Camping and glamping in the heart of the Cotswolds with an incredible onsite climbing and activities centre

Sometimes with camping, you have to make your own fun. Not so at Far Peak. Set in 25 stunning acres just off the Fosse Way, this is a true outdoor adventurist's retreat thanks to its onsite climbing and activities centre. As if the multitude of stunning walks provided by the surrounding Cotswolds wasn't enough, Far Peak offers a whole host of high-up activities including a range of indoor and outdoor climbs for all ages and abilities, all centred around the 15-metre woodland tower (the view from the top really hammers home why this region is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty). There is a playground and low rope courses for little ones (five years and up), and if you don't have a head for heights, archery, bushcraft, nature trails and orienteering can all be enjoyed strictly on the old terra firma.

With such a wealth of onsite fun, you could be forgiven for thinking the camping at Far Peak was an afterthought. Wrong. Over 100 un-regimented grass camping pitches are spread across two vast fields, with ample space for family-sized tents and plenty of room for games. Flat ground and a scattering of electric hook-ups mean its campervan-friendly and, because the site sits atop a chalky wold, drainage is excellent. An car-free adjacent field, known as The Glade, is ideal for families – wheelbarrows are kindly provided so you can trundle your gear to camp from the car park. It's this tranquil, refreshingly understated spot that also hosts the trio of luxury glamping domes. Each geo-dome comes complete with king-sized bed, wood-fired stove, outdoor dining set and BBQ on a spacious sundeck.

Facilities-wise, the twin amenities blocks in either field offer more than adequate ablutions with hot showers provided, while the domes have their own private en-suite eco washrooms. Best of all, the onsite Hayloft Café opens daily, providing campers not just with a varied menu of hearty homecooked grub and sweet treats (including the most gloriously glutinous milkshakes this side of Graceland), but also a welcoming setting to chill and rest those weary fingers after a day's clambering.

The best of the Cotswolds is eminently reachable from this prime location just outside the quiet market town of Northleach. Bike hire is provided on site so just pick a direction and get pedalling – there's innumerable lovely trails to enjoy. Quintessential chocolate box towns like Cirencester ('the capital of the Cotswolds') and Bourton on the Water ('the Venice of the Cotswolds') are all within reach, not to mention that most important of ingredients, a cracking pub within walking distance. All in all, as much of a bonus as the activities are at Far Peak, it really doesn't matter if you don't partake in anything more strenuous than a trip to that pub. Simply put, this is a stunning destination in itself, slap bang in the heart of the Cotswolds.

Disappointed

It was a shame that the hot water didn’t work in the closest block to the electric pitch up. We had to shower in another block much further away. I was kept up until 2am with very loud music elsewhere on the site. Although the campsite states to be quiet after 11 there is obviously no one to police this. Not sure I’d be in a rush to return.

Great stay for a group

Me and 2 other couples who are all friends from university decided to stay here for a catch up as a great location between all 3. We had a great stay on site, easy check in and lovely site with great amenities. Had breakfast on the Saturday morning which was some nice waffles and coffee. Great services on site enough toilets, washing facilities and showers for all. Great tourist spots near by must try out the Roman villa and some lovely walks. Would 100% recommend.

Lovely bank holiday break

The site was lovely and the activities on site were brilliant for the kids. Nice to visit the various food vendors there too. It would be nice to see a few more bathrooms as 1 was out of order when we visited and there was no hot water in our block of washing up facilities. We were able to use the other block though. We will be visiting again soon

Wonderful stay in a great site

The welcome was fabulous, the facilities clean and plenty although a long trek away if your staying at the top field as we were! Spaced out pitches and a lovely feel to the site. You can hear the noise from the main road though all night. Climbing centre, cafe and bar was fabulous and visited every day. Had a wonderful time.

Great place to stay

Stayed here between 23-27th August. Lovely and quiet place to stay. Toilets and showers nice and clean. Beautiful places to visit. If your looking for somewhere to stay that’s not over packed then this is your place. We had a great few days camping here.

Great family campsite

Far Peak was the first campsite we have stayed that is not by the sea or a swimming pool - it was great! the kids were entertained everyday with the climbing walls and caving. Our kids were 15, 9 and 8 years so it was good for them but I think it may not appeal so much to 5yrs and younger. The park next to the bar/cafe is a good add on too. A very tidy campsite - saw staff litter picking every day. The toilet /shower block was regularly cleaned. Reception was small but very well stocked with essentials - shampoo, crisps, milk, water, ice etc. There is also a chest freezer to store your ice packs, although this was very full. Everyone was very friendly and the instructors at the climbing centre were great with the kids. If you fancy a day trip out Bourton on the Water is great and Bibury is beautiful.

Lovely Site in a lovely area

Fantastic site with a great atmosphere, we came as a large group and were able to stay together in a lovely setting. Two families from the group stayed in the Shepherds huts and we would highly recommend them for up to three people. We would have preferred more washing up facilities and toilets and felt that £5 for the low ropes was a little much, however this did not detract from our experience. We would definitely return to the site and have already recommended it to others.

Lovely Cotswolds Hideaway

We were a group of three families staying over a "variable" weather weekend and all left thinking that this place is great: the cafe, the climbing centre and the setting all ideal for family fun. The hosts are super friendly and helpful. Will definitely be going back.

Lovely campsite with lots to do and explore

We really enjoyed our stay at Far Peak. Having a cafe and bar on site is great and the food shack seemed really popular too. We enjoyed having enough space for our tent and despite it being a busy weekend, it was still really relaxing and quiet. The site is well maintained and staff were always really friendly and helpful. There were plenty of toilets and showers. I would have preferred having a bit more space in the shower to put dry clothes etc and also a basin for brushing teeth as the basins are all shared, but this didn’t detract from our camping experience. There are many lovely places to explore in the area and the Cotswolds is beautiful. The kids really enjoyed the climbing and it was great having this on site.

OK, but rather pricey - better for big groups and short visits

I think this site is perfect for large groups as there is plenty of space to spread out. The site staff were lovely and friendly and check in was very simple. Unfortunately my family (3 kids 9, 11 and 14) all found the site rather lacking. It feels a bit like a building site, and clearly development is still going on. Apart from the very impressive outdoor climbing tower, the adjacent climbing centre was uninspiring and charged a frankly extortionate £5 per child for a 'low ropes course' which was only playground size and - frankly - should have been free for all. The onsite bar was good and the Caribbean food pop up was tasty but hopelessly overpriced. With no dedicated area for kids to play ball etc, you were very limited to how busy your surrounding area was as to whether they could have a kick about safely - this was particularly dicey at times when people had firepits going. The shower and toilet facilities were little more than basic, although there was plentiful hot water. Again, just about bearable for a night or two, but nothing more. Unfortunately I did not see evidence of a single cleaner the entire time I was there (disenfectant pumps were abundant with a suggestion to 'clean as you go'). The washing up section was particularly grim on Friday evening. There was a small onsite shop open 8 to 8 for emergencies, which was handy, but again it was terrifically overpriced. We paid £1.50 for a tiny bag of cheap pasta, which must have been about 40p in a supermarket. Finally (as many other people have noted) part of the site backs on to a busy A road - luckily we were elsewhere but it must have been incredibly noisy if you were there. Overall, the place is going for a festival vibe - and it does get there somewhat, but it's a rather mediocre one.

Well organised site and most helpful staff !

Weather wasn’t great but the site more than made up for it . Well laid out with plenty of space for the children to play and charge around on their bikes . Much fun had . Staff were more than helpful and couldn’t do enough for you . Children really enjoyed the climbing wall and the low ropes . Noise from the road was evident as others have mentioned but to be fair the rain was louder ! Pizza night went down a treat !

Excellent

Darren and his staff gave a warm friendly welcome. On site activities mean everyone can be kept entertained. We had EHU in the paddock field. Nice and quiet but be careful when you set up 25m hook up cable doesn’t go very far and only one hook up point. Toilets and showers were very clean. Local area walking routes and northleach has everything you need that you can’t fit in the car.

Did the job but lacking in facilities

The location in the Cotswolds is great and lots of days out can be easily reached by car. This would be a good option for a group for a couple of nights as there is space and it was family groups so no drunken issues. As a family for a week we wouldn't recommend, we found we regularly had to queue for the toilets and showers with upwards of 8 people ahead of us at times over the weekend. Not always the cleanest facilities either. We paid the extra for a larger pitch but actually didn't need to as pitches are not marked. I didn't feel it was value for money compared to other sites we have stayed at and expected more from Cool camping.

Excellent family camping experience

Loved by all the family, loads to do on site for little ones and the nearby area after a short drive. Clean toilet and shower blocks. Bar on site with pop up kitchen with different food to order in the evenings. Low ropes course( for small fee) , traversing climbing castle ( for small fee)and adventure playground on site. Very handy on-site shop with essentials. Would highly recommend. Even got some star gazing in as very little light pollution.

Lovely place. Great hosts

We had a great time in this campsite. The place is gorgeous, very well kept, very clean facilities, nice amenities, and the near town Northleach is stunning. The hosts were delightful. They could not do enough for us, even though the place was busy, it didn't feel like it. I really appreciated the fact that they placed us in a pitch with no children. Thumbs up for that!!!!! The only reason I gave it a 4 star instead of 5 is because the pitch we were in was very near a road and I could hear the traffic. while I was trying to get away from the city traffic. However, that did not hinder our enjoyment. At night the road was quiet, and we really enjoyed the fire pit. I will definitely go back!

Fantastic camping experience

We used to be regular visitors to Far Peak climbing but this was our first camping trip to the site. We were pleasantly surprised in lots of ways - the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, our pitch was well serviced and quiet, and there was so much to do on site that the kids were out and about nearly all of the time. We loved the extended low ropes area and the new outdoor bouldering area, and the clinging centre staff were as professional as ever. A busy and fun stay, despite some terrible weather - thank you for having us

Lovely campsite and great facilities

The camp site was really great for us and the kids. Very friendly and helpful staff, activities for the kids to do (free and paid) plus the nice additions of cafe etc. It was lovely to be able to have firepits and bbqs unlike many other places The toilets and showers are basic (but at that price it's great) but were clean and never busy. Would highly recommend and will likely go again

Great staff, great location, great facilities

We spent 5 nights at Far Peak last week, and were incredibly impressed. Lots of freedom for the kids, the climbing centre was brilliant fun, and the staff were so good to the kids - really looked after our son who has some special needs. It's a great location, close to Bourton on the Water and a walk away from the much less touristy (but still lovely) Northleach. Highly recommended.

Incredible experience

We stayed in the Tipi so it was more glamping than camping, but the whole stay was okay excellent from start to finish. The area is beautiful, the staff were lovely and the tipi was big and had the extra bonus of coming with a table, bench and fire pit. The facilities were clean and the showers worked better than other campsites I’ve been in. We were 4 adults sharing the Tipi and there was more than enough room. It was nice to have a cafe on site, but the drinks wernt very cold and there wasn’t a toaster to toast the toasties which was a bit odd! We also rented bikes and the activity centre staff were super helpful and kind. I am already looking to book again in august!! Loved it.

Wonderful setting, lovely scenery and good facilities.

I've stayed three times in the last year, all good . Most recently last week with my wife, daughter and labrador. Usual camping needs well met with flat pitches and acceptably clean washblocks . Queues not a problem most of the day. Lovely small wooded areas onsite not used by tents, so thus good for the dog. Lovely cafe onsite in day with cakes , coffee , simple meals. Switches to bar at night, with really good draught beer, good prices. Sat morning there was a stall serving crepes, wonderful for breakfast. There is a walk through the fields ( about 40 mins) to Northleach, great country walk for dog. There is a park in town with a clean flowing stream, which he loved . Sherborne Arms pub, great main meals ( including veggie, a Mediterranean risotto or 3 bean chili) for a tenner. Decent Budgens food store, so you can can camp without driving much. If you drive , Burton on the Water is brilliant 15 mins away. Campsite staff are very helpful, there is a small essentials store and fire pit hire. All in all, a great camping experience.

A little pricey. Suited for more evening social groups

We stayed here a couple of years ago, this was pre covid so quieter and maybe this is why it wasn't as enjoyable this time. Facilities were damaged/broken, £12 for a bag of 6 logs and 6 pieces of kindling. We had to ask other groups to watch their dogs which were left to roam with no one watching, sports games and karaoke going on gone midnight. There is plenty of space and groups were all spaced out well, and there is s nice little shop if you have forgotten bits. They keep the wheelbarrows for you kit and for the fire pits seperate, which is great. Washing up and hand washing facilities were well stocked and clean and toilets kept topped up with disinfectant. It's a nice site but I think more suited to larger groups.

Lovely peaceful family camping weekend

The site is easy to find, off the main road (A429) between Cirencester and Stow. It’s a collection of decent sized fields, serviced by a toilet and shower block in each. The facilities are frequently cleaned and well maintained. The site is managed by a friendly staff, and has a nice little bar and cafe next to the climbing centre. There is nothing much within walking distance though. It’s a lovely leisurely hour walk across fields to the nearest village, Northleach, where there’s a little shop and a pub/restaurant (the Wheatsheaf, which is lovely but pretty expensive). So one improvement to the campsite could be the food provision. They do have various themed food companies coming in, but the one night we went for pizza they’d run out within 16 minutes of opening. Overall a lovely peaceful weekend in a nice area under a beautiful big sky.

Wonderful first family trip

Far Peak Camping exceeded our expectations for our first family camping trip. Check in was a seamless operation - we were greeted with big smiles and friendly faces, which set the tone for our stay. We were shown to our pitch - an electric hookup one lining a wooden fence separating the two big fields. Loos and showers were in good condition, and two very hardworking and friendly staff were cleaning them throughout the day. This was reassuring during covid restrictions. The Hayloft Cafe and the Old Smokery Bar were welcome additions to our experience - think cold local cider in the sunshine watching the climbing activities whilst the kids cover themselves in ice-cream...even the dog had complimentary biscuits from the cafe! We will definitely be returning to Far Peak - hopefully this summer if it's not already booked! Next time we may try booking the quieter area where cars aren't allowed....the final night it did feel quite busy in the main field....but it was the bank holiday during half term, so absolutely to be expected!! Highly highly recommend this wonderful campsite!

Great family xampsite

Very well run campsite. Lots of space for us when we went with our two family tents. Lots of space to Tudor the children to run around too. Toilet / washing up areas were all cleaned regularly and there was plenty of disinfectant around to clean up after yourselves in covid times. You could hire fire pits to toast your marshmallows on too! The kids loved the climbing day, and we also cycled to north leach with our 4 year old cycling all the way too. Would recommend for a family stay.

Brilliant family or quiet camping holiday!!

Lovely scenic campsite surrounded by fields, very family friendly, staff were friendly and keen to help when needed, free play park and plenty of room for kids to run around, also some paid activities which were fun too. Toilets and showers were cleaned regularly and always fully stocked with toilet roll and disinfectant. Bonus was the power supply free to use to charge my phone. We enjoyed roasting Marshmallows on the fire pit. The shop has a small amount of items like milk, bottled water and bread, would have prefered a bigger or closer shop or petrol station though. This was the first camping holiday I planned for my children and was an excellent experience, in fact we have booked one of the domes for July, as it's more remote and quiet to relax with my husband and children with beautiful views. Would definitely recommend!!

Family friendly mini break

We’ve stayed here lots of times and it’s always fabulous! Great pitches, friendly staff, good showers and toilets, play area and low ropes course for the kids (£5 charge) and on site cafe. They have a low noise policy after 11pm which is great when you have young children. Northleach is a short drive away (5-10 minutes) and has a small Budgens and there are supermarkets in Cirencester and Bourton which are around a 15min drive. We will be back again next year!

Large but cosy...

Our long weekend was well spent at Far Peak. A large site, that felt cosy and welcoming. From checkin to departure, everyone was helpful and friendly (apart from one guy who shouted at me, rather than actually ask if I had paid for the logs!). Our pitches were in a nice spot (electric hook up), with a nice space in front for the kids to play. Dogs welcome too, and ours loved it there. We used it to explore the locally one day, its very close to some stunning Cotswolds villages, and returned to site to enjoy the wood fired pizzas (slightly expensive if I'm honest, and way too long wait - almost 2 hours!). The second day we stayed onsite and the kids really enjoyed the low ropes and the climbing. In fact we all had a go and Marcus our instructor for the hour was brilliant. Joining in and making it fun for us all in our group (6 years to 47 years). The bar was a welcome, as the sun was out and we stayed till heading back to enjoy an open wood fire into the night. Definitely recommend, and I think will just get better as work looked on going to make this a real self contain adventure location. Well done team, we will hope to come back.

Friendly campsite in a beautiful area

Lovely campsite that is very relaxed and has a really friendly team running it. We booked an electric pitch, which there seems to be a huge number of there, but what we liked was that it wasn't in too much of a regimented pitch, as long as your cable could connect you could pitch however you wanted. There is a nice cafe onsite that does a great coffee, a bar, all the climbing facilities from Far Peak Climbing and they also had food onsite in the evening on a friday and saturday night. Pro's - chilled, very welcoming team, climbing/activities, not too big a site, hot plentiful showers, a freezer for your ice blocks, great fields (i mean some campsites, have shoddy, lumpy grass with more dirt than grass, but Far Peak was decent thick grass with hardly any divots or big stones), beautiful starry skies with little light pollution and fire pits Con's - at night you could hear the main road quite a bit, I would have liked there to be pop-up food options every night to take the stress of feeding the kids away, I would also have like there to be more bins around the site Other - no drying facilities for hands (personally this works for me as hands air dry so quickly and so much better for the environment, but I overheard some moaning there wasn't any), the Glade looks stunning and would like to pitch in there one time, I would like there to be a slightly bigger play park - not some crazy multi coloured thing, but just a bit bigger with maybe a slide and extra set of swings From a covid point of view there was plenty of hand sanitizer and disinfectant for facilities so they are definitely doing their bit to keep people safe. I would recommend and visit again!!

Great camping spot

Good facilities, hot showers, bar and pizza. The site is simple but in a good way. Just lots of grassy space and everything you need. Enjoyed that we could use the fire pit and the owner was friendly and accommodating.

Great campsite!

Camped here over the weekend. Great campsite with great, clean facilities. We loved the new bar area and the wood fired pizzas were lovely. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Literally the only thing we'd change is that in the toilet block near the Glade area, there are no hand drying facilities - some paper towels would be great, but that is all! We'll definitely be coming back in the future :)

Really friendly site : Climbing facilities a game changer!

Lovely campsite...which had the some terrific amenities on site....great bar, cafe, crepe van as well as place to hire bikes. The big USP were the climbing / bouldering facilities though. My daughter used them all weekend and loved the auto-belays. Lovely friendly staff throughout too. Shame it is quite so near the main road but that’s didn’t spoil a great weekend. Will be back.

a great base to explore the Cotswolds

Clean tidy and relaxed campsite. Our family had a lovely time on site with great facilities to enjoy. It was a perfect base to explore the countryside and walk for miles or the one of the nearby excellent pubs for lunch. The shower block is basic but clean with plenty of sanitiser. Dogs are allowed which is a bonus. Climbing centre and cafe is a great place to spend time too. We had a great weekend

Farpeak bank holiday

Had a great time and will go back. Had an electrical hookup spot close to water in a large open field. Kids could roam and it was easy to keep and eye on them. The bar, cafe and pizza take away are all nice options and worth trying. The climbing facilities are good, but you need to book in advance for some of them. There is an off-road walk nearby. COVID precautions worked and there was regular cleaning taking place.

Peaceful camping, great facilities

Great stay at far peak. Our little one was too young to use the facilities but will deffo be back to try them out when she’s older. Lovely scenic countryside, peaceful location, nice little cafe and outdoor pizza. Clean toilets and recycling area. Friendly check in staff, lots of space between campers...can’t complain! Friendly staff, lovely location and excellent facilities.

A great location with a nice, relaxed feel to it, in an area of outstanding landscapes, it's a gem! The facilities are excellent for campers and caravans alike. The pizza oven was great, and although we didn't try it this time, the climbing facilities looked excellent. It was a relatively quiet weekend with lots of space for everyone to keep the children amused, particularly the hot-air balloons taking off from the camping field! We will definitely be back in the future!

Lovely weekend away

My partner and I took our dog camping at Far Peak for a long weekend and we all enjoyed it! The facilities were very clean, great bar and cafe! Pizza night was a pleasant surprise. I'd come again, no hesitation. We were fortunate enough to watch a couple of hot air balloons launch from across the field on our second night. There was a little bit of traffic noise from the road, but not enough to cause an issue. It's the price you pay for convenience. The pub recommended to us in Northleach was excellent, The Wheatsheaf, and accommodated our dog. There is enough to do at Far Peak to keep anyone entertained, but it is handy to use as a base to explore the Cotswolds.

Beautiful campsite with really helpful staff and great facilities

Lovely clean site with excellent shower and loo block, the staff couldn’t be friendlier or more helpful, and of course there’s the excellent climbing activities at FarPeak just a few hundred yards walk from where you’re camping. Amazing walks around Bedworth Roman Villa just a few miles away. And the Hayloft cafe offers great coffee and snacks. They weren’t offering food this week so we tried out the Wheatsheaf gastric pub in Northleach which was superb (though the menu was pricey for adults, the food was delicious with wonderful attention to detail and the kids menu was very good value). One thing about the campsite, if there’s a cold wind the electric hookup grass spots were pretty exposed. Worth bringing a windbreak so you can still sit outside and enjoy the sunshine when it comes without feeling too blown by the wind. The campsite offers a fire basket and firewood plus firefighters and a bit of kindling (enough for 3 fires) for £25 which they deliver to your tent or caravan. Great idea.

Lovely stay in a shepherd hut

We really enjoyed our stay in the shepherds hut. Our friends were able to camp in their tent next door, and we enjoyed being able to use the fire pit and picnic table together. There was lots of space for the dogs and barely anyone around. The bed was quite uncomfortable - I probably would have preferred to just use camping mats on a raised platform instead. The fire pit was awesome - we brought our own grill to put on top so we could use it for cooking. The wood we bought from reception was unseasoned and obviously quite newly cut, so it was super smoky. Glad we brought our own charcoal. The showers and toilets were clean and worked well, though we did expect there to be toilets closer to where we were staying (we definitely could have checked that on a map though!). Overall, we had a great time :) A few tweaks and it would be perfect.

Lovely campsite

I'm not normally a fan of big campsites but our experience last night was great. Being late in the season, it was quite empty and we had our choice of where to camp. We pitched our tent in the Glade, a lovely field with a beautiful view - it felt quite 'real' and not 'campsitey' if that makes sense. Clean, solid toilet block and thorough Covid precautions. The gentleman who checked us in was really friendly. The whole experience was excellent and we will definitely be back.

Clean but not as expected

Great couple of nights- really well organised whilst still relaxed and friendly

We had to drive down the Fosse way to visit relatives so stopped off to stay without any extra journeying Whilst being super clean, organised and Covid secure, it was very relaxed - we were greeted and they couldn’t be more helpful Bar,cafe and pizza on site but our spot was so nice we didn’t go, and these facilities were tucked away and unobtrusive Love having a fire pit, and they’re able to rent pits and sell logs if you want, but there’s no obligation It’s a beautiful area of the country and we had some lovely walks Would like to come back and try the local pubs! Lovely

Really great weekend at far peak glamping. Was a completely new experience and I have never enjoyed camping but this was wonderful! We were going with a group of a few friends but they had to pull out last minute because they needed to self isolate so not being able to cancel a glamping tent was a BIG cost for them. The team at far peak was incredibly accommodating to our needs, you just need to ask! It was a shame our shower was either too hot or too cold and the BBQ area outside could’ve done with some lights. Especially for people who never camp, because bringing lanterns wasn’t something I really thought of bringing! We used our phone torches to be able to see our meat cooking. The toilet also didn’t have a light in it which was a bit dangerous as I am currently pregnant and needed the loo at night a lot! The compost toilet might not be ideal for morning sickness but luckily I had just past that stage of pregnancy! All in all, absolutely lovely weekend. The fire in the glamping tent made it super nice and cosy and ensured you never have to be cold. We brought an extra blanket which also helped. There is loads of things to do in the area meaning we will definitely be back! Thanks far peak for the Great weekend!

Fab few nights

We stayed 2 nights at Far Peak passing through Gloucster on our mini road trip. We booked an electric hook up tent pitch and our party also booked a glaming dome. We loved our time here, we stayed mid week and the site was really quiet. The toilets were spotless and had plenty of disinfectant handy. We diddnt use any of the on site facilities such as bar or take away as we loved the glamping dome so much. It had everything we needed for a fab stay, we sat both evenings with a bbq and fire pit (provided) and looked out over the lovely view. The only problem we had was with the electric in the dome as it diddnt seem to charge well and so we had to be cautious about keeping the cool box running all night.

Amazing first camping experience!

I was always an advid camper as a child, but now approaching my 30's ive always only ever booked at resorts/hotels. Me and my partner fancied a small local break away, and we thought lets bite the bullet and see how we get on camping! We luckily got together all our equipment, food, drinks etc in short notice and off we went! The site was easy to find, and well marked. We had booked in the glades but upon check-in the wonderful man Flyn saw we had no children with us, and suggested instead we move to the paddock (adult only). We also booked a fantastic firepit with him for the weekend - SO WORTH the £20 inc logs! Makes a real difference at night. Setup was easy, the space was fantastic and well spread out. The paddock had use of the Glade toilets, you were allocated a number for shower/bathroom. At each use they were spotless, sanitised and well looked after. The kitchen facilities had electrical access which you can use for a blowup bed or hairdryer etc. Onsite there is a bar/cafe and mess hall - in the evening they had a projector on with Hot Fuzz. Great company amongst the staff and nice way to end our evening with a few draft pints! Local surroundings are as expected - gorgeous scenery and fabulous walks. Northleach had some wonderful shops, and Bourton-On-Water was pictuersque (albiet very heavy with tourists on a sunday morning). Everything you will need is at this site, the staff are above and beyond friendly, facilities fantastic, and you'll have a fabulous time! Both me and my partner have started our work week with a big smile and spring in our step. We will surely make this our regular destination. Thanks to all the team there x

The perfect stay!

We stayed in a Shepherds Hut for the weekend (end of August) and it was just perfect! We found it plenty warm enough through the night. The toilets etc are about a minute or 2s walk away so I’d recommend bringing a camping toilet or disposable thing (like a ‘travel John’) if you’re likely to need a wee in the night. There are no plugs, just lights, so bring a battery pack for your phone or charge it in the car during the day. You can park fairly close to drop your stuff off (50m away), I did the duvet and pillows in one trip and our bag in the next one. Each but has its own picnic bench and a fire pit - I’d recommend buying skewers before you go if you want to toast marshmallows as the entire area was sold out! The facilities are very clean and the showers were nice and warm, as well as the taps to wash your hands, which was nice. Toilet roll and soap both provided. We paid to do the low ropes course with our 3 and 4 year olds in the forest. It was good but you definitely need to go round with them. Half of it was too big/difficult for them, but they enjoyed it none the less. There’s a little cafe And a bar also where you can currently sit outside and eat. We didn’t use them but they looked nice enough. There is a gym and a massage place onsite which presumably you can pay to use if you wish. Overall a lovely stay for the weekend, would highly recommend!

Great

This was our only camping trip of the season and glad we came. Friendly owners and a nice vibe from neighbours. We had grass pitch with electrical hook up and fresh water tap very close. There were quite a few groups and this is made clear in the description that groups were excepted. Music was playing until the curfew of 11pm at night also as stated so no bother. There were the climbing facilities there as well as bike hire but we didn’t use these. Dogs are allowed, a must for us as well as bring your own or rent fire pits also a tick for us. Cirencester is nearby with Tesco and Aldi and also a Beefeater and McDonalds (about 9 miles). We visited Bibury with it’s beautiful listed cottages and had a walk around the trout farm. We also visited Bourton on the water with it’s shallow river, with low bridges and lots of eatery and gift shops. The 1 hour 45 min drive from South Wales made this a perfect weekend getaway.

Just lovely

Although very busy when we arrived, all facilities were very clean and kept that way throughout! Lovely washing up area, hot water in the showers. The bar area was nice and the pizza van was a lovely touch. Enjoyable

We stayed in the Glade - which we absolutely loved! Felt like being back with nature - no cars. The tent pitches were really spaced out - there was loads of space for the kids to run around and a cute little woodland around the perimeter of the Glade which was great for the kids to explore! The fasciitis were regularly cleaned which really put our minds at ease - as this is our first outing since the Covid-19 pandemic began. Staff were super friendly and helped us in our hour of need - we forgot our tent pegs!!! Overall we had a great stay and would definitely come back!

Good first experience , basic camp

We had a nice 2 nights stay at Far Peak. Our pitch was at the Glades, which we were very happy with as it felt safe with the children and there were no noisy groups. There were 3 showers and 4 toilets in the Glades but people from the main camp used it as well as it was closer than the other ones. It was good to have a hot shower but the whole area could do with some TLC. One of the showers was broken which got reported and staff quickly tried to fix it but it broke again. Staff on site were very helpful and friendly. The road noise didn’t bother us but this would have been a different story on the other side of the site. It is a good base to explore the area. We would return here again.

Great site, perfect location, warm and welcoming.

We have recently spent 3 days at Far Peak and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a last minute booking and we arrived fairly late but the owner was there to welcome us and we got a great spot even though we were the last ones in! Given the current safety measures, we were really happy with how the site was protecting its visitors. Toilet and washing facilities were very clean and the showers were very roomy and plenty of hot water! There was so much to do for the children but unfortunately we were unable to access them as we had not pre-booked - we are planning another visit so we can take full advantage of the Far peak climbing centre and surrounding activities. There is the cafe/deli which has a great outside terrace which would have been great in the sun...... we didn't make use of it as the weather was too awful! The site is in a really beautiful part of the Cotswolds and so perfect location for exploring; Bourton on the Water and Stow on the Wold are both within 10 mins and are stunning villages that are definitely worth visiting. We took a stunning walk around Sherbourne National Trust Park which was brilliant for the children. They made dens in the woods and went on the hunt for the carved animals. We also took our puppy and were made to feel very welcome bringing pets..... plenty of space for them to enjoy as well x

Everything we needed

Would recommend choosing the Glade field as it feels much more secluded and away from the busy road. It was a lovely area to camp in, very peaceful and luckily our neighbors were very quiet too. Toilet and showers were great (one was broken tho), hot water was a blessing! Saw a lot of reviews saying the “automatic” lights don’t work but they do, you just have to press them they aren’t automatic...We did a 2-hour rock climbing/bouldering on-site, facilities are fairly small but we had lots of fun. Walk to Northleach through a field, quite a small village but the Wheatsheaf Inn is huge, lots of tables outside so we didn’t need to book. But make sure you book for things like hiring a bike, or other attractions like the Roman villa - we didn’t book far enough in advance so weren’t able to do things like this.

Nice but not amazing, in need of some TLC

We had an ok weekend camping. We had a pitch in the Glade which was a nice area and we weren't disturbed by road noise (could see this being an issue with the other fields). The overall feel of the campsite is that it's a bit rough around the edges and could do with some TLC, e.g. toilet and shower lights not working. The toilet, washing and shower facilities are limited and it felt like a lot of people were sharing the same facilities during these Covid times with limited cleaning. The car parking area by the reception is a but rough and ready and we thought that the person going around on the quad bike delivering logs, etc to others was going a bit quickly, considering the number of small children around the site playing. We would have also liked to have a map showing the layout of the campsite and showing the local walking/cycling routes - even a board at the reception with this would have been useful. It's disappointing that the owners/management do not enforce the 11pm quiet policy - we were kept awake by a noisy group both nights. Pros' - It's nice being able to get a proper coffee in the mornings and there are lots of lovely cotswold towns/villages with nice pubs to visit nearby. We would think twice about returning as have been to plenty of other campsites which are better than this one.

Glade

A mixed bag. It is a fairly large site. As we drove in I felt disappointed as it looked more like a holiday park with no character. But luckily we were put in the Glade field which was mostly young families, was car free and had some lovely areas for the children to play. The cafe is a nice idea although their coffee was pretty dreadful and they didn’t have a great selection for breakfast. A few planters could brighten it up as it was a bit like sitting on an industrial estate... Fine as we cook our own food anyway and there are plenty of nice cafes nearby but if they could improve this it would be great. The other downside was that there were a lot of noisy campers in the next field playing music late at night, plus the road is very noisy. So in summary if you are going with children or want something quieter ask for the glade field and remember to take your own coffee!!

Good Campsite. Expensive To Climb

Our first ever camping trip as a family. Can not fault the site . Clean. Even the toilets and showers were spotless. Only thing I could fault was how expensive the low ropes were. £25 for 1 hour. Wow 😮. We had previously read this was £3 for all day. Low ropes wasn’t great to be charging £25 also this was including a walk around the woods within the 1hour time slot. Wouldn’t call it a wooded area personally. Just felt this should had been within the price of camping or remaining £3 all day would been reasonable.

The site is well equipped to ensure safety from germs! Our pitch was large and we were sited next to our family members, which was a great touch! The food on site was excellent, the curfew was kept to and overall we had a fantastic time! I would recommend this site to many. It is not far from shops, a lake, a zoo! Fantastic Family Camping Trip

We arrived home yesterday following a short week of camping at Far Peak. Despite being washed out on the Wednesday, we had the most fantastic time on site. The pitch offered lots of space to play family games & enjoy camping without feeling over crowded. The facilities where great, hot showers where a definite bonus! Care and attention where taken with the new guidelines for COVID which left us feeling safe and able to enjoy our trip without worry. The location was also great, we nipped to a few towns in the cotswolds and enjoyed a lovely 8 miles walk to the knight stone Circle which was a lovely day out. Great trip & would definitley visit again!

Fair but not perfect

We stayed here at the start of August. Booking a pitch was very easy and the owner was very obliging when I asked to extend our stay from 3 to 5 nights a week before we arrived. The site itself is very beautiful and the pitches are well spaced. The owner was constantly driving around checking that all was okay and dropping off bits and pieces that people had asked for. At nighttime the site was quiet and on the one night that some campers decided to play dance music at full blast, it was dealt with quickly. So why did we decide to cut our holiday short by a night? The same reason that we were going to cut it short by two nights. Firstly, the site details do not explain that children can only access the playground at the moment if they pay to do an activity at the outdoor activities centre, which is fully booked for the activities still running. One of the reasons that we chose the site was because of the activities offered (archery particularly), but the majority of these activities were closed - why did the website not explain this? We paid £25 to do “low ropes” as it was the only thing available. The low ropes course is old and elements of it are broken. It took my children less than a minute to do the parts that could be used. Another reason is that the field that we were in is right next to a main road and the road noise is excruciatingly loud - there also appeared to be overnight road works going on - but even the general road noise meant that the whole family was exhausted after the first and each remaining night. Thirdly, the Automatic lights did not work in the toilet block which meant very dark night time visits with no hope of trying to disinfect it afterwards. Other small things: the prices at the “cafe”, incorrect information about the take away van being there on our first night (it wasn’t”) and an overflowing dumpster made us unhappy with our stay. It could have been great - but it wasn’t.

Quiet and relaxing

We were so lucky when we went as it was mid week and so quiet, The campsite had social distancing measures in place and signs dotted about wash rooms to remind campers. Has good cycle trails and lots on campsite to do. The bar wasnt open till 5 though, shame it wasnt open at lunch time , The facilities were regularly cleaned too which was nice to see. Recommended but maybe next time I'll try for a different field as it was noisy near the road where we were. Great pubs nearby for eating out (Seven Tunns Inn) and Bourton on the Water is a great place to visit.

We had a pitch with power hook up and rented a fire pit with logs, Hot air balloons arrived, set up and drifted off into the dusk on our first night - the kids loved it! the onsite bar and cafe worked out great for us too. We spoke to other campers who were on their second and third trips too - What a great time we had and we will definitely be one of those who are going back - so maybe you will read this - visit and see us there on our second trip ! - well recommended.

Super friendly owners/staff

Far peak is a lovely big site with large pitches. We had a great time and the owners/staff were always super friendly and helpful. The bar and cafe area is super cool and a lovely option for food and drinks on the weekend. There were only a few down sides. It says there is a children’s playground on site but you can only access it if you pay £20 for your family to do the low ropes course. I’m guessing this is due to covid? However it really limited the amount of things to keep the kids busy and meant that in 5 days, the kids only had an hour to play there. The site is dog friendly but there isn’t a dog field or exercise area for your dog which would be really handy if like my dog, they need to be off lead to ‘go’. Despite the toilet/shower blocks being super basic, it’s all clean and the shower is powerful and lots of hot water which is great. There is quite a lot of road noise from the electric hook up pitches as it backs on to a main road but you stop noticing so much after a while. Great pubs within easy walking distance and very good location to explore the area. We would go back.

First family camping trip!

We stayed in the glade and the pitches are a great size and well spaced out. The shower and toilet facilities were really clean with loads of hand sanitizer and bacterial sprays available. Check out the food van, but get there in good time as she sold out every night we were there! Hosts were super friendly and checked in a couple of time to see if we needed anything. If the kids want to use the climbing wall ect, I would suggest booking prior to your stay as the pandemic means reduced numbers. There is a not finished feel to the site but that means it will only get better in time. We would definitely stay again.

Fab time for a first time camper

booked last minute with my boys and our friends booked also! I've never been camping before, but the site was perfect, the staff were welcoming and helpful, and the location just spot on!! Was a bit disappointed we couldn't do the wall climbing or ropes as no availability but I guess that was our fault for not booking in advance just didnt think we needed to! Guess will know for next time! We had the perfect weather which made the trip a better first time experience but I would honestly come again, really enjoyed the experience and the campsite thankyiu for a lovely time! My boys said it was the best place they'd ever been!!!

Family first holiday in a tent

Bring my mum and twins was always going to be a challenge with two tents that i have never used before. Used to a caravan with its luxuries this was definitely going to be different. The site was exceptionally clean. this was such a great surprise. The staff went out of there way to help and make our stay the best. Even the social distancing was not a problem for Far Peak. We will definitely be returning and using the climbing wall (requires booking in advance).

Fantastic 3 day break with the kids

We were allocated the most amazing spot in The Glade, which has no electric hook up - perfect for going semi off-grid. There were families around us, but within a very comfortable distance. There was so much fro the kids to do - finding the tree house and rope swing was their highlight. We booked a family session on the climbing wall and low ropes, which was super fun. We also hired bikes from site - which made our trip into Northleach for Sunday Lunch, a lovely treat. Top tip - if you have little ones (Ours are 7 & 8), hire the electric bikes and then tow the kids up the hill. Social distancing wasn't an issue at all - we were given designated showers and toilets which everyone respected, and the staff kept them well stocked and regularly cleaned. We all highly recommend the site.

Clean and Friendly

The owners and staff were very friendly and helpful. The place was spotless, the toilets and showers were immaculate with plenty of hot water. We went during August 2020 so they were operating at reduced capacity so we had ample space. We did not have a meal onsite but we did buy snacks and beer which was a joy to consume from the roof terrace.

Friendly, relaxed and clear

Greeted by lovely staff and allocated a spacious pitch in the glade. Super clean facilities which was very reassuring given the current situation. The bar and cafe with a roof top terrace was a great addition to this campsite and very helpful staff who were always able to give suggestions of what there is to do locally. Overall a lovely stay and I would happily come back again.

Great, clean and organised

We were a little apprehensive about camping after lockdown. We were give an allocated toilet and shower to use which most people abided by. These facilities were always clean and had antibac to spray before and after use. The pitches were big and other campers well spaced out. This also allows the children to freely play without disturbing anyone. We reported a broken lightbulb which was dealt with immediately. I absolutely love this place and would definitely recommend and be returning soon.

Lovely family stay

We stayed in the shepherds hut, really lovely and friendly campsite staff. Well spaced out from others and the right level of privacy. Campsite staff were helpful and accomodating. Facilities were clean. Really enjoyed staying and hoping to return.

Site well catered for, Road Very noisy.

The site is lovely, staff friendly and helpful. Pitches are large and easy to distance from Neighbours. Only let down was the road was very close by, very busy day and all night.

Great facilities, fun times

Weve just returned from 4 nights camping at far peak and loved it! Lovely bar and cafe, great clean facilities. They are handling covid really well without being intrusive. My only complaint is that the tents are too close together. More room please!

Lovely site, but too noisy for our young family

Far Peak is an immaculately kept campsite and the measures they have put in place around COVID are very reassuring. The toilets and showers couldn't have been cleaner. The site is very well maintained, and we had a spacious pitch and friendly welcome. The climbing centre is a real bonus and we really enjoyed our sessions there. Northleach is a very pleasant walk away and the Hayloft cafe was also handy. However, curfew was not observed by other campers and the combination of noise until 1am and a busy main road adjacent to the field made for a really poor night's sleep which really took the shine of what otherwise would have been a lovely weekend break. I'm sure it would be a great site for a sociable weekend with friends and older children.

Relaxed and welcoming

Set in rolling fields, this a lovely relaxed campsite. The owner/ manager was very welcoming and made an effort to allocate pitches to suit different groups(we were tucked in a quiet slot away from big family groups). Showers and loos are decent and clean. Fire pits were delivered to tent and even gave us extra firelighters go the second night.

Fantastic campsite!

We stayed mid-July 2020 and the campsite had put in lots of steps to keep everyone safe especially around toilet and shower areas. The bar and takeaway both very useful. We stayed in a dome and were really wowed by how private it felt. North Leach is the closest village and also has a take away and shop which came in handy. We ate at the Wheatsheaf Inn in North Leach which has excellent outside dining. Overall a very enjoyable stay!

Lovely campsite

Perfect for a few days away, friendly , clean and well organised. The only negative would be price, we paid £75 for 2 nights. We had a wv camper and an awning so no different to a car and tent , oh and a dog(which was fine to pay extra) not sure why the extra £20 a night was needed for awning.

A brilliant relaxed campsite

We arrived on Sunday 12th July for four nights. We were met by Gary who was very friendly and informative. Had a huge pitch with open views. Loved the relaxed feel to the campsite and never heard any noise at all. We didn’t use the facilities as had our own on board facilities which preferred to use at the current time. Gary drove around in the evening offering fire pits and checking everyone was ok which was a lovely thing to do. Good walking and quiet roads for cycling nearby and lovely villages to visit such as Bourton on the Water. I would not hesitate to book this site again hopefully in the near future.

Fantastic campsite with lots to do

We visited Far Peak Campsite from the 10th to 12th of July and had a great weekend. Not only was the weather superb but the campsite was well organised and very clean which was a relief due to the situation with covid 19. The site has lots of facilities available like climbing, bouldering, cafe and bar with roof terrace. Nearby there are plenty of place to visit of interest and to keep the kids entertained. The site manager even restarted my car battery for me when it went flat on the last day. Would highly recommend this place

The Glade made our holiday!

We stayed in a scenic corner of The Glade surrounded by trees and it was perfect for a group of friends. I’d recommend hiring a fire pit to sit around at night and enjoy the stars. The facilities were clean and all worked well. The staff were all friendly, helpful and there when you needed them. There were no negatives about our trip and we will definitely be returning. :)

Not bad... but not great either

We enjoyed our stay at Far Peak, but have stayed in more comfortable campsites. It was pretty noisy. Right next to a busy road and lots of large groups. There was a big group of young teenage boys staying near us playing loud music. Not the place to go if you want peace & quiet. The showers have nowhere to sit so you have to get dressed hopping about on one foot while trying to dry off. No heating in shower block makes it pretty chilly. It's a good location and big pitches on the plus side.

A superb Tipi experience

In this fun, friendly & family run campsite we had a blast! My family of 6 stayed in one of the pre-pitched tipis and over the weekend we explored the wild woods; sampled the simply silky smoothies at the climbing centre café and collapsed happy under the stars next to our own fire pit. The showers, loos, washing up facilities and freezer for freezer blocks were all up to scratch even though it was a busy, busy bank holiday weekend. See you again soon!

Amazing September break

Stayed at far Peak fri-mon at the start of September. Very lucky with the weather. Lovely addition to be able to use fire pits.. which was great fun in the evenings. Well kept site, helpful staff. Fabulous!

Very well set up, plenty of space for our group! We enjoyed having the Hayloft for a couple of drinks and the park area was great for the kids. We used the cycle hire which was also good quality and very helpful staff. Freezer for ice packs which was super useful on the beautiful August bank holiday weather! The shower/toilet block was nice and clean as was the washing up area but very busy and could do with a few more but certainly not a game changer! Would stay again 😃

Plenty of space

Spacious camping field. Nice showers, toilets and wash area - we didn't have to queue during our stay. The water for washing up always seemed to be tepid which was a shame. We were quite bothered by wasps on one of the days. It was great to be close to the climbing centre and their handy café.

Nice camp site - toddler friendly

First time staying at this site and selected based on the locality to some of the areas we wished to see so was pleasantly surprised by the amenities on site, which include a small shop, café, play area, and rope course. Our son had a great time running around the ample space and saying hello to the cat and horse each morning. Washing facilities ideal, including toilets, showers and sink area. Plenty of space to play in, will recommend.

Perfect Campground for our Family

We spent a week end in the Cotswolds, and Far Peak was the perfect campground for us - a family with two young children aged 6YO and 19MO. We enjoyed the natural setting of the Glade, and loved that there are a café/restaurant, playground, and climbing centre on-site. The facilities were clean and well-maintained, despite being a very busy summer time. We will camp there again for sure next time we visit the Cotswolds.

Great family campsite

Our first family camping trip at Far Peak was lovely. Well run, tidy site, ideal for families. We stayed in the main area which had lots of space and good shower and toilet facilities. We paid a little extra for a fire pit which was brought to our plot with firewood and kindling. The site has a well catered cafe and shop for nibbles and drinks, as well as a rooftop bar. There’s also a great climbing centre. Northleach village is a 5 min drive away if you want to pick up some provisions from the convenience store or a 30-45 minute walk. Bourton-on-the-water and Stow-on-the-wold are also a short drive away. Big shout out to the campsite crew, especially Darren, the friendly steward (thanks for the tip to check out Bidbury). Hope to visit again.

Great place for camping with a group of friends

We've been coming to Far Peak for the last 4 years or so with our kids and various other groups of friends so I thought it was about time to leave a review! We were there last weekend and will be back again this weekend and one other in early July so we are definite fans of this site. We love the space on the main fields, even when busy it never feels jam packed and there's always space for the kids to run around. As mentioned we generally visit in largish groups with children ranging in ages from 1 to 18 and all ages in between. The site always feels safe enough for us to let even the younger ones off the leash a little bit. There have been a few reviews I noted that mark down the toilet and shower facilities, I would say that they are indeed basic but they are clean and well lit. I have to admit I've never used the showers (they allow fire pits so the smell of woodsmoke covers up most bad odours!) but the hot water can run out in the washing up area when everyone uses the sinks at the same time - the management does point out that hot water tanks do not have an endless supply though and again, never really bothered me or the people we've camped with. The wooded area, low ropes and new play area are a hit with the kids and the climbing centre is great too. Its definitely NOT a caravan club style site with hard standing pitches. mowed fields and loads of other caravanners, head elsewhere if this is you bag! If you want a chilled out site with lots of room for children to play in safety then this is the place for you.

Nice spot...shame about the neighbours!

Nice place to camp....climbing wall was excellent and Darren is a great host. Could do with a small shop or even better collaboration with one of the local farms for produce??!! Only reason it wasn't 5stars is because we were adjacent to a bunch of absolutely tools!.....noisy & obnoxious with terrible kids....not the sites fault, but just venting!!

Awful!!! Not the family holiday we planned

I will start with the campsite review, rather than the horrific night we had to accommodate with 300 bikers!! As other reviews, there is not a shop on site for simple grocery requirements, you are lucky if there is some milk left. Toilet block is very basic, cleaning could be improved as when you look up, all i could see was cobwebs. the shower cubicles got further damaged following the bikers brining in the bikes for repair 50% of the time we struggled to get hot water to shower in. 100% there was never hot water at the sinks or to wash dishes in, had to resort to boiling kettle. location, next to A road, so don't go if you want a nice quiet setting, the road noise is constant through the night. we were very unlucky the week we went, the manager/owners had decided to accept a party of bikers from Holland, approx 300 in the same field we were staying in. They had managed to clear most campers out apart from 4 family tents. The bikers gathered over a long period, so there was constant engine noise and the fumes where terrible, you could not eat outside. we were unable to use the toilet block, as it had bikes parked inside for the light. we, and the other families, would not let our children out of our sight. we were directed to another toilet block, however it didn't take long before the bikers found this one too. the manager was not apologetic and said 'well they are just campers, just 300 single tents, whats the problem'. some bikers, were riding around the field at 11pm, potentially under the influence of alcohol as the camp site operated a 'pop up beer bar', this was extremely dangerous as they could have drove into family tents. at 6am the following morning, the engines started again as they departed the site, the noise was horrific, for 3 hours we had to endure this noise as the last one left the site, my hearing still has not recovered. i can't believe that the Management thought this was okay, they never informed us that this was going to happen and give us a choice not to come or leave early. it was handled extremely badly, the other families i spoke to were also upset by the experience. there are plenty of other campsites in the area, so advise to look at them. if you want to go for the climbing wall or low ropes, then visit for the day... at least then you can retreat back to a quiet, clean campsite on the evening

Relaxed, spacious site with ability to have firepit

Camped with family for two nights on a basic no electric pitch. The main field is sloped but with a good area that is level enough. Pitches with electricity are by the hedges and the top hedge shelters from wind, which was surprisingly strong for August. Plenty of space for kids to run round and climbing centre gives a great no travel activity though you should book in advance. The café makes things easy for a morning sausage bap/batch and was well priced. Pizza available in a yurt on weekend evenings looks good but adds up quickly for a family of four. Had a great time camping and would go again. Only downside is toilet/shower block is a little basic with showers onto a concrete floor and door straight out onto field. Water hot in shower but lukewarm in the mixed sex basin area. Not enough to put us off but this is always going to be a two night pitch for us, not anything longer.

First Time Success

This was our first camping trip as family of five (plus dog). Far Peak was an ideal choice with the climbing centre, cycle hire and cafe on the site. The site has a very relaxed feel and we liked the fact that you could choose where you pitch your tent when you arrive as this allowed us the space we needed to figure out our setup. We also enjoyed our nightly campfires (all the necessary equipment is on sale at the site) which made for a lovely end to the day. The communal facilities were always clean and in good working order and the staff are very helpful (including jump starting our car one morning!). The children enjoyed their visits to the climbing centre including for one of the organised sessions. With some of The Cotswold's finest attractions nearby you won't be stuck for a day out either. For us, we couldn't have chosen better for our first time.

Great outdoor freedom and fun facilities

Staff were very helpful and relaxed straight away from our arrival. They leant us an extension as ours wasn’t long enough for the electric hook up. They also came and did regular checks on the quad to check everyone was ok! Very good in the extreme heat! The climbing centre on site were also very good had very helpful staff all 3 children loved the bouldering and the climbing walls this was well priced and the free low ropes were great! The showers and toilets were good and clean a few may benefit from newer locks but this may be a problem only due to the extreme heat making a few difficult to lock?? although hot water to washing up was often lacking the area was good and even a freezer for ice packs was very useful! Massive bonus and can’t believe we haven’t seen anything about this in any brochure! Was that they set off hot air ballon flights from the field our tent was pitched in!!! It was an amazing sight! The kids got so closed and could watch the whole process! Lots of local attractions in easy reach also The Roman villla - bourton on the water- Cotswolds farm park- and the water park Sherborne ...... we also drove home via oxford a beautiful city!

Fantastic Experience - perfect bank holiday weekend

My partner and I booked a basic grass pitch at Far Peak Camping for the bank holiday weekend. We are a young couple who were looking to explore the surrounding Cotswolds countryside, and so used Far Peak as our base for the 3 days. Fantastic quality pitches, lots of space, good quality/clean showers and toilet facilities. Lovely atmosphere in camp; mix of young families, friends and couples. Fire pit was great although the wood was a little damp so difficult to get the fire going! I loved the little café for coffee/breakfast in the morning. Overall, good experience.
