Authentic farm camping in rural Dorset

If your campsite’s called Brewery Farm then it’s only right that it’s situated right opposite a good pub. In fact, it’s the farm that came first; named after an 18th-century farmer’s son who brewed ale here and brought it out to the field workers as a wholesome, tipsy treat. The successful brewing company that it spawned, the Hall and Woodhouse Brewery, has now moved to the pretty Georgian town of Blandford Forum, 20 minutes away (tours available) but the pub across the road still serves their finest selection on tap. So really, you owe it to the history of the campsite to pop across for a pint. After all, it would be rude not to.

Behind the main farm buildings, Brewery Farm's camping meadow sprawls, its edges gnawed by a herd of cattle that scatter themselves around the adjacent field. A gleaming brand new washroom block has also been built, including modern showers, toilets and a washing up area. Wi-Fi is available too and caravanners have electrical hook-ups to connect to.

Across the meadow and around the corner is Brewery Farm’s farm shop, selling local goods and their own beef and pork. It’s a good place to stock up if you plan on having a barbecue or for crafting your perfect picnic for the beach. It takes just over half an hour to drive to the south coast, where Dorset’s Jurassic Coast unfolds in all its glory. Ogle at the arch of Durdle Door, puff on the old steam train from Swanage to Corfe Castle, or kick-back with your picnic on the beaches around Weymouth. Whatever you do, just make sure you’re back in time for last orders.

Non Electric Grass Tent Pitch
We liked the warm welcome, the clean, hot showers and 'The Fox' over the road to retreat to when the weather got stormy!

A very quiet campsite with lovely views across farmland. Good, clean facilities. Excellent showers for families. Three bathrooms which include shower, loo and basin all kept in very good order. A stones throw from a very well stocked shop which made it easy to tarvel light food wise. Lovely pub just over the road with a good menu. Some fab walks and Geocaching. Despite there being no kids activities ie playground etc this worked out well for us. We had a complete digital detox and left devices at home, spent time playing games as a family. Great time had by all. We will be back.

We didn’t choose the best weather for it, but a lovely site in a beautiful area. We enjoyed the big shower rooms perfect for two small children and lots of hot water for washing up with a view!

What a gem of a campsite! We've spent a fantastic few days here. Set on a working farm, this small campsite is a wonderful spot to get away from it all. Due to its small size and rural location, the only noise you can hear is the rumble of a tractor and the bleating of the sheep. The shower rooms were new, clean and spacious, with plenty of hot water. Despite the site being relatively full, we didn't once have to queue to use them. There is also a washing up area housed in the same block, with room for a number of people to use it at the same time. A real bonus for us was being able to have a campfire outside the tent too, really enjoyed sitting out at night. As the site is so rural, the starry sky was something to behold! There isn't a fridge or freezer for food storage, but with the very well stocked village shop/post office next door, this wasn't a problem. We had a great meal in the pub across the way. Lots of walks nearby, and the owner kindly lent us a walking guidebook to use during our stay. There are so many things to do in the area. We were easily able to visit Durdle Door, Lulworth Cove, Dorchester and the Cerne Abbas giant using the campsite as a base. We thought the area was just beautiful, and are looking forward to visiting again.
