About Holsome Park Camping

Suitable For

Tents, couples, families, groups and dogs (max of 2 dogs per tent unless arranged otherwise) – yes. Campervans, caravans and motorhomes – no.

Amble around the Avon valley with excellent footpaths right from the campsite's doorstep or drive to nearby attractions including the Pennywell Farm Activity Centre (01364 642023) or Paignton (01803 697500) and Dartmoor Zoo's (01752 837645). For something more cultural, it is a 25 minute drive to the National Trust's Saltram House (01752 333500) and a little further to medieval Cotehele (01579 351346) and Buckland Abbey (01822 853607). For many, though, the coast is the most obvious attraction. It's 10 miles to the nearest beaches, including Bigbury, Bantham, South Sands, Blackpool Sands, East Soar Cove, and Slapton.

Food & Drink

Campers can purchase meat, burgers, bacon, sausages and eggs right from the farm – BBQs permitted off the ground. The nearest pubs are a bit of a trek away, with the excellent New Inn (01548 821326), in Moreleigh, over 3 miles away and around 10 minutes in the car. The locals are worth the journey though. The Cott Inn (01803 863777) at Dartington, and the Ship (01752 892565) or Anchor (01752 690388) at Ugborough are all worth a visit.

Stunning sunsets, great facilities

This place was gorgeous, with views over the hills where the sun sets. The amenities were modern and worked well. I saw complaints in a couple of reviews about shower facilities but we had none. The showers are nice and hot, and are on a timer to help save water (like in a swimming pool) but you can press it as many times as you like. The water did sometimes very briefly change temperature when toilets were flushed in the block, but if you shower at a quieter time it's no problem. The owners were very friendly. No complaints!

Quiet location with beautiful views

We stayed for 2 nights over the August Bank Holiday. The pitches were spacious and we had EHU. It was a lovely site with the normal facilities which were kept clean and tidy. The extra bonus were the farm walk and the chicken and sheep feeding which the kids loved.

Really lovely, clean site with excellent facilities. Very family friendly. The owners and their children are lovely. The owners kids run a little shop which is great, there's a walking tour of the farm and a chance to feed the animals. More than enough room for kids to play without them interfering with others. Swings and slides in the field too. Would certainly recommend it. The only thing I'd improve is the recycling facilities but I haven't knocked the star rating down for that as I don't know if this is down to the site or the local facilities.

Glorious views

Lovely spot on the edge of Dartmoor, views are stunning! Site is a field on the owners farm with good shower/toilet facilities. Covered washing up area and access to fridge & freezer. There is charging for mobile phones in secure lockers but take plenty of change; cost £1 for 30 minutes. BBQs and fires are allowed which is a bonus. My only quibble is with the description on Cool Camping - the site is far from ‘perfectly flat!’ If you have an electric hook up or pitch in the middle of the field it is flat but it does slope away towards the boundary hedge.

Perfect family camping

Really nice quiet location. Lovely for kids. Great loo and shower blocks, and shop run by owner's kids. One thing - Pitches favour those with electric hook ups, so, as humble no-frills camping folk, we ended up down at the bottom of the hill, which meant we were sloping back down a bit, but all in all a lovely experience, with thankfully lovely weather! Watching the sun set over Dartmoor is the highlight of every day. Be prepared to do lots of reversing back up country lanes - Devon ones are so narrow.
