Lovely, family campsite
Great, friendly campsite with very helpful and accommodating site wardens. Lovely, surrounding areas with plenty of cycling and walking to nearby villages. Would definitely stay again.
Lots of space and great firepit
Only 5 or 6 vans/tents. Lots of space. Really friendly welcome and offer of fire pit with wood and lighters for £20 for the two nights. Some road noise but otherwise excellent and hot showers
I'm not normally a fan of big campsites but our experience last night was great. Being late in the season, it was quite empty and we had our choice of where to camp. We pitched our tent in the Glade, a lovely field with a beautiful view - it felt quite 'real' and not 'campsitey' if that makes sense. Clean, solid toilet block and thorough Covid precautions. The gentleman who checked us in was really friendly. The whole experience was excellent and we will definitely be back.
Clean but not as expected
We stayed 2 nights and we were the only motorhome, and although it was clean had they been full how they were going to give you your own specific toilets/shower facilities the information was misleading as we were alone it did not matter
Excellent site with lots of space
Darren was very welcoming and let us choose our own pitch with electricity hook up. There we only 3 guests on our night so we had lots of space and showers and loos for our exclusive use. We'd definitely stay again. First class.
A great weekend!
All of the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The showers/toilets were all COVID secure and clean throughout our stay. There was plenty of space between pitches and we rented a fire pit for £20 which was a great way to stay a bit warmer! We would definitely come back in the summer!
A brilliant family break
We loved the space and beauty of the site. The toilet block was really clean. Far Peak is such an asset on the doorstep, we took full advantage of the facilities, which, though not cheap, make the weekend really special. Climbing, bike-riding and low-ropes, and delicious dinner at Koloshi Indian Brasserie! We will be back!
My partner and I just came up for the last weekend camp of the season; very gusty winds and chilly air but Far Peak was beautifully set up to keep us comfortable. Amazing hot showers, roaring campfire and gorgeous walks nearby to keep us busy. Will definitely come back in the summer! Thanks again :)
Great couple of nights- really well organised whilst still relaxed and friendly
We had to drive down the Fosse way to visit relatives so stopped off to stay without any extra journeying Whilst being super clean, organised and Covid secure, it was very relaxed - we were greeted and they couldn’t be more helpful Bar,cafe and pizza on site but our spot was so nice we didn’t go, and these facilities were tucked away and unobtrusive Love having a fire pit, and they’re able to rent pits and sell logs if you want, but there’s no obligation It’s a beautiful area of the country and we had some lovely walks Would like to come back and try the local pubs! Bikes would be a good way to explore although we managed fine without Traffic can be a bit noisy but we were ok with that We would definitely go back
I stayed in the shepherds hut for 2 nights and it was brilliant! It was September and it was very cosy, the hut comes with a picnic bench and fire pit, and there are lights inside and outside. Only negative was not being able to park the car next to it. Would definitely return again!
My wife and I stayed in the Glaze area of the campsite for two nights and enjoyed every minute. The check in was easy and we felt very welcome! We hired a fire pit for £20 which came in very useful. The amenities on site were great and the COVID regulations made things run smoothly. The location of Far Peak is ideal and a nice stroll over to Northleach for a sundowner is recommended. We will definitely be back and highly recommend.
Perfect few days away
We wanted to have a weekend away in a safe setting. Far Peak did not disappoint. Everything about this site is right, the owners are very helpful and happy to help nothing is too much trouble. Staff are on the ball and on top of all the COVID restrictions keeping everything clean and following the rule therefore making everyone feel safe and secure. Top marks to you all, very impressed. We will definitely be returning.
Really great weekend at far peak glamping. Was a completely new experience and I have never enjoyed camping but this was wonderful! We were going with a group of a few friends but they had to pull out last minute because they needed to self isolate so not being able to cancel a glamping tent was a BIG cost for them. The team at far peak was incredibly accommodating to our needs, you just need to ask! It was a shame our shower was either too hot or too cold and the BBQ area outside could’ve done with some lights. Especially for people who never camp, because bringing lanterns wasn’t something I really thought of bringing! We used our phone torches to be able to see our meat cooking. The toilet also didn’t have a light in it which was a bit dangerous as I am currently pregnant and needed the loo at night a lot! The compost toilet might not be ideal for morning sickness but luckily I had just past that stage of pregnancy! All in all, absolutely lovely weekend. The fire in the glamping tent made it super nice and cosy and ensured you never have to be cold. We brought an extra blanket which also helped. There is loads of things to do in the area meaning we will definitely be back! Thanks far peak for the Great weekend!
Fab few nights
We stayed 2 nights at Far Peak passing through Gloucster on our mini road trip. We booked an electric hook up tent pitch and our party also booked a glaming dome. We loved our time here, we stayed mid week and the site was really quiet. The toilets were spotless and had plenty of disinfectant handy. We diddnt use any of the on site facilities such as bar or take away as we loved the glamping dome so much. It had everything we needed for a fab stay, we sat both evenings with a bbq and fire pit (provided) and looked out over the lovely view. The only problem we had was with the electric in the dome as it diddnt seem to charge well and so we had to be cautious about keeping the cool box running all night.
Amazing first camping experience!
I was always an advid camper as a child, but now approaching my 30's ive always only ever booked at resorts/hotels. Me and my partner fancied a small local break away, and we thought lets bite the bullet and see how we get on camping! We luckily got together all our equipment, food, drinks etc in short notice and off we went! The site was easy to find, and well marked. We had booked in the glades but upon check-in the wonderful man Flyn saw we had no children with us, and suggested instead we move to the paddock (adult only). We also booked a fantastic firepit with him for the weekend - SO WORTH the £20 inc logs! Makes a real difference at night. Setup was easy, the space was fantastic and well spread out. The paddock had use of the Glade toilets, you were allocated a number for shower/bathroom. At each use they were spotless, sanitised and well looked after. The kitchen facilities had electrical access which you can use for a blowup bed or hairdryer etc. Onsite there is a bar/cafe and mess hall - in the evening they had a projector on with Hot Fuzz. Great company amongst the staff and nice way to end our evening with a few draft pints! Local surroundings are as expected - gorgeous scenery and fabulous walks. Northleach had some wonderful shops, and Bourton-On-Water was pictuersque (albiet very heavy with tourists on a sunday morning). Everything you will need is at this site, the staff are above and beyond friendly, facilities fantastic, and you'll have a fabulous time! Both me and my partner have started our work week with a big smile and spring in our step. We will surely make this our regular destination. Thanks to all the team there x
The perfect stay!
We stayed in a Shepherds Hut for the weekend (end of August) and it was just perfect! We found it plenty warm enough through the night. The toilets etc are about a minute or 2s walk away so I’d recommend bringing a camping toilet or disposable thing (like a ‘travel John’) if you’re likely to need a wee in the night. There are no plugs, just lights, so bring a battery pack for your phone or charge it in the car during the day. You can park fairly close to drop your stuff off (50m away), I did the duvet and pillows in one trip and our bag in the next one. Each but has its own picnic bench and a fire pit - I’d recommend buying skewers before you go if you want to toast marshmallows as the entire area was sold out! The facilities are very clean and the showers were nice and warm, as well as the taps to wash your hands, which was nice. Toilet roll and soap both provided. We paid to do the low ropes course with our 3 and 4 year olds in the forest. It was good but you definitely need to go round with them. Half of it was too big/difficult for them, but they enjoyed it none the less. There’s a little cafe And a bar also where you can currently sit outside and eat. We didn’t use them but they looked nice enough. There is a gym and a massage place onsite which presumably you can pay to use if you wish. Overall a lovely stay for the weekend, would highly recommend!
This was our only camping trip of the season and glad we came. Friendly owners and a nice vibe from neighbours. We had grass pitch with electrical hook up and fresh water tap very close. There were quite a few groups and this is made clear in the description that groups were excepted. Music was playing until the curfew of 11pm at night also as stated so no bother. There were the climbing facilities there as well as bike hire but we didn’t use these. Dogs are allowed, a must for us as well as bring your own or rent fire pits also a tick for us. Cirencester is nearby with Tesco and Aldi and also a Beefeater and McDonalds (about 9 miles). We visited Bibury with it’s beautiful listed cottages and had a walk around the trout farm. We also visited Bourton on the water with it’s shallow river, with low bridges and lots of eatery and gift shops. The 1 hour 45 min drive from South Wales made this a perfect weekend getaway.
Although very busy when we arrived, all facilities were very clean and kept that way throughout! Lovely washing up area, hot water in the showers. The bar area was nice and the pizza van was a lovely touch. We really enjoyed our stay, lots for kids to do and explore and staff were all very friendly, it was our first camping experience and they couldn’t have been more helpful. Although I don’t have much to compare it too, I was expecting much worse and was pleasantly surprised. There is a lot to see and so in the local area so this is a great base for lots of attractions. We will definitely be returning!
We stayed in the Glade - which we absolutely loved! Felt like being back with nature - no cars. The tent pitches were really spaced out - there was loads of space for the kids to run around and a cute little woodland around the perimeter of the Glade which was great for the kids to explore! The fasciitis were regularly cleaned which really put our minds at ease - as this is our first outing since the Covid-19 pandemic began. Staff were super friendly and helped us in our hour of need - we forgot our tent pegs!!! Overall we had a great stay and would definitely come back!
Good first experience , basic camp
We had a nice 2 nights stay at Far Peak. Our pitch was at the Glades, which we were very happy with as it felt safe with the children and there were no noisy groups. There were 3 showers and 4 toilets in the Glades but people from the main camp used it as well as it was closer than the other ones. It was good to have a hot shower but the whole area could do with some TLC. One of the showers was broken which got reported and staff quickly tried to fix it but it broke again. Staff on site were very helpful and friendly. The road noise didn’t bother us but this would have been a different story on the other side of the site. It is a good base to explore the area. We would return here again.
Great site, perfect location, warm and welcoming.
We have recently spent 3 days at Far Peak and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a last minute booking and we arrived fairly late but the owner was there to welcome us and we got a great spot even though we were the last ones in! Given the current safety measures, we were really happy with how the site was protecting its visitors. Toilet and washing facilities were very clean and the showers were very roomy and plenty of hot water! There was so much to do for the children but unfortunately we were unable to access them as we had not pre-booked - we are planning another visit so we can take full advantage of the Far peak climbing centre and surrounding activities. There is the cafe/deli which has a great outside terrace which would have been great in the sun...... we didn't make use of it as the weather was too awful! The site is in a really beautiful part of the Cotswolds and so perfect location for exploring; Bourton on the Water and Stow on the Wold are both within 10 mins and are stunning villages that are definitely worth visiting. We took a stunning walk around Sherbourne National Trust Park which was brilliant for the children. They made dens in the woods and went on the hunt for the carved animals. We also took our puppy and were made to feel very welcome bringing pets..... plenty of space for them to enjoy as well x
Everything we needed
Would recommend choosing the Glade field as it feels much more secluded and away from the busy road. It was a lovely area to camp in, very peaceful and luckily our neighbors were very quiet too. Toilet and showers were great (one was broken tho), hot water was a blessing! Saw a lot of reviews saying the “automatic” lights don’t work but they do, you just have to press them they aren’t automatic...We did a 2-hour rock climbing/bouldering on-site, facilities are fairly small but we had lots of fun. Walk to Northleach through a field, quite a small village but the Wheatsheaf Inn is huge, lots of tables outside so we didn’t need to book. But make sure you book for things like hiring a bike, or other attractions like the Roman villa - we didn’t book far enough in advance so weren’t able to do things like this.
Very family friendly place. Shepards hut more spacious than expected. Very friendly staff. Cafe and bar on site.
Nice but not amazing, in need of some TLC
We had an ok weekend camping. We had a pitch in the Glade which was a nice area and we weren't disturbed by road noise (could see this being an issue with the other fields). The overall feel of the campsite is that it's a bit rough around the edges and could do with some TLC, e.g. toilet and shower lights not working. The toilet, washing and shower facilities are limited and it felt like a lot of people were sharing the same facilities during these Covid times with limited cleaning. The car parking area by the reception is a but rough and ready and we thought that the person going around on the quad bike delivering logs, etc to others was going a bit quickly, considering the number of small children around the site playing. We would have also liked to have a map showing the layout of the campsite and showing the local walking/cycling routes - even a board at the reception with this would have been useful. It's disappointing that the owners/management do not enforce the 11pm quiet policy - we were kept awake by a noisy group both nights. Pros' - It's nice being able to get a proper coffee in the mornings and there are lots of lovely cotswold towns/villages with nice pubs to visit nearby. We would think twice about returning as have been to plenty of other campsites which are better than this one.
A mixed bag. It is a fairly large site. As we drove in I felt disappointed as it looked more like a holiday park with no character. But luckily we were put in the Glade field which was mostly young families, was car free and had some lovely areas for the children to play. The cafe is a nice idea although their coffee was pretty dreadful and they didn’t have a great selection for breakfast. A few planters could brighten it up as it was a bit like sitting on an industrial estate... Fine as we cook our own food anyway and there are plenty of nice cafes nearby but if they could improve this it would be great. The other downside was that there were a lot of noisy campers in the next field playing music late at night, plus the road is very noisy. So in summary if you are going with children or want something quieter ask for the glade field and remember to take your own coffee!!
Good But Expensive
This was our first ever camping trip as a family. Could not fault the campsite. Clean and covid guidelines met! Very disappointed with the low ropes ... £25 for 1 hour. 😮 wow! As we were there of course we had to pay. But £25 this also included a walk around the wooded area with also took 2 mins. Was such a shame as read this to be £3 all day originally
Good Campsite. Expensive To Climb
Our first ever camping trip as a family. Can not fault the site . Clean. Even the toilets and showers were spotless. Only thing I could fault was how expensive the low ropes were. £25 for 1 hour. Wow 😮. We had previously read this was £3 for all day. Low ropes wasn’t great to be charging £25 also this was including a walk around the woods within the 1hour time slot. Wouldn’t call it a wooded area personally. Just felt this should had been within the price of camping or remaining £3 all day would been reasonable.
Perfect family time
Upon arrival we were greeted by a welcoming smile, a nice chat and some lollipops for the children. We were shown to our spot and we quickly set up our tent. We were advised which toilet/shower block to use, In regards to covid we have to be extra careful. There was plenty of hand gel, antibacterial spray and warm water. The site is well equipped to ensure safety from germs! Our pitch was large and we were sited next to our family members, which was a great touch! The food on site was excellent, the curfew was kept to and overall we had a fantastic time! I would recommend this site to many. It is not far from shops, a lake, a zoo! A car museum and model village. It was a great get away!
Fantastic Family Camping Trip
We arrived home yesterday following a short week of camping at Far Peak. Despite being washed out on the Wednesday, we had the most fantastic time on site. The pitch offered lots of space to play family games & enjoy camping without feeling over crowded. The facilities where great, hot showers where a definite bonus! Care and attention where taken with the new guidelines for COVID which left us feeling safe and able to enjoy our trip without worry. The location was also great, we nipped to a few towns in the cotswolds and enjoyed a lovely 8 miles walk to the knight stone Circle which was a lovely day out. Great trip & would definitley visit again!
Clean site and friendly atmosphere
I booked two nights for a last minute trip, the booking process was easy and was pleasantly surprised to see such an organised set up on arrival. Any Covid worries were forgotten about, with the number system for showers and toilets with hand santiser and spray everywhere. The staff were friendly and overall a really enjoyable experience and great place to stay with the perk of a cafe and bar too!
Fair but not perfect
We stayed here at the start of August. Booking a pitch was very easy and the owner was very obliging when I asked to extend our stay from 3 to 5 nights a week before we arrived. The site itself is very beautiful and the pitches are well spaced. The owner was constantly driving around checking that all was okay and dropping off bits and pieces that people had asked for. At nighttime the site was quiet and on the one night that some campers decided to play dance music at full blast, it was dealt with quickly. So why did we decide to cut our holiday short by a night? The same reason that we were going to cut it short by two nights. Firstly, the site details do not explain that children can only access the playground at the moment if they pay to do an activity at the outdoor activities centre, which is fully booked for the activities still running. One of the reasons that we chose the site was because of the activities offered (archery particularly), but the majority of these activities were closed - why did the website not explain this? We paid £25 to do “low ropes” as it was the only thing available. The low ropes course is old and elements of it are broken. It took my children less than a minute to do the parts that could be used. Another reason is that the field that we were in is right next to a main road and the road noise is excruciatingly loud - there also appeared to be overnight road works going on - but even the general road noise meant that the whole family was exhausted after the first and each remaining night. Thirdly, the Automatic lights did not work in the toilet block which meant very dark night time visits with no hope of trying to disinfect it afterwards. Other small things: the prices at the “cafe”, incorrect information about the take away van being there on our first night (it wasn’t”) and an overflowing dumpster made us unhappy with our stay. It could have been great - but it wasn’t.
Quiet and relaxing
We were so lucky when we went as it was mid week and so quiet, The campsite had social distancing measures in place and signs dotted about wash rooms to remind campers. Has good cycle trails and lots on campsite to do. The bar wasnt open till 5 though, shame it wasnt open at lunch time , The facilities were regularly cleaned too which was nice to see. Recommended but maybe next time I'll try for a different field as it was noisy near the road where we were. Great pubs nearby for eating out (Seven Tunns Inn) and Bourton on the Water is a great place to visit.
great place run by great people
we arrived for a two day stay and asked if we could stay longer - the team on site were really accommodating of this and managed to work it so we could do this. the site is fantastic with lots to see and do - social distancing is in place and works really well too. We had a pitch with power hook up and rented a fire pit with logs, Hot air balloons arrived, set up and drifted off into the dusk on our first night - the kids loved it! the onsite bar and cafe worked out great for us too. We spoke to other campers who were on their second and third trips too - What a great time we had and we will definitely be one of those who are going back - so maybe you will read this - visit and see us there on our second trip ! - well recommended.
Super friendly owners/staff
Far peak is a lovely big site with large pitches. We had a great time and the owners/staff were always super friendly and helpful. The bar and cafe area is super cool and a lovely option for food and drinks on the weekend. There were only a few down sides. It says there is a children’s playground on site but you can only access it if you pay £20 for your family to do the low ropes course. I’m guessing this is due to covid? However it really limited the amount of things to keep the kids busy and meant that in 5 days, the kids only had an hour to play there. The site is dog friendly but there isn’t a dog field or exercise area for your dog which would be really handy if like my dog, they need to be off lead to ‘go’. Despite the toilet/shower blocks being super basic, it’s all clean and the shower is powerful and lots of hot water which is great. There is quite a lot of road noise from the electric hook up pitches as it backs on to a main road but you stop noticing so much after a while. Great pubs within easy walking distance and very good location to explore the area. We would go back.
Extremely friendly helpful staff, Claire was exceptionally kind and understanding when we had to make last minute changes. Campsite was clean well maintained and a pleasure to stay there. Definitely recommend we will be going back.
First family camping trip!
We stayed in the glade and the pitches are a great size and well spaced out. The shower and toilet facilities were really clean with loads of hand sanitizer and bacterial sprays available. Check out the food van, but get there in good time as she sold out every night we were there! Hosts were super friendly and checked in a couple of time to see if we needed anything. If the kids want to use the climbing wall ect, I would suggest booking prior to your stay as the pandemic means reduced numbers. There is a not finished feel to the site but that means it will only get better in time. We would definitely stay again.
Fantastic few days away!
Fantastic friendly site, enforcing social distancing and super hygiene practice in place. Would highly recommend and will defiantly be going back we had the best time thank you!
Fab time for a first time camper
booked last minute with my boys and our friends booked also! I've never been camping before, but the site was perfect, the staff were welcoming and helpful, and the location just spot on!! Was a bit disappointed we couldn't do the wall climbing or ropes as no availability but I guess that was our fault for not booking in advance just didnt think we needed to! Guess will know for next time! We had the perfect weather which made the trip a better first time experience but I would honestly come again, really enjoyed the experience and the campsite thankyiu for a lovely time! My boys said it was the best place they'd ever been!!!
Family first holiday in a tent
Bring my mum and twins was always going to be a challenge with two tents that i have never used before. Used to a caravan with its luxuries this was definitely going to be different. The site was exceptionally clean. this was such a great surprise. The staff went out of there way to help and make our stay the best. Even the social distancing was not a problem for Far Peak. We will definitely be returning and using the climbing wall (requires booking in advance).
Fantastic 3 day break with the kids
We were allocated the most amazing spot in The Glade, which has no electric hook up - perfect for going semi off-grid. There were families around us, but within a very comfortable distance. There was so much fro the kids to do - finding the tree house and rope swing was their highlight. We booked a family session on the climbing wall and low ropes, which was super fun. We also hired bikes from site - which made our trip into Northleach for Sunday Lunch, a lovely treat. Top tip - if you have little ones (Ours are 7 & 8), hire the electric bikes and then tow the kids up the hill. Social distancing wasn't an issue at all - we were given designated showers and toilets which everyone respected, and the staff kept them well stocked and regularly cleaned. We all highly recommend the site.
Clean and Friendly
The owners and staff were very friendly and helpful. The place was spotless, the toilets and showers were immaculate with plenty of hot water. We went during August 2020 so they were operating at reduced capacity so we had ample space. We did not have a meal onsite but we did buy snacks and beer which was a joy to consume from the roof terrace.
Friendly, relaxed and clear
Greeted by lovely staff and allocated a spacious pitch in the glade. Super clean facilities which was very reassuring given the current situation. The bar and cafe with a roof top terrace was a great addition to this campsite and very helpful staff who were always able to give suggestions of what there is to do locally. Overall a lovely stay and I would happily come back again.
Great, clean and organised
We were a little apprehensive about camping after lockdown. We were give an allocated toilet and shower to use which most people abided by. These facilities were always clean and had antibac to spray before and after use. The pitches were big and other campers well spaced out. This also allows the children to freely play without disturbing anyone. We reported a broken lightbulb which was dealt with immediately. I absolutely love this place and would definitely recommend and be returning soon.
Lovely family stay
We stayed in the shepherds hut, really lovely and friendly campsite staff. Well spaced out from others and the right level of privacy. Campsite staff were helpful and accomodating. Facilities were clean. Really enjoyed staying and hoping to return.
Site well catered for, Road Very noisy.
The site is lovely, staff friendly and helpful. Pitches are large and easy to distance from Neighbours. Only let down was the road was very close by, very busy day and all night.
Good, clean, fun.
Enjoyable two nights. Midweek so plenty of space, we arrived Sunday to see everyone leaving us a nice empty campsite. Perfect!
Great facilities, fun times
Weve just returned from 4 nights camping at far peak and loved it! Lovely bar and cafe, great clean facilities. They are handling covid really well without being intrusive. My only complaint is that the tents are too close together. More room please!
Lovely site, but too noisy for our young family
Far Peak is an immaculately kept campsite and the measures they have put in place around COVID are very reassuring. The toilets and showers couldn't have been cleaner. The site is very well maintained, and we had a spacious pitch and friendly welcome. The climbing centre is a real bonus and we really enjoyed our sessions there. Northleach is a very pleasant walk away and the Hayloft cafe was also handy. However, curfew was not observed by other campers and the combination of noise until 1am and a busy main road adjacent to the field made for a really poor night's sleep which really took the shine of what otherwise would have been a lovely weekend break. I'm sure it would be a great site for a sociable weekend with friends and older children.
Lovely man that checked u in check everything was ok. Site is good location and lovely walk to Nothleach. Toilets clean well organised
Relaxed and welcoming
Set in rolling fields, this a lovely relaxed campsite. The owner/ manager was very welcoming and made an effort to allocate pitches to suit different groups(we were tucked in a quiet slot away from big family groups). Showers and loos are decent and clean. Fire pits were delivered to tent and even gave us extra firelighters go the second night.
Relax and fun 😃
Far Peak Camping is very friendly for children. Very clean toilets and showers. Safety place and the best Staff... We will come back... 😃👍
We stayed mid-July 2020 and the campsite had put in lots of steps to keep everyone safe especially around toilet and shower areas. The bar and takeaway both very useful. We stayed in a dome and were really wowed by how private it felt. North Leach is the closest village and also has a take away and shop which came in handy. We ate at the Wheatsheaf Inn in North Leach which has excellent outside dining. Overall a very enjoyable stay!
Perfect for a few days away, friendly , clean and well organised. The only negative would be price, we paid £75 for 2 nights. We had a wv camper and an awning so no different to a car and tent , oh and a dog(which was fine to pay extra) not sure why the extra £20 a night was needed for awning.
A brilliant relaxed campsite
We arrived on Sunday 12th July for four nights. We were met by Gary who was very friendly and informative. Had a huge pitch with open views. Loved the relaxed feel to the campsite and never heard any noise at all. We didn’t use the facilities as had our own on board facilities which preferred to use at the current time. Gary drove around in the evening offering fire pits and checking everyone was ok which was a lovely thing to do. Good walking and quiet roads for cycling nearby and lovely villages to visit such as Bourton on the Water. I would not hesitate to book this site again hopefully in the near future.
Fantastic campsite with lots to do
We visited Far Peak Campsite from the 10th to 12th of July and had a great weekend. Not only was the weather superb but the campsite was well organised and very clean which was a relief due to the situation with covid 19. The site has lots of facilities available like climbing, bouldering, cafe and bar with roof terrace. Nearby there are plenty of place to visit of interest and to keep the kids entertained. The site manager even restarted my car battery for me when it went flat on the last day. Would highly recommend this place
The Glade made our holiday!
We stayed in a scenic corner of The Glade surrounded by trees and it was perfect for a group of friends. I’d recommend hiring a fire pit to sit around at night and enjoy the stars. The facilities were clean and all worked well. The staff were all friendly, helpful and there when you needed them. There were no negatives about our trip and we will definitely be returning. :)
Lovely friendly campsite
This is the first time we have stayed here and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, the facilities were clean and the camp site is in a lovely location. We hired a fire pit too which was great. We will definitely be back and would certainly recommend.
Not bad... but not great either
We enjoyed our stay at Far Peak, but have stayed in more comfortable campsites. It was pretty noisy. Right next to a busy road and lots of large groups. There was a big group of young teenage boys staying near us playing loud music. Not the place to go if you want peace & quiet. The showers have nowhere to sit so you have to get dressed hopping about on one foot while trying to dry off. No heating in shower block makes it pretty chilly. It's a good location and big pitches on the plus side.
Fabulous time !!!
Far Peak camping site was very clean and tidy staff also very helpful with checking would completely recommend far Peak campsite for families & friends to stay togeather also with hiring the fire pit, look forward to going back soon xx
A superb Tipi experience
In this fun, friendly & family run campsite we had a blast! My family of 6 stayed in one of the pre-pitched tipis and over the weekend we explored the wild woods; sampled the simply silky smoothies at the climbing centre café and collapsed happy under the stars next to our own fire pit. The showers, loos, washing up facilities and freezer for freezer blocks were all up to scratch even though it was a busy, busy bank holiday weekend. See you again soon!
Amazing September break
Stayed at far Peak fri-mon at the start of September. Very lucky with the weather. Lovely addition to be able to use fire pits.. which was great fun in the evenings. Well kept site, helpful staff. Clean well maintained washing, shower and toilet facilities. Location perfect for exploring the Cotswold countryside and nearby towns. Would definately go back!
Very well set up, plenty of space for our group! We enjoyed having the Hayloft for a couple of drinks and the park area was great for the kids. We used the cycle hire which was also good quality and very helpful staff. Freezer for ice packs which was super useful on the beautiful August bank holiday weather! The shower/toilet block was nice and clean as was the washing up area but very busy and could do with a few more but certainly not a game changer! Would stay again 😃
I have stayed at this campsite twice this year and I love it. I went with children in tow and without children in tow and it caters for everyone. It has stunning surroundings and makes you feel you could be anywhere. Great facilities. Will be going back again.
Spacious field, hot showers and clean bathrooms. What more do you want!?
Plenty of space
Spacious camping field. Nice showers, toilets and wash area - we didn't have to queue during our stay. The water for washing up always seemed to be tepid which was a shame. We were quite bothered by wasps on one of the days. It was great to be close to the climbing centre and their handy café.
Nice camp site - toddler friendly
First time staying at this site and selected based on the locality to some of the areas we wished to see so was pleasantly surprised by the amenities on site, which include a small shop, café, play area, and rope course. Our son had a great time running around the ample space and saying hello to the cat and horse each morning. Washing facilities ideal, including toilets, showers and sink area. Plenty of space to play in, will recommend.
Perfect Campground for our Family
We spent a week end in the Cotswolds, and Far Peak was the perfect campground for us - a family with two young children aged 6YO and 19MO. We enjoyed the natural setting of the Glade, and loved that there are a café/restaurant, playground, and climbing centre on-site. The facilities were clean and well-maintained, despite being a very busy summer time. We will camp there again for sure next time we visit the Cotswolds.
Great family campsite
Our first family camping trip at Far Peak was lovely. Well run, tidy site, ideal for families. We stayed in the main area which had lots of space and good shower and toilet facilities. We paid a little extra for a fire pit which was brought to our plot with firewood and kindling. The site has a well catered cafe and shop for nibbles and drinks, as well as a rooftop bar. There’s also a great climbing centre. Northleach village is a 5 min drive away if you want to pick up some provisions from the convenience store or a 30-45 minute walk. Bourton-on-the-water and Stow-on-the-wold are also a short drive away. Big shout out to the campsite crew, especially Darren, the friendly steward (thanks for the tip to check out Bidbury). Hope to visit again.
Beautiful well equipped park
Great facilities here, friendly staff, good location. The atmosphere at the park was really nice and I felt very free to explore and enjoy the park with my friends and young son. Fire pits make an excellent end to a busy day.
Great place for camping with a group of friends
We've been coming to Far Peak for the last 4 years or so with our kids and various other groups of friends so I thought it was about time to leave a review! We were there last weekend and will be back again this weekend and one other in early July so we are definite fans of this site. We love the space on the main fields, even when busy it never feels jam packed and there's always space for the kids to run around. As mentioned we generally visit in largish groups with children ranging in ages from 1 to 18 and all ages in between. The site always feels safe enough for us to let even the younger ones off the leash a little bit. There have been a few reviews I noted that mark down the toilet and shower facilities, I would say that they are indeed basic but they are clean and well lit. I have to admit I've never used the showers (they allow fire pits so the smell of woodsmoke covers up most bad odours!) but the hot water can run out in the washing up area when everyone uses the sinks at the same time - the management does point out that hot water tanks do not have an endless supply though and again, never really bothered me or the people we've camped with. The wooded area, low ropes and new play area are a hit with the kids and the climbing centre is great too. Its definitely NOT a caravan club style site with hard standing pitches. mowed fields and loads of other caravanners, head elsewhere if this is you bag! If you want a chilled out site with lots of room for children to play in safety then this is the place for you.
Nice spot...shame about the neighbours!
Nice place to camp....climbing wall was excellent and Darren is a great host. Could do with a small shop or even better collaboration with one of the local farms for produce??!! Only reason it wasn't 5stars is because we were adjacent to a bunch of absolutely tools!.....noisy & obnoxious with terrible kids....not the sites fault, but just venting!!
Awful!!! Not the family holiday we planned
I will start with the campsite review, rather than the horrific night we had to accommodate with 300 bikers!! As other reviews, there is not a shop on site for simple grocery requirements, you are lucky if there is some milk left. Toilet block is very basic, cleaning could be improved as when you look up, all i could see was cobwebs. the shower cubicles got further damaged following the bikers brining in the bikes for repair 50% of the time we struggled to get hot water to shower in. 100% there was never hot water at the sinks or to wash dishes in, had to resort to boiling kettle. location, next to A road, so don't go if you want a nice quiet setting, the road noise is constant through the night. we were very unlucky the week we went, the manager/owners had decided to accept a party of bikers from Holland, approx 300 in the same field we were staying in. They had managed to clear most campers out apart from 4 family tents. The bikers gathered over a long period, so there was constant engine noise and the fumes where terrible, you could not eat outside. we were unable to use the toilet block, as it had bikes parked inside for the light. we, and the other families, would not let our children out of our sight. we were directed to another toilet block, however it didn't take long before the bikers found this one too. the manager was not apologetic and said 'well they are just campers, just 300 single tents, whats the problem'. some bikers, were riding around the field at 11pm, potentially under the influence of alcohol as the camp site operated a 'pop up beer bar', this was extremely dangerous as they could have drove into family tents. at 6am the following morning, the engines started again as they departed the site, the noise was horrific, for 3 hours we had to endure this noise as the last one left the site, my hearing still has not recovered. i can't believe that the Management thought this was okay, they never informed us that this was going to happen and give us a choice not to come or leave early. it was handled extremely badly, the other families i spoke to were also upset by the experience. there are plenty of other campsites in the area, so advise to look at them. if you want to go for the climbing wall or low ropes, then visit for the day... at least then you can retreat back to a quiet, clean campsite on the evening
Relaxed, spacious site with ability to have firepit
Camped with family for two nights on a basic no electric pitch. The main field is sloped but with a good area that is level enough. Pitches with electricity are by the hedges and the top hedge shelters from wind, which was surprisingly strong for August. Plenty of space for kids to run round and climbing centre gives a great no travel activity though you should book in advance. The café makes things easy for a morning sausage bap/batch and was well priced. Pizza available in a yurt on weekend evenings looks good but adds up quickly for a family of four. Had a great time camping and would go again. Only downside is toilet/shower block is a little basic with showers onto a concrete floor and door straight out onto field. Water hot in shower but lukewarm in the mixed sex basin area. Not enough to put us off but this is always going to be a two night pitch for us, not anything longer.
First Time Success
This was our first camping trip as family of five (plus dog). Far Peak was an ideal choice with the climbing centre, cycle hire and cafe on the site. The site has a very relaxed feel and we liked the fact that you could choose where you pitch your tent when you arrive as this allowed us the space we needed to figure out our setup. We also enjoyed our nightly campfires (all the necessary equipment is on sale at the site) which made for a lovely end to the day. The communal facilities were always clean and in good working order and the staff are very helpful (including jump starting our car one morning!). The children enjoyed their visits to the climbing centre including for one of the organised sessions. With some of The Cotswold's finest attractions nearby you won't be stuck for a day out either. For us, we couldn't have chosen better for our first time.
Great outdoor freedom and fun facilities
Staff were very helpful and relaxed straight away from our arrival. They leant us an extension as ours wasn’t long enough for the electric hook up. They also came and did regular checks on the quad to check everyone was ok! Very good in the extreme heat! The climbing centre on site were also very good had very helpful staff all 3 children loved the bouldering and the climbing walls this was well priced and the free low ropes were great! The showers and toilets were good and clean a few may benefit from newer locks but this may be a problem only due to the extreme heat making a few difficult to lock?? although hot water to washing up was often lacking the area was good and even a freezer for ice packs was very useful! Massive bonus and can’t believe we haven’t seen anything about this in any brochure! Was that they set off hot air ballon flights from the field our tent was pitched in!!! It was an amazing sight! The kids got so closed and could watch the whole process! Lots of local attractions in easy reach also The Roman villla - bourton on the water- Cotswolds farm park- and the water park Sherborne ...... we also drove home via oxford a beautiful city!
Fantastic Experience - perfect bank holiday weekend
My partner and I booked a basic grass pitch at Far Peak Camping for the bank holiday weekend. We are a young couple who were looking to explore the surrounding Cotswolds countryside, and so used Far Peak as our base for the 3 days. Fantastic quality pitches, lots of space, good quality/clean showers and toilet facilities. Lovely atmosphere in camp; mix of young families, friends and couples. Fire pit was great although the wood was a little damp so difficult to get the fire going! I loved the little café for coffee/breakfast in the morning. Overall, good experience.
Nice and tranquil site with excellent facilities
Huge site with good facilites. Nice and peaceful too. Great shop and the climbing wall looked fun. Well positioned for lots of local activities:- Good local walking, couple of National Trust places nearby (Roman Villa and Lodge Park & Sherbourne Estate) and close to Bourton on the Water and Stow on the Wold. Would recommend and will return
