Beautiful location with sea views

We had a lot of fun camping at Ryn Gwari. The views of the sea were amazing and the campsite was small, friendly, clean and quiet. Beccie was very sweet and checked on us a few times. The facilities are basic but very clean and actually quite fun. The shower is open air, but very private within a wooden cubicle and the toilets are composting toilets. It was a wonderful location if you like hiking straight from your tent and we walked to the local carn and standing stones. Beautiful. Pack your walking boots!

Response from Ryn Gwari Farm

Thanks for your review Susannah. I’m so pleased you had a good time with us and got out and enjoyed the local walks. See you again maybe!

Back to basics

The site was quiet with an amazing view as the sun went down. The 2 composting toilets and 1 open top shower did bring you back to the basics and we liked that! The hand washing water by the toilet ran very low at one point but gel was also available. There was a short walk to the pub. Beccie looked in on us and made sure we had what we needed. I would happily stay there again.

What no sawdust?

This campsite is exactly what it says on the recyclable tin, very rustic , basic and eco friendly. The view, when it wasn't foggy was lovely and it was quiet with only 8 groups camping in the field. The downsides for us were the difficulty in actually accessing the site; it was very narrow, uphill and potholed with loose stones. We do have an average sized motorhome but other campers with T5s said that they had the same problem. Compost toilets need sawdust and loo roll which often ran out and the steps were disintegrating so actually getting to them was dodgy. Good points; outdoor shower was surprisingly hot, standing stone circle and pool nearby was great for wild swimming. Would I come again? Probably not. This site relies on the view and it's just not that great if it's raining, windy and foggy, but that's the chance you take. Beckie was very nice, she has a children's nursery on the site so is often about in the day.

Thanks for your review Lisette. The track was resurfaced on Saturday, it has certainly taken the strain this summer! Beccie

Simply Pitch Perfect

With no interrupted views of the Atlantic perfect pitch to bed down I rate this as one of my all time favourite camp spots to watch the Milky Way. Becky was seamlessly easy and welcoming and finding our home for the night was super easy. Thank you we will come again.

Getting There

From the Mount Misery Roundabout on the A30, just past Penzance, turn right on to the A3071, signposted for St Just. After six or seven miles you reach St Just. Pass through the town staying on the road and at the bottom of a steep hill, there are two right hand turns separated by a pottery. Take the one that goes to the left of the pottery; No-Go-By Hill. Follow this for just over half a mile until you see a sign on the right for Ryn Gwari Farm.

The nearest train station is at Penzance from where you can hop aboard the A17 Atlantic Cruiser bus towards Pendeen. The closest bus stop is after St Just, about a ten-minute walk from site. The same route can take you to St Ives and be used to return after walks on the South West Coast Path.
