View-tastic farm camping with campfires on the Isle of Purbeck

Oh what we’d give to be the farmer at Knoll Farm on the Isle of Purbeck in Dorset. Tending the flock, with views down across marshes to the sea and, in the other direction, to the ruins of Corfe Castle standing magnificently in a pinch between two hills. Sure, farming is hard work. But the sunrise, which shimmers over Poole Harbour in the summer, and the dawn chorus from the adjacent Hartland Moor Nature Reserve, must make the early mornings worthwhile.

Today, however, you needn’t be the farmer to enjoy this well-placed parcel of land, at least not during the school summer holidays when the huge field beside Knoll Farm is opened up to campers. Every visitor sings the praises of the fine views, the ever-friendly hosts Nat and Darren, the communal weekend campfires and the general atmosphere of bonhomie that the campsite exudes.

And, while you may not need to be a farmer, this is unashamedly a farm campsite. Campers park beside a wonky fence and a couple of agricultural barns – now a handy sheltered space with rustic straw-bale benches – and set out into the field to find their pitch. And facilities, aside from water taps, toilets and some rustic-looking showers, are few and far between. But for campers who prefer wildlife over nightlife and open space instead of ‘premium serviced pitches', Knoll Farm hits the mark.

While many of the Jurassic Coast’s most popular attractions are within a half-hour drive – Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door, Kimmeridge Bay, Swanage, Studland and Old Harry Rocks, to name but a few – Knoll Farm really lends itself to walking. There’s a supremely scenic half-hour walk through Hartland Moor National Nature Reserve to the Blue Pool, a flooded former clay pit on the Furzebrook Estate with two signed routes through the surrounding woods and heath. Minuscule clay and chalk particles suspended in the water create the pool’s distinctive sparkling quality, sometimes a staggering turquoise colour. To the north, meanwhile, it’s a 50-minute walk into riverside market town of Wareham or it’s a 45-minute stroll south to Corfe Castle, where, along with the castle, the cream teas in the National Trust café make it worth the walk alone. And as for dinner? Well, it’s a 15-minute wander to a good pub at the end of the road. What more could you want?

Nearby

The magnificent view from the campsite to ruined Corfe Castle, two miles away, will no doubt make you want to visit. It’s a five-minute drive or 45-minute walk to the village and 11th-century castle of the same name (one of the first castles to be built in South West England by William the Conqueror). The castle and much of the village is now owned by the National Trust, which means there are well-organised family activities in summer, as well as good cream teas in the tearooms. Corfe Castle is one of a handful of stops on the Swanage Railway (01929 425800), the closest being the end-of-the-line stop in Norden just a mile from the campsite, so you can ride the old steam train from the castle to Swanage Bay or back towards camp. (A variety of one-way, three and five day, and all-day, hop-on/off tickets are available, as well as standard day-returns.) The beautiful market town of Wareham, set alongside the River Frome, is a 10-minute drive away or a long walk via Stoborough Heath National Nature Reserve. Another nature reserve – Hartland Moor – is on the other side of the campsite and the Furzebrook Estate, home to the Blue Pool and a series of marked walking trails, is just beyond, also within walking distance. But no visit to the Jurassic Coast would be complete without taking in the area’s famous beaches (and perhaps spending some time fossil hunting while you’re down on the shore). Lulworth Cove, Sandbanks, Swanage Beach, Man O’War Beach and Kimmeridge Bay are all less than half an hour away, as well as some of the coastline’s most striking features, such as the rock arch of Durdle Door or Old Harry’s Rocks, the sea stacks off of Studland Bay.

Food & Drink

It's a half-mile walk (15 minutes or so) to The Halfway Inn (01929 480402), a snug, partly thatched, 16th-century, beamed pub where dogs and children are both more than welcome. Local Badger beers are on tap and the freshly cooked food includes children's, vegetarian and vegan choices. When the sun's out, there's a lovely picnic area on the paved terrace and lawn. There are plenty of good choices in nearby Wareham too, including the riverside Quay Inn (01929 552735) and The Old Granary (01929 552010), while, closer still, the Kings Arms in Stoborough (01929 552705) has wonderful views over marshes to the River Frome.

Our best summer ever

We have had the best summer camping at knoll farm. The sunset and sunrise are breathtaking, the field is clean and spacious, the staff are helpful, hardworking and always available. The toilet and shower block is clean and really pretty, the showers are lovely and hot and the toilets were always stocked and clean. The yoga class was suitable for all levels and it was such a lovely setting to practice in the field. We will definitely be back next year to make more incredible memories in this ‘wild camping’ campsite. Thank you Nat, Darren and the team for making us feel welcome. 10 out of 10 :)

Such a good vibe

Pick a pitch on this site and you won't be disappointed. Amazing sunsets, stunning scenery, such a cool vibe. Loads of space, the kids loved running around, and the music at night was such a treat. Great location. It's back to basics and so it should be :) it's perfect

Magical and Amazing

We booked for one night but stayed 2 because we loved it so much. We camped up on the ridge and waking up to look at the view across the valley and over to Corfe Castle was a breath-taking sight to behold. Staff were friendly and helpful and everything was clean and organised. We are coming back :-)

Friendly staff, lovely site and great facilitires

Within a few minutes of arriving at Knoll Farm, I knew I'd found a gem to return to. The staff were friendly, accommodating and helpful, and everything felt like it had a personal touch. The facilities were good quality (warm showers, clean and decent toilets) and there was plenty of space, even though it was bank holiday weekend. Our group of six had a lovely spot at the top of the ridge. There was a mix of groups of young people, small families and larger group gatherings. The mariachi band on the Saturday night was a treat! The views around the campsite are very beautiful. You need your own form of transport to get about, as it is a way out of town e.g. car or bike. The taxi services in the area are very friendly also. Highly recommend. I'll make this a regular in the summer calendar.

Beautiful and relaxing

Lovely campsite with lots of space and beautiful view. The owners were very helpful, friendly and accommodating. Clean toilets, showers and portable loos (which were convenient if you camped on the far side). Lovely comunial barn area. Only down side was that we had to take our rubbish with us when we left. With an already fully loaded car that barely fitted everything in to begin with, this was a bit of a problem. Had to drive with it to the nearest town to find somewhere to dump it. If this can be sorted we will definitely go again! Other than this, we had an amazing experience.

Lovely campsite

Although we are regular campers this was our first time camping in the UK. We had an amazing time. The owners were very helpful, friendly and accommodating. Very pleasant experience. Clean toilets, showers and portable loos ( which was convenient if you camped on the far end). Lovely barn area! Only down side was that there was no rubbish disposal, hence the 4 stars. With an already fully loaded car where you can barely fit everything in, we had to put the rubbish bag on the passengers lap and drive to the nearest town to find a place to dump it. If this can be sorted we would definitely go again!

I want to live here!

The 5th Site I've stayed at this summer and by far my favourite! Amazing vibes throughout, so much love and care has gone in to everything. Great facilities; Lovely hot showers, clean toilets and portaloo’s, sinks for washing up, and a barn to chill out in. Felt like I was in the middle of nowhere which was absolute heaven, and only a short walk to the pub. Stunning views, and lots to do in the local area. Wish I could've stayed longer!

Great, fair priced Campsite in great location.

Good vibes at this site. Great location. Live Music. Knocked off a star as: portaloos were a little scruffy come Sunday ( plus no toilet roll) Pizza was available supposedly till 9pm. Tried to order at 8.20pm and was abruptly told pre orders only. Apart form that really enjoyed our stay.

Stunning views and relaxed vibes

We had a really magical time at this wonderful site - booked here because the campsite we usually go to was closed due to covid but it definitely won't be the last time we stay here. We came with another family with small children and were directed to the right hand side of the site as the more family friendly "zone", though honestly we had no issues with noise or any antisocial behaviour at any time, though there was a big mix of age groups, families and groups of friends on the site. Pizzas available on Friday and Saturday nights were probably the best we've ever had. The setting is beautiful on a hill with amazing views across to Corfe castle, though the site is on a slope so pitches are generally a bit uneven but this didn't bother us at all. Lack of electricity anywhere on site meant it was a bit of a challenge to keep food and drink cool, especially in a heatwave but plenty of shops nearby to get daily supplies and the local garage sells bags of ice. I can't honestly fault this place, its very special and we can't wait to return next year

Loved it here

Loved this campsite! From the minute we arrived we were given a full introduction and shown around. We pitched at the far West(ish) side of the camp, amazing views over Corfe Castle and surrounding countryside. The team are so warm and welcoming. Facilities are basic but good and very clean! I am a ‘glamper’ not a true rough and ready camper and was really happy with the toilets and showers. Make sure you have a good torch/lamp if washing your after dark. The barns are charming. Love the piano! Friday night pizzas were a winner and the 2 guys running that were very friendly. I feel so chilled after my 4 nights there. Hoping to be back next year.

Relaxed family friendly calpsite

The campsits is very relaxed and spacious. No marked pitches so you choose the spot you like, which was great for our group with four under 3s so we could find a space away from other people and give them some space to roam around. The campsite also has some great features such as fire pits to hire, pizzas cooked on site on Fridays, a barn laid out with tables and chairs for some shelter and they even had some live music on Saturday. The toilets and showers were great too. It's also only half a mile or so to the nearest pub and has plenty of walking options straight out of the campsite. Close to beaches, Corfe Castle, the Swanage steam railway. The team running the site were very friendly and relaxed too, and with the early arrival and late departure times they offer this made it a great site that we all agreed we'd love to come back to in future.

Superb visit to a great campsite

We had a brilliant time from start to finish at the campsite, starting with a great welcome and tour. The flexibility shown due to the other family we were with mixing up their dates was really nice to see (and rare these days!). The campsite is in a really beautiful setting and the views or corfe castle are amazing. The kids (8,8, 6 and 5) absolutely loved being able to safely explore the site. James and the giant beat was great in the sat night. All the facilities were really clean and well looked after, and the showers were really nice and hot.

Beautiful setting and excellent hosts

All of my camping boxes ticked! Beautiful views of the sea and Corfe castle from our pitch up on the ridge. Clean and well organised toilets and showers. Pizzas on site at the weekend and live music. Super chilled hosts. All of this made for a really happy and friendly vibe. What more can you ask for :-)

Peaceful and spacious camping

We had a great couple of nights an Knoll Farm. Natalie and the other campsite helpers were all so welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely recommend hiring a fire pit as was lovely to sit around in the evenings. A basic campsite with no kids play areas, BUT, no cars allowed by pitch (apart from loading/unloading) so was great as could let the kids run free around the field without a worry and they didn’t even need a play area as had so much fun! Really long hoses at the tap point meant we could stretch it to fill up our paddling pool. Lots of space between tents so could relax without worrying about distancing. Facilities all lovely and clean and showers were always hot. For a laid back festival vibe this is your campsite. We will definitely be back again!!

Best campsite I've been to!

Upon arrival we were shown around and we were so happy with the campsite. We loved the little barn area with the showers, toilets and covered seating area and the fact that we got to choose where we wanted to pitch our tent was the cherry on top. They were so friendly and helpful at reception (one of our car batteries died and they provided us with jump leads) and we felt very safe. One of the best parts was the fire pits you could hire and that it was so close to the beach and core castle. Really really happy with our stay and would definitely recommend to anyone! We will definitely be back again! Thank you!

Fabulous Site - Fabulous Holiday

We spent 8 wonderful nights at Knoll Farm. The site is extremely clean and spacious with loads of choice on where to pitch your tent. The staff were super chilled and very friendly; we were given a detailed tour of the site upon arrival, including where the showers were (lovely and hot) and loos were (lovely and clean) and both were regularly sanitised in conjunction with COVID-19 regulations. Sunset was one of our favourite times on site, where we headed to the corner of the site and watched the sun slowly sink into the horizon with everyone else. Such a magical experience. Don't hesitate to ask the staff for anything - they are more than happy to help. They even donated 2 logs for our fire on our last night - thanks! The site is great for kids. They can run or cycle around in safety and there's a piano for them (or anyone) to bash around on which was great fun. Because it's an all-are-welcome site, it can get a bit noisy at night from larger groups of people without kids but there's a music cut-off at 11pm which the staff enforced (very kindly) by touring the site to make sure everyone is happy. There's a lovely pub just up the road within walking/cycling distance too - perfect! When we go back to Dorset, you can bet we'll be booking our spot here again. You guys made our holiday even better! Thank you!

Beautiful view, lovely staff, plenty of space, perfect!

This campsite was perfect for us, we were a group of 6 quite big tents and a gazebo to cook under and we had so much space it was great, didnt feel overcrowded at all. The shower and toilet block is lovely wooden cubicles, much prettier than the traditional concrete block, and is set in the barn with washing up sinks and a lounge area undercover to chill out if it rains. Staff were super friendly and helpful and on fridays and saturdays a pizza van arrives so a night off cooking! Will definitely be back :)

Amazing!

We had a fantastic stay when we visited Knoll Farm for 3 days. On arrival we were talked through the different facilities, with enhanced Covid measures and the different pitches. The facilities were clean for the entire stay and we found the campsite to be a great base for our visits to Monkeyworld, Wareham, Knoll beach and Poole. We opted for a hill top pitch which boasted amazing views, stunning sunsets and some friendly donkeys in the next field. Both myself and my 7 year old enjoyed a very relaxing stay.

We've had a great stay at Knoll (family with children)

We've absolutely loved it at Knoll, very quiet and relaxing, really enjoyed the fire pit in the evenings. View from the campsite is amazing (guess it depends a lot where you pitch your tent). The facilities were immaculate in terms of cleaning, not sure how often they did it, but shower and toilet were very clean every time we've used them. Staff is very sociable and helpful. Best of luck with running the campsite guys!

Camping heaven

Just back from a fab 3 nights at Knoll Farm, and have had the BEST time! The crew at Knoll Farm were so hospitable and warm, and really helpful. The site is amazing with stunning views that photos don’t do justice, and loads of space to spread out and relax. The site felt well maintained and although the facilities are quite basic they’re more than adequate and kept clean with heaps of hand sanitiser etc around to help. Such a friendly, happy place and we have made some wonderful memories. Thanks Knoll Farm 🙏

Relaxed long weekend break

We spent three chilled nights at Knoll Farm and would love to come back. Excellent facilities for a site which is only open for two months, plenty of toilets and washing up facilities with an added bonus of showers. Spending one of the hottest weekends of the year meant having fresh cold water available was a godsend. We camped overlooking the heath and Corfe castle so would have been sheltered from any strong winds (which there weren't while we were there). Fire pits are available to hire per night and Nat and Darren were great in ensuring fire safety for the surrounding heathland by providing buckets of water. Amazing pizzas on Friday and Saturday nights with some wonderful jazz music on Saturday too. Knoll Farm is a great base to explore the Dorset coast, close to amazing beaches. A lovely campsite to spend as a couple, there were lots of families and some larger groups which were well behaved. Would love to come back next year.

Lovely site, friendly people, great location

We had a short (3 night) stay at Knoll Farm Campsite recently. In total there were six of us...four adults and two kids. We thoroughly enjoyed staying here...the facilities were adequate for the number of people on the site, the people running the site were friendly and helpful, and the location as a base for exploring the area was perfect. Couldn't fault it and good value.
★★★★★

Amazing few days away in a very relaxed atmosphere

We cant recommend Knoll farm campsite enough. When we arrived we were checked in and given a tour of the facilities, we were aloud to pitch where ever we wanted and found a lovely sheltered spot at the far end of the site near the trees. The staff here were extremely friendly and helpful and are doing an amazing job at keeping the place clean and tidy. If you want 5 star luxury then no this isn't the place for you, but if you want your children to run free and experience true back to nature then this place is amazing. The barn area with the piano is a great idea and kept the children entertained and I have to say this was one of the best showers I have had for a long time. The location is fantastic as you are near to so many wonderful places and we can not wait to come back next year when we will be bringing friends.

Fantastic time had by all...

This is a fantastic camp site. We went as a group of 3 families as we do every year. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the site to see how much space there was and the different options to pitch up. We were given a tour where they told us how to use the facilities, how to socially distance within the site, where the views (and sunset) were and how to manage our campfire safely. The facilities were clean and well managed. The showers were easy to use and spacious. There's an undercover seating area with piano which the kids loved. We had pizza there on the Saturday...best pizza ever! We pitched up where we had a view of Corfe Castle, and the kids were able to explore the heath. I wish we were able to stay longer as there's so much we didn't get to do: walk or ride the heath, visit Arne nature reserve, go to Knoll beach at Studland, visit Swanage on the steam train, visit Corfe castle or Wareham which has a farmer's market on Saturday mornings. There's a lovely pub (The Halfway Inn) about 5-10 mins walk down the road and a PYO the same distance. We walked to Blue Pool which is a 20-30 minute walk away, and we saw deer on the way. I can't rate the place enough and we'll definitely be going back.

Simple, soulful camping where good vibes abound

We loved the friendly and caring atmosphere and spacious feel of Knoll Farm. Nat and her merry band of helpers made us feel very welcome and had thought carefully about how to facilitate safe camping in Corona times. The kids could run free, safe from cars, and enjoyed daily trips to collect the fire wood. Add to this Nat's commitment to ensuring the site was calm and quiet by 11pm and you have a perfect site for a family holiday. The rustic shower and toilet block was charming, clean and very efficient. The collective enjoyment of stunning sunsets could not fail to fill your cup with all things good. Knoll farm is a magical place and perfectly placed to explore the plethora of beautiful spots on the Isle of Purbeck. We can't wait to go back.

A very happy stay for adults and kids alike

Just spent 6 nights here (2 adults, 2 kids) and really impressed with this campsite. Very basic but really clean toilets and showers with plenty of hot water. The staff were very friendly. Lots of space and stunning views. Enjoyed the sunsets and we even saw the moon rise over corfe castle. Lots of lovely walks in the reserve nearby. Also close to Studlands, Kimmerage and Lulworth cove - all 20 mins drive. We loved the campsite and the Isle of Purbeck and we'll be back. (Campsite is quite exposed and windy - pack a windbreaker.)

Knoll Farm was a lovely place to stay near beautiful beaches and Corfe Castle. The facilities were the cleanest of any campsite that I have ever seen. Great location and friendly relaxed atmosphere

There is plenty of space on this campsite so you don’t feel crammed in, and it is in a beautiful area. The toilet block and barn sink area are simple but well kept and maintained. The wash facilities in particular are always clean and well stocked vs other sites I’ve visited, this is maybe helped by additional portaloos to improve capacity. The pizza on a Friday & Saturday is also a great bonus, to relieve yourself of cooking responsibility! Yoga sessions are really amazing - such a bonus to get such quality guidance for free. Would definitely return.

Great facilities, welcoming and considerate hosts

This was my first time camping with my child, and my first as the only responsible adult so I was feeling a bit nervous. The campsite is well laid out with the shower block, sinks and play barn easy to reach. I asked for advice on pitching my tent and was suggested an area to try out. The weather on the second day was very stormy and unfortunately my poor tent did not survive. The hosts offered for us to use one of their spare tents for our last night. Overall the shower block was light and airy, kept clean and felt safe. The play barn was a welcome relief in the middle of the rain and my daughter and her friend loved the piano. I'm planning to rebook for next summer and try out the yoga and pizza.
★★★★★

Warm friendly welcome

We arrived in the morning and were made to feel very welcome, the owner showed us around the campsite before we pitched up, which side was the family side and where the younger campers go! They had restricted numbers with an emphasis on social distancing and everyone had plenty of space to spread out. The shower block has been a new installation, water pressure is better than at home and if you time it right there's no queue, toilets, yoga area, play area with a piano for the kids. You can use their fire pits and buy logs on site, just remember to have 2 full buckets of water per pit nearby. The staff also walked around the campsite of the evening checking everything was OK (sorry we were loud) and were very friendly. Dogs were made welcome but I'd advise a strong ground spike if you have an inquisitive Labrador (sorry again), they'll even bring them back to you if they wander (mildly embarrassing). Only critique I had was the lack of soap by the porta loo (plenty in the toilet block) would have been nice to wash hands there away from where people were filling their water containers or brushing teeth. Otherwise what an amazing place, the views out over the nature reserve are stunning and the sunset we were treated to, the picture on the camera phone doesn't do it justice. Corfe Castle is a couple of miles away and you can see it clearly. On cloudless evenings the stars are beautiful to see, especially on a Friday or Saturday night tucking into a pizza freshly made on site. We're already checking the diary and love to come back again.

Large, well maintained site made for a great weekend

Very enjoyable stay for myself and 7 teenagers! Good clean showers and main toilets. Great location and bags of room to play ball on the camping field. Only one small point which prevented a fire star review and that was we had to take out trash away. We saved it up for our last day thinking the site would deal with our recyclable waste but were advised only glass could be dealt with so we had to depart with 3 days worth of rubbish on our laps until we could find bins to recycle. We will definitely be back.
★★★☆☆

Good, but could be so much better

A nice site, pretty much just an open field. Good location within easy reach of beaches. Hygiene is what lets this site down. Even without Covid it is not hygienic. Nowhere to wash hands after using the toilets, nowhere to clean teeth apart from the same sinks designated for washing up. No hot water for any of the above. I get that it’s a bit stripped back but in this day and age it has to also be hygienic.

Great site - highly recommended

It was a first family camping trip for us and we weren't at all disappointed (or put off) by Knoll Farm. The initial greeting at reception from Tye was friendly and we received a really helpful orientation of the site. We were impressed by the cleanliness of the whole site, the toilets and showers were always clean and the regular well-being checks from the site managers were welcome. The views, especially at sunset were superb. We'll be back again for sure!

Clean friendly and relaxing environment.

We were extremely impressed by the high levels of cleanliness at the camp. The toilets and showers were regularly cleaned and there was always toilet paper. The staff were helpful and gave us a short tour on arrival. The pitches were clean and the grass was short making it easy to walk on. At nighttime the staff checked on everyone and advised people on making sure their fires were out. The scenery is amazing.

Small site with few pitches. Perfect if you are trying to escape the busy buzz of the city. If rustic is your thing then this one is perfect. We loved every second. Friendly personable staff!! Nice people. Would be even better if washing up could have warm water. See you next yeat.

Calm oasis in beautiful surroundings

Totally unforgettable experience. We could only stay one night and happened to pick the hottest day of the year, but amidst the traffic and madness on the roads and by the coast, Knoll Farm is the perfect antidote. Calm, quiet, beautiful, spacious, a little funky, eco, gently efficient, and super friendly, you can’t beat it. Thank you to the team. We’ll be back for a longer stay!

Great back to basics campsite

Lovely campsite, super clean facilities through Covid-19 & friendly owners. Showers are rustic & quirky but super clean and never queues. Great views, the site can get a bit windy as quite exposed - but not a problem if you choose your spot well. Kids can run free and not worry as cars are kept away from tents. Great to have firepits and wood available. Quiet at night when we were there.

Lovely peaceful site, glorious views.

We've not camped in 15 years, so booked a 1 night "trail run" to test if we had all the kit, etc ahead of a 5 nighter in Cornwall. The site has plenty of room so you are not crammed in. We pitched on top of the ridge and had a wonderful view down to Corfe Castle. We were blessed by the weather which was mid 20s and sunny. Spent day 1 walking to the Blue Pool (lovely to walk around but be aware it's £5 entrance per adult) and Corfe Castle and day 2 on South Beach Studland. Really loved the experience. Staff on site are very welcoming and check-in was easy. Facilities are good. Used the toilets and showers and they were clean and functional. Had to wait in queue of 5 to use a shower, but probably just a timing issue as nobody was waiting when I came out. All in all really enjoyed the experience and have booked again for late August. With Covid was a bit nervous about camping, but nothing really to worry about at Knoll Farm, you are given space.

A relaxed campsite in a beautiful setting

This was a very relaxed campsite in a beautiful setting right next to Stoborough Heath and easy access to some lovely walks. The toilets and the showers were clean and pizza onsite on the Saturday was a highlight although we didn’t know about it until they rocked up. The site is pretty exposed to the wind so bring your storm pegs. There were quite a few collapsed tents over the week (ours included)! Yoga onsite was nice extra, there were a lot more sessions than just Saturday morning, so again just ask if you’re interested. The only downside was the lack of rubbish disposal. They take recycling (cardboard, cans, glass only) and food waste, however you had to dispose of everything else yourself off-site. We had a dog with us which meant we had to take full poo bags with us when going out for the day which was a bit of a pain. The site seemed like quite a new set up so I’m sure they will add rubbish disposal in the future. That aside it was a lovely relaxed place to stay and we loved the fact that the fire pits were made out of old washing machine drums!

Great Site and Great Location

This was everything I needed in a campsite. The heathland on the moors is a welcome change of scenery, the local roads are quiet for cycling, and RSPB Arne is only a couple of miles away.

We had a lovely stay here. Beautiful views and lots of space. The facilities in the campsite were incredibly clean and the showers were lovely and hot. Nat, who ran the place, was super friendly and couldn't do enough to make us feel welcome. Thank you to Zen for helping us set up our firepit under the stars.

A Perfect Campsite

My first experience of the campsite was through the website. With a large group of 14, split between 8 tents, booking should have been complicated and confusing. Due to a well developed and easily navigated website, it was effortless. Upon arrival, I was given a warm and all the facilities were pointed out to me (despite the rain). We were allowed to pick a location to pitch and keep our cars on the field as we unloaded which was very convenient with the weather. We were even lent a mallet to help pitch. Facilities were clean and comfortable, even the portaloos has been dressed up with fairy lights! Two large barn areas offered a fantastic central point to socialise in, members of my party played the piano here and bought wood oven pizzas! The site had a toilet and washroom area, with colourful doors and artificial grass which was also spotless and comfortable. I was surprised how they managed to make a campsite toilet so cosy!? The location was great, when they mentioned a view of Corfe Castle I was expecting a distant spec but the castle is framed perfectly at the top of the hill. We enjoyed a wonderful sunset here. The owners have a relaxed, friendly and considerate approach to management that allowed us to play music and make loud noise until 11pm, at which point they came round and gave us a friendly reminder of the curfew and how to contact them if another party was making too much noise. Pragmatic and unobtrusive. There was also a clear consideration towards being ecological. Other perks included yoga sessions in the morning, fire pit hire and the ability to buy wood logs. All for just £10 per person! We will be back soon.

Nice & friendly

We had a nice camping trip to knoll farm. The staff was very welcoming and explained about all the amenities. The showers & toilet were mostly clean and there wasn't much queuing. We really likes the fact that there were no set 'spots' for camping and you can pick your location (high/low close to the showers/further afield). The camp itself has nice views of Corfe castle (a bit from afar) and some paths around it and was very easy to find. Overall a very pleasant experience - would recommend for a family looking to camp in Dorset.

Friendly and clean campsite in great location

Our group of 3 adults spent an enjoyable 4 nights in Knoll Farm campsite in July 2020. It’s a lovely site with beautiful views, in a great location for exploring Dorset. Lulworth is about 20 minutes away. Studland the same. There’s also a pub within a 15-minute walk. The facilities are simple, but clean. There are 5 loos and 4 showers in the main block, plus a couple of portaloos dotted around the site. The showers are hot, with decent water pressure for a campsite. We didn’t have to queue at all (but saw some short, fast-moving queues while we were there.) There’s lots of hand sanitiser available, plus cleaning spray so you can clean as you go. Social distancing is also encouraged. The site has fire pits to hire and wood to buy should you want a campfire - you’ll need cash. We were able to cook on our fire pit, which added to the experience. The site also offers wood-fired pizza on a Friday and Saturday evening. Check-in was easy. Darren, and his son, Zen, gave us a quick tour before leaving us to our own devices to choose a pitch. You’re able to drive up to your pitch to unpack / pack your stuff, but cars need to be kept in the car park for safety. When we were there, the site was peaceful, filled with groups of families and friends enjoying a relaxed time together. It’s family-friendly but not kiddy-centric so also good for adult-only groups. All in all, a great campsite that we’ll be recommending to friends.

Simply Perfect Break

If you are looking for a stunning location, with loads of local things to do this is the site for you! A clean and organised campsite, surrounded by peace and quiet. Well kept facilities and even fresh pizza at the weekend 🍕 A short drive to Durdle Door, Swanage, The Studland, Corfe Castle and many more... We will definitely be back to stay again this summer.

Beautiful location, friendly vibe

We loved the location, views, and proximity to Studland beaches. Very friendly and helpful hosts, and excellent facilities. Our stay was a little spoilt by large group of people - around 8 tents- pitched right next to us, noisy and playing music til midnight. We had met up with 2 friends but we’re exhausted and wanted a rest, early nights. This may be a result of lockdown but we suspect this site has a reputation for large groups and partying. Old farts like us prefer somewhere quieter and more peaceful.

A beautiful one night stay on a friendly and clean campsite

My friend and I went to Knoll Farm Campsite for one night. We arrived and were shown by a very friendly lady around the site, and were able to choose a position that we liked. We felt at home from the minute we arrived and felt immediately welcome. We chose to go right at the top of the feild that had beautiful veiws from all angles - you can see Corfe Castle which is stunning! The campsite offers a firepit and firewood that we purchased for the evening - it really made our stay. The toilets and facilities were brilliant, really clean and well thought out. The communal area was a great addition and if we had stayed longer we definitely would have used it! We went to The Half Way Inn for dinner which is a 15 min walk down the road. It was lovely and would definitely reccomend. The surrounding area is peaceful for walks and Wareham, Corfe and Swanage are within driving distance - they were really lovely towns and were worth the visit. Thank you so much for such a brilliant stay, we will definitely be back for a bit longer next time! Ella and Hattie.

Fresh air and no stress

So. First things first, I am not a fan of camping (possibly the world's biggest understatement), so I booked with trepidation. However none of the things that I fear the most were a problem. A warm welcome awaited us, along with the total freedom to pick our own spot in the huge field. This was not an exercise in cramming people in, so much space. The toilets were clean, very clean and showers also well kept (no mean feat in a field). So this rather anxious camper had a great time with teenage boys. Great base for exploring. Thanks team, I would even go back.

Fantastic campsite in a massive field, beautiful surroundings and relaxed atmosphere.

First off, this site is off-grid with electricity all from solar. Therefore, there are no cold places (no fridge, freezer or phone charging) and waste disposal is minimal as they only accept clean metal and glass. This means you take your rubbish home with you. If these small obstacles are acceptable you get an amazing camping experience. 1) The topography of the site means you can camp on the ridge and have amazing views of Poole Harbour but as it's on a slight slope progressing into 45 degrees is suitable mainly for groups of one tent. If you are one tent or possibly two, these pitches are fantastic. After the slope, the ground levels off and groups of tents can find large islands of flat ground. As they are islands, groups are spread out with plenty of space between. 2) Toilets are clean with "normal" toilets in the toilet block and clean portaloos around the site, nearer your tent. 3) Showers were lovely and clean 4) Fires off the ground. Good, seasoned wood is sold at £5 and we found it better to chop it smaller with an axe. 5) Big open sky which is dark enough to see the milky way 6) Covered barn with tables and hay bales for escaping the rain or for being social. I feel this area would be very good for those camping as a single-family as you have the chance to mix with others at a place that is not during washing up. It also has a lovely sounding grand piano. 7) Quiet later so great for families 8) lovely friendly staff. I will be visiting again!

Lovely Campsite with beautiful views

Very friendly and welcoming. Lovely views from the hills. Beautiful sunset. Toilet and showers clean, actually the entire site was spotless. Good pressure in the showers. We only had one night there but wished we could have stayed longer. Will definitely return if staying in the area. The only small negative thing is that they rent fire pits and in the evening it got really smoky and stunk, I had to lock myself in the tent because it was burning my eyes.

If Calsberg did campsites...

This ticks the most boxes from any camping experience we've done. Great location with stunning almost panoramic views of Poole harbour and Corfe castle (and sunset if you're lucky)....vast open field with various types of pitches to choose from.....warm welcome and relaxed vibe without some of the overbaring campsite rules that can sometimes feel oppressive .....decent clean facilities.....firepits & firewood available to rent/buy.....it never felt overcrowded or overly noisy......loads of activities to do in the local area including stunning beaches, walkable pub, and fruit picking on the door step.....the field backs onto a nature reserve with wildlife and nice walks.....the field is short grass that dries quickly if it rains..... The only thing that would improve it in my opinion is offering more thorough recycling and waste disposal, as we had to take our own bin bag full of waste to Wareham dump. Overall though, very hard to fault and we'll definitely be back next year. P.s. top of the ridge is the best spot by far!

Gorgeous views

This is the loveliest campsite location I have stayed in to date with stunning views all around. The couple running the site couldn't be more friendly and I loved that there were no cars allowed on the campsite itself. The toilets and showers were kept unbelievably clean and always plenty of proper hand sanitiser. Fire pits and logs were also very welcome. Two areas for improvement would be (i) a freezer to refreeze ice blocks as by day 3, nothing was cold in my cool box; and (ii) rubbish bin facilities as I did not enjoy finding places to dispose of our sack of rubbish everyday. Other than that, a great spot to camp.

All round views are stunning. Showers and toilets all open to air and made of wood so no smells and constantly cleaned which was sooo nice! Hosts very present, but not at all intrusive. Great balance. Managed a yoga session with Nat, so needed that! 🙏🏼 Once you work out you can drop rubbish in bins at south beach or middle beach when out for the day it’s easy. A great relaxing campsite with amazing views

We have just spent two fantastic nights in Knoll Farm. This is a great, peaceful and clean campsite with a hippie vibe, surrounded by nature reserves and with amazing views all around. We loved the nice decor touches around the reception area and the toilet and shower area. The barn with straw seats and a piano is a fantastic idea to relax and meet people if it rains or when it is too hot. The beautiful sunsets over the hill and the clear sky to watch stars were a real treat. The owners are really nice and relaxed. They give you good tips on what to do in the area. They advised us to cycle to Arne nature reserve and relax on a little beach looking onto Poole Harbour. Stunning area, very close to the campsite! We also kayaked in the nice river in Wareham, just 5 min drive. The campsite is very close to Corfe Castle, knoll beach and Durdle door. Gorgeous places! We would highly recommend Knoll farm if you are a nature lover.

Awesome friendly little camp

I had two nights at Knoll Farm recently and it was literally a breath of fresh air. No stress and a sense of freedom. It's really well organised with Nat and Daz being very hot at keeping things clean given the current circumstances. It's all very simple, more than enough showers, toilets and water areas along with a large communal area and large fire pit to sit around in the evening. There is also a place for yoga sessions. If you're after your own space, there are also a number of individual fire pits available to rent. The area is set up with free spirit in mind, fairy lights and lanterns help the destressing experience, pick and choose where to set up depending on the view you want. There are some incredible sunsets to be experienced. As for the location, it's off the beaten track so no traffic noise, but close enough to the local stunning town of Wareham with a variety of shops, pubs and other things to see and do. I would heavily recommend a visit to Knoll Farm.

Welcoming and best view from a tent !

We had a very warm welcome from Nat and a guided tour of the facilities. After that we pitched our tent on the hill and enjoyed the amazing view of the surrounding countryside and Corfe Castle. The site was spotless - everything was cleaned regularly and supplies of sanitiser/loo roll etc topped up. The night skies were another plus for us - Milky Way very clear. Wonderful weekend spent in a beautiful, calm, clean and chilled campsite.

We visited Knoll Farm Campsite on a sunny weekend in Mid-July, and were delighted to find the campsite just as pretty and spacious as the photos online. We pitched at the top of the field and had a fantastic view across the field's natural amphitheatre and the rolling hills, to Corfe Castle and beyond. Our hosts were helpful and friendly and the site had a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, with everyone being gently asked to keep the noise down after 110..00pm. All Covid guidelines are being followed, with Gin based sanitisers and regular cleaning, and there are lovely touches like decorated loos and a piano in the barn. We had a great weekend, thank you, and will definitely recommend the campsite to friends.

Scenic, helpful host, nice toliets & showers

Went mid week in July2020, covid19 precautions in place (distance markers & hand sanitizer). We camped 1 night. Pitching area was very much just an open grass field that had a ridge at the back. Was able to plonk tent down where ever we fancied. We manage to get on the ridge where there are great 360 views. The top ridge seemed to be a popular choice which we might not of been able to pick if it was busier. However we had enough space there and pitching below isnt a deal breaker. Was lucky enough that whilst i was making my morning tea i heard several hooves galloping, looking up to see some horses charging up the bank on the other side of the fence to me. There were no designated fire pits so caution was advised by host and water buckets pointed out. The host was also camped at reception and sold some camping essentials that some people may want.

What a Brilliant site! Friendly family greet you, walk you round the amenities and suggest best points for pitching up for fantastic views of corfe castle. Take your vehicle to the pitch point then park in a spacious car park, no vehicles to stay on the site which makes for an excellent open area. Fire pits are allowed and supplied very cheap making for a great evening sat round them. Toilets and showers are super clean. Sanitiser is supplied at the entrance and in every shower/toilet, including a sanitiser de mister enabling you to wipe down the surfaces before you use anything. Great place - Shame about the noise till the early hours

We really liked this site, well managed, great hosts, great facilities and stunning views. Really enjoyed staying here except there were large groups of 20 somethings who were meeting up and staying up till the early hours and one group brought their music too which could be heard at the other side of the field. If I wanted music and loud laughter till 2am with my weekend away I’d go to the town centre not a field in the middle of nowhere. No social distancing by the groups or concern for others trying to sleep after 11pm. Disappointed to end the day like this after having such lovely walks and such a peaceful time during the day.
