellcstocked shop onsite and pub a shkrt walk away. the only down side was our fault...we pitched on a slight hill for the view and, by day 7, were ready for flat...
A Little Gem
This site was just perfect from the start. The owners made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived and we found a great spot to pitch with views of the sea. Shop was well stocked, play park was great for the kids and the washing facilities were excellent. A really lovely campsite with like-minded campers and a stones throw from The Smugglers Inn which is great too. What was particularly nice was the small touches from the owners such as making sure your guy ropes were OK or letting us know about bad weather coming in. We shall be visiting again next year for sure!
Lovely spot, lovely site
Remarkably quiet and tranquil considering its size, lots of space to pitch, lovely location, very friendly staff and clean good quality facilities - what more could you ask for?
Best site I have ever visited
My son and I visited Rosewall Camping because of the location, which is directly on the South West Coast Path. We were prepared for almost any site, but were overwhelmed by the peace and tranquillity, the views, the facilities and, most of all, the staff.
I normally go wild-camping, and so I was expecting to be assigned a pitch, given a list of "dos and don'ts" and then be left to get on with it. Not a bit of it. "Pitch wherever you like", we were told.
The first thing that strikes you as you enter the site is the size, and the views from the entrance are fantastic. The site stretches down hill for about quarter of a mile, broken up by hedges to give some privacy and shelter from the winds, which can be strong.
There is a small shop with all the usual things one might expect, open for several hours in the morning and one or two hours in the afternoon. Two bathroom blocks and laundry facilities are provided so the pitches at the bottom of the hill can still pop to the loo or get a hot shower conveniently without having to ascend a couple of hundred feet. There is hot and cold water at the plentiful washing-up sinks, sufficient free hot showers for everyone, wash-basins, shaver-points, mirrors and even mains charging points. I saw one enterprising camper plugging in his electric toaster... And the blocks were always in a state of pristine cleanliness.
If you don't have transport, the X53 bus runs a regular service that will take you from just outside the site to Poole in one direction and Weymouth, Seaton, Lyme Regis and Exeter in the other.
There is a ban on open or log fires, though barbecues (even the disposable ones) are fine. When Dave, the (by his own admission) handsome, clever and cultured Kiwi, saw that we were using a wood-gas stove, we returned from a hike to find a large pile of ready-cut wood for fuel. He and his partner Karen were perfect hosts and we'll always be grateful that they were able to provide us with paracetamol at midnight when my son was suffering heatstroke.
Mary, Dave and Karen; you made what would have been a good holiday into a memorable one, and we'll be returning whenever we can.

great location and facilities
Very well run site and lovely location with a view of the sea from most of the site plus short walk to the Smugglers inn pub which also does good food. Whilst a lot of the site is on a slope there are some fully flat parts. Was very impressed with how often they check and clean the toilet blocks which although appear to be quite sparse given the size of the site we never had to wait for a toilet or shower. Was very busy for the August bank holiday weekend and some people do camp too close as there aren't any marked pitches which has positives and negatives so was quite pleased when the site was less busy. Good camp shop with all the basics although they had run out of bbq fuel. Overall would recommend and will return if in the area.
Lovely campsite. Wonderful sea views, and a quiet setting. The site slopes a bit so seek out a flat area if you can. There is plenty of room ,with pitches spread over 3 levels, and 2 clean toilet and shower blocks, one at the top and one at the bottom. The shop is good, with fresh bread and coffee available. Best of all is the lovely setting, wonderful sea views and a short walk to the nearby pub, the Smugglers Inn with decent though unremarkable food. A little further on brings you to the rocky shoreline.
Would definitely recommend .
Fantastic location for walks along the cliffs to either Lulworth Cove and Weymouth. The site was very friendly and clean. Would definitely go back again.
Great location and site
We are just back from a weekend here, our first time to visit and we will definitely stay again. There are loads of places to pitch and some of the views are amazing. It was busy but not packed and there was still loads of room. The facilities were great, always spotless and in good locations on the site. The shop is very handy and the croissants in the morning are lovely and fresh! Don't forget to visit the Smuggler's Inn for a drink or some food, worth a visit. This is a great camp site in a lovely location, friendly staff and good clean facilities - nothing fancy which is what camping is all about. I would recommend to anyone.
This is a lovely campsite. Ideally located to go walking to Lulworth Cove and for a short stroll to the pub. The scenery is beautiful and it was a joy to see so children playing around the site. The owners are very helpful, letting me arrive and pitch up after dark. I would definately recommend this site.
We have visited this campsite twice, and would return again with no hesitation. The location is ideal, set in rolling hills with beautiful views across the coastline, and within walking distance of Weymouth. The Smugglers Inn is a lovely country pub less than a 5 minute walk, and serves great food. The site itself is very well kept up, with excellent toilet and shower facilities, which are regularly cleaned, and include plug sockets and large mirrors. The campsite shop is also well stocked with essentials and ice packs to rent. I would recommend this site to anyone.
We visited Rosewall back in late August and had an amazing time. We had the site pretty much to ourselves. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and gave us advice on where to go and places to eat as we didnt know the area very well. The site had lovely views of the sea and surrounding scenery. The site was well situated and although the site was steep in parts there were plenty of flat pitches for the less adventurous. We however decided to pitch up on a near vertical slope to make the most of the amazing view. We did not regret it.
The Smugglers in was a very short walk from the site and was perfect. The food was amazing and good value for money, the service was fast and the staff were attentive. we spent every evening there even if only for a drink or two as the atmosphere was so warming.
We were sad to leave Rosewall and The Smugglers but we will definately be returning in the near future.
We would highly recommend to anyone looking for a few days away from it all.
Lovely family campsite. Relaxed feel, plenty of space, decent washblocks, well-stocked shop, short walk to rocky beach, even shorter walk to excellent child-friendly pub. The kids made friends and disappeared to play on the swings, watch the rabbits and make their own games. Result.
A nice campsite - shame they don't apply their own rules. They say no groups (one reason we booked with a young family) unfortunately lots of groups - one was a party of around 30 ....!! A real shame as a good campsite but with large groups comes noise so i would say if you want a reasonably quiet (let's be honest no camping is that quiet) then I would not recommend Rosewall. Good campsite + noise. If they applied their own policy of no groups then this wouldn't happen or at least would be an honest representation of the site - as it is would only go if you don't mind alot of groups and noise.
A lovely campsite, plenty of room for large tents and space for the children to run around. The pub was an added bonus and gave us a nice stroll in the evening. The children played in the park and rode their scooters around the site without having to worry about annoying anyone. Shame there were no campfires allowed. Would definitely go back.
Good campsite with lovely views of the sea... great little pub down the road with excellent loacl beers - spent 2 nights down there and did not get through them all... the food is ok but expect a wait in season... the campsite facilities are good - clean toilet blocks... a little playpark for the kids - many pitches are slighly slopping but fine... had an issue with noise 1 of the nights though and moved the tent 20m down the site - no problems from then on... shop is well stocked and there is a Co-Op 10mins along the main road...
