There are eight toilets and four showers plus two open-air sinks for washing up. Two bell tents are hired out unfurnished, while eight are furnished with made-up double beds and single futons, a log-burning stove, bunting, fairy lights and seating inside and out. Each has a fire pit. For campers with their own tents, fire pits are available to hire (or you can bring your own) and logs are for sale. There is also a fully-licensed (and well-stocked) bar on site offering local food and drinks and the barn, a cosy indoor space, with a log burner, comfy seating and a big screen that's sometimes used for showing films. There's also covered outdoor seating too.
Glampers, campers, small campervans, groups, dogs (in unfurnished bell tents and BYO pitches only) – yes. Caravans, motorhomes – no.
Betteshanger Park (01304 619227), a country park on the site of a former colliery, is just over a mile down the road. It has walking and cycling trails, play equipment and lots of events throughout the year. Just beyond it is Cottington Lakes Fishery (01304 380691) with a selection of lakes for anglers. The historic towns of Sandwich and Deal are within cycling distance of site (three and four miles away, respectively). The Sandwich Bay Bird Observatory field centre is just outside town and provides information on nature reserves and places to spot birds and wildlife. You can also walk directly there from site on local footpaths through marsh land. There are also wildlife boat tours, including seal-spotting, from Sandwich harbour with Sandwich River Bus (07958 376183). It's just a short drive (15 miles) to Canterbury with its magnificent cathedral, to the sandy beaches and seaside towns of Broadstairs, Ramsgate and Margate or to historic Dover Castle (0370 3331181). Kids will love the exotic animals at Howletts Wild animal Park (11 miles away) and Wingham Wildlife Park (eight miles) – where life-sized dinosaur models are almost as exciting for younger kids. Older ones, and adults, might be more interested in the canoeing, kayaking and paddleboarding on the River Stour. You can hire vessels for a paddle from Canoe Wild (07947 835688) 11 miles away.
Food & Drink
There is a fully-licensed (and well-stocked) bar on site offering locally-sourced food and drinks, including proper coffee. At the end of the lane, you'll find well-stocked Algar Lodge Farm Shop, which can cater for all your picnic and campfire cooking supplies, and there's a pub right over the road too. But those in the know stick with drinks at the on-site bar or head out to one of three recommended pubs just a mile away; The Crown (01304 612555) or the St Crispin Inn (01304 612081), which you'll need to get in the car for, or The Blue Pigeons (01304 613233), which is a pleasant walk away. For fish and chips, head to Sandwich and enjoy them from the quayside or head to Deal to pick up some fresh fish to cook back on site.

Friendly staff and good amenities
Very relaxing. Staff helpful about walks in the area. The pub and food is a definite plus with live music fridays - lovely site. Having a communal area undercover is great for the unpredictable weather
Laid back, friendly, immaculate, quirky and great food and bar on site. Fab!
Stayed one night after a walking group anniversary get together. The best mowed pitch our van has ever parked on! So friendly. Only 10 minutes drive from home but we felt as though we were a hundred miles away and on holiday. The bar, breakfasts and evening meals are a real bonus if you want to just totally chill!
Relaxing, friendly fun stay at Lilyroos
We stayed for 4 nights from 6th September, we were very lucky with the weather too. We really enjoyed our stay and the owners were friendly and available if you needed anything. The toilets and showers were very clean and well maintained, the site was quiet so no issues with waiting. We were glamping and we loved the wood burner in the Bell tent when temperature dropped at night. The bed was very comfortable and the space was perfect for us. We also enjoyed the sunsets Bar area was fab and food very good it made it very easy , we had a fab stay and we would definitely return
great low key Glamping
Loved it. Facilities fine, was really taken with the G+T bar, what a fab idea to have that on site! The same with the food-stall, wonderful food which means no shopping cooking or cleaning ourselves (which is always a bit of a pain when you're camping, let's face it) The bad-weather spaces are wonderful too, and we didn't even need them. We will be back! Location is great, in a nice quiet place but still close by anything you may want (towns, business, beach, walks etc)
Nice campsite for the fsmily
Spent two nights here in our own tent. Could drive right up to the pitch to load/unload which was great, before going back to the car park. Cosy bar and snug area looked loveky, but didn’t use it. Two separate toilet blocks, nicer one for glampers only, but toilets were clean and fit for purpose. Shower was open topped, and had plenty of hot water. Kids likes the small play area, plus the chickens and goats were a hit. Great location for days out (Dover castle was a great). We had a great stay, but was probably only 25% occupied, could imagine it would get quite busy (and queues for the loos) during peak times.
Calm relaxing with great facilities
We had a two night stay with dogs , everything was very well organised , with Very friendly staff and owners nothing was too much trouble , very nice cosy bar and seating areas,Very nice food too. Would definitely stay again
A real gem
What a delightful find in Lillyroos. The site so well kept and wonderfully quirky. From the great showers to the bar for guests - chill out area and warm welcome. Highly recommend.
Such a perfect campsite, it ticked every box,
We had a group of 6 families, with children ranging from 7-12 and this campsite was just perfect. We camp a lot but decided glamping would make a nice change. The tents and trimmings with cosy beds and log burners were fantastic, especially as the evenings got chilly. Everything you could possibly need was onsite, warm showers, clean toilets, G&Ts, fantastic food, a barn showing evening movies if it’s rainy, live music at weekends, goats, chickens, and above all the most friendly, kind and dedicated team of staff. The location is surrounded by every activity you could want from cycling, beach swimming, walking, canoeing, archery to name a small few and not forgetting the area is steeped in history with castles and medieval towns if that’s of interest too. You can choose to dip in or out of glamping life or mix it up as there are spaces to bring your own tents too and set up your own cooking rig and enjoy an outdoor shower. The staff here take huge pride in this idyllic set up and lots of thought has gone into the little added touches of bunting, fairy lights and cool remote control tent lights which look stunning as the sunsets. The hugely welcomed coffee and breakfast rolls were also a special treat on those mornings when you couldn’t be bothered to do it yourself, Bryan has created a delicious menu and if I lived closer I would just head here for dinner or tea one evening it really was fabulous food! Thank you Lillyroo’s we made some special memories xx
A wonderful camp site with everything in one place
Fabulous camp site with everything you need in once place. Toilets and showers good, staff amazing, The bar and food area was so great and so cosy and great to have a big screen to watch TV/Films if you wish. The location is great, so close to both Deal and Sandwich and a short drive to Canterbury. We were able to have a fire pit at night to maximise the whole camping outside living experience. A wonderful few days awayWe will be back
Friendly, clean, quirky and a great find
Lovely small and friendly site. Great bar & food area. Bell tents were clean and well furnished. Loads of places to visit locally. Would highly recommend.
Great campsite, lovely people
We really enjoyed a few days here. It offers everything you need in a small, friendly package. The bar is well operated, food is great with some really nice ‘box’ meals that are much nicer than the usual (e.g., Chicken Souvlaki, Pulled Pork etc) and the staff are really friendly. As a family we really enjoyed being able to go for a bike ride heading across to Sandwich and Deal without going on roads and we also had a great time on site playing pool and various other games. Overall, a great weekend and we will head back soon.
Lovely small, family run campsite
We stayed 4 nights at Lillyroos in our campervan on one of their grass pitches and absolutely loved it. The pitches are generous in size and nice and flat (essential for a campervan) and the facilities were clean (loved the outdoor shower!) The addition of the bar onsite, food options and pool table added to the joy for our teenage boys (we certainly used that pool table loads...) everyone we spoke with was so friendly and we'd definitely recommend it. (Amazing chicken souvlaki as well!!!) Thanks Lillyroos!
We loved our 2 night stay at Lillyroos, great location, clean, quiet and the staff are really friendly. Loved the bar and the seating area. Great food too :) Location is perfect for Whitstable, Deal and Sandwich.
Really enjoyed our stay at Lillyroo’s. Pitch spacious, friendly and very helpful staff. Toilets were the cleanest site loos I have used. The bins are emptied daily. Good little touches like providing washing up liquid. Food was very good and well priced. Great having a bar on site. Movies screened in the evenings. As near a main road there is a good bus service to Deal and Sandwich.
Great location, great breakfast, clean facilities and friendly staff
We took one of the pitches with our campervan next to the field. There was enough space for everyone so it didn’t feel cramped and the location is great for Betteshanger cycle park and Sandwich Bay beache, which were both ace. Beers on tap when we ran out of cold ones and the option to buy breakfast or dinner (which was delicious). The staff were great, very friendly and we had a good laugh chatting at the bar in the evening. We would stay here again and maybe bring some friends to stay in one of the bell tents next time.
This was our first camping trip as a family of four. My partner and I have camped in the past and was nervous about taking the kids. We really didn’t need to worry; Lilyroo’s felt like home. The owner and staff (don’t even feel like I can call them staff as they just felt like your mates) were all the loveliest people! Although the campsite itself is only small the pitches were large, there’s an on-site play area for the kids and goats and chickens which kept our kids entertained from the minute they got up to the minute they conked out! The Indoor barns are beautiful, kids were able to watch a film of an evening which was lovely as it gave us a chance to get them to unwind from a day of adventuring before bed! There was an open top shower which was lovely , everything is so clean and well thought out. Food was fantastic! We had the chicken souvlaki and pulled pork burger, kids had chicken Goujon wraps and we also had a cheeky burger - all was so so good and very reasonably priced! It definitely won’t be our last time visiting Lilyroos!! We even added another night on as 2 nights just wasn’t enough! Thank you for making our first family camping trip so relaxing and memorable! We will be back! Rachel, Lewis and kids! - pitch 1 Xxxxxx
Geared up for Glamping
The site is small and rural, and lovely for children with goats, chickens and a play area. However, it is clear that the site is set up for Glamping and as BYO campers, it felt a bit unwelcoming. Unfortunately, the website doesn’t advertise the BYO bathroom policy on the BYO page, rather it’s a long scroll down on the COVID Adaptations link. Showers are not accessible to BYO only those Glamping, some toilets have signs saying ‘Glamping Only’ as does the washing up area. If Glamping is the preferred option for the site, then perhaps the owners needs to exclusively focus on that. The on-site cafe is useful and great for coffee in the mornings. We didn’t use the bar area, but it looks comfortable and cosy. Overall, it was a nice site, but I wouldn’t go back as a BYO camper.
Site was lovely and so clean. Great facilities. Food was great. Staff were friendly and helpful. Bell tents were spacious and beds comfy. We'll definitely be going back. Thank you Lillyroos for a great first camping trip for our little boy
We enjoyed our stay at Lilyroos and are looking forward to returning. Lovely campsite and despite a rainy couple of days we had fun.
This is absolutely the best place I have stayed, without a doubt. And an excellent alternative to going away on a big holiday. Gorgeous tent, really comfy beds, beautiful site, lovely showers and toilets- very glamorous! Amazing food, lovely drinks, stylish bar/ barn area, really lovely, friendly staff. Nothing was too much trouble. My 10 yr old had such a lovely time too, and a really nice vibe on the site. There is something here for everyone. We didn’t want to leave! Thank you Lillyroos!
Great atmosphere on this site. Perfect mix of good food, space for kids to play, fire pits and a fab undercover area in case the weather turns, with a decent bar. Facilities were cleaned everyday and had everything you needed. We brought our own tent and the pitches were a good size. Would definitely recommend.
Great stay, lovely hosts and lovely food
We had a lovely stay. Welcoming hosts. Very clean facilities. The food available was lovely. The bell tent was well equipped and the beds were super comfy. Thank you very much.
Lovely friendly site
I camped at Lillyroo’s with my bike club and we had a wonderful weekend. The owners and their team looked after us really well. The site is level with good shower and toilet facilities and it’s convenient for visiting Deal and Sandwich but there’s no road noise to disturb your night’s sleep. The bar/restaurant is a real bonus. We’ll definitely be back!
Beat campsite we have ever stayed at!!
From start to finish the hosts were fantastic, warm, helpful, full of local knowledge. Clean campsite, nice and quiet, great facilities (especially beer on tap 😉) We had a slight hint of rain one evening and the Barn with tv's and log burners ment we didnt have to stay in the tent!! Dog friendly too so our frenchie could join us! Would highly recommend this site and we will be back for sure. Lovely farm shop which is walkable and the beach was only a short drive!!
Absolutely Fantastic Camping and Glamping
Dave and his team run a brilliant eco friendly site, amenities are excellent, warm and friendly hospitality. The food on site is very tasty, the Chefs do a great job, and the bar is also well stocked. Well appointed and spacious bell tents, clean and comfortable wash facilities. Dave, Sarah and the team were fantastic hosts, nothing too much trouble. Looking forward to returning as soon as possible!
A totally brilliant camping weekend
What a fabulous site - gin bar, goats, great showers and amazing food. 21 very happy campers who will definetly be back.
Fabulous glamping, great experience
We had a really good time - it was our first tie glamping and we loved it. The staff looked after us so well. The facilities were clean and nice. There was a small children's playground on site, which my toddler enjoyed. There are also goats and chickens - also a big hit. The campsite is within easy reach of lots of lovely places on the Kent coast.
Just had the most fabulous stay at Lillyroo's! Am very much a camping novice and feared it wouldn't really suit me but I loved it! The staff were lovely. Everything was super clean and Covid compliant. Great facilities: lovely bed, secure bell tent with log burner and funky lighting, plenty of loo and shower facilities, affordable bar and great selection of food, Huge barn with big screen showing full Netflix selection and separate TV area --- even an open-top shower. Perfect. Thanks - we'll do it again!
Lillyroo's what can I say! A little gem of a place! We booked at quote short notice as our event that we were supposed to attending was canceled and we wasn't disappointed! Everything about the site was just perfect..when we arrived we were very much made welcome the owner and staff were very friendly and helpful, the facilities were spotlessly clean. The converted bar and lounging area was welcoming although we catered for ourselves the food look very varied..had a lovely little play area and the glamping tents looked amazing...have recommended to friends and we will be returning
Clean, easy, nice space
Nice & small site, friendly and great for the children. Highly recommended x
Lovely mid-week break
Beautiful site, lovely breakfast (rest of the menu looked good but we had other plans). Friendly hosts and always around to provide booze or a cup of tea. Some nice touch facilities for a campsite. Was quiet when we went mid week which was great, will be a good atmosphere on busy weekends I’m sure. Cheers!
Beautiful place for all ages. Nothing was too much trouble, owners and staff are natural hosts. Love the attention to details. Thank you, we'll be back. x
We had such a wonderful introduction to Glamping at Lillyroos. It’s a really lovely site. We were 5 families who were looked after incredibly well. The beds in the bell tents were super comfortable. I was 36 weeks pregnant and had no trouble all weekend. We ate 2 of the 3 nights on site as opposed to cooking and it was delicious. The kids absolutely loved it too. The goats, chickens, playground, bouncing castle! Dave was an incredible host. I can’t wait to book again . I’ve been told the gin bar will be ready!!
What a find!
We have just returned from a glorious 2 night stay at Lillyroo’s in our VW campervan, and we had an excellent time! The owners (Sally & Dave), couldn’t have been nicer, or more helpful. The site has everything you need, including a really cool G&T bar and delicious food available to order. The toilets, showers, and all facilities were very clean, and the site is bbq, firepit and dog friendly! The location is great for walking out to Sandwich, Worth, Deal and beyond, or cycling on or off road if that’s your thing. They also have fully furnished glamping tents, if you want a more lux experience. Can’t wait to visit again! Matt & Alex xx
5 star camping
Small and very friendly campsite, great for kids with a play area, bouncy castle, goats, chickens and plenty of space to run around. This was our first Glamping experience and felt luxurious compared to our usual camping. Toilets and showers were spotlessly clean. There is a kitchen and bar on site, the food was delicious and along with a G&T from the bar, made first night set up very relaxing. The owners of the site were always on hand to help and make sure everyone was happy. Great area with lots to do and a fantastic farm shop just up the road. We will definitely be back. There is a bar and kitchen on site, which was great - food was fresh and delicious. with the owners always on hand to help. Our first time Glamping and will definitely be back.Brilliant site, toilets and showers were spotlessly clean.
We went to Lilyroos glamping as a family on the bank holiday weekend of May 2021 we all had a lovely time very welcoming. Lots of space for children to play a small playground and animals and a bouncy castle the kids had so much fun. There is a lot of places near by to go for a day out. The food at the bar was amazing. The toilet and showers where keep clean and tidy. We had an amazing time thank you Lillyroos.
Amazing Bell Tents!
We stayed in one of the bell tents at LillyRoo’s in April. The tents were immaculate with lots of lovely little touches and very comfy beds. The whole camp site is lovely, very clean and well organised. Showers and bathrooms are kept spotless. Having the goats, chickens and little play area is a great addition for the kids! The hosts are so lovely - very welcoming and helpful. They make you feel at home straight away and can’t do enough for you, from filling up the kids hot water bottles to putting a film on for them to watch via projector in the cosy barn area. We had a great time and would definitely return!
A lovely small site. Owners are very friendly and they are Dog friendly, there are fields around the site so great for walks. Definitely returning.
This is our second time staying at LilyRoos. Last year we camped on site but this year we stayed two nights glamping in the Bell Tents which are beautifully furnished and so comfortable. The facilities are spotless throughout and always a warm and hospitable welcome. We enjoyed the Breakfast Baps, really good coffee and even had an evening meal there, ordered in advance the night before. Just a fantastic experience all round and in the most beautiful of settings. Love it! See you next time. AnT & Russell XX
beautiful setting and warmest of welcomes
We had a fab time at Lillyroo's with our two girls aged 4 and 6. The owners are so welcoming and kind and they have created a lovely little rustic spot. The birds wake you up in the morning and the trees in the wind make the most magical sound. Thank you so much for having us - we will be back :)
Very friendly welcome as we turned up on site. Everything from the tent to the shower block, toilets and field are ckean and tidy. The bar area is amazing. Nice long quiet walks through the nature areas next to the site with good pubs at the end of the walk. Would highly recommend a visit.
