Treveague Farm Campsite
Treveague Farm Campsite, Gorran, Saint Austell, Cornwall PL26 6NY
A family farm perched in divine clifftop countryside, within easy reach of three sandy coves, Treveague Farm has everything a really good seaside campsite needs. So when you consider its extras – a café serving organic food, farm animals, a badger hide and an aviary with bantams, lovebirds and more – it really does notch up a few credits as a superb place to stay.
Spread across three meadows, with glorious sea views in two directions, this is the place to come for a proper coastal stay. When the wind blows it can be an exposed location, so you might want to opt for a space by the hedgerows rather than a front-row view, but the campsite’s open setting really lends itself to families who want space to spread out and let the kids loose. Even with 100 pitches it’s impossible to feel hemmed in here.
While kids gravitate to the farm animals, playground and storytelling sessions in the Secret Garden (great distractions when you want to chill out), make sure you tear them away from all this for a trip to the beach. After all, that’s what this location is really all about. It’s an easy stroll down to Hemmick Beach (though it’s advisable to avoid the short-cut through a field of cattle if you have a dog in tow) and not much further to the clear blue waters of Vault. The calf-grinding walk back up to camp is always a great excuse for a generous scoop of the Cornish ice cream they serve in the campsite shop too.
The Owner Says
The campsite is situated within Treveague Farm a 200-acre organic working farm, breeding sheep and cattle. Their produce can be found in our on-site restaurant and shop at 'The Secret Garden'. We run the Restaurant during peak season offering an amazingly and delicious menu range. We have food allergies (nut, fruit, and gluten) in our family so are really aware of this and if we can provide alternatives we will, please just ask. During the rest of the seasons we are open for yummy breakfasts and evening takeaways, with ample supplies of tea, coffees and cakes!
Treveague Farm truly is traditional camping as it should be, with room to roam and space to relax with extensive sea views. We offer a wide variety of grass pitches from non-powered through to hook up pitches with water and electric. There is a wooden adventure fort and swings in a safe area for the children. Our heated shower and toilet block is designed with campers in mind including separate disabled facilities. A ladies dressing room with power sockets, free hair dryer, mirrors and a safe baby changing area. A laundry and drying room for boots and coats, along with a washing up area equipped with a freezer (for ice blocks only), fridges, power sockets and a microwave. We are campers ourselves we love the outdoors and our first wish is for you to have a fantastic, relaxing and fun holiday, to share the amazing scenery that makes Cornwall so beautiful.
Amble down the coastal footpaths and explore a selection of beautiful Cornish beaches, from the child safe sands to the secluded and romantic coves. A short stroll away friendly local shops can normally cover the essentials.
During peak season we also try to provide child based entertainment.
Well behaved dogs are welcome but must be on a lead at all times.
We pride ourselves on running a fun and friendly site with only one rule.... Respect us and each other.
Relaxed atmosphere and lovely location but.....
The site is in a lovely location but is very exposed. Three or four tents were flattened by the wind during our stay. This is mentioned in the description with the comment "you might want to opt for a space by the hedgerows". We did mention this when we returned the booking confirmation, along with a request to be sited away from the play area, but were allocated a pitch in the middle of the field, near the play area. The atmosphere on the site is nice and relaxed, and access to some good cliff walks and beaches is direct from the campsite. The facilities are basic but fully functional and clean. The on-site restaurant is good but the shop is very limited in range. We would stay again if we had the chance to choose a pitch as it's much more 'camp site' than 'holiday park', unlike others in the area.
