Traditional tent camping the kids will love on a working Wiltshire farm.
For an authentic slice of rural Wiltshire life, few places can compete with Rouselands Farm. Home to herds of cattle, sheep and horses, this 90-acre livestock farm in the north Wiltshire village of Brinkworth plays host to a wonderfully understated spot for traditional tent camping. Comprising just 10 informal pitches spread across a lush, gently undulating meadow (not to mention a single, lightly furnished bell tent), this family-friendly campsite brings things back to camping basics. There’s plenty of room to roam so kids can embark on their own adventures. As a proper working farm, they’ll get a real kick out of the daily hum of farmyard life as the tractors go about their rounds. There are no electric hook-ups or hard-standings meaning no rows of caravans to blight the idyllic scenes that surround the site. Facilities are more than ample with a newly-refurbished block offering proper shower and toilet facilities, plus some basic kitchen provisions. Campfires are welcome and firepits can be rented for a small charge. And with the farm’s very own reared meat available to buy onsite, your evening barbecue is sorted.

Away from the campsite, the local area is rich in things to see and do. Rouselands Farm lies on the eastern edge of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, whose quintessential chocolate-box towns and villages like Bourton-on-the-Water, Cirencester and Stow-on-the-Wold are all within easy reach. One of the country’s most picturesque villages, Corfe Castle, should also make the itinerary, not least for the ruins of its titular fortress. The mystical prehistoric plains of Salisbury and iconic Stonehenge are not too far away either while the North Wessex Downs (another AONB) lie a little further to the east – see if you can spot Wiltshire’s ubiquitous white horse hill figures.

Come evening, light up a barbecue and enjoy some of our home bred and reared lamb and beef whilst watching the sun go down.

10 grass pitches for tents (max 4 people per pitch) and 1 furnished 4m bell tent (sleeps up to 4).

Beautiful and Relaxing

I cannot recommend this campsite enough. Myself and three friends stayed here for three nights. The camp is VERY spacious, has a lovely meadow in the middle. The loos and facilities are the cleanest I have ever seen at a campsite, in the green building you will find a basic kitchen with washing machine, sink, kettle and some local produce you can buy. You can hire a fire pit and logs, though if you want a fire to last all night I'd recommend getting an extra bag of logs per night. You can cook on the fire pits or bring your own BBQs, just remember to keep all fires off the ground to leave the grass as you find it. There are cows in the next door field, and if you're worried about hearing them... they weren't loud at all and we were camped right by the hedge fairly close to their area. The hosts are very helpful, and give advice on anything. About the campsite, where to walk, how to get to the nearest pub for food. (45 min walk or 10 min drive). The camp is very quiet, and if you like activities off site just take a look at Google and you'll find several places about twenty minutes drive away.

Lovely site, fab time

Had a fabulous week at Rouselands Farm. The site was lovely and spacious with plenty of room to run around and play. The toilets and showers were really clean (I think they were cleaned 3 times a day!). The owner was lovely and helpful and we enjoyed the fresh eggs every morning for breakfast. Peaceful location and would thoroughly recommend.

Super!

As camping should be. In the meadow, little going on, absolutely relaxing. Sanitary facilities small but absolutely fine and adequate. Our kids had great fun in the yard. They were allowed to help in the yard. Many interesting things to see nearby. Shaun and Alison are great hosts. And the sausages to grill are a dream! Absolute recommendation!

Lovely open field with lots of space, and all the facilities you need - the open fire was lovely

We had a lovely one-night stay at Rouselands. Unlike other campsites we've visited, there was lots of space. The boys (and the adults) had a great time running around the field in the dark, and toasting marshmallows on the fire. Our hosts were very friendly and helpful, with tips on good walks and anything else. We'd definitely come back!

Authentic camping experience - with an electric kettle!

We loved Rouselands - rustic & plenty of space for the kids to roam, real fires allowed (for hire or bring your own), and the owners were lovely. It's a working farm, so the kids got to see calves being fed and did some climbing on hay bales. Toilet/shower block is clean, well-equipped, and I think was solar-powered, plus has electric kettle and microwave which is SO helpful when camping with wee ones. Thoroughly recommend this place :)

Brilliant campsite, beautiful setting = camping bliss

We had an enjoyable couple of nights at Rouselands Farm Campsite, loads of green space around each group and plenty of space for the kids to roam. The facilities were also great with very clean shower block and kitchen area for washing dishes etc. Alison who runs the campsite was also very attentive and delivered a fire pit and wood direct to our pitch. We'll definitely be back, thanks for a great weekend.
