Well-managed campsite in the heart of the Forest of Dean

Camping in the Forest certainly know how to run a good campsite; they own over 15 sites across Britain and some of the finest forest land in the country. So, you’re guaranteed a site surrounded by woodland, with well-marked forest walks and cycle routes, scenic forest drives, picnic sites and play areas. It’s also a good bet you’ll have some of Britain’s best-kept countryside on your doorstep.

Bracelands campsite in the Forest of Dean is no exception. The huge camping meadow on the upper slopes of the Wye Valley is surrounded by dense forest on all sides. Even the camping fields are dotted with the occasional copper beech tree. The facilities are faultless. Rows and rows of pristine toilets and showers are arranged in three shower blocks. Of course, there’s a genuine need for all these facilities with 520 pitches and up to 2000 visitors to cater for.

An easy walk through the forest delivers you at the banks of the Wye River, which is passable via the suspension bridge at Bilblins, or stay on this side for a delightful walk to Symonds Yat. On the Forest Of Dean Sculpture Trail you’ll discover trees interspersed with sculptures and works of art; a thoroughly enjoyable 3½-mile stroll through the landlord’s extensive acreage.

Good site

We enjoyed our stay here. It is a very big site but seemed fairly well organised and looked after, clean enough. We were there on a very busy bank holiday weekend and it poured with rain but we still had fun. There aren't marked sites in the bit we stayed in so it was a bit of a free-for-all but good if you're with a group as we were. There was a good mix of people young and old which made for a good atmosphere. There was someone partying all night long with loud music which could be annoying for some.
Having said all that, I looked at going back here recently and I think they'd put the prices up since we were there. I felt like it was too expensive for what was on offer at the site.

Lovely Site

Had a great two night stay here, great views and excellent facilities. Was warned that the site could be noisy with the Monmouth raft race the same weekend but actually found it one of the quietest sites we have stayed at! Had lots of room to pitch up and the star gazing at night was wonderful. Some great walks straight from the site and very easy to find your way around. Saw somebody else mentioned the speed bumps...lets just say our clio struggled!

Camping in the Forset

Stayed here for a couple of nights on our way down to Croyde, with our 3 children. Lovely location in the woods with plenty of walks surrounding the site.  Campsite and the toilets were kept really clean and tidy, and the staff were very friendly. Handy little well priced shop for ice cream & essentials, but don't trust the maps they sell! The drive in and out was a bit steep for our campervan and the bumps were deceptfully high! Not to many flat pitches so you do need your chocks. Very peaceful a great place to stay.

Lovely Campsite

We stayed at this campsite over the Easter weekend and had a lovely time! When we arrived we hadn’t booked but there was plenty of space for our tent and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Although some parts are a bit slopey we had no problems finding a suitable spot. The toilet and shower blocks were clean and well maintained and the washing up area was also a great asset. The location of the campsite is fantastic with Monmouth, Symonds Yat and lots of other lovely places within easy distance and there are lots of great walking and cycling routes around the campsite. We couldn’t have asked for anything more and will definitely be returning!

Bracelands

Bracelands is very big and open but not crowded, so it was possible to get a pitch close to trees at the edge of the site. Stunning views of the night sky. Lovely to surrounded by trees.

Toilets, showers adequate, but I'm glad the site wasn't full. Best to have showers at night or else queue up in the morning.

Nearby campsite has great cafe and shop (although pricey).

Brilliant walks in the forest, the River Wye is stunning. Tremendous views from Symonds Yat. The Forest of Dean is a great site for outdoor activities, walks, cycling, Go Ape for the kids. Easy to get to from London, straight out on the A40.

We'll go back

Bracelands

Booked on line a couple of weeks before our stay, couldn’t have been easier. Chose a pitch in the vicinity of the family bathroom and children’s play area for convenience. It’s our 1st camping trip together so were very excited and trying to cater for as many requirements as possible. This site was recommended by a friend who spent his childhood camping at Bracelands. It’s just down the road from Symonds Yat and the River Wye, so plenty to see and do including meeting up with my canoe club for a quick paddle. Will be recommending this site to friends and family and colleagues and anyone who’ll listen...
