The Owner Says

Wendy’s house is tucked into a corner on our beautiful campsite just on the edge of the woods that adjoins our gardens. Wendy’s house is around 17 sqm inside separated into two adjoining spaces. One comprises an antique iron, double (130) bed with comfortable mattress and warm clean bedding. The other space offers a sofa bed, a small low single bed and a little wood burner. A cupboard filled with dining and outdoor cooking gear and a dining table completes the basics necessary for a practical stay. We can provide a bbq grill and camping gas stove for your convenience.  The outdoor space open to the woods, offers a campfire area with fire pit, tripod and cooking pot, and fire-grill, as well as chairs and a hammock in dry weather. The cabin is Off Grid in summer, but a small radiator, lights and a USB plug can be switched on in winter if you need it. There are also battery lamps. There are 4 windows and a back door to the woodland balcony.

The campsite bubbles with families and laughter during the busy holidays and settles down to complete peace on weekdays. Out of season ( Oct - march), when there are no campers, share the space only with the pheasants and the local wildlife as well as us and the family pottering around on one project or another. The facilities (Loos showers washing up, hammock deck and covered lounge) are just 20 metres from the cabin. The space behind the cabin offers an area for outdoor cooking and dining with a great view into the woodland from the rocking chair on the little balcony. The property is around 7 acres including meadow woods and orchard and you are welcome to discover and relax in any of the areas open to campers. There is a covered shelter and lounge outside reception where you can charge a device, catch up on necessary work, use the fridge or purchase hot and cold drinks. Please note there is no Wi-fi but 4g networks are mostly good. Main parking is in the field away from the car free spaces but most of the time there is a space just behind the cabin to park your car if you don’t mind looking at it! It is also a good place to unload your stuff.

Bedding and linen for one double bed and one single bed is included.

Consumables such as batteries, firewood etc. are not included, but can be purchased in our shop.

Dogs can stay in Wendy's House! Just let us know before hand, and bring a basket!

Rustic Charm

We stayed for 2 nights and the owners Laura & Med were happy to switch our booking at short notice to a woodland pitch after we found out how hot the weekend was going to be. The site is not huge which suits us and has nice little ‘meadows’ which take just a few tents each. The wood is nice and secluded even though you could see other campers and each pitch had it’s own fire pit. The toilets and showers are clean and well maintained plus keeping with the eco feel of the site with small bars of hand made soap and cut-up old towels for single use hand drying - great idea and beats having paper towels or hand dryers. The reception, wash up area and bathroom have a quaint, rustic and somewhat mediterranean feel and it is perfectly charming. Looking forward to going back

A lovely, pretty csmpsite

I really loved staying here. The bell tent was set up beautifully. The owners were lovely and the kids loved it that they cut some willow branches for them to toast marshmallows on the fire.

Star Gazing, Den Building & Smore Eating

The children loved playing in the woods & building their den, 'Zela'. Also enjoyed star gazing & they were very excited to discover the brightest 'star' was infact Jupiter. Making Smores on the camp fire. Lovely campsite with space for them to play. Facitilities are limited, but functional with a lovely little shower block full of character. Owners were very friendly & always happy to help.

Camp-fire and Bluebells

We camped for 2 nights in a small (which was not so small) secluded woodland pitch. We were surrounded by nature, a carpet of heavenly scented bluebells and trees. We had our own fire-pit, bought wood from the owners for a very reasonable price, and had a wonderful fire both nights, and cooked on it the second. Med and Laura are lovely people, friendly and accommodating. The facilities are basic, but adequate and very quirky. We loved it, our dog loved it, and if you like 'proper' camping, you will love it too!

Welsummer is een mooie, natuurlijke camping. De campingplaatsen zijn ruim, de camping is sfeervol en met liefde voor de natuur aangelegd.
