About Westland Farm

Suitable For

Families, couples, old and young.  We have a selection of camping options and bed and breakfast making it an idea place for family get togethers, with younger families camping and older members of the family staying in the farmhouse bed and breakfast or one of the glamping options.   We welcome tents, campervans, caravans (on the small separate caravan club 5cl site only), all kinds of groups – yes. Dogs are accepted (although not in the yurt) but as this is a working farm with livestock in all the surrounding fields the owners prefer dog owners to contact directly before booking. This is to express the importance of keeping dogs either on a lead or under close control at all times.

Exmoor Zoo (01598 76335) is close by, as is Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park (01271 882486). The beautiful towns of Ilfracombe, Woolacombe, Lynton and Lynemouth all offer plenty to explore.

Food & Drink

The Black Venus Inn (01598 763251) in Challacombe, a 5-minute drive away, has superb home-cooked food in nice surroundings. The Old Station Inn (01598 763520) at Blackmoor Gate is also worth a look for its fine home-cooked food and atmospheric surroundings – good kids play area too. The Pyne Arms (01271 850055) at East Down offers locally produced food, some supplied by Westland Farm itself. If you’re looking to self cater, check out Barsntaple’s famous indoor Pannier Market (01271 379084), offering fresh local goods, flowers, crafts and more.  There is also a well stocked farm shop just down the road from Westland Farm  They are happy to take orders over the phone and deliver them here ready for your arrival or when you get home after a long day out.

Fantastic hosts!

Westland farm is a welcoming and easy going campsite. Our children loved helping at the barn and went daily to help look after the animals (they say it is the best campsite that they have ever visited). We are so grateful to the hosts for the amazing experiences that our children had at Westland. Westland also has fantastic facilities! The shower facilities are great, the best we have seen with large, clean, warm shower rooms. The washing up view was incredible! We also made good use of the drying space. We loved the freedom to pitch where we wanted and had a campfire on 4 of our 7 nights. On clear nights the night sky was awesome. Whilst we loved the facilities and the hosts, we found the North Devon weather a challenge. We really needed our wellies in August and both families (experienced campers) had to bail out our tents. Westland felt very exposed and it is definitely worth noting that you should ensure that you have sufficient pegs and guy ropes.

Excellent quiet spot with plenty of space

We needed somewhere to stay that was somewhere near Ilfracombe, so that we could get a boat to Lundy Island for a trail race. Westland Farm ended up being perfect and I booked the Drovers Hut and Yurt for 6 of us, where we could catch up with each other, cook and be comfortable. Barnstaple wasn't too far the other direction, where we foraged for Chinese take-away one evening. In terms of facilities, we easily kept warm using the wood burners and the showers were nice. We didn't use the sauna or hot tubs in the end, but Will was around to help light these if we needed. At the end of the weekend, we all agreed we might forgo the racing and stay a bit longer to enjoy the immediate area!

Absolute bliss

We came back two weeks ago from the absolutely beautiful Westland Farm. We all left feeling completly rested and refreshed. My children age 8 and 10 enjoyed the space and the freedom of the campsite and exploring the stream and the woods. Nicky and her husband were warm and friendly and nothing was to much trouble. We stayed in the gorgeous drover hut, my children learnt to light fires to cook our tea, although there is a little hob. The showers were beautiful and clean. The naughty calf was a massive highlight of the holiday too. I cannot recommend this campsite enough, the owners have thought of absoultly everything. It's clean and the views are spectacular, especially the clear skies at night. We all cannot wait to go back xx

great site, great area, fine hosts

Westland farm is an excellent site, with lots of space between pitches. The hot showers and good quality toilets are very good, and are welcome to warm up in as nights get cooler, or a long day outside! There are also fridges, freezers, washing machines and charging points available. Children love it and can run around freely and safely, and they enjoy looking for eggs in the barn and seeing the chickens, pigs and piglets. Superb dark skies, and I got some very good astrophotography pictures. The surrounding area is stunning, and superb for sightseeing, walking, birdwatching, as well as a great location to be based for any kind of water activity. Andy and Nicky, the owners, are very good hosts and have worked very hard to make the site stand out. The ONLY down side is the proximity of the road that runs alongside the site, but other than that, highly recommended and five stars!

An excellent proper campsite with excellent facilities

What can I say, our third year camping at Westland Farm & I'm sure we'll be back. Facilities are superb, showers & toliet block clean & warm. A shared fridge for a few bits & milk for the important morning cuppa. Nicky & Andrew are tremendous owners, they include the children with feeding pigs, chickens & calves. And real fires are allowed. It's not a campsite if you can't have a campfire! Great beaches nearby, great pubs for families & lots of great walking. I would give Westland Farm top marks, even in the rain! Wonderful.
