Treveague Farm Campsite

Saint Austell, Cornwall, England

With three beaches within reach, camping in Cornwall doesn't get much better than Treveague Farm

Family-friendly pastures in divine countryside, within easy reach of three sandy coves, Treveague Farm has everything a really good seaside campsite needs. So it's no surprise that campers who pitch up here for the first time in the height of summer and stand around taking in the big sea views are inevitably back the next year too. Once you find a place like Treveague you're sure to remember it.

Spread across three meadows, with glorious sea views in two directions, this is the place to come for a proper coastal stay. When the wind blows it can be an exposed location, so you might want to opt for a space by the hedgerows rather than a front-row view, but the campsite’s open setting really lends itself to families who want space to spread out and let the kids loose. The pitches average a comfortable 95 square meters (yes, someone went out and measured them), so, even with 100 pitches in total, it’s impossible to feel hemmed in.

While kids gravitate to the fort-shaped play area and make new friends, adults enjoy fresh coffee from the café. But the beaches are the main attraction. The village of Gorran Haven is a 10 minute walk away and has a good dog-friendly beach for campers with pooch in tow (there are a few village shops for provisions, plus fish and chips and a Post Office). It’s an even easier stroll, though, down to Hemmick Beach and not much further to the clear blue waters of Vault. The calf-grinding walk back up to camp is always a great excuse for a generous scoop of the Cornish ice cream they serve in the campsite shop too.

Treveague Campsite is an idyllic camping and caravan site located on a southern peninsula named Gorran in the heart of the Roseland Heritage Coast in Cornwall. With two spectacular sea views and short walk from multiple beaches, this is the perfect holiday for those wishing to take a break and breath in the sea air.  Our average pitch size is 95 square meters meaning you have a huge amount of space to spread out in,  even if social distancing remains in force for the 2021 season. The on site cafe and restaurant mean that an array of locally sourced tea, coffee, breakfast, snacks and dinners are always on hand from friendly staff, with a cosy and relaxed dining area to sit back and rest your weary feet after a long day on the beach! The campsite is split into four fields so there is plenty of space, with clean bathrooms, warm showers and washing facilities located in central toilet block. The campsite prides itself on catering to campers particular needs, including disabilities and allergies, so feel free to chat to one of the members of the team about your specific needs during booking. The campsite is also family friendly and welcomes well behaved dogs (there are plenty of dog friendly beaches nearby). Spectacular sunsets bring in the evening and as we are located on a peninsula the stargazing is excellent. Our heated shower and toilet block is designed with campers in mind including separate disabled facilities. We have a ladies dressing room with power sockets, free hair dryer, mirrors and a safe baby changing area. A laundry and drying room for boots and coats, along with a washing up area equipped with a freezer (for ice blocks only), fridges, power sockets and a microwave. We are campers ourselves we love the outdoors and our first wish is for you to have a fantastic, relaxing and fun holiday, to share the amazing scenery that makes Cornwall so beautiful. If a break in the Cornish sun is beckoning, please do make a booking or send an enquiry, we would love to see you!
Nearby attractions
Picturesque Cornish villages nearby include Gorran Haven and Mevagissy, and other points of interest include Dodmans Point and Caerhays Castle amongst others. A public footpath runs past the campsite and the South West Coastal Path is only minutes away. Of the beaches, Hemmick is the closest (10–15 minutes’ walk), but Gorran Haven has more facilities, it also boasts an ancient harbour. There’s also the stunning Vault Beach, though this is a longer walk. Inland, The Lost Gardens of Heligan (01726 845100) are worth a visit – home to over 200 varieties of fruit, vegetables and herbs, though most notable as an imaginative and intriguing space to explore – a real Cornish jungle if ever there was one. The world famous Eden Project (01726 811911) is also half an hour away by car. For more coastal fun, head further west and along to the Roseland Peninsula. As well as a stomp along the South West Coastal Path, take your snorkelling gear and wetsuit and be sure to schedule some time out in the must-see villages of St Mawes, St Just in Roseland and Porthscatho.
Food and drink
There’s little need to stray beyond the onsite café and restaurant, open from breakfast to 9pm in peak season. You can also buy meat for the BBQ, or catch your own dinner on a 2-hour mackerel fishing trip (£14 per person, 07973 957550). For a cuppa before your walk, try the Coast Path Café (07512 543735) in Gorran Haven, the Mermaid Beach Café (07971 886782) or Cake Breads which is our local Post Office too. The old Barley Sheaf pub (01726 843330) is actually just outside the village in Gorran on a country lane. It's a wonderful old inn dating back to 1837.
