Glamping with a panoramic view of the countryside and historic walks, all within close proximity to Stonehenge and Salisbury

The allure of glamping is that it provides the same natural surroundings and scenery as regular camping, but without any of the fuss. Hillview Farm Glamping fits that bill and then some. It's a small five-tent pop-up site living up to its name thanks to its position atop a hill with stunning views across the Wiltshire countryside. It's also in a great location for days out to famous landmarks and locations including Stonehenge, the New Forest and Salisbury.

Hillview Farm owner Trudy recognised the former piggery's 14 acres of land as an ideal spot for guests with a penchant for rural exploration as the titular hill is flanked by beautiful and historic walks and cycle routes. The 54-mile Monarch's Way, so-called because it was the escape route utilised by King Charles II following his defeat in the Battle of Worcester, actually runs directly through the farm, as does the 217-mile King Alfred's Way cycle loop. This traffic-free trail encompasses prehistoric Stonehenge, Avebury Stone Circle, and more. It's little wonder that waves of visiting ramblers and cyclists began arriving at Hillview Farm Glamping as soon as it opened its gates.

But it's not just the proximity to these famous routes that has visitors recommending Hillview Farm as the ideal spot to drop your bags. Each bell tent is ideal for an easy and peaceful night's sleep, with a double bed in each along with provided bedding, carpeted flooring and bedside tables to rest your evening read on. After a long day of exploring, you'll be thankful for the two on-site hot showers and composting toilets, while food can be cooked on the fire pits with surrounding outdoor seating.

Hillview Farm's location next to lengthy trails makes it a standout, but it also provides the perfect hub for families looking to take in the local sights, too. At the camp, swings are set up in the woods for the kids to play on, while the adults arrange the day's activities. The quaint village of Pitton is is a walk away, with bustling Salisbury but a short drive away. Its cathedral is home to one of just four exemplifications of the Magna Carta, and its museum boasts a lauded archaeological gallery befitting of your adventurous trip. By car, Stonehenge and the New Forest are about half an hour away and you can even swap country life for the beach within the hour, as several Dorset beaches including Canford Cliffs, Calshot, and Avon being are reachable in 60 minutes. Then head back to the site with your tired little campers in tow, for an evening of admiring the panoramic scope of South West England from your grassy hill, as you throw some more wood on the fire for an unforgettably cosy evening.

Lovely last minute break

I booked this break very last minute and I’m so glad I did. It was just the perfect place for us to chill out and relax as a family. The bell tent was beautiful and spacious and the bed was very comfy. The toilets and showers were exceptionally clean and my daughter loved playing with the pool table and table football. It was lovely to relax by the fire in the evening after being out exploring Salisbury and the New forest near buy. Trudy and James were both very helpful and we thank them so much for a wonderful stay.

This gem of a glamping spot is brand new and an utter dream. Spacious, sturdy tipis with pillowy soft beds & furnishings, fire pits, excellent amenities including hot showers, all facing a gorgeous countryside view & located right near Salisbury, the New Forest, or just the peace & quiet of rolling Wiltshire fields. Trudy was an exceptional host & we couldn't have asked for a lovelier stay.
