About Woodyhyde

Suitable For

Tents, dogs, groups – yes. Caravans – no.

There's no better way to explore the stunning Jurassic coast than by ambling along the South West Coast Path. The long, sandy blue-flag beach at Studland Bay is just 10 minutes’ drive from Woodyhyde, and the entire Jurassic Coast, including the lovely Lulworth Cove and the famous Durdle Door rocks, are within easy reach. The ruins of Corfe Castle are in the nearby village of the same name, though cream teas in town may be even more popular. Putlake Farm (01929 422917) at Langton Matravers, offers interactive animal adventures including bottle-feeding lambs and goats. There’s also an indoor soft-play zone, outdoor play area and café. Family tickets are £18.50.

Food & Drink

Dorset cream teas are available everywhere, including the particularly welcoming National Trust Tea Room in Corfe Castle. Alternatively, take a walk over Ballard Down, passing Old Harry Rocks and winding up at the bottom of Studland village at the award-winning Bankes Arms Country Inn (01929 450225). They serve bar snacks and meals of fresh local produce, and a range of ales from small independent breweries, including their own microbrewery.

Family Friendly

Waving at steam trains and choosing which ice creams to eat have always been our favourite pastimes. Timeless, traditional Woodyhyde Campsite can offer both. Sometimes even at the same time.

Can't fault the place

I was concerned given some of the review of the campsite but I didn't find any of the issues mentioned in those reviews. The place was clean, quiet after 10pm and the shop well stocked and reasonably priced. Kids had a wonderful time. I honestly can't think of any negatives.

Simply Great

Simply a great site, a Great location and easy reach to all of the Purbeck area, A simple walk to the steam railway station. and trains passing the site every hour to wave to, A nice walk to Corfe Castle around the back common, this was a great experience and place to stay with all you need on-site, fabulous atmosphere with other campers if only we could control the weather

First camping in 35yrs and I wasn't disappointed!

I picked this site despite some negative reviews that have been left and I'm very glad I did. I pitched on the far side of the large field 3 and the views were great. This is a very family orientated site but it's also a very peaceful site, which is just what I was looking for. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the shop has most items you may need in a hurry. It's also open for longer than the stated hours on the door. :-) The toilet blocks are cleaned several times a day and I only experienced one shower that was a bit on the cool side in my whole week stay. Plenty of large sinks for washing up and plenty of freshwater taps around the whole site. I will definitely return to Woodyhyde as there is still plenty for me to see and do in the area.

We had the BEST time at Woodyhyde

We honestly had the best time camping at Woodyhyde campsite. We arrived just after 9pm on the Friday night which was no problem at all. Reception was still open (just) and we were told about the different fields. We went for the dog friendly field :) and we found a great little spot. The campsite was full of families with dogs so the atmosphere was lovely. Toilets and showers were clean and there were outside sinks for pots and pans too which were also spotless. The shop offers everything in case you forget anything. Great campsite which is also super close to Corfe Castle which is in the most beautiful village (small town) too! Perfect!

Getting There

From the village of Corfe Castle, take the A351 towards Swanage. A mile outside Corfe, look out for the ‘Woodyhyde’ sign and turning on the right, then follow the track under the bridge and into the campsite.

Take the train to Wareham, then bus 142 (not very regular, unfortunately) to Harman's Cross. The bus will stop at the top of Valley Road, and the campsite is about 350 metres down the track from the main road.
