Camping in a magical woodland setting near a working farm

As if a coterie of cool animals – bison, elk, raccoons, chipmunks and more – wasn’t enough, how does 30 acres of gorgeous oak woodland sound? While the Bison Farm and shop is well known in these parts, the campsite is a bit of a secret. The small, sheltered paddock is reserved exclusively for caravans and campervans and also holds a fabulous wooden pod sleeping four, while the main field is primarily for groups. But Bush Farm’s real draw is its vast woodland area, throughout which are half a dozen super-sized clearings, each easily big enough to accommodate several tents. You’ll also find a picnic bench and brick firepit for use in each clearing and, if you need wood, there’s a designated area where you can chop your own. With so much frolicking about to be done among the woods – including a small brook for the kids to splash around in – a neat play area (including zip wire), and what basically amounts to a mini-zoo, there should be little temptation to leave the site. But, if you fancy a wee excursion, Stonehenge is just up the road, and there are a handful of gentle walks nearby.

One of the best!

We were camping there with a few people for a couple of nights, but it was one of the best camping trips I've had! The pitches are set in woodland with enough trees between you to feel private, but still close enough for a bit of community. The grounds nearby are incredible to explore with paths that take you through woodland, fields and past rivers, but the animals there really make it. There's a couple of owls, bison, elk and a load more, great for kids and the burgers and sausages they make from the elk and bison taste spectacular.. all in all, an amazing campsite at an even better price, well worth a visit!

Bush Farm

We just stayed here for the night, but wish we could've stayed longer! Definitely one of my favourite campsites and I've been to many! We had tent pitch 1, which was a large area of woodland with a picnic bench and fire pit. This was much more than we were expecting and much better than popular campsites where tents are piled on top of each other! As we weren't here for long I can't comment much on activities but it was only 20 minutes in the car from Stonehenge, which we were visiting, and we did get to see the bison! The shop looked well-stocked and the toilets were fine. The only cons were the £2 fee to use the shower and that we couldn't take our dog there!

Childhood escapism

This was our kind of campsite.  A friendly welcome and freedom to have old fashion fun.  We pitched our tent in small clearing in the wood and it felt like we were on a proper adventure. We then headed off to see the animals and explore the farm...or should I say safari's a close call!  Yes, the facilities are a little basic for some, but that is all part of the charm as you have your big game wilderness adventure!  Top it off with roasting marsh mallows on an open fire and my 11 year old didn't reach for his electronic toys once all weekend.....unheard of!
