Longlands Glamping

UK England South West England Devon

Longlands Farm, Coulsworthy, Combe Martin, North Devon EX34 0PD

Luxury safari tent glamping in a class all of its own, set in a North Devon valley with breathtaking views all the way to the coast.

Armed with little more than a collection of Cool Camping guidebooks and their cherished 1965 Splittie, Bella, Bugsie and the kids hit the open road with a view to permanently escaping the hustle and bustle of London. Over the course of three years, the family travelled up to the Outer Hebrides (twice!), down to Devon, took weekend trips to the New Forest, and enjoyed a wonderful summer travelling through France, all the while making notes describing what made each site special and contemplating the idea of opening their very own glamping getaway.

When the family decided to leave London in November 2010, they began looking for a location with some very specific requirements: conveniently close to the sea (to be able to sneak in a lunchtime surf!), breathtaking views and plenty of space to create the ultimate rural retreat. Months passed before Bella and Bugsie locked eyes on a delightful destination on the western border of Exmoor, and only five minutes from the picturesque coastal village of Combe Martin. In July 2012, that destination became Longlands – and we think you’ll love it...

The accommodation at Longlands is as equally picturesque as its natural surroundings. Five thoughtfully positioned safari tents (sleeping six) come furnished with vintage leather sofas, luxurious linen, and a blanket box filled with family-friendly games. At the heart of each identical lodge is a fully-equipped kitchen with a wood-burning stove, keeping the cosy interior warm in all weathers whilst also providing a means of cooking. Not finished there, each country-inspired abode has its very own shower room (and separate en-suite), with flushing loo and basin, plus a wide range of natural aromatherapy products. Skip down the path to the luxury hot tub area, too, and you'll truly learn the meaning of relaxation.

After spending a memorable day exploring North Devon and its many delights, Longlands is a comforting enclave to return to each night. Bella and Bugsie have done their hosting homework, pre-empting every need. The ‘Longlands Larder’ is testimony to that, with hard-to-resist, local produce (milk, jam, chutney and cheese) stocked 24-hours a day. Guests can also dine on their private barbecue, overlooking the sheltered valley and rolling hills all the way to the sea. Allow your days to float by effortlessly, whilst enjoying the simplicity of field living – albeit in a luxury canvas lodge.

The Owner Says

We are thrilled to have been awarded GOLD in the South West Tourism awards.  This follows our GOLD award in the Devon Tourism awards and our Gold award from VisitEngland in their Glamping Accreditation Scheme.  And if multi award winning is not enough to convince you to book here is a little more information that we hope will do the trick:

Five Luxurious Safari Lodges

Nestling is a secret valley, overlooking the North Devon coast, on the western border of Exmoor National Park and only 20 minutes from the ‘Best Beach in Britain’!

All fully equipped and beautifully furnished. Every detail considered, nothing overlooked, everything included!
Each lodge sleeps up to 6 people and we are happy to welcome up to 2 dogs.

Everything Included

From firewood to fizz, coffee to conditioner, lemons to loo paper: we have tried to think of everything to make your stay as comfortable as possible. You should only have to bring clothes and a toothbrush.

Uno! Check Mate! Triple Word Score! World Domination!

Put away the gadgets and enjoy a game of Monopoly, Scrabble or Uno! The blanket box, filled with our favourite games, and the three seater leather vintage chesterfield sofa provide entertainment & comfort, whilst you bask in the warmth of the wood burner.

 Cook up a Feast

At the heart of the lodge is our wood burning stove: it will keep the lodge warm in all weathers, and provide a means of cooking, either on top, as you would on a hob, or in its spacious oven compartment. There is even a slot for warming your plates! We also provide a small gas ring so you can enjoy a cup of coffee, tea, or hot chocolate (all included within the lodge) without having to fire up the stove.

Wash away the cares of the day

Each lodge has its own en-suite shower room and separate en-suite wash room, with flushing loo and basin. Hot water for the shower, sink and basin is provided by a wood burning boiler, that also ensures the shower room is warm as toast! We provide all your bath linen, plus a gorgeous range of natural aromatherapy bathroom products.

 A great night’s sleep

Snuggle into a warm bed and under a thick duvet. Enjoy the feel of luxurious White Company Egyptian Cotton bed linen. Not a sleeping bag or roll mat in sight! This is Glamorous Camping after all! Be lulled to sleep by the babble of the stream, the wind in the trees, or the patter of rain on the canvas roof. Hear the owls calling to each other. Breathe in that fresh air and sleep soundly. Sweet dreams!

Sit back, put your feet up and pour a glass of wine.

Watch the sun set on the sea or the stars twinkling in the night sky, or the weather racing up the valley. The large deck area at the front of the lodge has a sofa, table and chairs so you can sit back and enjoy the amazing views! There is also a private BBQ area above each lodge, complete with Kauai fireball, bench and picnic table.

 Take time out from cooking

Let us cook for you: Freshly baked bread & pastries, pies & pasties, scrumptious suppers and delicious desserts. Just place your order by 8pm the night before and collect from the Larder shop the next day. Simply delicious made deliciously simple!

 Discover Longlands

We have 17 acres of beautiful countryside for you to enjoy at Longlands, including meadows, ancient woods and streamside walks to discover & explore. We even have our own boating lake complete with our boats Oxford & Cambridge so you can enjoy your very own boat race.  The lake is stocked with rainbow trout. Why not borrow a rod and try to catch your own supper!
The lakeside meadow is perfect for rounders and there is also a football goal and cricket net. Under cover we have table tennis and there are books & games in our on site shop.  We also have giant chess, a netball hoop & a basket ball hoop.  So score a goal, hit a run, shoot a hoop or check mate!

So Many Adventures to be had

Meet the Beast of Exmoor. Swim with Sea Lions. Spot red deer. Meet Exmoor ponies. Walk on golden sands. Surf some waves: long board, short board, body board or no board! Leap into the sea. Go rock pooling. Hunt for sea glass. Weave through wooded valleys. Meander over the Exmoor. Count the wild goats in the Valley of the Rocks. Climb the coastal paths.
